Friendly staff, nice well maintained pool area with a bar. We've eaten at the pool, the food was nice, very good prices. Service is friendly, good to see nice young kids working their Summer jobs. We have eaten a few times in the main restaurant, the food is always high quality, well priced, and generous portions. Servers are always really friendly. I'm not a member, I've been as a guest each time, always look forward to going.

It was awesome I love the place and it deserves all the kudos although the menu is limited the things they do have are very good. The employees are very nice and helpful. Over all very great!

Well maintained private member club off of Hampton Blvd in Norfolk. Indoor and outdoor amenities include multiple pools, tennis courts, corn hole boards, workout facility, boating docks, adult beverage bar, counter service cafe with HDTV and seating, foosball table plus more. There's an entire building that's the perfect private event venue - weddings, reunions, galas and graduation parties. Crowds are common at the beginning of Summer and seasonal events, creating a domino effect on your overall experience - less available parking, less poolside space/seating, longer lines for bar and food service. The Niçoise salad I had yesterday was ok but nowhere near as good as the fresh ahi tuna steak in sesame glaze I had last August.

Some of the best water views in Norfolk. Food menu in The Deck has a great variety. Pool and fitness facilities are clean and up to date.

The Norfolk Yacht Club was the venue for a friends wedding a few days ago and my first visit here. It's in a very pretty location and looks like it's been around a very long time. I felt the place to be musty and very dated. It really in my opinion needs a major renovation and updating. It gives the feel of an old white gentlemen's club, steeped in history, financial deals & networking. Just my opinion. The wedding itself was beautiful and the marina backdrop perfect. The food was top class, but I think maybe that was more to do with the wedding itself. The staff were very attentive, and eager to please. They have several sections here for events and it's the ideal location. Probably the best location as again in my opinion, Norfolk not the prettiest of places I've been.

Hi Joan, Thank you for your review. I hope you enjoyed your visit to NYCC for your friend's wedding. You're right about our club having been around for a long time, since 1896 in fact! Although, our current clubhouse was built many years later, we recognize that it needs some updates. We're in the planning stages of a Facilities Enhancement Plan to modernize our club and renovate certain areas. We think members and guests will be very pleased with the finial result. We hope you'll have a chance to visit us again in the future!

I don't know how this gets to get Yelp! But I grew up here, I was a Sea Dragon with the Swim Team, I sailed Sunfishes during Summer Sail camp, When my mother would order a screw driver without orange juice, When they promised I wouldn't be loud so we got sat on the adult side during the Wednesday buffet, And played ping-pong in the patio in 2001 before the fitness center... I'm just visiting for the Summer, but everyone that works here has been nothing but kind and respectful. Y'all have a great staff. ... Just read some reviews. People that say "dated" don't understand classic. Don't change. Coming home and my mom and I going up to the deck and just casually walking around, feels like a warm hug.

Great place to spend Memorial Day Weekend! Bar, grill and lots of sun combine some family time as well and couldn't think of a better place to spend the holiday! Cheers

Looking over these reviews, I can understand the varied ratings. After the long-time club manager retired, there was a transition period that resulted in food that did not meet the club's usual standards. I have dined twice recently and am happy to report that my last meal was the finest every enjoyed there and among the finest that I have ever eaten. The new menu is different, but there are ample seafood entrees and appetizer offerings; many locally sourced.

The oyster po'boy was delicious but I am not planning to eat here again any time soon. Our waiter looked disheveled and was on his phone texting behind the bar most of the time. When he read the specials to us he had to read them off a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket. He gave us plates with butter but no bread. At the end of the meal, my friend asked about it and that was when he offered us muffins. Then when we got our checks, there was already an 18% charge with an explanation that it is not considered a tip and that we should tip if we received "superior" service, which, we did not. I was upset I had to pay that extra 18% for basically nothing. For a fancy-looking place, I was not at all impressed with the service. I'm giving 2 stars only because the oyster po'boy was delicious.

Not much to rate, it's a private club on a river. Oops, except, the manager reprimanding my friends for not smoking outside in the correct area. Last time I checked, I did not know you have to be herded while smoking. I thought that was only at Innsbrook after hours in the beer circle.

Lisa & Steven know how to PARTY! I could already tell from their engagement session how much fun they have together and how in love they really are! Lisa looked absolutely stunning in BOTH of her dresses. She debuted a shorter, fun dress just before the choreographed Father/Daughter dance. The dance was amazing and the crowd went wild for it! I couldn’t be happier for Steven & Lisa. They have both been a blessing to work with and I can’t wait to see what life has in store for them <3

A Classic Wedding at Norfolk Yacht and Country Club in Norfolk, Virginia

Everything about Brittany Shaw (24 and a law student) and Benjamin Bowab's (26 and a consultant) wedding was timeless and elegant. From their traditional church ceremony to their ballroom reception at Norfolk Yacht & Country Club, the couple kept it classic. Their navy and white color palette was inspired by the bridesmaid dresses and floral design. "We chose navy bridesmaid dresses and white-flower arrangements, so that set the basis for the color scheme of the other decorations," Brittany says. In keeping with this scheme, the ballroom at the yacht club was covered in white linens and arranged with navy chairs, and table numbers were displayed in white cursive on navy placards. Alternating high and low centerpieces included white roses, white hydrangeas and ivy. These echoed the white hydrangea bouquets that the bridesmaids carried with their navy Bill Levkoff dresses. Brittany also carried a white bouquet with her stunning Justin Alexander ball gown that featured a sparkly beaded neckline. Brittany and Ben's guests enjoyed a night of dancing to music played by Blue Tips Rhythm Revue, and all the special moments were captured by Luke & Ashley Photography. As a surprise, their photographers set up a monitor at the reception that displayed pictures they had taken of the couple earlier in the day. "It was so awesome to see some of our wedding pictures that night."

