Despite mixed comments from netizens, Penny remains popular on social media. In June, she posted a photo on Instagram, showing off her legs while posing with her sons, Alastair and Aiden. They attended the wedding of Rod's son, Liam Stewart, 29, and his fiancée, Nicole Artukovich.

Hallie Meyer’s new Brooklyn branch of her Irving Place spot deploys the signature cloud of panna on sundaes and affogatos.

Ready for a summery sundae with no less than lemon bar and vanilla ice creams, lemon curd, graham crunch, lemon bar chunks and raspberry compote? It shares the spotlight with granitas, fruit and coffee, all making their debut at Hallie Meyer’s new Greenpoint branch of the Irving Place spot she opened in 2019. The signature cloud of panna, or whipped cream, is parked on top, as it is on sundaes and affogatos. Ms. Meyer is a daughter of Danny Meyer, and her ice creams are freshly churned on-premises in a bevy of rotating flavors, including several made with chocolate. This location is more spacious, with indoor and outdoor seating and a room for parties.

Taking its cue from Greece’s seaside tavernas, this addition to the Williamsburg waterfront with seating indoors and out is done in whitewashed stucco and white marble. Young Gourmands Club at Le B

Recalling her experiences with fine dining as a child, the chef and restaurateur Angie Mar is welcoming youngsters up to the age of 15 to have dinner in her luxe West Village restaurant this summer. It’s very similar to a program that the original Four Seasons restaurant ran for a number of years. The three-course menu, $60, will include grilled cheese prepared tableside, lollipops of lamb bourguignon, fancy chicken nuggets and a banana split with flambéed bananas.The club will run July 23rd through August 10th (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) to coincide with restaurant week, July 22 through August 18.

Klocke Estate

Increasingly the Hudson Valley is home to distilleries of all sorts. A grand newcomer, in the works since 2016 but finally opening this week, is this 160-acre estate near Hudson with its own orchards and vineyards. It’s making spirits in the Cognac and Calvados styles, and also fruit brandies and eaux de vie. Its spacious restaurant with views of the gleaming distillery, orchards, vineyards and the Catskills has the chef Becky Kempter in charge of the kitchen. Local ingredients meet French techniques, as in pork porterhouse au poivre. (Wednesday)

Papaya King

Why did the hot dog (and papaya drink) cross the road? To reopen in a new location after its previous sliver of a store on the corner of Third Avenue and East 86th Street fell victim to developers, and closed last year.

Sartiano’s at the Hedges Inn

After he failed to move an outpost of his Manhattan club, Zero Bond, into the venerable Hedges Inn in East Hampton, the restaurateur Scott Sartiano took a more conservative approach and is opening a copy of his SoHo restaurant instead; his company will also manage the 13-room hotel. The menu, overseen by Alfred Portale and Chris Lewnes, tilts to crowd-pleasers like tuna tartare, baked clams, seafood salad, bucatini with lobster and veal Parm. For now it will be open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, reservations only with the last one at 8 p.m. and just for the season. (Thursday)

Looking Ahead

“widow clicquot”.

A 90-minute biopic of Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin-Clicquot (1777-1866), best known as Veuve Clicquot on the orange Champagne label, will open in theaters Friday. It’s based on the book “The Widow Clicquot,” by Tilar J. Mazzeo. It presents the early 19th century world of Champagne through the life of the young widow — portrayed by Haley Bennett, one of the producers — who became a winemaker, innovator and entrepreneur, meeting many challenges, including the Napoleonic wars, along the way.

Grands Moulins de Paris

You might not try your hand at making a Cronut anytime soon, but there’s an incentive now that its creator, the chef Dominique Ansel, has started selling the imported flour he uses. For years he has been relying on flours from Grands Moulins de Paris, a company that has supplied chefs for more than a century. For home bakers he has selected soft wheat T55 flour, milled from French wheat to a finer texture than American all-purpose flour, and with less gluten to enhance delicate pastry-making. Michelin California

In the run-up to the announcement on Aug. 5 of the ratings for California restaurants, Michelin has added 13 new places with potential for stars, to its roster. They are Barro Santos, Danbi, Grá, Leopardo, Mae Malai Thai House of Noodles, and Stella in Los Angeles; Azalina’s, Hed 11, and Tiya in San Francisco; Silver Omakase in Santa Barbara, Burdell in Oakland, Molti Amici in Healdsburg, and Ambrogio by Acquerello in La Jolla.
