Which boat should I choose? Well, both of our girls (boats) are amazing, but definitely show it off in different ways. "Le Bon Vie" is classy, elegant and sophisticated. She exudes sleek Italian design and offers you a cruise in unparalleled comfort. She is ideal for romantic getaways, birthday parties, bar hopping cruises and company functions.

While....... Her younger sister ship "Island Girl" just refuses to act right! She's fun, spunky and unconventional. Like her guests, she lets her hair down and lives for the moment enjoying the sunshine and sand. She attracts attention wherever she goes and definitely dances to the beat of her own tiki drum!

Island Vibes Charter offers several charter options, both private (you get the whole boat) and public (pull up a chair and meet some nice people!) all with the peace of mind of knowing that you will be taken care of by a U.S. Coast Guard certified master captain with years of experience boating on Lake Norman. A large outdoor festival audience with downtown St. Paul in the background.

Beyond one big name band jumping ship at the last minute , it was otherwise smooth sailing Friday for day one of the new Minnesota Yacht Club Festival at St. Paul’s Harriet Island Regional Park.

Yacht Club, which continues Saturday, is the first major rock and pop festival on Harriet Island since Live Nation’s River’s Edge Music Festival in 2012. Despite promising St. Paul a five-year commitment, the concert promoting giant lost enough money to convince them to pull out after a single year.

Live Nation owns 51% of Yacht Club organizers C3 Presents, an Austin, Texas, company that’s also behind Austin City Limits Music Festival, Voodoo Music + Arts Experience and the modern-day Lollapalooza. But Live Nation apparently allows C3 to follow its own path.

Some concertgoers complained about food and drink prices, and long lines, but in terms of getting in and around the site, the infrastructure and general vibe, C3’s experience in mounting festivals became quite clear by late Friday afternoon, when Joan Jett and the Blackhearts played an hourlong set to a large, grinning and dancing crowd. (Organizers did not release an attendance number, but have said they expect more than 30,000 people each of the two days.)

On Thursday, Yacht Club’s social media announced reunited Southern rockers the Black Crowes had pulled out of their planned set at 8 p.m. Friday due to “illness in the band.” (The Crowes, however, did not address their absence online.) Rather than drafting an 11th hour replacement, the festival reworked the schedule and gave several acts more time on stage. Local band Durry got pushed nearly two hours later into the schedule for a set that started at 5:40, while Seattle indie folk act the Head and the Heart graduated to the Black Crowes’ planned 8 p.m. slot.

Local favorites Gully Boys opened the festival at 1 p.m. on the main stage followed by fellow homegrown act Harbor and Home on the smaller stage. From that point on, performances alternated between the two stages, with just minutes between bands.

Sets from buzzy country artist Morgan Wade and indie rockers Michigander paved the way for Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, who earned cheers for their famous covers “Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah),” “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,” “Crimson and Clover” and “Everyday People” as well as band originals “I Hate Myself for Loving You” and “Bad Reputation.” They also covered the Replacements’ “Androgynous,” with Jett giving a shout out to the late Minneapolis band and their leader Paul Westerberg.

RELATED: What to know if you’re headed to the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival

St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter took the stage prior to Gwen Stefani’s performance and asked the crowd to applaud the police and other city workers who helped make the festival happen. He also suggested it would return for a second year in 2025.

Stefani — who was promoted as a headliner along with Friday’s final act Alanis Morissette and Saturday’s main attraction the Red Hot Chili Peppers — performed with dancers and video at what sounded like a louder volume than the previous bands. She told the audience her brother-in-law is from Minnesota, so that sort of makes her a local. She then pulled out her husband, former “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton, to sing their current single “Purple Irises.”

It’s been some 18 years since her last substantial solo hit, but Stefani has remained in the spotlight thanks to her high-profile husband and the semi-regular duet singles they’ve released over the last eight years. Stefani and her band No Doubt reunited in April to headline Coachella to much acclaim, but have yet to announce any future plans together. Whatever happens, Friday’s crowd — which was heavy on geriatric millennials and Gen Xers with a smattering of boomers — gave Stefani a warm reception that matched the ideal summertime weather that graced the festival on Friday.

Review: Minnesota Yacht Club festival ends in rowdy, dopey style with Chili Peppers

A fter a rather meaningful and mellower start on Friday , the Minnesota Yacht Club festival turned more dopey, sweaty, goofy, brawny and wild on Saturday.

For better or worse, Twin Cities music lovers finally got a taste of what major rock festivals are all about.

The highly anticipated, nationally touted inaugural festival continued Saturday on St. Paul's Harriet Island Park with a lineup led by the maybe ultimate '90s party band, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who played the same site in 1992 on the second Lollapalooza tour with their famous bassist dressed solely in a diaper.

