CYC FACILITIES

Members and visitors to the Canberra Yacht Club, located in Lotus Bay, Lake Burley Griffin Canberra, enjoy facilities that attract yacht owners from all over the country to race and cruise. Trailer yachts and dinghies have easy access to this beautiful water-way which can be both challenging and idyllic. Visitors are always welcome!

Members also have access to grass parking for dinghies and fenced storage for trailable yachts. Of course, showers, toilets and change rooms. Our well stocked boat shop can help with rigging, rope, clothing and paint, open 7 days during summer. As well as sailing, there is a lot to do and see in Canberra & the Region. If you are visiting Canberra for a regatta or a sailing course, why not take some extra time to see the sights.

Reservation without a deposit of 50% of charter are only held for 24 hours, all reservations booked within a 7 day window of trip will be required to deposit 50% of their charter fee. All charters within a 7 day booking window will require a full payment to reserve their charter.

$625/ hr -min 4 hrs booking required.   $500/hr after that,  plus slip, marina, taxes & fees. All charity related events will receive discount, must provide proof of EIN.

Alcoholic drinks including beer, wine or other items is solely the responsibility of the clients as we do not carry a liquor license. If however, depending on your food catering choice or server choice for your event we can help assist with the caterer providing some level of these items and related services, but our staff cannot reluctantly be directly involved in providing such items to your guests.

For selection on the yacht is modeled four levels A: You can bring your own and coordinate with our event coordinator, B: We can provide a multi-station appetizer selection, C: We can help you select a caterer for buffet style with many variations, D: we can provide an entertaining on-board chef who also can teach techniques while cooking if you so choose.

Founded in 1983, the Club is located on the seventeenth floor of Preston Center’s most prestigious office building offering a spectacular 30-mile view that encompass the Dallas downtown skyline and surrounding Metroplex. Situated at the Dallas-North Tollway and Northwest Highway, the Club is easily accessible from the Park Cities, Downtown, North Dallas and suburban areas.

Well-known for its food, beverage and member services, the Club caters for almost every event. The private banquet rooms serve intimate parties for eight to receptions for five hundred. Offering a wealth of luxurious spacious living areas befitting her pedigree build, a yacht charter aboard this classic vessel has all the ingredients to be truly magical.

Guest Accommodation

Built in 1962, Southern Cross offers guest accommodation for up to 11 guests in 6 suites comprising five double cabins and one single cabin. There are 6 beds in total, including 5 queen, 5 doubles and 1 single. She is also capable of carrying up to 5 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

You and your guests can enjoy a variety of experiences on Southern Cross, particularly a deck jacuzzi, perfect to enjoy the scenery with your favourite drink in hand.

Whatever your activities on your charter, you'll find some impressive features are seamlessly integrated to help you, particularly Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing you to stay connected at all times, should you wish. You can stay comfortable on board whatever the weather, with air conditioning during your charter.

Performance & Range

Southern Cross is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Powered by twin Gardner engines, she comfortably cruises at 9 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 12 knots with a range of up to 1,600 nautical miles from her 12,720 litre fuel tanks at 10 knots.

Set against the backdrop of your chosen cruising ground, you and your guests can enjoy fun on the water with the collection of water toys and accessories aboard Southern Cross. Guests can experience the thrill and adventure of riding one of the SeaDoo GTI WaveRunners. Also there are two kayaks - a tranquil and relaxing way to pass the time. If that isn't enough Southern Cross also features fishing equipment and snorkelling equipment. Southern Cross features two tenders, but leading the pack is a Semi-Rigid Tender to transport you in style.

The Olympia Yacht Club

Oyc parking lot security fence design options.

Here are descriptions and renderings prepared by Bill Sloane and MSGS Architects for possible security fencing for the parking lot. Please read and review the options. Separately, you will receive an email ballot for making an advisory vote designed to gauge member interest in any of these options.

All options except Option Zero will use electrically operated sliding gates at the entrance and exit to the parking that open with the ‘Open Door’ application OYC now uses for all entrance doors. When leaving the parking lot, a sensor in the pavement will automatically open the exit gate.

Option 1 required the ADA ramp to the entrance of the clubhouse to be rebuilt so that the ramp begins and ends in the secure parking lot. The present ramp is legally too steep, it has a steeper slope than the maximum allowable 1:12 slope per ADA regulations. The ramp can remain as is in Options 2 and 3, but if rebuilt, it must be at a 1:12 slope, which means it will be approximately 48 feet long, as the rise to the clubhouse is 48”.

The fire hydrant and the Post Indicator Valve (PIC), the red painted column adjacent to the fire hydrant, must remain at their current locations.

Option 1 would require cutting down the red leaf maple tree at the southwest corner of the clubhouse and eliminating the fountain directly south of the existing ADA ramp.

Bayview food delivery by semi-trucks and other trucks use the entrance to our parking lot to pull in and back up to the Bayview loading dock. Because of this the entrance sliding gate will be about 16’-0” wide with strong steel pipe bollards protecting the fencing. OYC has always allowed Bayview to use OYC’s parking lot to let trucks back up to their loading dock and Bayview has always allowed OYC to use the land Bayview owns directly north of their building as a storage lot for OYC’s needs.

Option 1 requires members to go through (2) security gates, one at the parking lot and one at the docks (existing) to get to their boat. This is in addition to the vehicle sliding gate to enter the parking lot.

Options 2 and 3 requires members to go through (2) security gates, one at the public boardwalk that runs west - east and one at the docks (existing) to get to their boat. This is in addition to the vehicle sliding gate to enter the parking lot. This design makes the walkway between the clubhouse and the caretaker’s cottage private to OYC members only.

Pricing has not been estimated at this time.
