“ Sarafsa is the only 269-foot superyacht that has a two-story owner’s penthouse apartment,” designer Andrew Winch told Robb Report . “It’s a feature that doesn’t exist on 90 percent of yachts.”

'Sarafsa' Superyacht

The duplex includes an owner’s suite with a vast dressing room and walk-in wardrobe, a marble en suite with shower and full-sized bath, and a private salon forward with a bar. For new owners looking to maximize the space with minimum refit cost, there is a staff cabin and VIP that Winch suggests converting into a children’s cabin and private study. Open exterior decks forward and aft allow for a steady sea breeze, as the owner—who was last aboard his yacht in the summer of 2021—used to regularly enjoy.

The owner’s previous yacht of the same name was a 179-foot Damen delivered in 1997. That yacht was originally intended to be no larger than 98 feet so that it could be kept in the small bay near his home in Capriana, northern Italy, a perk that its final length prevented. It shared a Venetian-style Winch interior like Sarafsa ’s—burgundy and old gold with a large amount of heavy dark mahogany paneling. The biggest difference between the two is Sarafsa ’s immense 3,179 gross tonnages.

The vast 49-foot beam was defined by the owner’s request for a sun deck swimming pool that could remain filled while underway. To mitigate any roll, the boat was built to be wide and steady—at least 20% percent wider than most other 269-foot yachts.

The sun deck also contains a spa—hammam, sauna, massage room and a television mounted on ceiling tracks to be viewed from all angles. There is also a touch-and-go helipad aft. Two custom-built Winch-designed limousines and open tenders are stored on the main deck concealed behind opening hull doors, though there is a concealed crane on the sundeck to lift and store two additional tenders on the helipad when not in use.

Guests have the option of boarding the yacht from a waterside door starboard and stepping straight into a lift that ascends from the waterline to the sundeck. “It held the record as the longest lift on a 269-foot yacht until we designed Phoenix II ,” says Winch. The service lift goes one level further, descending all the way to the tank deck, and a second starboard hull door specifically for diving.

The informal salon on the bridge deck features a bar that is designed around one of the owner’s favorite hotels in Milan. Guests sit in armchairs rather than bar stools and the bar tender stands at eye level on a lowered floor.

'Sarafsa' Superyacht

“We mimicked that hotel bar on his first yacht, and he loved it so much we installed two sunken bars aboard Sarafsa ,” says Winch. The bridge deck salon also has a piano, fireplace (though never lit) and a “TV lounge”—one central television surrounded by 16 smaller televisions to “watch all television channels simultaneously.”

The six en suite cabins are dressed in cream, pink and pistachio-hued silks and named after Mediterranean destinations, such as Santorini, Portofino and Monaco. Marble colonnades and ornate flooring sit alongside intricate wooden inlaid surfaces. In contrast, the primary suite—named Sharma—has a bold color palette laced in thick velvet and a theatrical headboard. It’s in keeping with the dramatic deep reds and blues found elsewhere in the yacht, though Winch believes the interior lends itself to a light-filled, contemporary alternative.

“The wood paneling can easily be replaced with cream silk panels or painted white,” he says. “The architecture and joinery provide a perfect foundation without having to rip everything out.”

The lower deck houses accommodation for 23 crew and nine staff cabins with a continuous corridor that links the amidships engine room to the forward and aft areas, including a security office. Other key areas include a hair/beauty salon, a dedicated owner’s galley opposite the formal dining room and an 11-seat cinema.

In recent years the sun deck pool was replaced with a deep therapeutic jacuzzi that enjoys a counterflow current for fitness swimming. It sits under a retractable roof, sheltered from view and shaded from the sun, and mirrors the pool design aboard the 403-foot yacht Golden Odyssey , once owned by Prince Khaled bin Sultan, brother of Prince Fahad Bin Sultan, before it was sold at auction in Malta for an estimated €150 million ($162 million) in October 2022.

With an influx of gigayachts now coming onto the market, and American owners looking to build increasingly larger yachts, interest in refitting yachts like Golden Odyssey and Sarafsa is gaining real traction, says Nelson.

SARAFSA Yacht – Elite $150M Superyacht

SARASFA cost the 150 million dollars and costs about an average of 10-15 million dollars annually.

sarafsa yacht back image

SARAFSA yacht interior

The interior of the SARAFSA yacht was beautifully designed by Andrew Winch Design , a company based in London, famously known for its expert yacht engineering designs.

