• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

This was the most epic trip. We chartered the Aperitivo for my daughter’s 15th birthday. Mark the Captain made us all feel comfortable and safe. His experience and knowledge of the ocean were very apparent. Everyone had a great time swimming, hanging out on the swim float, and paddleboarding. I had no idea how fast 4 hours could go by. I can teach sailing anywhere with water access. Additionally, I work with Santana Sailing at Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach, CA for those without boats.

What is your cancellation policy on boat deliveries?

You can request a refund within 14 days of your delivery. If your A 50% deposit is required to schedule. Contact us and we will process your refund.

Do you offer trips?

We provide cruises and flotillas in the Channel Islands and Sea of Cortez, with the option for international licensing.

How do charter a boat in the Mediterranean?

We provide comprehensive training to prepare you for sailing and chartering anywhere in the world on luxury catamarans and keelboats. The Riviera is focused on serving divers, snorkelers, underwater hunters, photographers and private charters. On the Riviera, you will enjoy a 2-tank local dive trip exploring the reefs and kelp forests of San Clemente, Laguna Beach, and Newport Beach.

The Riviera is a 40ft, Coast Guard certified vessel capable of carrying 30 passengers but we only book 15 divers to maximize your comfort! The Riviera provides tanks, weights, food and drinks. Nitrox is available upon request. For those that scuba dive in Huntington Beach, Cypress and the outlying areas, this is a great opportunity for Orange County diving at its best!

Fees incurred as a result of cancellation cannot be applied to future bookings. 

If a cancellation is made for charter services: 

1. 14 days or more prior to departure, 50% of the charter rate is forfeited.

2. 13 days or less to departure, 100% of the charter rate is forfeited and no refund available.

If a cancellation is made for dive operations:

1. 7 days or more prior to departure, a "rain check" is afforded to the diver to reschedule. 

2. Less than 7 days will result the forfeiture of the spot and 100% of the rate with no refund available. 

3. If individual is sick or unable to dive for any reason, proof of the reason is required for a reschedule, individual will be charged a Dock Fee and Crew Fee before a reschedule occurs.

Journey is a beautiful luxury yacht that can accommodate up to 31 passengers for your ash scattering sea burial service. With ample seating inside and outside the yacht, your larger party is accommodated in comfort.

Journey provides a comfortable, elegant place with ample seating inside and outside the yacht, to hold your special, personal memorial service. Say farewell to your loved one however you see fit. The first mate can participate as little or as much as you would like, and is sensitive and familiar with all cultural traditions.

We are here for you through your difficult time and make every effort to accommodate your needs.

The ash scattering service is 90 minutes, including cruise time to and from the ash scattering destination. In true nautical sea burial tradition, the captain will ring the ship’s bell eight times after the ashes are scattered into the sea, signaling the last watch, and will then circle the site slowly three times in recognition of your loved one. You may also bring flowers to toss into the sea as we circle the site. This is a beautiful and memorable way to say goodbye to your loved one.

A customized certificate with the date, time and GPS coordinates is emailed within a week of the service. This background of the certificate uses a photo from your service showing the flowers floating on the sea with the coastline in the distance.

We have a wireless bluetooth stereo so a family member can bring special music to play throughout the cruise cruise and/or have a special song for the ash scattering ceremony.

Prince Charters was originally founded in 1965 by Captain Doug’s grandfather, Dr. Gilbert Prince. It all began with a love for the sea, and a priest who found a way to use that love to create a very special ministry to the bereaved. The Rev. Gilbert Prince, then rector of St. James, South Pasadena, led a group of clergymen in persuading California’s legislators to change the state law so that families could bring home ashes of their loved ones. Captain Doug continued his grandfather’s legacy serving Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Newport Beach and the many surrounding communities with ash scattering memorial services.

Your chartered boat for scattering ashes at sea in California leaves and returns to the scenic Dana Point/South Laguna Beach coast within a one to two-hour time frame. To meet federal guidelines, we scatter the ashes no less than 3 miles offshore. However, we can also accommodate custom location requests and extended trips. Many folks like to spend extra time with the dolphins and whales that we find during our excursions. For optimal ocean conditions, we recommend a morning departure.

Before boarding your chartered boat for scattering ashes, you will need to have the Permit for Disposition of Cremated Remains from the Orange County Health Care Agency.

If the cremation was done in California, it should have been provided with the ashes. Otherwise, you’ll need to contact the  Orange County Health Care Agency  at 714-480-6700 to obtain the burial permit. It can usually be picked up same-day at their Santa Ana location.

Absolutely! You may bring flowers or wreathes (biodegradable components only) onboard your chartered boat for scattering ashes. Shannon (who made our reservation), Captain Marie and Allison were sympathetic, compassionate, respectful and did a wonderful job explaining the process to us. Right after we put my father’s ashes in the sea and the flowers on the water, we were turning around to head back and encountered a pod of over 100 dolphins! They were playing all around the boat, and there baby dolphins too. It was so very special. We have used Captain Dave’s in the past for whale watching, and will continue to use them in the future. We have used Captain Dave's Burial at sea service for both of my husband parents, now. They are so compassionate and easy to deal with. They also accommodated us by placing my Mother-in-law's ashes in the exact same spot her husband was placed 5 years earlier. Captain Neil and Hannah were so sweet and considerate. The customer service they provide is excellent. They also allowed us to go see a pair of Fin Whales in the area and informed us when one we saw went to the coordinates where we had just placed the ashes. It was very special and made the day so much easier on my husband. We will be returning for a whale watching trip with them soon.

Captain Alex and first mate Will took our family out yesterday morning for an ash scattering service. They were great! It was really nice to be out on the water and they made it a memorable morning. Thanks to everyone at Captain Dave's.

We've been on three trips with Capt Dave's and loved them all. We even saw a humpback whale on our first trip a few summers back with them which is an experience of a lifetime. The trip we took on 8-19-23 was perfect for our occasion. When I learned that Capt Dave's did an ash scattering trip I booked it over other companies. And they did not disappoint. The first cool part is that a hurricane was predicted to come through on our day of going out. I had family flying in from the east coast just for the occasion and it would have been so disappointing to miss the trip entirely because of the storm. However, we were able to work together to change it to the evening before so we could all still enjoy the experience. It turned out to be a beautiful evening--the seas were calm before the storm and the sun even peeked out through the clouds. Our captain, Gary and his assistant Lauren were so kind and respectful. It's not easy losing a loved one and spreading their ashes at sea, but they explained how we were going to do it and allowed our family time to celebrate our loved one in our way and after we finished spreading the ashes we added some biodegradable flowers which ended up floating on top of the water and they circled the area while we all quietly prayed and cherished each other and the moment--It was perfect. Seeing wildlife at sea is not guaranteed, and we always understand that when going out, but it was so lovely to come across some pods of common dolphins swimming alongside before we headed back. We even saw some babies who may not have been more than two weeks old. How amazing to see new life while saying goodbye to a loved one. Overall it was a lovely evening and my entire family of 11 guests loved every moment. Thanks you Capt,, crew, and staff for going above and beyond to make it a perfect occasion for our family!!
