wallynano37
"Sailing yachts that masterfully combine Wally’s high-tech build with sharp styling and a clean, elegant interior to produce bluewater cruisers that thrill on the racecourse."
Perfection in form rarely comes with such impeccable performance attributes. The wallynano37 is an object of profound beauty, with lines drawn by the redoubtable André Hoek. But in step with Wally’s core values, Hoek’s stunning naval architecture means the hull is totally geared for sailing speed and handling below the waterline. Plumb bows and long overhangs aft look good, but they also give the boat extra buoyancy forward to punch through the waves and additional waterline length for greater speed on the heel. A single spade rudder and deep 2.6m bulb keel combine to offer incredible stability and control, even with the full 75sqm upwind sailplan. Downwind she is a rocket as well, capable of sustaining 20 knots with a big Code sail or gennaker. And her lightweight carbon build means that she performs well under sail even in light airs. So you will only need to call on the silent Oceanvolt electric motor for close quarters manoeuvres. Now in its second generation, the wallynano37 will bring home trophies, but it also makes a wonderful dayboat for cruising with family or picnicking in a deserted bay. Her beautiful interior is flexible, offering a berth for up to four, a galley unit and a head. A rich, woody finish blends warm mahogany, teak, sporty carbon and fine upholstery.
Sail, race, have fun, and repeat.
Style icon, sea icon.

An online cruising guide for yachts sailing to Wallis and Futuna.
Wallis and Futuna is located about two-thirds of the way from Hawaii to New Zealand , at 13°18′S 176°12′W / -13.3, -176.2 (225 mi west of Samoa and 300 mi north-east of Fiji ).
The territory includes the island of Wallis (the most populated), the island of Futuna, the uninhabited island of Alofi (the population of Alofi was reportedly eaten by the cannibal people of Futuna in one single raid in the 19th century), and 20 uninhabited islets, totaling 274 square kilometres (106 sq mi) with 129 kilometres (80 mi) of coastline. The highest point in the territory is Mont Singavi (on the island of Futuna) at 765 metres (2,510 ft).
Only five percent of the islands' land area is arable land; permanent crops cover another 20%. Deforestation (only small portions of the original forests remain), largely as a result of the continued use of wood as the main fuel source, is a serious problem; as a consequence of cutting down the forests, the mountainous terrain of Futuna is particularly prone to erosion. There are no permanent settlements on Alofi because of the lack of natural fresh water resources.
Wallis and Futuna comprises two archipelagoes:
Hoorn Islands group (also known as the Futuna Islands, and as Îles Horne)
- Futuna Island (pop.~5,000)
- Alofi Island (uninhabited)
Alofi Island is the smaller of the two. According to legend it was as densely inhabited as Futuna up until the 19th century, when the Futuna people slaughtered and ate the population in a single raid.
Wallis Islands group (also known as ʻUvea, as is Wallis Island)
- Wallis Island (ʻUvea) (pop.~10,000)
Wallis Island is surrounded by 15 smaller islands, all of which are uninhabited.
The islands have a hot, rainy season from November to April and a cool, dry season from May to October. The rains accumulate 2,500 to 3,000 millimeters (98–118 in) each year. The average humidity is 80% and the temperature 26.6 °C (79.9°F).
The SE trade winds predominate during the winter months (April to November). In summer the winds are variable and the weather is often sultry but westerly gales do occur though the islands are rarely affected by tropical storms.

Baltic 37 is a 37 ′ 0 ″ / 11.3 m monohull sailboat designed by Robert Ball and C&C Design and built by Baltic Yachts between 1978 and 1983.
Rig and Sails
Auxilary power, accomodations, calculations.
The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.
Classic hull speed formula:
Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL
Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL
Sail Area / Displacement Ratio
A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.
SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3
- SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
- D : Displacement in pounds.
Ballast / Displacement Ratio
A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.
Ballast / Displacement * 100
Displacement / Length Ratio
A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.
D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³
- D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
- LWL: Waterline length in feet
Comfort Ratio
This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.
Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 )
- D: Displacement of the boat in pounds
- LOA: Length overall in feet
- Beam: Width of boat at the widest point in feet
Capsize Screening Formula
This formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more.
CSV = Beam ÷ ³√(D / 64)
