She offers 8 + 1 guest staterooms, while the exterior deck areas are spacious and designed for entertainment of both big groups and for intimate gatherings of 12 to 14 people. “No one will feel lost” says Luiz DeBasto. The Sun Deck offers around-the-clock entertainment with a hot tub, sun-pads, TV, day head, bar and acres of open space.

“With Jewels’ enormous volume, my objective was to make the exterior less bulky and give a feeling of a forward dynamic movement, rather than a static feel” says Luiz DeBasto. “I wanted the design to show movement and purpose from any angle. I achieved this with the long ascending line from the swim platform all the way up to the mast and down to the pilothouse windshield”.

Some of Jewels’ highlights include a substantial swim platform that make it easy for ingress and egress from tenders. The Owner's stateroom and VIP suite are forward on Main Deck. Traffic circulation between guests and crew are completely separated on all decks, including discreet access on Lower Deck between the Laundry and the Guest's area. Crew accommodations for 10 are on the lower deck and there is a Captain's cabin on the Upper Deck next to the pilothouse.

“The yacht’ general arrangement is unique and highly personalized, using all available space to maximize guest accommodation. 5 guest cabins occupy the lower deck with the typical beach club area being surrendered for an extra guest cabin. The main deck retains the typical layout with main saloon, spacious full beam owner’s suite and neighboring VIP cabin. On bridge deck an extra 2 cabins have been added between the bridge and upper saloon providing accommodation for 18 guests in total.” Says James Bermudez, H2 Yacht Design.

“The interior design brief was established early in the design process with the client favoring a traditional yacht aesthetic combining classic teak joinery with gold inlays, bevel edged mirrors, colorful textiles and highly decorative stones.

Turquoise Yachts has announced the launch of 53m Jewels , another unique vessel to add to the Turquoise fleet. The celebrations gave Jewels a warm welcome to the seas as the newest member of the Turquoise fleet. The ceremony took place at the Pendik shipyard on the 19th of August together with the owners, guests and the Turquoise team.

Jewels' exterior design belongs to Miami based DeBasto Design , whilst her interior is created by London based H2 Yacht Design . At 720 GT, Jewels offers interior and exterior space commensurate with yachts that are usually much larger.

The vessel offers nine guest staterooms, while the exterior deck areas are spacious and designed for entertaining big groups and also for intimate gatherings. "No one will feel lost" says Luiz DeBasto. The Sun Deck offers around-the-clock entertainment with a hot tub, sun-pads, TV, day head and open space.

The above graph highlights Turquoise Yachts' deliveries since 2017 and their average LOA(m). In the five years between 2017 and 2021 Turquoise Yachts have on average made one delivery every year, however, 2022 has already seen one delivery this year, as well as the launch of Jewels and another vessel still in build.

Turquoise Yachts’ 53m JEWELS Set to Dazzle the Monaco Yacht Show

By Frances Flannagan

JEWELS, a rare gem in the Turquoise fleet, will make her world debut at the Monaco Yacht Show this year. She is a testimony to a wonderful collaboration among the yard, the designers, and the owner, who has graciously allowed Turquoise Yachts to showcase her in Monaco.

JEWELS’ distinctive profile will set her apart from all the other superyachts in Monaco, truly making her a rare gem not just in the Turquoise  fleet, but in the world. She has elegant sharp lines and clear geometry, the design work of DeBasto Designs, and boasts a sumptuous interior design penned by H2 Yacht Design in collaboration with the owner.

The ample space that JEWELS offers parallels that of yachts much larger, with a fantastic amount of both interior and exterior areas. The exterior decks are incredibly spacious, with the ability to entertain large groups as well as intimate gatherings. Luiz DeBasto, principal of DeBasto Designs, has stated that,  ‘no one will feel lost’. This is clearly a nod to the fantastic offerings of the yacht, specifically the sun deck, which is home to a plethora of entertainment opportunities, including a hot tub, sun-pads, TV, bar, and vast amounts of open space.

JEWELS’ interiors are lavish with intricate detailing; unique and highly personalised to the client. The space has been used to maximise guest accommodations, with five guest cabins occupying the lower deck, a main deck with a main salon, full-beam owner’s suite and VIP stateroom, and the bridge deck with two cabins, meaning that JEWELS can accommodate 18 guests.

‘The interior design brief was established early in the design process with the client favouring a traditional yacht aesthetic combining classic teak joinery with gold inlays, bevel-edged mirrors, colourful textiles and highly decorative stones,’ says James Bermudez from H2 Yacht Design.

The interior design represents the pinnacle of luxury, with built-in furniture embellished with gold rope detailing, marble panels in the bathroom, richly decorated furnishings and gold giallo siena marble flooring, amongst many more lavish details. A sensation of opulence pervades throughout the entirety of the yacht, showcasing the harmonious collaboration between the designer, and the owner’s desires.