Flea and his bandmates have cleaned up since then but haven't grown up much. Their rowdy, back-slappy, semi-tawdry spirit seemed to waft through Saturday's festival like the semi-legalized marijuana smoke that was prominent throughout the 10-hour day.

There was way more weed, bouncing beach balls, backward ball caps and mosh pits on Saturday for performers, including the Offspring, Gary Clark Jr., the Hold Steady and Soul Asylum — quite a contrast to Friday's more sophisticated (and less virile) lineup with Alanis Morissette, Gwen Stefani and Joan Jett. There were about a thousand more people, too, as attendance topped out at 35,000.

It really was a tale of two festivals over the two days. The Yacht Club vibe was so festive and kooky on Saturday, even the Offspring came off like a halfway decent band. Yes, two long days in the sun can really mess with people's heads.

Here's a rundown of Saturday's defining moments:

The Minnesotans sure were smart-alecky. "I arrived to the gig in my yacht," Soul Asylum frontman Dave Pirner said near the start of his band's midafternoon set on the main stage. Lots more yachting quips followed. And then there was Hippo Campus singer Jake Luppen's hello to the crowd: "Thank you for coming. We're the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Both bands got down to serious business when they weren't talking between songs, though, each blending in new songs from albums out this fall alongside older radio hits. Soul Asylum also dropped in a few deeper-cut oldies for the hometown fans alongside "Runaway Train," including "Little Too Clean" and "Bittersweetheart." Hippo Campus had many fans twice the age of its typical crowd singing and clapping along to its most buoyant tunes, including "Way It Goes" and "South."

St. Paul finally got its due from two of the bands. Hippo Campus guitarist Nathan Stocker got on the mic to express their gratitude for the city and specifically the St. Paul Conservatory for the Performing Arts, which he and his bandmates attended and could see from the stage.

The Hold Steady's Edina-reared bandleader Craig Finn could also see the source of many of his songs from the second stage: the Mississippi River. He sang about it in "Stevie Nix" and then paid homage to the smaller Twin City in his still-thrilling band's mellower jam, "We Can Get Together," which he introduced by saying, "Minneapolis is hard to rhyme with, so thank you St. Paul. You have it all."

Finn also had fun with the festival's nautical theme, which tied into his wardrobe choice for the day: a dapper, gentlemanly light-blue suit he bought for the Kentucky Derby: "I'd like to thank them for calling this the Minnesota Yacht Club so I could wear this suit again," he said.

The Chili Peppers' set wasn't the funkiest of the fest. New Orleans' funk and soul band Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue — something of an odd entry in the rock-heavy lineup — went over like a beignet goes with a hangover on the second stage in the afternoon heat. Their hyper-grooving set included fun originals blended with snippets of New Orleans classics like Ernie K-Doe's "Here Come the Girls" and even Green Day's "Brain Stew," all of which they seamlessly and tirelessly mixed together nonstop like a good DJ mixes on two turntables. The real show-stopping moment came when they jubilantly covered Prince's "Let's Go Crazy." Even with all the Minnesota acts on Saturday's bill, there was no better act to honor Minnesota's big chief.

Gary Clark Jr. went against the vibe. While he's put on many shows in town that would've delighted Saturday's crowd, the Texas blues-rocker instead filled the day's penultimate set with a lot of the hazier and more soulful, Curtis Mayfield-tinged tunes from his new record, "JPEG Raw." It was an impressive divergence but was somewhat lost on the crowd. At least until he launched into the older and heavier jam "Bright Lights," and things indeed brightened.

The Chili Peppers were mildly hot. Any fan who caught the Los Angeles rock vets' concert last year at U.S. Bank Stadium was probably overjoyed seeing them outside with excellent acoustics. However, they probably did not appreciate that this set list leaned more heavily on recent tunes, even while 2022′s slow-builder "Eddie" reiterated how great it is having John Frusciante back on guitar.

Appreciation for the improved setting and sound seemed to carry over on the band's end, too. Flea, the band's sometimes-aloof singer Anthony Kiedis and its St. Paul-born drummer Chad Smith good-naturedly and excitedly bounced their way through the 90-minute set and didn't waver as they began to check off some of their many hits later in the last half-hour, starting with "Californication" and then picking up steam with "By the Way" and "Give It Away."

"We're really happy that you're here, and we love to play music for you," Flea said as sweetly as could be at one point.

OK, maybe the dude has grown up. It certainly felt like the Twin Cities grew up as a concert market by the end of the Yacht Club on Saturday, when the festival appeared to run even more smoothly and impressively than Friday, despite a bigger and more ruffian crowd. Here's to next year's voyage.

If songs like “I'd Really Love to See You Tonight” and “Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” make you think of kicking back on a boat and cruising in the summertime, you’re not alone.

