X-Power 33C, a first open motor yacht for X-Yachts

Over the past 40 years, X-Yachts has built a solid reputation in the construction of cruising yachts. However, the year 2021 marked a turning point for the Danish manufacturer, with the launch of its first motor boat, the X-Power 33 C.

To be discovered in France in September 2021

This 10.2m dayboat will be on show in France in September 2021 at the Cannes boat show, with the first 15 boats reserved for the Scandinavian market. Launching itself on a new core market, due to the current situation, the shipyard wishes to be able to ensure a fast technical follow-up in case of need.

A high-performance hull and touch-sensitive controls

Among the distinctive features of the X-Power 33C is its Petestep hull for lower energy consumption and more comfortable passage at sea thanks to these hull deflectors. Secondly, all the controls ( steering , but also ergonomics) of the boat are done from two large 16-inch touch screens in the cockpit. The critical functions will nevertheless be doubled by conventional switches.

A comfortable open for a weekend at sea

This grand open has a closed cockpit at the stern, with a central backrest that folds down to enter the boat . In this space there is a plethora of seating as well as a galley unit with fridge, sink and integrated stove behind the starboard cockpit seats.

A carbon hard-top is optional and can be completed with an integral hood to close the wheelhouse completely, from the windscreen to the stern. Inside, there is a double berth and a toilet with shower.

As standard , the X-Power 33C is equipped with a 370 HP Yanmar inboard engine and a bow thruster.

This first series of boat is delivered with a red hull, a nod to the very first yacht launched by X-Yachts in 1979, the X-79, which also had a red hull. But future owners will have the choice of about ten colours of adhesive.

Capitalizing on the yard's sailing clientele

There are two reasons for this shift in powerboating. First , because this market represents about 90% of the world market. But also because today, X-Yachts has close to 6?000 owners around the world , all convinced of the quality of the brand's boats and interested in powerboating. Either as an additional boat or as a replacement for their sailboat , as owners are getting older.

If for the moment X-Yachts is capitalizing on its sailing clientele, the manufacturer has developed a long-term strategy on motorboats. The 2nd model to come will be an X-Power 33 in a cabin version with an enclosed wheelhouse and larger models - 38/40 feet - are already on the drawing board.

Spacious Comfort:

The cockpit of X-Power 33C is spacious with three pilot seats and eight sofa seats. The cockpit table is height-adjustable and in conjunction with its surrounding space it can be transformed into a sunbed near the bathing platform. The X-Power 33C has an optional T-Top, creating the perfect protection from both sun and wind along with the standard windscreen. A bimini and cockpit tent are optional.

The pantry is easy accessible aft of the pilot seats, it is practically designed and houses as standard a gas cooker and a 30L drawer fridge, with an optional second drawer possible.

Creating the interior of the X-Power 33C, the designer selected only the very best quality materials giving a luxurious first impression. The cabin cushions are produced in a durable upholstery, and will ensure a comfortable lying position and a good night's sleep. Furthermore, there are plenty of light sources in the cabin.

Below deck, there is a nicely appointed compartment with toilet and shower facilities, along with a mirror that doubles as a window when required.

The cockpit:

The control panel is carefully designed to be user-friendly and intuitive to allow the driver to focus on the right thing - enjoying the boat ride in comfort and safety. The navigation and operation system are operated via two integrated 16" screens from Simrad. With only a few operating items at the control console, the boat is easy to pilot for the driver in charge. The built-in control units fit seamlessly into the panel, and thanks to the illuminated display, intuitive guidance and large buttons, the panel is quick and easy to operate.

Facts about petestep:

In the production of X-Power 33C, we are using the patented Petestep® technology that results in a more comfortable and fuel-efficient boat ride. Quieter No more clatter in waves! Because Petestep® hulls don’t have any horizontal flat surfaces that smash the water under the hull, the biggest source of hull noise is removed. This makes Petestep® hulls create a lot less noise from waves, which significantly adds to the comfort of the ride. More stable Petestep® hulls increase stability, both at speed and at the dock. At zero speed, Petestep® hulls have a wider footprint that makes the boat less prone to heeling. When at speed, the deflectors stabilise the boat, once again contributing to a better ride. Leaner Petestep® hulls reduce resistance by removing friction and reducing energy waste. Up to 35% less energy is required to propel the boat forward, which could lead to significantly lower fuel consumption at comparable level of comfort. Softer Conventional spray rails with their flat surfaces are associated with hard landings. Petestep® deflectors, on the other hand, dampens landings and lowers slamming by up to 50%, resulting in unmatched ride comfort.

