9 Must-See Yachts Debuting at the Miami International Boat Show
From a $355-million gigayacht, the largest-ever at a north american show, to a record-breaking electric runabout, this year's mibs has something for every mariner..

Five days, six separate locations and more than 1,000 boats of all shapes and sizes on display—the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show is on track to live up to its claim of being the largest boat and yacht show in the world. The show this year will have more available products, largely because the red-hot Covid market from last year has cooled.
“The manufacturers have caught up with product,” Andrew Doole, president of the US Boat Shows for Informa, told Robb Report . “As a result, we’ll see many new boats making their debuts in the convention center and also exceptional superyachts at Island Gardens.”
The show will kick off next Wednesday for its five-day run. Attendance at another recent Informa boat show was higher than last year, says Doole, giving him optimism that Miami will also outperform 2022.
Here are six newcomers, and two gigayachts new to the brokerage market, that promise to be showstoppers.
Lürssen ‘Ahpo’
Lürssen’s 378-foot Ahpo will be the largest gigayacht ever at any North American boat show. Delivered to its owner last year, but now up for sale for $355 million, the yacht has a wonderland interior that includes Asian-influenced designs, including silk wallpaper, hand embroidery and elaborate inlays of flying flamingoes, ginkgo leaves and red maple trees. Even the onboard IMAX Dolby cinema has twinkling LED stars in the ceiling. Designer Nuvolari Lenard also created a dedicated space catering to the multigenerational family, with a split-level suite for the owners, adjoining cabins for their children and parents and total accommodations for up to 16 guests. The mosaic-tiled spa sits at the heart of its outstanding wellness area, but also the yacht also has four pools of various sizes and a standout beach club. It will be moored in the Island Gardens marina.
Lürssen ‘Kismet’
Another superstar of this year’s Miami boat show is the spectacular 312-foot Lürssen-built megayacht, Kismet . Owned by Pakistani-American billionaire and sports lover Shahid Khan – he owns both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Britain’s Fulham soccer club – the yacht will be open for tours to a highly select few at the show’s SuperYacht Miami location. With a brand-new Lürssen, currently codenamed Project JAG and designed by Nuvolari Lenard, due to be completed for Mr. Khan later this year, Kismet is reportedly up for grabs for an eye-watering $181 million.
Lürssen Marguerite
Delivered in 2004, the 200-foot Marguerite (ex. Avanti, Aurora, Phoenix) was designed by Andrew Winch, with a classic interior and art-deco interior by Winch and Dawn Moffitt Design Inc. The superyacht, built by German yard Lürssen, was designed as a true oceangoing vessel, having the ability to be self-sufficient for 30 days. Beyond that, the owners also mandated that it be comfortable in all sea states. It’s listed for $48 million.
Absolute 52 Fly
In urban slang, the word Fly tends to mean cool, sexy, smart or stylish. That kind of describes to a tee Italian builder Absolute Yachts’ brand new 52 Fly flybridge cruiser making its world premiere in the Magic City. With its extensive hull and superstructure glazing—there’s almost as much glass as fiberglass—the interior spaces are flooded with light. And talking of interior, this new 52—bow to stern it’s actually 54 feet—shakes things up by putting its huge master suite in the bow with the VIP amidships. Power comes from a pair of 590 hp Volvo D8 diesels.
Tiara EX 60
Holland, Michigan-based Tiara Yachts just might have a new motto: “Go big, or go home”. At the Miami show they’re pulling the wraps off a brand new flagship—the 60-foot EX 60—which is the biggest, most luxurious Tiara to date. And with a sticker that starts at around $3.7 million, it’s also the priciest. But this newest EX has a lot to offer, including its major focus on outdoor space. If that stern cockpit wasn’t wide enough at 16 feet 11 inches, power-lowering side terraces expand the area to an impressive 20 feet six inches. Power is provided by twin 1350 Volvo D13 diesels that give an impressive 46 mph top speed.