YouTube coined the genre “yacht rock” to describe the soft rock sound of the 1970s and '80s, and Warwick native Tom Gardner, guitarist with the band Yächtley Crëw , invites you to get on board with the vibes when their “Full Steam Ahead” tour stops at the Providence Performing Arts Center on Saturday, July 27.

“It’s like a feeling that reminds you of your childhood or first love. It’s nostalgia,” says Gardner, who goes by the stage name Tommy Buoy. “It’s actually a jazz-rock fusion that’s pretty hard to play. We had to step up our game to learn these songs, many of which were originally performed by high-quality studio musicians.”

After years performing solo and in bands across the region – maybe you’ve heard his song “Summertime in Rhode Island” with the rock/reggae band Someday Providence – Gardner moved to Los Angeles in 2010. He connected with six other musicians to form Yächtley Crëw, which performed for the first time in January 2017, and he says “it’s been kind of a rocket ride since then.”

Clad in nautical attire for shows, the band has performed with artists like Elliot Lurie, lead singer of the band Looking Glass, whose song “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)” is one of the covers Yächtley Crëw regularly includes in set lists. After signing with Jimmy Buffett’s Mailboat Records label, they also had a six-month residency in Las Vegas.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Born in 1983, Gardner, a Pilgrim High School and University of Rhode Island graduate, says he was drawn to the mellow sound of yacht rock even before it was so named. Songs like Steely Dan’s “Reeling in the Years,” “Don’t Bring Me Down” by ELO and “Rich Girl” by Hall & Oates are buoyant, he says.

As for the definition of yacht rock, he says that’s highly debated in the industry but generally revolves around big vocals and harmonies.

“We let the fans tell us what they want to hear,” Gardner says. “Some songs end up borderline yacht rock, but if the fans love it, we’ll play it. We also bring our own style. We’re faithful to the originals, but we are high-energy with choreography, banter and lights. We’re here to entertain!”

Yächtley Crëw performed several years ago at The Strand in Providence, but the group has multiple venues in the area on this year’s tour, including three in Massachusetts: Indian Ranch in Webster , South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset, and the Cape Cod Melody tent in Hyannis.

“The whole sailing vibe fits in with New England,” Gardner says, adding that he loves returning to his home state. “I’m always going to be proud of Rhode Island. It’s special when we see someone from here – it’s like one big town.”

'Million Dollar Listing' reality TV star Ryan Serhant opens new office in Jupiter

Portrait of Kimberly Miller

Celebrity Realtor and reality TV star Ryan Serhant is opening his second office in Palm Beach County after adding 50 agents to his local roster and surpassing $300 million in closed sales over the past year.

Serhant, who starred in the Emmy-nominated “Million Dollar Listing New York” series and has a new show on Netflix called “Owning Manhattan," launched a Delray Beach office of the firm Serhant. (the period is part of the name) in the spring of 2023.

He is scheduled to open his second office Aug. 1 at Harbourside Place in Jupiter.

“We have proven that we aren’t just the new kids on the block in Palm Beach County, we are continuing to grow with top producing agents and setting record sales prices,” said Christian Prakas, the opening broker of Serhant. in Delray Beach. “We are thrilled with the success we’ve had so far.”

Prakas, who built the Delray Beach office from scratch, said the Jupiter office will open with 15 agents.

“We have already added some great people that were exposed to us via the show and we've signed three new listings this week due to seller’s seeing what we do best via Netflix,” Prakas said.

Serhant, who was one of three New York Realtors followed by the Bravo TV series “Million Dollar Listing,” founded Serhant. in the fall of 2020. He now has 600 agents and announced last year he was expanding into seven East Coast markets, including South Florida.

The new Netflix show “Owning Manhattan” follows a handful of Serhant. agents — from novices to seasoned professionals — as they hawk high-rise condominiums, apartments and townhomes in the competitive world of luxury listings.

Ryan Serhant opens office in Delray: Bravo TV real estate celebrity joins 'Beverly Hills Housewives' star in move to Palm Beach County

Serhant said last year that Palm Beach County was an obvious next step for his firm.

In 2021, he co-represented the buyer of the beachfront home at 535 N. County Road in Palm Beach, which set the record at the time for the highest residential sale on the island at a recorded $122.7 million.

That sale has since been surpassed with the current record of $170 million for an oceanfront Palm Beach estate at 598 N. County Road.

Serhant also noted West Palm Beach as a growing market.

“West Palm has become the new epicenter for large multi-billion-dollar financial institutions that have migrated to South Florida within the last three years,” Serhant said in an email to The Palm Beach Post last year. “We are experiencing a massive growth that is directly correlated with the real estate explosion on Palm Beach Island, and the migration to the Wall Street South.”