X-Power 33C first look: Danish sailing yard aims for speed and comfort

Danish shipyard X-Yachts has been building well-respected racing/cruiser sailing yachts for over 40 years but 2021 will be a milestone year for the brand as it launches its first ever powerboat.

As with many other established sailing brands who have recently taken a first foray into motorboat production, the motivation spawned from existing sailing boat customers who liked the idea of a powerboat from a marque that they know and trust.

X-Yachts did things slightly differently, however, and sought a successful blueprint on which to base its X-Power 33C. That blueprint is the HOC Yachts 33, a Swedish performance cruiser that uses the revolutionary Petestep hull form. X-Yachts didn’t just buy the rights to the boat, it took over the company and effectively transported the entire operation from HOC HQ in Sweden to its own base in Denmark on a ship.

The Petestep hull provides the sort of comfortable performance that X-Yachts is renowned for in the sailing world. Outright speed with the single 370hp Yanmar V8 is likely to be just over 40 knots (the yard is yet to complete pre-launch testing) but it’s the efficiency and ride comfort of the Petestep that should make the X-Power 33C such a classy cruiser.

The first five units will all be in the striking red of hull number one – dubbed The Red Baron – but there is a selection of eye-catching colours to choose from. X-Yachts expects to build 15 boats this year at its purpose-built Polish facility but this will increase as build capacity expands.

It’s interesting that, as with other sail to power brands, the shipyard has opted for a T-top sportsboat design but with many of its customers wanting the powerboat to live alongside their sailing boats, maybe a sexy open sportsboat for use in sunny climes is just what the doctor ordered.

Nor does this seem like a flash in the pan: an enclosed version of the boat will arrive in September with another new X-Power model in the pipeline for 2023.

Update: The X-Power 33C is scheduled to make its public debut at the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival .

The result is superior comfort combined with much easier, safer steering, and astonishing control of your boat’s power. The X-POWER offers a unique experience: a feeling of complete mastery of the vessel. The system delivers easy maneuvering with smooth gear-shifting. This translates into improved control in all contexts, regardless of engine and propulsion type.

The X-POWER with Syncro mode synchronizes engine revs even if the levers are slightly misaligned.  Furthermore, activating the Single Lever mode allows the engines to be controlled using a single lever, enhancing the seafaring experience still further.

When Warm Up mode is selected, the system will allow you to increase the engine revs without going into gear.   The Trolling mode, on the other hand, activates the trolling valve to make gear engagement smoother and reduce the boat’s minimum speed. 

The X-POWER also integrates further user-friendly functions designed to give you complete control of the boat and to install up to six stations aboard.

The X-POWER is available in a choice of three models: Classic, Chair and Swan.

Family mourns woman who was found fatally shot in her car: ‘She was a good person’

CONWAY, S.C. ( WMBF /Gray News) - Authorities in South Carolina are investigating after a Conway woman was found dead inside a car earlier this week.

Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said 33-year-old Katelyn Bennett was discovered “after having been shot” in the area of Gore Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Bennett’s family described her as a light to many, a loving mother and a kind person. They said she was recently baptized and was working on her life.

Family also revealed Bennett is the second person in her immediate family to die from gun violence in a single decade, telling WMBF that her father was shot and  killed in 2016 . The man convicted in that case is serving a 30-year sentence.

The Horry County Police Department confirmed Bennett was found in a car near Gore Road and South Carolina Highway 905. A department spokesperson said police were called after initial reports of a vehicle in a ditch.

The incident has left surrounding neighbors concerned.

“At first, it was a car accident, but how did a car get backward in a ditch?” asked a neighbor.

That neighbor, who originally witnessed the large law enforcement presence, wished to remain anonymous, citing fears for her safety with the gunman still possibly on the run.

“It’s kind of hard to get in a car accident that no one else travels on in the daytime, in the afternoon,” said the neighbor. “It’s a bit scary, it’s a bit disturbing. I sure hope they find out what’s going on.”

In the meantime, those who lived by Bennett also mourned her loss. Some said Bennett was a kind-hearted woman and was generous around the community. They also said she always looked out for others while battling her struggles.

“I was going through cancer treatment and she was always checking on me,” said William Mulrain. “She was a good person. She went through a lot.”

Bennett’s family asked for privacy, wishing that her family and child can grieve the tragedy in peace.

This summer we will finalize the first X-Power 33C with twin outboard engines. The powerboat will be ready for sea trial during July and the first boat is ready for delivery January 2023.

During the summer, we will use the boat for selected boat shows and other events both locally and abroad. We have decided to work closey together with two of the biggest brands in this market Yamaha & Mercury. The first boat will be equipped with 2 x 300 hp. Smaller engine sizes will also be available as well as single engines for customers with less requirement for speed and option

When introducing the X-Power 33C with twin outboard motors, it allows for more “Ease of use” features like joystick steering, active trim, adaptive speed control, improved engine data on the twin Simrad MFD & other special features. Not only will it add a different appeal to the boat but also improve performance and maneuverability.