Grady-White 281 Coastal Explorer
When fishing boat powerhouse Grady-White unveils a new boat, anglers the world over pay attention. For the Miami show, the 64-year-old Greenville, NC builder is unveiling its brand new 28-foot 281 Coastal Explorer center console. Designed for both inshore skinny waters as well as offshore swells, the 281 features Grady’s proven SeaV2 wave-cleaving deep-vee hull design. Fisherman-friendly features include a battle-ready casting deck in the bow with low gunwales, and an electric fold-down terrace on the portside of the helm for hauling in that giant grouper. Standard power is a single 425 hp Yamaha outboard, with the option of twin 300s.
Call it a true multi-national. Hylas Yachts’ new M49 is being built in Taiwan from a design by a New Zealand studio, to compete in the booming market for New England-style Down East cruisers. Big brother to the highly-successful Hylas M44, this salty 48-footer blends speedy performance—as in a 36 mph top speed—with exceptional rough-weather, offshore capability. Inside, the M49 features a comfy saloon under that big-windowed hardtop, with a spacious open rear “lounge” for entertaining. Trusty 370 hp Yanmar diesels do the powering. Hylas had hoped to debut the M49 two years ago, but Covid stalled the plan. Now, after a few improvements, it’s finally getting its show premiere.
Voltari 260
Think of it as proving a point. Typically, this new, Canadian-built, all-electric Voltari 260, with its high-torque, 700 hp motor, can slice through waves at a feisty 60 mph. But to set a record for the longest overseas distance for an electric “vehicle” completed on a single charge, the $450,000 Voltari had to dial things back. To a more leisurely 5 mph. That is how this stealthy-looking, carbon-fiber runabout recently ran from Key Largo, Florida across the turbulent Gulf Stream to Bimini in the Bahamas—91 miles door to door—in under 20 hours. It’ll be back in full performance mode for its Miami show debut as a poster child for electromobility on the water.
Leopard 40PC
South Africa’s Leopard Catamarans has a hard-to-resist “try before you buy” offer on its brand new Leopard 40PC power cat that’s making its global debut in Miami. Thanks to close ties with The Moorings charter company, potential buyers can simply rent one, for a week, maybe two, maybe longer. And it should be a blast. With the option of twin 370 hp diesels, the 40PC—or Moorings 403 PC as the charter version is called—can hit a top speed of 23 mph. This new kid brother to Leopard’s bigger 46 PC and 53 PC models has space for six in three cabins and the largest flybridge ever seen on a 40-foot power cat.

Welcome to the largest boat and yacht show in the world.
For the first time, the 2023 Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show will boast 1,200 exhibitors set up at six different locations around Miami and Miami Beach, both on land and on water, beginning yesterday and running through Feb. 19. It’s a fleet of fun created when the annual Miami International Boat Show and the Miami Yacht Show joined forces with SuperYacht Miami in 2022.
“Last year’s show bought in $1.34 billion to the local community, that’s a great economic impact,” Paul Flannery, COO of the International Yacht Brokers Association, told The Post. “With the pooled resources, the goal is to make this show the best, and to keep improving customer experience.”
The epicenter of the event is the Miami Beach Convention Center, where power boats up to 49 feet, engine manufacturers, marine accessories, electronics and retail pavilions are set up. At Herald Plaza, larger power boats, motor yachts ranging from 50 feet to 125 feet in length, yacht tenders, engines, marine accessories and additional retail are on view.
Museum Park Marina will provide an up-close look at the latest sailboats, catamarans and sailing accessories.
At the Venetian Marina, test drive one of more than 150 sea trial vessels — test sails must be booked in advance with the vendor and alas, access to all boats in the show is at the discretion of the individual exhibitor.
The Progressive Boat Show Experience at Pride Park, adjacent to the Miami Beach Convention Center, features the AquaZone by Nautical Ventures, a must for thrill-seeking water sports fans.
Yes, there are superyachts — luxurious craft stretching to almost 300 feet in length will be on display at SuperYacht Miami, held at Yacht Haven Grande Miami. This separate exhibit within the boat show has separate ticketing that includes general admission to the whole event and complimentary water tender service over to Yacht Haven Grande Miami.
“There will be lots and lots of boats on display. Everything from kayaks to catamarans to superyachts,” said Andrew Doole, president of the US Boat Shows division of London-based Informa Markets, which produces the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show.
