Offering our most premium sailing experience, Schooner America 2.0 is the newest, largest, most elegant vessel designed for Classic Harbor Line. Added to the Classic Harbor Line fleet in 2011, America 2.0 offers the most exceptional day sailing one can find. She is the fastest, most refined, and the most comfortable schooner of the fleet.

The past meets the future aboard Classic Harbor Line’s Schooner America 2.0 . She is modeled after one of the most famous maritime icons of all time, the winner of the first “America’s Cup” of 1851, Schooner America .

The “2.0” aspect of the vessel refers to the eco-friendly nature of both her cutting-edge construction materials and her propulsion system created by the designers at Scarano Boat Building, of Albany, New York . Rather than finding a diesel-consuming engine room below decks, you find a large battery bank providing electric propulsion with smaller diesel assist-generators. If you peeled away her hull, rather than finding heavy fiberglass or steel, you’d find an extremely durable 3-layered composite: a sandwich of cedar over balsa core, laminated with an epoxy resin. Split on a horizontal plane, this light 3-layer composite makes up the upper 70% of the hull while the lower 30% is constructed of marine-grade aluminum.

Furthermore, rather than a heavy wooden rig aloft, you find carbon-fiber masts, booms, and gaffs. Together, these strengthening and lightening components of construction, coupled with her modernized power-sourcing, America 2.0 is provided with the ability to move through the water more effortlessly, efficiently and with minimal environmental impact.

Schooner America operates in Key West Fl November through May and May through October in NYC.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all of the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. America 2.0

President and lead designer John Scarano and his team took sailboat design to the next level by combining more than 35 years of naval architecture and marine engineering experience, plus the latest technologies and materials, and putting them all into America 2.0.

She features a self-standing rig, a two part hull with a removable, aluminum deadwood section for water and fuel tanks and electric motors for propulsion.  Her hull planking is constructed out of an end-grain balsa core, sandwiched between two layers of Port Orford Cedar over aluminum ring frames and wooden laminated frames. Structural aspects of the vessel include the use of an aluminum, composite board, carbon (masts), plascore and a variety of other composite materials. She was launched in August 2011 and is Classic Harbor Lines’ flagship vessel at Chelsea Piers.  She spend her winters in Key West.

What could have been a wonderful evening cruise on the water was tainted by a snarky, know it all captain Amber and the constant "come to the helm to have your photo taken". It would have been nice to hear about the history of the FL straights and other interesting facts about the area. When we went down in the cabin to purchase shirts/hats, etc., there was a large obtrusive wooden support under a bench in the cabin that stuck out. My sister tripped on it and fell, later to find out she broke several ribs and sprained her wrist. Upon disembarking the ship, the captain said "are you the one that fell?" No other apology or warning about the hazard. Another person in our group also tripped on the same support but did not fall. The rest of the staff were friendly and competent, even after Amber loudly corrected one of the less experienced skippers. I would recommend this excursion but not the captain. Also, we were seated near the helm where all the photo ops occurred. Perhaps if we were closer to the bow we would have had a better experience. Read more Written March 26, 2024
