Flying Fifteen High Performance Training Course – May 2024

Following the success of 2023 series, the National YC will once more offer an open series of coached training sessions on Mondays. As per last year we will offer 2 time slots of 3 hours (with an objective of 2 hours afloat). The series will be delivered by Head Coach Thomas Chaix. Learning from last year experience the maximum number of boats per time slot is 12.
Monday 20 May, Monday 27 May, Monday 3 June, Monday 10 June (reserve Monday 24 June in case of a cancellation decided at least 48 hours before a scheduled session due to weather)
Time slot 1: 14.00-17.00 Time slot 2: 18.00-21.00
Price for the full series: €140 / boat
Each session will have specific objective which may be reassessed depending on weather conditions on the day.
- Setting up the boat, speed and discussing the 3 essentials (trim, steering, balance)
- Nailing the boat handling (accelerations, tacks, hoists, jibes, drops)
- Introduction to effective starting (the box, the runway, timings)
- Putting it together with practice races.

29er pre-summer coaching 2024 – series 1
"Boat handling & completing race size courses"
Following demand and to launch the summer racing season, the first coaching series is proposed. Coaches will focus on boat handling skills to decrease handling errors leading to capsizes and improve fluidity in delivering all key manoeuvres. At the completion of the programme, coaches will produce a progress report to all sailors.
Sessions will start rigged and ready for briefing at 13.00 and is expected to be finished by 17.00. Dates: 21-04, 12-05, 18-05 (Saturday), 26-05
Cost of the programme: €120/sailor
The club 29er is available for this programme and must be requested to the head coach prior to booking.
Topper & ILCA 4 Pre-Summer Coaching 2024 – Series 1
" Starting well and first decision"

Membership Fees
Ordinary members are generally members with a boat, availing of our launch service and all other facilities. Family membership is for up to two adults and two children. Crew members are members who crew for existing Ordinary or Family members – generally on boats that race.
Swinging moorings in the Coal Harbour and West Bight are available to our members at attractive rates – please contact our office for more detail.
Membership fees are due annually, and a description of each tier can be found on our membership page .
Mooring Fees
The club has a number of moorings, in various parts of the harbour including the West Bight, available to it. These are rented to members on a seasonal basis, and are serviced over the winter. The launch is operated daily during the summer season, and on a reduced schedule in winter.
Dinghy Fees
Mooring and dinghy fees last updated 2024-01-13.
Dinghy parking, with easy access to the slip, is available to members on a seasonal basis. In winter the ‘high level’ park is used by Frostbite competitors, while the area immediately adjacent to the club is used for the winter storage of members’ larger craft. There is no provision for storage of road trailers.