Lawsuit naming Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs as co-defendant alleges his son sexually assaulted woman on yacht

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A lawsuit that names  Sean “Diddy” Combs  as a co-defendant alleges that his son Christian “King” Combs sexually assaulted a woman working on a yacht chartered by his father.

The suit filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court says Sean Combs created the circumstances that led to the assault and paid to cover it up afterward. It’s the latest in a  series of lawsuits  accusing the producer and music mogul of sexual misconduct, and it comes amid a federal sex trafficking investigation that led Homeland Security agents to  raid his homes in Los Angeles and Miami  last week.

Grace O’Marcaigh, who worked as a crew member and a bartender on the boat, says that in late December 2022, Christian Combs pressured her to drink tequila that she believes was spiked with other drugs. He groped her breasts and genitals and attempted to force her to perform oral sex, the suit alleges.

The Associated Press does not typically name people who say they have been sexually abused unless they come forward publicly, as O’Marcaigh has done. She also consented to being named through her attorneys.

Aaron Dyer, an attorney for Sean and Christian Combs, called the lawsuit “lewd and meritless.”

“We will be filing a motion to dismiss this outrageous claim,” Dyer said in a statement.

Dyer called the investigation that brought  last week’s raids  “nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits.”

Sean Combs, who chartered the yacht throughout the holidays in 2022, “had full control of the staff and premises” and created circumstances where her assault was not only tolerated but encouraged.

O’Marcaigh, who was 25 at the time, said when Christian Combs, then 24, came aboard late one night, he appeared heavily intoxicated and began giving her inappropriate attention.

She said the two were in a music studio on board the ship, where producer  Rodney Jones, who filed his own lawsuit  in February, was told to be available around the clock for Sean Combs to work on his next album.

O’Marcaigh said in the suit that Christian Combs was insistent that she take shots of tequila, and she drank out of obligation.

The suit alleges he became increasingly aggressive with her, violently grabbing her arm as she tried to get out of the situation then groping her. The drinks made everything blurry, unusually quickly, the suit says.

Microphones in the studio, where Jones was told to capture everything, recorded their exchange, and the lawsuit includes a transcript where O’Marcaigh demands that Christian Combs stop touching her.

The suit alleges that he later continued the assault in the ship’s movie theater, which was used as a spare sleeping area and where she was attempting to find a place to spend the night because the rooms were all taken, before another crew member appeared and he stopped.

O’Marcaigh told the yacht’s captain about the assault the following morning, but she alleges that after Combs gave him a large amount of cash the same day, the captain failed to meaningfully investigate or take any action.

The suit says O’Marcaigh was eventually fired in retaliation and has since been unable to find work in the music industry where she had planned to build a career. It says since 2022, she has suffered severe emotional trauma.

The lawsuit seeks damages to be determined at trial.

Christian Combs is also a musical artist whose song “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” with Kodak Black topped Billboard’s Mainstream R&B Hip-Hop charts in 2022. He was at his father’s Los Angeles home during last week’s searches, during which he and his brother were handcuffed but not arrested.

The producer Jones’ federal lawsuit, filed in February by Tyrone Blackburn, the same attorney as O’Marcaigh’s suit, includes allegations that Sean Combs coerced him to solicit prostitutes and pressured him to have sex with them.

Dyer’s statement said the newest lawsuit is “filled with the same kind of manufactured lies and irrelevant facts we’ve come to expect from Blackburn.”

He pointed out that U.S. District Judge Denise L. Cote criticized Blackburn in a separate lawsuit on Wednesday and referred him to a disciplinary committee for a “pattern of behavior” where he “improperly files cases in federal court to garner media attention, embarrass defendants with salacious allegations, and pressure defendants to settle quickly.”

Blackburn responded in an email that “a referral is not a sanction” and the statement from Combs’ lawyer was an attempt to “deflect and distract.”

“Christian Combs sexually assaulted Ms. O’Marcaigh, and we have it on tape,” Blackburn said.

Several lawsuits  have brought public scrutiny to the music and business mogul, beginning with a November suit from his former protégé and girlfriend, the  R&B singer Cassie , which alleged years of sexual abuse, including rape. It was  settled the following day .

Combs and his attorneys have denied all of the lawsuits’ allegations.

Combs, a three-time Grammy winner and the founder of Bad Boy Records, is among the most influential hip-hop producers and executives of the past three decades. He turned his hip-hop empire into a broader business empire that includes  private-label spirits , fashion, and a  TV network .