The owner frequently visited the shipyard and was extremely hands-on in the design process, even visiting Turquoise Yachts’ suppliers to pick out the material selections first-hand. This showcases the outstanding work of Turquoise Yachts’ and their ability to collaborate on such intricate and unique designs, making JEWELS' debut at Monaco even more special as she is such a personal creation.

We at Superyachts.com cannot wait to see JEWELS at the Monaco Yacht Show, standing out as a rare gem of splendid collaboration.

"The interior design brief was established early in the design process with the client favouring a traditional yacht aesthetic combining classic teak joinery with gold inlays, bevel-edged mirrors, colourful textiles and highly decorative stones." James Bermudez, H2 Yacht Design

Turquoise Yachts launches 53m superyacht 'Jewels'

Turquoise Yachts Jewels

Turquoise Yachts is delighted to present the launch of 53m Jewels. With her chic, sharp lines and sleek geometry, Jewels is another one-of-a-kind yacht to join the Turquoise fleet. The ceremonies conducted under the theme of gold and glamour gave Jewels a warm welcome to the seas as the newest member of the Turquoise fleet. The event took place at the Pendik shipyard on 19 August in the company of the owners, guests, and the Turquoise team.

Jewels’ exterior design was created by Miami-based DeBasto Design, and her interior was done by London-based H2 Yacht Design. At 720 GT, Jewels offers a fantastic interior and exterior space, usually only found on much larger yachts. She has 8 + 1 guest staterooms, and the exterior deck areas are spacious and designed to entertain large groups and intimate gatherings. “No one will feel lost” says Luiz DeBasto. The Sun Deck offers around-the-clock entertainment with a hot tub, sun pads, TV, day head, bar, and open space.

I achieved this with the long ascending line from the swim platform all the way up to the mast and down to the pilothouse windshield”.

Notable features of Jewels include a spacious swim platform for easy access to and from tenders. The Owner's stateroom and VIP suite are located on Main Deck, Forward. Traffic circulation between guests and crew is completely separated on all decks, including discreet access on Lower Deck between the Laundry and the Guest's area. Crew accommodations for 10 are on Lower Deck, and the Captain's cabin is on Upper Deck next to the pilothouse.

Another social nook is the foredeck, which is used to carry two tenders and Jet Skis, leaving the stern area free for guest use. The aim of designer Luiz de Basto of Miami-based DeBasto Designs was to make the exterior feel sporty and dynamic, despite being wrapped around a cavernous 720 GT volume and 31-foot beam.

Perhaps the biggest commitment to the owner’s mandate for comfort was the decision to surrender a beach club at the stern—something that is standard on every other superyacht—and instead add an extra guest cabin on the lower deck. The unusual design required significant layout changes to access the cabin from the main salon. The engine room had to be reduced to make space for the guest en suite. Noise and vibration levels also needed to be suppressed so sleeping was a pleasant experience.

Jewels sleeps 18 guests in total. There are two more guest cabins on the bridge deck between the bridge and upper salon (replacing the original design of a captain’s cabin and staff cabin), and a full-beam main deck owner’s suite and VIP.

Superyacht Jewels

Inspiration for the interior came from the owner’s private residence, which Bermudez described as having a style akin to Annabel’s, the private members’ club in London. Lavish materials and exotic textiles drip from every wall, ceiling, and surface. The yacht also features patinated mirrored ceilings, bright velvet sofas, heated marble floors and no shortage of gold leaf. Carpets are thick and soft. Much of the marble comes from Turkey, selected by the owner. He visited the shipyard every month to stay immersed in the intricate detailing.

Jewels is the second yacht from the Istanbul-based shipyard to have a turquoise steel hull matching the color of the sea, following the 2018 launch of 253-foot G O. The shipyard developed a special automated spray-paint technique for Jewels to get the turquoise exterior finish as smooth as possible. It’s mated to a white aluminum superstructure and sets the tone for the highly ornate interior.

“The interior design was established early in the design process with the client favoring a traditional yacht aesthetic,” says Bermudez.

“Traditional” in this sense seems relative to the owner, translating to heavy woods, gilded edges, bold colors, and crystal chandeliers. The lower-deck guest cabins are color themed for the owner’s daughters, including pistachio green, royal purple, and ruby red. Gold textiles are mixed with teak and walnut burl veneers. The bathrooms include bold-veined marbles and gold details.

Giallo siena marble flooring anchors the communal areas of the main deck, while the color turquoise is used here as well to accent the furniture and curtains. The formal dining area is forward of the main salon, flanked by built-in storage cupboards and large windows.

On the bridge deck, the upper salon offers a more open and (relatively) informal lounge experience. This area features a color step change in the form of French blue. The full-beam architecture and large windows provide guests with a connection to the outdoors, with direct access to the aft deck.

