A TikToker posted a video of "Kaos," Walton Laurie's 361-foot luxury yacht, as it was moored outside her "front door."

"Oh wow, this thing is huge," Bridget Brick says in the video, adding that the yacht "looks like a small city."

@bridgetbrix Never a dull day in Miami, as another, mega yacht pulls up outside my front door. Did you know it’s easy to look up any information about a yacht? I learned this while in Portofino, and from this little search, you can tell who owns yachts & who rents them. 🙊 # #miami # #miamilife # #yacht # #yachts ♬ original sound - Bridget Brick

Kaos, billionaire businesswoman Nancy Walton Laurie’s $300 million megayacht, grabbed headlines for being the target of eco-activists on 17th July 2023. The 360 feet Oceanco mammoth has since avoided people and ports after being defaced with red and black paint. As any owner would do, Walton moved the ship commissioned in 2008 by then-Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Abdullah bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, to Monaco, where she arrived on 27th July 2023. The ship didnt rest even after a ten-day voyage to Monaco, where it was docked for a short period of four days.

kaos yacht monaco

One would imagine it could be owing to sky-high charges of one of the world’s most expensive marinas where a superyacht owner is expected to pay up to $4000 daily. But remember, the owner is an heiress with a $300 million boat and $10 billion net worth, so money is clearly not an issue here. I guess it has more to do with the owner saving her stunning vessel that houses an oversized aquarium from vandalism.

kaos yacht monaco

Kaos superyacht is currently docked in La Ciotat, a town on France’s Mediterranean coast, per  Marine Traffic . Avoiding ports and keeping the vessel in motion is one effective way to prevent such harmful incidents. Eco mob Futuro Vegetal (Vegetable Future) didnt stop at trashing the 360ft vessel using fire extinguishers when it was moored in Ibiza. They added insult to injury by posing with a sign stating ‘You Consume Others Suffer,’ which went viral. Negative publicity and the ire of common people are not something one looks forward to when relaxing in the pool of your 4,523 GT yacht.

The out-of-sight, out-of-mind mantra may work for businesswoman Nancy Walton Laurie unless a smaller boat with activists follows to defeat her plan of action, which seems unlikely. Kaos looks safe for now but will guests frolic in the blue Mediterranean waters is questionable. The megayacht purchased from the Qatar royal family was dubbed a floating palace with tons of stone and marble in 2019.

kaos yacht monaco

The humongous boat accommodates 31 guests in 16 cabins. It is opulent in the truest sense of the term, laced with materials like Crystal Caviar insets, silk carpets, Iranian white onyx, and Golden Spider stone. A vessel that houses such finery is worthy of protection, and heartbreaking to see it wrecked by activists. I hope Kaos Yacht finds some peace on the high seas from the chaos that ensued.

KAOS Yacht – Extravagant $300M Superyacht

KAOS yacht (formerly JUBILEE and AL MENWAR) is an award-winning superyacht that was recently refitted with a completely redesigned interior.

At 110 metres (361ft) and 4,523 tons, she was the largest yacht ever built in the Netherlands at the time of her launch in 2017.

The vessel was recently spotted off the coast of southern Spain before dropping anchor in the beach town of Marbella.

Kaos yacht interior

The interior of the motor yacht was originally designed by Sam Sorgiovanni who is originally from Australia and aims to unite practicality with beauty through his unique designs.

The vessel was made completely wheelchair accessible including elevators and barrier-free access to all decks.

The process took a year and with the help of the British designer Reymond Langton, the interior was transformed.

KAOS has room for 31 guests in 16 cabins. This includes a lavish owner’s suite which consists of two separate bedrooms.

There are also four VIP suites and ten standard suites with ensuite bathrooms. All guest cabins are located on the upper deck.

45 staff distributed across 24 cabins find space on the lower levels of the vessel. Only the cabins for the captain and first officer are located on the bridge deck.

The KAOS yacht was designed with maximum comfort in mind. Her interior includes lavish facilities such as a spacious elevator, a steam room, a full gym, as well as an indoor beach club.

Originally she was constructed with Middle Eastern design in mind which includes features such as a large majelis, which is a dedicated seating and entertainment area meant for hosting guests.

The KAOS yacht also has a large cinema, a sauna, and full spa facilities. Below the deck, there is a separate crew gym and a small hospital in case of medical emergencies.

