trimaran astus 18.2

Astus was founded in 2004 by sailboat designer Jean-Hubert Pommois.   The company has grown over the years and now has four models to choose from: 18.2, 20.2, 22 and 24 (approximating length in feet) with vacuum infusion fiberglass construction.   They are quite popular in Europe and represented by several international dealers who specialize in multihull boats.

WindRider’s brand is “Sailing Simplified” and Astus fits this standard by being fast, fun and safe; having been designed to offer maximum pleasure with minimum hassle.  They are light and easy to launch and trailer.  Their outriggers are mounted on telescopic tubes for easy stowage and towing.  Just push the outriggers in and drive away.

The outriggers can also be extended and retracted on the water, giving you access to narrow passageways and monohull slips in marinas.

The Astus 20.2, starting from $29,550.

  2. Boat Review by Multihulls World of: Trimaran Astus 18.2

With the added suffix .2, this second generation of trimarans is more performance oriented, according to the builder. From the first glance, the suspense was over. The design of the Astus 18.2, by the architect Philippe Roulin, a former associate of the famous VPLP office, is almost nothing like that of its predecessor.

At the heart of the Astus Boats range (the yard was founded in 2004), this boat replaces the 16 and reinforces the new range, strengthened by the 20.2. The 18.2 picks up on a good part of the ingredients of its big brother, starting with modern hulls with a central hull sporting a step, low to the waterline.