Few yachts live up to their name as well as Jewels . In this case, it nods to both the onboard detailing and the precious family time spent at sea.

By Steph Loseby   29 March 2023

Marking the latest addition to their fleet, Turquoise Yachts has announced the launch of the 75m (246ft) superyacht INFINITE JEST , previously known as Project NB69, from their shipyard facilities in Turkey .

Touching the water for the first time on 27th March 2023, the 1680GT superyacht boasts a sleek silhouette helmed by Vallicelli Yacht Design. The yacht appears long and slender thanks to the low angle of the transom slope and the very long forward overhang, which generates an elegant profile reminiscent of sporty sailing.

With the aim to transform the yacht’s living space into a dynamic experience of its own, Dutch studio Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design was responsible for her vast interiors.

The styling of the superstructure and the hull makes for an exquisite balance: a combination of simple sleek lines and a powerful dynamic look

Key features onboard include a full 14.2-meter beam beach club, which opens aft to a large swimming pool and has opening shell doors on either side that can transform into extended platforms to the sea, providing the perfect terrace space for those looking to relax by the water's edge.

There is also a central tender garage with side hull access that is home to a 10.2-meter limousine tender, a guest tender, a crew tender and several Jet Skis.

Accommodation is for 12 guests comprising the Owner’s suite and five guest suites. The crew accommodation meanwhile consists of one captain’s cabin, 10 double crew cabins and one convertible hospital/ massage cabin.

Following the recently delivered 53m (173ft) JEWELS , Turquoise Yachts currently has six vessels under construction including 87m (285ft) Project VENTO and 79m (261ft) Project TORO which is next in line, with delivery scheduled for later this year.

It is not expected that motor yacht INFINITE JEST will be available for charter.

The superyacht world is speculating that Mark Zuckerberg just bought this 118-meter boat

  • The 118-meter superyacht Launchpad made her maiden voyage last week.
  • The yacht world is speculating that her owner is Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
  • Here's what we know about the luxury vessel.

In the world of superyachts , privacy is the most valuable asset. It can be next to impossible to discern the details of a superyacht transaction — and that's particularly true if the vessel in question is worth nine figures.

Yet some in the boat blogging world are speculating that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is the new owner of Launchpad, a megayacht currently moored in Fort Lauderdale, Florida after she made her maiden voyage from Gibraltar to St Maarten last week. Launchpad clocks in at 118 meters long, about nine meters shorter than Jeff Bezos' superyacht Koru .

The transaction could not be confirmed, with yacht world insiders declining to share what they know and representatives for Zuckerberg not responding to a request for comment from Business Insider. In the past, reports about Zuckerberg owning superyacht Ulysses have proven false.

"It is Feadship's standard policy to never divulge any information about our yachts with reference to ownership, costs, or delivery, etc," Feadship, the ship's builder, wrote to BI. "Whether it is an 18-meter Feadship from the 1960s or a 118-meter Feadship from the 21st century, we do not share private information."

But Zuckerberg's name has been connected to Launchpad for a few months now, beginning in December when reports swirled that he visited Feadship's shipyard in the Netherlands.

Then, earlier in March, yachting bloggers like eSysman SuperYachts and Autoevolution started speculating that he officially snagged the boat, originally built for a sanctioned Russian businessman, at a $300 million price tag. (While that's a seemingly huge amount, it's still less than 0.2% of Zuckerberg's $177 billion net worth.)

Another clue that might point to US ownership is that the yacht bears the flag of the Marshall Islands, a US territory and commonplace for American buyers to register their ships, according to public marine tracking.

If Zuckerberg were to have bought Launchpad, he would join a cohort of superyacht-owning tech billionaires . Along with Bezos, the likes of Oracle cofounder Larry Ellison and Google cofounders Sergey Brin and Larry Page have purchased impressive boats with even more impressive amenities.

SuperYacht Times , an industry publication and intelligence platform, has some of the best images of the yacht. Photos show a swimming pool on her main deck and a large helipad.

While less is known of the interior, a vessel of her size can likely sleep dozens of guests and crew and may have amenities like an expansive gym where Zuckerberg could practice his jiu-jitsu or a spa with a massage area. We suspect there's also space for plenty of toys — which could include his viral hydrofoil foil .

Do you have any details about Launchpad or any other superyachts? Email reporter Madeline Berg at [email protected].

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee after being told he couldn't be there, the San Diego-based broadcaster CBS8 reported on March 11.

Joseph Holt, a 21-year-old employee at Marriot Marina in San Diego, told CBS8 that he spotted the yacht sailing into the private dock. The owner, whom CBS8 identified as Ajay Thakore, tried to pick another person up at the dock, Holt said.

"I told him respectfully that he couldn't be there, and I honestly was hoping to have a conversation with him about his cool boat," Holt told CBS8.

