It's flexible and fresh (no buffets), with made-to-order smoothies at breakfast, a la carte lunches, three-course dinners, daily specials, and in-room dining. The program encourages guests to "stop and flop" on arrival for a few days before going out to explore restaurants and bars on the island.

What to Do Nearby

It's a short drive to the shops, bars, and restaurants of Rodney Bay, as well as the St. Lucia Golf & Country Club, the superyacht marina, and Pigeon Island National Park. The fishing village of Gros Islet is about a ten-minute drive from the resort — and travelers are encouraged to join the Friday night jump up parties and full moon beach parties held there.

A clifftop paradise that caters to every request

If you're searching for somewhere truly memorable to stay for that next special occasion, then look no further than St Lucia's Cap Maison. Situated at the northern end of the island, in the Cap Estate area, this family-owned boutique hotel sits on a clifftop, offering views of neighbouring island Martinique and local landmark Pigeon Island. It feels small and intimate, more like a private home than a hotel, and its pretty Hacienda-style aesthetic and gorgeous gardens awash with tropical colour make for an Instagram-worthy retreat...

The accommodation

There's a combination of 49 rooms, suites and villas to choose from but our recommendation is undoubtedly the largest of the Ocean View Villa Suites, which measures a spacious 1,835 square feet. The villa has a large master bedroom and en suite marble bathroom, its own kitchen and sitting room, a garden-view veranda and, most importantly, a large roof terrace with its own pool. Not only are the views from all of its rooms spectacular - you wake up to an almost panoramic view of the ocean peeking through the plantation shutters - but it offers ultimate privacy for couples.

The resort has access to the small and beautifully rustic Smugglers Cove via a door to some steps down at the side of the property. The beach doesn't get the sun all day, but if you're a sun worshipper, you can move to one of the two swimming pools situated in the resort.

Food and Drink

There are two restaurants, overseen by award-winning, British-born chef Craig Jones who received Michelin-training under Raymond Blanc and has been with the hotel since its launch 10 years ago. The Cliff at Cap has a beautiful open-air setting and offers a fine-dining menu filled with French and Caribbean flavours, whereas The Naked Fisherman, located on Smugglers Cove beach, offers a more relaxed beach bar experience but is by no means less imaginative in its offering (we recommend the BBQ Bites tasting menu). Head there for after-dinner cocktails if not supper itself as there's a great atmosphere and often a live band.

For a special occasion, couples can also dine on Rock Maison, a floating platform at the base of the Cap Maison cliff, where you can have a bottle of champagne delivered via a zip line from the top. Alternatively, as the chef informs me, you can be served a private dinner in your room, at the beach, in the gardens, or wherever you wish your romantic setting to be - the hotel is all about accommodating guests' wishes.

Out and about

Any visit to St Lucia would not be complete without a visit to The Pitons, its UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the famous volcanic spires are situated at the other end of the island to Cap Maison, you can take a day trip aboard the hotel's smart motor yacht, and visit the Sulphur Springs and bubbling volcano at Soufrière while you're there. The vibrant Rodney Bay is a 10-minute drive away from the resort and offers a variety of shops and restaurants, and there is also the Jump Up, a Friday-night street party in nearby Gros Islet, which, while many locals will say has become more of a tourist attraction than a real insight into Caribbean culture, is still well worth attending to see the normally sleepy fishing village transformed into a riot of music and street dancing, complete with gregarious food and drink vendors.

Accommodation There are 49 spacious and elegant rooms located in two-storey villas. These range from elegant Gardenview Rooms to swanky Oceanview Villa Suites. Each room features a color palette of creams and Mediterranean hues, a king-size or twin beds with brightly colored cushions and bedspreads, dark wood furniture, charming bathrooms with hand-painted tiles, and all modern amenities. Stylish villa suites come with the added benefit of a kitchen. 2- and 3-bed villas are also available and are ideal for families.

Activities Yoga, Pilates, running and hiking as well as kayaking, Hobie cat sailing, and snorkeling are all on offer. Sunset cruises, dolphin, and whale watching, and scuba diving can be arranged (at extra cost) and golf and sailing are available nearby. For those wishing to explore the island, there is plenty of sightseeing and shopping opportunities. If you have not seen Saint Lucia from the sea you have missed one of the most beautiful sights in the world. You can either visit one of the local restaurants en route, or have our chef prepare an ‘on board’ spread for you and your guests. Keep an eye out for the dolphins and whales too!

Water sports

Sea kayaking, windsurfing, hobie cat sailing, paddle boarding and snorkeling are available right off the Cap Maison beach and supervised by the Cap Maison watersports team. Kite surfing is located a few minutes away on Cas-en-Bas Beach on the Atlantic coast. Diving is excellent in St. Lucia and there are plenty of operators in nearby Rodney Bay Marina who offer regular dives, bespoke dives and Padi approved courses. Cap Maison owners enjoy concessionary golf at the nearby St. Lucia Golf Country Club. Just minutes away, this challenging and undulating par 71 6,685 yard course sits between the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean affording incredible sea views at certain spots.

Hiking & Running Club

Further afield, there are several bespoke tours that will help you climb the Pitons or delve into the depths of the rain forest and wetlands where you can see rare and exotic birds (like the once critically endangered St. Lucian parrot) and other animals.

One day a long time ago one of Cap Maison’s owners took a group of villa owners and guests for a run on some hidden trails along the wild and deserted East Coast. The group loved it so much that from there grew the Cap Maison Hiking & Running Club – and it has been challenging visitors ever since! There are several trails available for all ages, fitness levels and abilities. Whether a dedicated trail runner, casual jogger or hiker there are many wonderful landscapes and scenes to enjoy.

During December the marina becomes a hive of activity as over 250 participants in the annual ARC ( Atlantic Rally for Cruisers ) Challenge across the Rodney Bay finishing line having raced all the way from Gran Canaria.

The Rodney Bay Marina is minutes away and there are day charter operators offering both crewed and bareboat options. A trip to the white sand tiny islands of the Grenadines, surrounded by turquoise transparent water, is a life experience not to be missed.