The interior design can be described as lavish and luxurious. White and blue carpeted floors with intricate designs compliment the exterior of the vessel and its signature aqua color.

Golden accents and cream upholstery go well with the wooden elements such as the teak flooring.

Opulent furnishing with many indirect lighting accents creates a feeling of coziness and luxury.

Specifications

At the time of her launch in 2017, the KAOS yacht was the largest yacht ever built by the custom yacht builder Oceano as well as the largest yacht built in the Netherlands.

At a length of 110 meters (361ft), a beam of 16.4 meters (53 ft), and a maximum draft of 4.4 meters (14.5 ft), she is currently ranked as the 39th largest motor yacht in the world, together with motor yachts ANNA, RADIANT and AL RAYA who measure the same length.

She displaces 4,523 tons and is known for her unusual design, which is very sleek and minimalist.

KAOS can reach speeds of up to 19 knots with an average speed of 15 knots which is not the fastest in her weight category but still impressive for her large size.

As expected from Oceano, she was constructed primarily from aluminum and steel and has a fuel capacity of 391,000 liters as well as a 230,000-litre freshwater tank. She is powered by impressive MTU engines fuelling two propellers.

The KAOS yacht can host 31 guests in 16 cabins as well as 45 crew in 24 cabins. Her maximum range is estimated to be somewhere around 5,000 nautical miles.

80690623

The KAOS yacht is an exceptionally beautiful yacht that was built prioritizing modern and minimalist design.

Lobanov Design is responsible for her eye-catching exterior, which focuses on futuristic elements combined with optical illusions.

Established in 2007, this design studio is known to be young, offering unique perspectives and modern approaches.

She was built with curved lines in mind incorporating elements of glass and metal in a nautical context.

Her all-around glass fronts create an optical illusion letting the yacht appear to have several more decks than she actually has.

The so-called trompe l’oeil effect lets KAOS appear sleek and elongated, setting her apart from traditional yacht design. Her designer Lobanov describes the modeling process for KAOS.

“The 3D modeling was quite a challenging task, which pleased my mathematical part of the brain. Each of the layers meets and splits under certain rules, which can be noticed from different angles.”

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 99681110-1024x683.jpg

Her exterior is white with light blue accents, which are contrasted by the many darkly tinted windows.

She has four decks, the largest of which is the aft which has a sizable swimming pool with a built-in aquarium and seating areas.

Several smaller decks are located on higher levels, although most of them are hidden in shaded areas.

Close to the top of the superstructure, a small jacuzzi is situated, allowing guests to enjoy incredible views while relaxing.

At the bow, a helipad is located, including refueling facilities for small to medium-sized helicopter aircraft. Below the helipad, the mooring deck is cleverly concealed for aesthetic purposes.

At the stern of the vessel, the KAOS yacht has an extendable swimming platform that can be closed completely when the yacht is underway.

This platform leads directly to a lounge area inside the yacht, complete with a state-of-the-art entertainment system, TV, and storage space.

On the starboard side of the aft, there is a separate platform for docking tenders and releasing water toys.

KAOS also possesses a modern underwater lighting system and state-of-the-art stabilizers for the comfort of guests when the vessel is underway or at anchor.

Toys and equipment

The KAOS yacht carries at least two tenders, one of which almost looks like a miniature version of the main vessel with the same blue and white design and tinted windows.

They were built by Pascoe International , a renowned company specializing in tenders for superyachts.

She carries a wide array of water toys, including several jet skis, water bobs, and paddleboards.

Previous names

Originally the KAOS yacht was built in the Netherlands by Oceano under the name SECRET III. Upon her launch, she was officially named JUBILEE and then renamed AL MENWAR by the royal family of Qatar, the House of Thani.

Walmart heiress Nancy Walton Laurie’s megayacht has become a favorite target for eco-activists. In less than 60 days, the 360-foot Oceanco yacht has been vandalized twice by paint-spraying environmentalists from two different groups.

The ultra-luxurious yacht,  Kaos , was ordered by the Emir of Qatar and was delivered as the  Jubilee  in 2017. Walton Laurie, heiress to the multibillion-dollar fortune of Walmart founder Sam Walton, purchased it the following year for about $300 million. In recent months,  Kaos  and her crew have operated between Barcelona, Ibiza, Monaco and other landmark ports of the Mediterranean yachting circuit, according to AIS data provided by  Pole Star.