From Norwich take the A1151 to Wroxham. Entering Wroxham, and after crossing the railway bridge and immediately before passing Shell station on the left, turn right at mini roundabout and take road towards Salhouse. After 100 yards, follow the road round to the right and in 250 yards take a left hand turn, signposted to The Avenue and Wroxham Broad. Sudie Mae Hopkins McCaskey Obituary

Sudie Mae Hopkins McCaskey passed away peacefully with family at the age of 90 on March 4, 2024. A native and resident of Norfolk Virginia, Sudie was the daughter of the late William H. Hopkins Jr. and Sudie Mae Simpson. After graduating from Maury High School, Sudie attended business school in Manhattan before returning home where she began working at the Bank of Virginia. She married Norfolk native the late Edward Braxton McCaskey and became a devoted wife and mother to her three children, living in the Larchmont section of Norfolk. She loved gardening, landscaping, the family pets and was an excellent cook. She and her family also enjoyed frequent neighborhood gatherings, summertime at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club, visits to Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks, and traveling abroad. Everywhere she went Sudie brought her lively nature, intellect and sharp wit. She was a joy to be around.

After the children were grown, she continued her strong work ethic and reentered the work force in a variety of places and positions, from Rosemont Middle School to Old Dominion University, back to the Bank of Virginia and finally Heritage Bank and Trust. She also served as a volunteer at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters and was active at Christ and St. Luke’s Church. A supporter of the arts, she was a member, volunteer and employee at Norfolk’s Chrysler Museum of Art. After the passing of her husband in 2000, she moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, where her youngest son, Philip, lived. There they enjoyed visiting nearby beaches, historic sites and a plethora of natural destinations. She also served as a docent at the city’s Bellamy House Mansion. After five years, Sudie returned to Norfolk.

Later in life, she enjoyed sharing good times and memories with her family and friends, including the “Maury Girls”, a group of postgraduates who joined for monthly luncheons and other occasions to reminisce and enjoy each other’s company.

Sudie Mae Hopkins McCaskey was preceded in death by her brother Jack S. Hopkins, sisters Frances Faye Cahill (late husband Martin Cahill), Nancy Dunn (late husband Frank Dunn), Patricia Jean Pittman (late husband Augustus F. Pittman Jr.), Anne Miller (late husband William Miller) and brother William H. Hopkins III. She is survived by her son Scott B. McCaskey of Norfolk Virginia, daughter Mary Hunter McCaskey Cooper and husband Kevin Cooper of Virginia Beach, Virginia, son Philip D. McCaskey and wife Cathy McCaskey of Madeira Beach, Florida, grandson Skye McCaskey Ball of Boynton Beach, Florida and great grandson Tyler Van Seelen of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Sudie is survived by sister Barbara Smithwick and husband Winton Smithwick Jr. of Palm Springs, California, Connie Hopkins of Williamsburg, Virginia (late husband William H. Hopkins III), along with a myriad of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Sudie will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends, cherishing her memory and the wonderful times shared. May she rest in peace. A private family burial service will precede a Celebration of Life at the Norfolk Yacht & Country Club at 2:00pm Friday, April 26, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chrysler Museum of Art. Online condolences may be offered to the family at hdoliver.com.

• In the Clubhouse persons should wear appropriate country-club attire, which excludes any clothing that is overly revealing or displays any hateful or obscene message.  Appropriate athletic attire and appropriate jeans are permitted in the Clubhouse, if suitable for the occasion.  Gentlemen are prohibited from wearing sleeveless shirts at the Clubhouse, including outdoor terraces and fire pits. Headwear may not be worn inside the NYCC clubhouse except for medical, safety or religious purposes, or for approved special events.  Medical and safety coverings are always acceptable. All other forms of headwear must be removed prior to entry by all members and guests regardless of gender.

House Rules

• All guests must be accompanied at all times by an active member or senior associate unless prior arrangements have been made.
• The smoking of cigars, cigarettes, or pipes is prohibited inside the main Clubhouse, outdoor dining areas, and at the outdoor pool facility except at an approved special event.
• We do not accept cash.
• We ask that you keep cell phone calls to a minimum and be respectful of those around you.

Reciprocal Club Guests

• Visitors from reciprocal clubs are limited to 14 days annually for racquet sports, fitness, and pool use; use of the clubhouse and yachting facilities are not limited throughout the year. Normal guest fees apply for use of facilities outside of the Main Clubhouse. Guests can pay for services by credit card.