Andrew Winch’s designs are famous for their involvement in the creation of the Boeing 737 plane.

Along with this, they also have a hefty number of superyachts in their portfolio; one of these is the Madame Gu superyacht owned by Andrei Skotch which spans a length of 99 meters and was launched back on February 7, 2013.

Another is the Dilbar superyacht, launched back on November 14, 2015, which has an overall length of 156 meters. Dilbar is currently owned by Alisher Usmanov.

Inside the SARAFSA are some incredible amenities for guests to utilize. She has a six-deck structure, a garden-style dining room, a spa, a stunning retractable roof on the sun deck for sunbathing, and even a full-out helipad. She also has access to a personal car.

Welcoming guests and crew is also no problem for the SARASFA. She can comfortably welcome 12 guests by utilizing her spacious six cabins and can also hold 20 crew members at a time, courtesy of her ten crew cabins.

She weighs a hefty 3,180 tons and is being powered by MTU engines three times 450 kilowatts.

SARAFSA is for sale.

Published 09 June 2022

The 82m (269ft) SARAFSA has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure constructed to Lloyd’s classification and delivered by British shipyard Devonport Yachts in 2008. Inside and out she is the single vision of Winch Design and her naval architecture is by Burness Corlett Three Quays.

SARAFSA is a substantial yacht with six guest decks and an interior volume of 3,179GT

This is a yacht of extraordinary volume, with five guest decks all served by an elevator, a beam of 15m (49.2ft) and an interior volume of 3,179GT. Only ever used privately, SARAFSA represents a rare opportunity to own a large northern European yacht at a fraction of the replacement cost at a time when shipyards have wait times of several years.

The spa pool in the sun deck's wellness centre

The sun deck is a wellness centre with hammam, gym, spa pool and jacuzzi beneath a retractable roof and the stairwell atrium has an etched glass skylight. There is a sit-up bar and the extensive sun deck area aft serves two additional purposes: as stowage for tenders on passage and as a helipad.

The bridge deck lounge has a marble sit-up bar

Below is a dedicated owner's deck with an observation lounge forward featuring several seating areas including outside seating. The owner's suite aft has its own lobby, bathroom with bath, very large walk-in wardrobe, changing room and spacious private terrace aft. There is also a guest cabin forward with walk-in wardrobe, bathroom and another staff/security double cabin to port.

The bridge deck cinema seats 11 guests

Entertainment is the theme on the bridge deck. There is an 11-seat cinema opposite the owner's private study. Aft is a large informal lounge with a fully equipped bar and a formal dining room for 16 guests aft with glass screens that create a winter garden area or an open dining area. Outside is a sun lounge with bar and buffet positions and the bridge deck also has a VIP suite forward to starboard.

Looking forward in the main saloon

The main deck has three guest suites forward and a convertible suite-sized guest lounge with en suite shower room completing accommodation for 14 guests in seven suites. There is a second formal dining room for 14 guests, a hair salon, a more formal lounge aft and beyond an ante room is the main deck aft with steps leading down to an extensive swim platform. The main deck also has two shell doors concealing her 9m (29.5ft) and 8m (26.2ft) tenders.

One of three main deck guest suites

Her lower deck has an additional 10 staff (or junior guest) cabins for 14 guests or staff and SARAFSA also sleeps 23 crew. A teak guest boarding terrace and beach club area next to the elevator lobby. In the lazarette aft is stowage for a host of watertoys, a dive locker and a compact car.

Twin 2,682hp MTU diesel engines give her a top speed of 16 knots and a transoceanic range of 6,000nm at her cruising speed of 13 knots. Zero speed stabilisers provide exceptional comfort at anchor.

Following a substantial price reduction of EUR 10,000,000 on 4 October 2022, SARAFSA is now asking EUR 65,000,000 and she is currently lying in Monaco, where she will stay over winter, and we would be delighted to arrange an inspection. Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

yacht sarafsa proprietaire

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

yacht sarafsa proprietaire

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

yacht sarafsa proprietaire

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

yacht sarafsa proprietaire

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

yacht sarafsa proprietaire

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

yacht sarafsa proprietaire

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

yacht sarafsa proprietaire

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