On July 16, a small group from the Spanish social and environmental action group Futuro Vegetal went to  Kaos ‘ berth on the Avinguda de les Andanes, a public promenade at the heart of Ibiza’s waterfront. The team brought fire extinguishers filled with paint, and they sprayed the yacht’s stern with a spatter of red and black. The  Kaos ‘ crew attempted to hose off the damage, and members of the civil guard detained the two activists involved.

BREAKING: Oceanco's 110m superyacht JUBILEE renamed KAOS

By Katia Damborsky   28 September 2020

Following a major refit at Lurssen's facilities Hamburg, the 110m (361') JUBILEE has received a name change and has taken to the seas as motor yacht KAOS .

Flying in the face of early reports that she was to be renamed 'Secret III', the yacht formerly known as JUBILEE has emerged from Lurssen's facilities as luxury yacht  KAOS .

The superyacht made headlines when she became the largest Dutch-built yacht ever delivered in 2017, and she created even more buzz in the yachting industry when she was announced as the largest yacht sale of the year in 2018.

All eyes were on the 4,523 GT superyacht when she went into the Lurssen facilities for a refit in March 2019.  She reemerged in July 2020 and since then her AIS data has been updated to reflect her new name.

aerial shot of luxury yacht kaos, formerly known as jubilee, an oceanco yacht with blue superstructure and helipad on the foredeck

As well as a new name, luxury yacht KAOS is sporting a number of changes to her stern and aft deck area. As more pictures become available, we'll have a clearer picture of what changes have been made.

Her award-winning exterior has been left largely untouched, with Lobanov Design creating her turquoise superstructure and crisp white hull.

KAOS created even more buzz in the yachting industry when she was announced as the largest yacht sale of the year in 2018.

KAOS currently ranks at number 42 in the World's Top 100 Superyachts as measured by GT. She comes in at 36 in terms of length.

The motor yacht will now undergo sea trials before being redelivered.

I tutored the children of Russia's elite amid the backdrop of war. One teenager said he had his own massage therapist.

  • I used to teach the children of Russian oligarchs and politicians.
  • Our classrooms were penthouse apartments, yachts, and mansions in exclusive Moscow suburbs.
  • The outbreak of war in Ukraine revealed just how isolated the kids were.

This essay is based on the recollections of Cameron Manley, 24, a news fellow at Business Insider who previously worked as a private tutor in Moscow and, following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Monaco. The names of students have been changed to protect their identity.

In late 2021, I started working for an international tutoring agency in Moscow.

The agency counted some of Russia's elite among its clientele — so I was quickly thrust into a world of private jets, guarded estates, and personal chauffeurs.

I worked in Moscow until Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, when I was relocated to Monaco.

We charged $150 per hour minimum for classes, but more experienced tutors and specific packages for private-school assessments or English-language testing would cost more.

Tutoring does not require any kind of formal qualification, but parents were still often happy to part with their cash as long as the tutors had a native-English accent and some connection to either the British private school system or some of the UK's top universities.

$150 was also small change for many of these families, which was reflected in the various classroom settings — Monaco penthouses, Moscow mansions, and yachts.

The money the Russian elite were willing to throw at young, inexperienced tutors was unbelievable — and frankly quite frightening.

I had acquaintances who worked as governors or nannies who were earning well into six figures.

Others were offered similarly extortionate salaries to spend their summers teaching on yachts in places like St. Barts in the Caribbean or sailing around the world.

I taught in luxurious villas and penthouse apartments

Often the children we taught, who were from four to around 18 years old, had private drivers who hurried them about in tinted Range Rovers or Mercedes-Benz cars.

In Moscow, many of our classes took place in Rublevka, an elite guarded estate in the west of the capital, where Russian President Vladimir Putin owns a home.

Many of the kids we taught lived in a world entirely different from any we had known.

A colleague of mine did after-school classes there with an eight-year-old boy called Ivan.

One week his family had been planning a weekend trip to get away from the capital: "I hope the weather isn't too bad so we can take the helicopter and don't have to drive," he said.

We also homeschooled two pupils: Alexei, 13, and his younger sister, Elena, 11.

The first time I met Alexei, he walked into our office sporting $1,000 Balenciaga trainers and a watch worth at least five times as much.

He was nevertheless a pleasant child but, like Ivan, appeared somewhat disconnected from reality.