West Palm Beach and Palm Beach experienced a 93% increase in millionaires between 2013 and 2023, ranking the two cities third nationwide in this year’s Henley & Partners USA Wealth Report.

"The Serhant name has helped us build immediate credibility with clients," said Nicholas Gonzalez, who is a founding agent in the Delray Beach office. "He is super involved in his business and it's so cool that we can go on a listing appointment and if we need him to make the seller feel comfortable, he's easily accessible."

Gonzalez said while home sales have cooled since the frenzied early days of the pandemic, a specialized development division at Serhant. assembles branding packages for new projects to help its agents boost sales. The division worked with Gonzalez and his colleague Matthew Moser to market the Siréne Villas in Delray Beach, which are selling for between $5.3 million and $5.5 million. Gonzalez said Serhant. will "create a whole vibe" around a project whether it's a new single-family home or multi-unit development.

"They are taking the same method they use to sell 400-unit buildings in New York City and applying it here," Gonzalez said.

Serhant, whose new Jupiter office is at 114 N. Coastal Way, is one of at least three real estate agents doing business in Palm Beach County whose reputations were boosted by reality television shows.

Mauricio Umansky, who appeared on the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and now has his own Netflix series “Buying Beverly Hills,” opened a Palm Beach office of his firm The Agency in 2023. Umansky is separated from “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards.

More: 'Million Dollar Listing' star Fredrik Eklund moved to Miami as South Florida real estate booms

Fredrik Eklund, who co-starred with Serhant on “Million Dollar Listing New York”, opened an office of his Eklund Gomes Team at the Jupiter Yacht Club shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eklund, who has since moved to Miami after a stint in California, said in an interview earlier this year that he was drawn to Florida because of the number of new developments. Last year, the Eklund Gomes Team had $3.77 billion in total transactions from agents in New York, California, Texas and Florida.

“In LA, there just wasn’t a lot of new construction,” Eklund said.

Serhant, who is 6-foot-3, and Eklund, who is 6-foot-5, had a competitive — sometimes contentious — relationship on "Million Dollar Listing."

In Jupiter, their offices will be less than a mile from each other.

"I think there will be some natural competition between the two offices," Gonzalez said.

History of taganrog.

In the 7th-6th centuries B.C., according to archaeological research, there was a Greek settlement on the territory of present Taganrog. Today, there are no remains of this settlement. It was founded in the second half of the 7th century B.C. and destroyed in the second half of the 6th century B.C., probably by nomadic Scythians.

Taganrog was first mentioned in written sources in 1698. It was founded after the capture of Azov by Peter’s I order as a fortress and harbor for the Russian Navy. Taganrog became the first Russian naval base and seaport on the open coast. It was also the first Russian town built on a regular plan.

The fortress was originally called Troyetsk, then Troitsk and finally Taganrog. Peter I even intended to transfer the capital of the country to Taganrog. But Russia lost the war against Turkey and it determined the fate of the town.

More Historical Facts…

Under the terms of the peace treaty, Russia was to destroy the harbor and the town itself. By February 1712, these works were completed. In 1769, during another Russian-Turkish war, the restoration of Taganrog began by Catherine’s the Great order.

Taganrog lost its military importance after the founding of Sevastopol in 1783. The town turned into the largest trade port in the Russian Empire.

In 1820, A.S.Pushkin stayed in Taganrog during his trip to the Caucasus. He spent the night in the house of P.A.Papkov, the mayor of the town. In 1825, the Emperor Alexander I died in this house (corner of Grecheskaya Street, 40 and Dvortsovy (Nekrasovsky) Avenue). Later, the memorial museum of the Emperor Alexander I was opened in the house.

In May 1855, during the Crimean War of 1853-1856, the English-French squadron entered the Sea of Azov, trying to deprive the Russian army in the Crimea its rear bases. The squadron bombarded Taganrog and tried to make a landing. The gunboat “Jasper” was destroyed by Cossacks during the landing operation near Taganrog. In August, the squadron stopped unsuccessful attempts and left the Sea of Azov.

Fertile agricultural regions located close to the town contributed to its development. Taganrog became an important center for the wheat and flax trade. In 1869, the railroad connected the town with Kharkov and Rostov-on-Don.

In the 19th century, Taganrog continued to be a major center of trade. Today, there are several houses of Italian and Greek merchants that retained since that time. At the end of the 19th century, the local industry began to develop quickly; metallurgical, boiler and machine-building plants were constructed. In 1908, the first power station was built.

In 1918-1920, during the Russian Civil War, the General Headquarters of Denikin (the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian South) was located in Taganrog. Since 1937, the city is part of the Rostov region. Taganrog was occupied by the Germans for almost two years during World War II. After the war, the local economy recovered rapidly.