“Last year, there were still inventory shortages from production slowdowns during COVID. We were still catching up,” he added.
The latest in electric-powered boats will be on display.
“It’s the newest category and it’s been growing slowly for a few years,” said Doole. “Now it’s a bigger focus, just like the electric car market has become.”
Negative environmental effects from littering, fuel and sewage at marinas and at sea from the growing popularity of leisure boats is a profound problem the industry is addressing, said Flannery.
The show organizers have partnered with the Miami Foundation to raise awareness and support its Biscayne Bay Recovery Fund, created to protect Greater Miami’s blighted 35-mile-long marine ecosystem. Ticket holders will be able to make donations.
Overall, expect new boats and yachts from the world’s leading boat manufacturers, such as Cruisers Yachts, NauticStar, Intrepid Powerboats, Pursuit Boats, Solara and Scout Boats.
“But there’s also all the things that go along with that,” noted Doole.
There is an awful lot that goes into boating: everything from the Marine Sanitation Devices (MSDs) to pots and pans.
“You can buy everything from sunglasses to a superyacht at the show,” said Flannery, a lifelong boater ever since his father took him out on the water as a young boy. “It caters to the whole experience from fine linens and silverware, to production of fresh water and waste disposal.”
The convention center will even include a drop-in classroom, Fred’s Shed Interactive Learning Center, to help boaters maintain and fix their boat — which might prove essential when out at sea.
“There will be live music and yes, there will be cocktails. This is boating.” Andrew Doole, president of the US Boat Shows division of Informa Markets
But it’s not just engine stuff for gear heads. The Boat Show aims to be a happy place for all — even fashionistas.
“Ladies who want to come to the show looking their best don’t have to suffer after walking around for hours in uncomfortable shoes,” said Flannery. “We have a shoe valet: They can buy high-end flip-flops at cost price and valet their heels until later.”
Be sure to retrieve them in time for the Yachts after Dark event on Friday, 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., at Herald Plaza. Included in the general admission ticket, this is the place to unwind and take in the yachts in a “less-crowded space,” said Doole.
“There will be live music and yes, there will be cocktails. This is boating,” he added.

Navigating the New-Look Miami Boat Show
Next Wednesday, February 15, the 2023 Miami International Boat Show will throw open its gates and welcome what its management estimates will be up to 100,000 visitors over the five day show. The show is huge and takes over six locations in Miami Beach and the city of Miami. After several seasons of running the show on Virginia Kay on Biscayne Bay, the main indoor portion of the show is back at the Miami Beach Convention Center that has been completely renovated. Right next to the MBCC is Pride Park where a huge tent has been erected for seminars, food stalls, exhibits and more. The in-the-water portions of the show are scattered around four locations on the Miami waterfront. The main powerboat show is at Herald Square. Next to it is the Venetian Marina where you can test drive up to 150 different boats, with advanced reservations. The sailboat show is at Museum Park Marina a few blocks south of Herald Square. And, last but not least, the SuperYacht show is at Yacht Haven Grand Miami. The in-the-water shows and the indoor exhibits in Miami Beach are linked by water taxis and buses and first-time visitors should be warned to allow plenty of time to get from one venue to the next. There are no ticket booths at the show so all tickets must be purchased online via the show’s website. A one-day ticket is $42 for adults and $16 for children. The SuperYacht show tickets are sold separately and go for $130 per day. A big part of the charm of the show is being in Miami and Miami Beach in February when the cities are rocking with tourists, the beaches are thick with sun worshipers and the night clubs thunder away all night. Check out the show’s website here.

6 must-see charter yachts at the Miami Yacht Show 2023

By Nina Done 16 February 2023
With this year's Miami Yacht Show already underway, we round up the must-see charter yachts on display at the multi-site event.
Visitors to Miami 's annual yachting showcase will be keen to check out the wealth of vessels on display, spread between the Venetian and MacArthur Causeways on Biscayne Bay.
