Scituate Harbor Yacht Club (SHYC) is located in Scituate, Massachusetts, twenty miles southwest of Boston. Incorporated in 1940, SHYC is a private, family-centered club with an emphasis on the enjoyment of competitive and recreational sailing, tennis and swimming. Our Favorite Destinations: Scituate Harbor

Scituate Harbor is a centuries-old fishing village, steeped in maritime history, that has become a vibrant commercial community – bustling yet authentic. About an hour north of the Canal by powerboat, the harbor is picturesque, well-protected and easy to navigate. Aim for the red/white “SA” bell about half a mile east of the harbor, then follow the well-marked channel through the breakwater and past the iconic Old Scituate Lighthouse.

Front Street is the main street along the harbor. It is alive with boutiques, gift shops, art galleries, coffee and ice cream shops, breakfast spots, gourmet shops, a hardware store and a great market.

Scituate Harbor features many restaurants. You’ll find casual dining at (the dock n’ dine) TKO Malley’s, the Satuit Tavern, Barker Tavern and the Mill Wharf. Scituate also offers contemporary gastro pubs like Galley and Restaurant ORO, each with a cool urban vibe you wouldn’t expect in a small, seaside town.

If you’d like to stay overnight, the Harbor is served by a yacht club and several marinas. Mill Wharf Marina is the largest in town, offering transient slips and amenities and a fuel dock. Scituate Maritime Center is operated by the town and offers 78 slips, a skiff/dinghy dock, a public kayak ramp, public restrooms and showers. Both take reservations via Dockwa. Another option is Scituate Harbor Marina . Transient moorings are administered by the town harbormaster (781-545-2130).

This is a great powerboat day trip. With the prevailing summer Southwest wind, your cruise up and down Cape Cod Bay is off of a lee shore, so calmer sea conditions should prevail.

Captain Don “Soup” Campbell will be your guide; the Scituate local has more than 25 years of experience with commercial and sport fishing in Cape Cod Bay, Massachusetts Bay, and the Gulf of Maine, and carries a 100-ton U.S. Coast Guard Master License. 

The Labrador commercial fishing vessel is perfect for in-shore and off-shore fishing and lobstering; you’ll be able to fish tuna, shark, cod, striped bass, and haddock. The vessel cruises at 17 knots and has a 325-hp Volvo Penta diesel engine. Peace ‘N Quiet Sailing Charters

Right in Scituate Harbor you’ll find the Peace ‘N Quiet Sailing Charters. Within this charter, book two, four, or six-person cruises in the afternoon or evening. Witness the amazing views of the Scituate Coast and breathe in the sea salt air.  

Father and son duo Phil and Victor began this business in the summer of 2020. Phil has over 40 years of sailing experience while Victor has his own experience and interest in marketing. With the two skills combined, this charter came to be. Boaters love this charter, with one reviewer saying “Fantastic sunset cruise around Scituate Harbor. Scituate Launch EZ Rider/Cedar Point

This launch service in Scituate Harbor provides transportation out to moorings, and transient moorings, and offers harbor cruises. Run by Fran McMillen for over 30 years, this charter service is the dependable and reliable launch service for Scituate Harbor. Additionally, it is home to the “Tag-A-Long Tour;” anyone who has an interest in tagging along on regular trips can also enjoy a 15 and 20-minute ride around the harbor.