In one class, he was shocked to hear that we didn't receive regular pampering from staff at home: "It's been seven months since you had a massage? I have a massage every day, I have my own massage therapist," he told us.

Elena was less communicative and didn't seem to enjoy the lavish lifestyle she had.

"What have I done to deserve this? I hate my life," she would often say.

My colleagues and I became increasingly concerned about her well-being as time went on.

She didn't enjoy classes alone and wanted to be with friends in a normal school.

But her parents insisted.

She seem tied to the life into which she had been born.

The job constantly surprised me

I met two types of parents in the job: Those who spent thousands of dollars on their children because they cared about them, and those who spent the money so that they didn't have to think about them.

I felt that many of the parents fell into the latter category.

Frequently, we had little, if any, contact with the parents, and we would usually deal with nannies or drivers instead.

It felt like many of the parents found you to be an eye-sore in their luxurious lives.

Once, I had to teach a lesson at a seaside villa in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, an exclusive area between Nice in the south of France and Monaco.

The home was on a private road, and I entered through a large automatic gate that was littered with security cameras.

The house was spread out over two floors, with a swimming pool, a fully-equipped gym, a sauna, and a steam room.

When I arrived, they told me that the kids, aged four and six, had not finished their personal training session and that I would have to wait outside in the street.

Eventually the nanny said she would find me somewhere to sit "out of sight," so I was hurried into a large store cupboard in the furthest corner of the house. The kids strolled in about an hour later.

Some tried to get their children out of Russia after the invasion began

When the war in Ukraine broke out, a number of families came to us looking to find school placements for their children either in the West or in the United Arab Emirates , where many wealthy Russians fled at the outbreak of the war.

There was one family with three young children who were looking to find schools in Dubai.

Speaking to us in perfect English on Zoom with a background that boasted enormous paintings and palatial pillars, they seemed polite, well-mannered, and bright.

We later discovered that the kids were the grandchildren of a senior Russian politician who had played a major role in starting the war in Ukraine.

The irony was not lost on us that some of those who had played a key part in helping Putin initiate his brutal, unprovoked invasion were now trying to help their children escape Russia.

The children often brought up politics and the war

The company we worked for had explicitly told us to avoid discussing politics with the pupils, as the government was cracking down on protestors, and it could have put us and our pupils in danger.

But the children often brought the topic up themselves, their comments ringing with the ideology they had likely absorbed at home.

"Ukraine is ours, after all," Alexei told me in one class just after the invasion began in February.

Ivan, referring to a picture of Putin, once said, "Oh, he's amazing! Don't you think he's amazing?"

"You should open an office in Kyiv. It's beautiful there," one parent also wryly said to me.

There were occasional breakthroughs

We taught many different pupils but only one really seemed to appreciate just how lucky they were.

Elizaveta, 15, frequently expressed her discontent with Putin's Russia.

"We're killing thousands of innocent Ukrainians. It's awful," she once said.

That week, she had been kicked out of school for dyeing her hair and had asked her parents to book some additional classes so that she didn't fall behind.

Her parents were looking to send her to an English private school that September.

"The best thing I can do now is leave Russia," she told me. "That's the last option I have. Perhaps from abroad, I might be able to do some good."

Elizaveta was an anomaly, and most of the time, you had to settle for smaller victories.

I distinctly remember telling our homeschooled pupils that my colleagues and I had decided to leave Russia .

Elena seemed like she could not have cared less.

But Alexei looked genuinely upset.

It was as though the prism through which he saw the world had been, if not broken, then at the very least a little scratched.

At the Yacht Club de Monaco it's time for the 5th Superyacht Chef Competition

TORINO, Italy, March 15, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The 5th Superyacht Chef Competition is coming up at the Yacht Club de Monaco. Organised by the YCM in partnership with Bluewater, it takes place on 4th April 2024 under the aegis of YCM’s La Belle Classe Academy training centre. This internationally renowned celebration of the art of fine cuisine at sea puts the spotlight on an essential aspect of yachting professions. "Every year, this event brings together talented chefs from all over the world, ready to take up the challenge of creating unforgettable culinary experiences as a showcase of gastronomic excellence on superyachts, the Superyacht Chef Competition continues to make its mark on the yachting world while promoting the values of our collective ‘Monaco Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach", says YCM General Secretary Bernard d’Alessandri.