But, as always, the true stars of the show will be the attending superyachts. Therefore, here’s a cross section of the best yachts attending the Miami Yacht Show, as well as Superyacht Miami, to be held in conjunction with the main event at Island Gardens Deep Harbour on Watson Island.
Superyacht AHPO
After her star turn at the Monaco yacht show in September, the 115m (377ft) Lürssen superyacht AHPO is making a splash across the pond as the largest yacht on display at this year’s Miami Boat Show. The award-winning yacht is sure to win hearts amongst show-goers, who will be in raptures over her sophisticated interiors and state-of-the-art amenities.
Having scooped the top prize at the recent BOAT Design & Innovation award ceremony in Italy for her exterior design, as well as the Judges’ Commendation award for Artisanship of her beautiful interiors, she is certain to impress lucky ticket holders at this year’s event.
Luxury yacht KISMET
The second largest superyacht on display is the 95m (312ft) superyacht KISMET. Another award-winning Lürssen build, she will be sure to attract plenty of attention berthed in Miami with her bold exterior, which is defined by high contrasts, lots of glass and a long, prowling bow.
Visitors lucky enough to step aboard will be wowed by her ‘caviar and champagne' themed interiors. Reymond Langton Design used gold metal and honey tones to create a luxurious yet warm atmosphere, enhanced by Art Deco furnishings such as glittering chandeliers and grand fireplaces.
Always proving to be popular are her piano bar and multi-storey video walls. But she also offers a variety of deck areas charterers never fail to fall in love with, from the sundeck pool and Jacuzzi to the two helipads to the outdoor fire pit. The sumptuous lower deck spa facilities are always a winner too.
Motor yacht UTOPIA IV
Marking her debut at the show, the 63m (207ft) motor yacht UTOPIA IV will undoubtedly prove a head turner with her sporty good looks and charter-focused amenities. Launched in 2018 by the Rossinavi shipyard, she is also multi-award-winning: gaining the accolades of World Superyachts Award “2019 Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts – 40m and above” and the International Superyacht Society's Awards of “2019 Best Power 40m – 65m to name but a few.
Her highlights are numerous, but visitors will particularly love her expansive beach club. The transom folds down to provide a huge swim platform (754 square feet) coupled with a bar and relaxation area.
Superyacht ROCKET ONE
Another debut at the show, Gulf Craft ’s Majesty 120 yacht ROCKET ONE has been making waves ever since her launch in 2022, as well as picking up recent gongs for her naval architecture and eco-friendly credentials.
The yacht boasts refined interiors courtesy of the talented Cristiano Gatto, showcasing subtle monochromatic themes with plenty of light offered through her full-length windows. With oodles of alfresco living areas, from her convivial sundeck to her beach club haven, she is not one to be missed while at the show.
Yacht FREDDY
For those who like the thrill of high speed cruising across the waves, this 32m (106ft) Sanlorenzo yacht offers all that and much more besides. Delivered in 2017 as part of the yard’s award-winning 106 series, she features an elegant, yet sporty exterior and boasts a top speed of 28 knots, not to mention a vast array of spacious amenities and impressive leisure entertainment facilities.
On board highlights for show-goers include her sun-kissed flybridge complete with a flat-screen TV, cocktail bar and alfresco dining arrangement for more informal meals, as well as a shaded waterside beach club with a generous swim platform for easy access into the water and onto the yacht’s toys.
Catamaran PRONTO
One style of yacht that is fast becoming a staple at elite yacht shows is the catamaran, with the Sunreef Yachts 24m (79ft) yacht PRONTO proving an excellent example. Not only does she offer exceptionally smooth cruising, but she can also access areas most other displacement superyachts cannot by virtue of her incredibly shallow draft, making her the ideal cruiser for the tropical paradise islands of the Caribbean and Bahamas , and beyond.
The semi-custom layout is also primed for alfresco living, enhanced by her 12-meter beam, providing ample space in which to relax and unwind. Visitors to the show will be wowed by her proportions, including her refined accommodation areas.
They will also be impressed by her aft platform that doubles as an open beach club offering a beautiful waterside area, with further space for relaxation offered on her sun-drenched bow, featuring a sunken lounge and Jacuzzi.
