S/V Retreat Time is a Florida-based 1977 Sailcraft Apache 44 catamaran for sale by its owner. Retreat Time is ready for a new owner. Our 44 ft Apache, a very capable cruising catamaran, with stunning dimensions and lines. An extensively thought-out sailing yacht. Modernized yet simple, including a central helm protected from the weather.

The Apache 44 is a proven long distance cruiser with lifting keels and a generous rig. Many of these boats have crossed oceans and they have a reputation for stability and safety.

Retreat Time was constructed using superior vinyl ester resins and all renovation work was done using epoxy. Lee boards and trunks were removed, greatly increasing the already ample interior spaces, and full-length skid-keels were installed, which protect the vessel and make hauling a simple and safe process, and provide superior leeward resistance while maintaining a minimum 3.5-foot draft.

The Apache is a strong, beautiful and blue water tested catamaran. Accommodates two couples or a family in comfort and safety. She sports an open interior with lots of storage space. Two staterooms, nav station, toilet/shower, pantry, full galley as well as a settee and a double pilot berth. Apache 41 is a 40 ′ 9 ″ / 12.4 m catamaran sailboat designed by J.R. (Rod) Macalpine-Downie and built by Sailcraft Ltd. starting in 1970.

Auxilary power, accomodations, calculations.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Classic hull speed formula:

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
• LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 )

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds
• LOA: Length overall in feet
• Beam: Width of boat at the widest point in feet

A big family cruising cat from the 1960s, with lifting keels and a generous rig, but only modest performance due to a high displacement. Many of these boats have crossed oceans and they have a reputation for stability and safety. There is space for eight berths and two heads with full standing headroom on the bridgedeck. As these boats are quite old now, most will be in need of refurbishment and prices should reflect this. A 45ft version was also built.

Description

Upon arrival at Klein Curacao the crystal clear water is perfectly calm for swimming, snorkeling and diving. Enjoy this Klein Curacao trip to the fullest with this Apache Catamaran of almost 25 meters long.

Explore the island while enjoying the sunshine. The distance from the beach to the iconic pink lighthouse, the shipwrecks and the ruins is easy to do during a walk. Put on plenty of sunscreen because as the day progresses it can gradually get really hot, especially in the middle of the island.

Around noon, the crew is ready to serve a full BBQ buffet with meat from the grill, homemade fresh pasta pesto salad and brown bean salad, baguette and peanut sauce! Enjoy drinks from the premium open bar. As many as you like.

At 3 p.m. the Apache Catamaran sails back. On the wings of the wind you sail back to Curacao. Watching the sunset, you can't help but have made some great memories to take home with you.

Including Premium Open Bar In the Premium Open Bar you will find, among other things. Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, Soda, water, Cranberry Juice, and tropical juice. From 12:30 you can also get alcoholic drinks, such as White wine and Rose, Polar and Amstel Bright, Rum, Vodka and Whiskey

Including XL BBQ-lunch During the BBQ Lunch you will be spoiled with salads (including pasta pesto salad and bean salad) and meat from the grill (drumsticks, smoked ribs and tenderloin), fresh fruit and baguette and peanut sauce. If you are a vegetarian or have other dietary requirements, please let us know in the comments box during the booking process. Bluefinn Charters will try to take this into account. 

Hotel Transfer Optional If you don't feel like driving to Jan Thiel beach yourself or if you don't want to because of the Premium Open Bar, you can have yourself picked up from the larger accommodations around Willemstad. For approx. $ 19 per person you will be picked up and dropped off when you return.

We really had a super fun & beautiful day. We were super taken care of and we were not short of anything. Had a nice bbq on the boat and got delicious drinks on the way back. Overall a great day and definitely recommended!

After making our booking and receiving the confirmation by email, we were still looking forward to this day for 3 days. And yes….. finally went to the catamaran and wow….. what a day of pampering that was. Nice outward journey with top captain who had an eye on the high waves to hold the boat in so that we could calmly defy the tops of the Caribbean Sea and then…. is there on the horizon SMALL CURACAO! A paradise so beautiful. Then after 2 hours of entertainment in and around the beautiful blue water a top BBQ and the service was super on board. The return trip was also super relaxed with a tailwind. Approached Curacao quietly with the jib and after all those snacks and drinks arrived back at Jan Thiel. Top crew thank you for the good care, we would go again in a heartbeat!!!!

A reservation fee apply for some tours or activities we offer. These are costs that Caribbean Tours must make to make the reservation on your behalf with the local tour operator. We keep these costs as low as possible, but we have to pass on a small part to you as a customer. Because of this, we can offer this tour, so that you can easily book online your seats for this tour. The reservation costs are a fixed component and amount per booking, regardless of how many people come along.

Caribbean Tours is very committed to all stray animals that often have to live in harsh conditions on the islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. We take their fate very seriously and would like to do something to prevent this animal suffering. If you book a tour with Caribbean Tours, you will be asked during checkout whether you want to make an optional small contribution. Once a year we select an animal foundation to which we donate the collected amounts.

Een bijdrage waarmee op Bonaire, Stichting FKK Animal Rescue zich kan blijven inzetten ter voorkoming van het dierenleed onder honden en katten. CHANGE OF RESERVATION

Changing a booking that has already been confirmed and for which you have already received the ticket or voucher is possible under certain conditions. The costs for changing a booking are normally € 15 per change. By choosing a flexible ticket directly with your booking, you pay € 5 extra once and changing a booking is free of charge up to 48 hours before the start, even if you would like to change several times.

Notice: a booking can only be changed if the new desired date is available and an agreement has been received from the executing tour operator.

Caribbean Tours guarantees the lowest price  on tours & tickets that can be booked via our website. When you find the same tour or ticket for a lower price within three days of booking or after arrival at destination, we will  refund  the difference to you.

• Please send an email with your booking reference and proof of the lower price you found to [email protected].
• We will review your request and get back to you as soon as possible.
• When everything is verified, we will refund you the price difference.