In a YouTube video posted by @SM-wc9eq on March 10, a dark blue Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is seen sailing out of a dock. A man in a gray T-shirt, a pair of jeans, and a cap was shown standing on the yacht. The man appeared to be Thakore, per CBS8.

Thakore was shown shouting at Holt. "I will kill you, you know I will kill you!" he can be heard saying multiple times in the video

Thakore was later shown pounding his fist on his palm and pointing his thumb down before telling Holt: "To your face!" Holt was shown responding by pointing his middle finger at Thakore.

"I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird," Holt told CBS8.

Related stories

Holt said Thakore then took $100 bills from his wallet and threw them at him. He added that Thakore mooned him. This exchange was not shown in the video.

"He was saying I'm nobody, I'm nothing, I work a silly job. He said that he knows people, he has connections, he can change my life and ruin it," Holt said. Holt did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.

The San Diego Harbor Police arrived at the marina 10 minutes after Thakore's yacht exited the dock, per CBS8.

The Harbor Police told Business Insider that Holt decided to press charges against Thakore and that they are investigating the incident.

According to Thakore's LinkedIn page , he's the CEO of Doctor Multimedia. The company's website shows that it's a healthcare marketing firm based in San Diego. Thakore appears to go by the name Ace Rogers on Instagram and TikTok, where he's noted as being a professional gambler.

Thakore, through his public relations team, told CBS8 in a statement that his altercation with Holt was "regrettable."

"What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange," the statement said. Thakore did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BI.

Thakore isn't the only CEO who's been called out for threatening another person. In November 2021, an Activision spokesperson told BI that its ex-CEO Bobby Kotick had previously apologized for telling his assistant he would have her killed. The spokesperson added that Kotick's threat was "obviously hyperbolic and inappropriate" and that "he deeply regrets the exaggeration and tone."

In June 2020, Lisa Alexander, the CEO of LaFace Skincare, a cosmetics company, apologized in a statement to the media after she had threatened to call the police on her neighbor for writing "Black Lives Matter" on his property. Alexander said in the apology that she was "disrespectful" and "should have minded my own business."

Epic video footage captures Lamborghini yacht owner screaming ‘I will kill you’ at marina employee

Marina altercation

A screenshot of the yacht and its owner, Ajay Thakore. Screenshot

Talk about a bizarre scene that could’ve been pulled straight from a movie.

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee after he was informed that he couldn’t be there, CBS8 reported back on March 11.

The story begins with Joseph Holt, a 21-year-old employee at Marriot Marina in San Diego, where he told CBS8 that he saw the yacht sailing into the private dock Sunday afternoon. Apparently, the owner, identified as Ajay Thakore, attempted to pick up another person at the dock.

“I told him respectfully that he couldn’t be there, and I honestly was hoping to have a conversation with him about his cool boat,” Holt said to the news outlet.

“But yeah, it completely went the other way,” Holt added.

Captured on a video that was posted to YouTube by @SM-wc9eq on March 10 was an embarrassing verbal confrontation between Holt and Thakore, in front of a host of onlookers.

A dark blue Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 can be seen sailing out of a dock. Standing on the end of the yacht was a man sporting a gray shirt, jeans, and a cap.

The man seen in the video footage was seemingly the local business owner and philanthropist, screaming at the young man as the yacht sailed away.

Thakore was seen threatening his life, shouting at Holt, saying, “I will kill you, you know I will kill you!” He can be heard repeating himself multiple times in the video.

Thakore can be seen pounding his fists on his palm and pointing his thumb down, and telling Holt, “To your face!”

This caused Holt, who is standing on the dock, to respond with hoisting his middle finger in the air, directed at Thakore. Thakore’s screams can be heard echoing through the arena.

“It escalated immediately. It was 0 to 100 immediately,” he said to the outlet.

“I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird,” he added.

Holt said Thakore went as far as to take $100 bills from his wallet and throw the money at him, which landed in the water, and even dropped his pants and mooned him.

“[He] started to make gestures to everybody watching and me. You can’t act that way in public. It’s just not ok. Especially threatening my life, at the very least. There were women and children there. That’s the most important part,” Holt told the news outlet.

Unfortunately, the lewd act wasn’t caught on video.

“I’m a minimum wage worker, he was commenting on that, on my status just because of my job. He was saying I’m nobody, I’m nothing, I work a silly job. He said that he knows people, he has connections, he can change my life and ruin it,” Holt said.

The San Diego Harbor Police reported to the scene 10 minutes later.

Thakore, who goes by the name Ace Rogers on Instagram and TikTok and has a LinkedIn page stating that he’s the CEO of Doctor Multimedia, a healthcare marketing firm based in San Diego, had his public relations team provide a statement to CBS8, saying that he regrets the altercation.

“What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange,” the statement said.