“On behalf of my son, I would like to express my gratitude to you all for supporting our association. Your assistance is invaluable,” said Chef Yannick Alléno. The 5th Superyacht Chef Competition promises again to surprise the eyes and taste buds, the end results being judged by a Jury of top professionals supervised by Joël Garault, President of Goûts et Saveurs.

Chef Glenn Viel succeeds Yannick Alléno to head up this international Jury. The three-Michelin star chef is passionate about local produce, combining his Breton roots with Provencal culinary traditions and stands out for his eco-responsible cuisine. Winner of the previous edition, Marco Tognon (M/Y Planet – 72m) is also coming to give his opinion on the quality of the dishes presented alongside Chef Danny Davies. Host of "Behind the Line with Chef Danny Davies" and author of two vegan books, Danny Davies has over 25 years of experience on private yachts. Finalist of Objectif Top Chef, Chef Victoria Vallenilla completes the Jury line-up with Chef Julien Roucheteau, a former student of the Ferrandi School in Paris, two time Michelin star, and Chef Fred Ramos, a disciple of the renowned chef Jacques Maximin who will judge the cuisine and way of working aspects.

This year again the nine superyacht chefs selected to take part have to comply with an anti-waste criterium under the watchful eye of Chef Duncan Biggs, requiring contestants to use every ingredient in the mystery basket, or risk a penalty from an external scoring grid. Three rounds to the grand finale of excellence. Participating in this fifth edition are: Paulo Ucha Longhi (M/Y Hercules – 50m), Joelyanne Le Faucher (M/Y Artemis – 33m), Mateusz Mitka (M/Y Lady Britt – 63m), Margot Laurent (M/Y Leonardo III – 43m), Enzo Di Gabro (M/Y L.A.U.L. – 39m), Giacomo Seregni (M/Y Severin’s – 55m), Jérémie Gruson (M/Y Victoria del mar – 50m) and Ava Faulkner (M/Y Light Holic – 60m). The criteria behind the contest’s success have been retained where contestants only find out what’s in the basket of mystery ingredients five minutes before they get behind their stoves. Thinking on their feet and being super-adaptable is key. During this time, the public can add a missing ingredient to the basket. They are then invited to vote for the best culinary presentation adding another interactive dimension to this prestigious competition. As they compete to show off their ingenuity and expertise, participating chefs always manage to keep spectators in suspense right through to the final showdown. In a nutshell, all the ingredients are there to ensure this competition lives up to its reputation as a major event.

110m superyacht Kaos arrives in London

The 110-metre superyacht Kaos has arrived on the Thames in London after a mammoth transatlantic passage from Miami. She set out on the almost 4,000 nautical mile journey in early May, stopping just once en route in the Azores and again at the mouth of Thames, opposite Southend-on-Sea.

The yacht was built by Dutch yard Oceanco and refitted by German yard Lürssen as part of a 17-month project which touched 1,500 square metres of interior space and totally reconfigured the transom and pool area. Kaos' AIS signal suggests she may be returning to Lürssen to undertake further refit or maintenance work.

The 4501GT was delivered as Jubilee in 2017. At the time of her launch she was around the 38th largest yacht in the world, and the largest yacht of her builder, Oceanco. Now, Oceanco's flagship is 127-metre Koru , the yacht believed to have been commissioned for Jeff Bezos, while Kaos is around the 55th largest yacht in the world.

Kaos ' unique metallic blue exterior is by Barcelona-based designer Lobanov Design and centres around tricking the eye with the use of faux decks designed to give the impression of a taller vessel. The yacht's industrial-looking funnel is another focal point and favourite element of the designer, and the shape of the decks is unusual too, curving in such a way that gives the yacht the look of an island from above.

The yacht's original interiors are by Sam Sorgiovanni . At the time of her delivery, it was estimated that the yacht had more marble and more stone installed on board than any other vessel, with inspiration drawn from Casablanca's melting pot of European and Arabic culture. Crystal Caviar insets, custom silk carpets, Iranian white onyx, Golden Spider stone were all key components of the yacht's styling.

The yacht changed hands in 2018, with a last known asking price of €275 million at the time of sale. The subsequent refit saw UK-based firm Reymond Langton take over the styling, undertaking a number of modifications to reflect the new owner's tastes.

The yacht has remained largely private since the refit. She had an 8.5-metre pool on the aft deck alongside a 14-seater dining table and a main saloon spanning 135 square metres.

Kaos is one of the largest yachts to visit London .
