About The Adventure

Step aboard a luxurious 51' yacht for an expedition from Maui to the island of Lanai. The day will be filled with whale watching, paddleboarding , island exploration and much more! World Champion paddleboarder and Maui native, Connor Baxter will accompany your charter aboard the impressive 51' Ohana Nui yacht with an all-star crew to ensure that your day on the water is filled with adventure. Aside from teaching you a few tricks on a paddleboard, Connor can provide the inside scoop and locals knowledge on inter island exploration. Please Note: This excursion is offered exclusively for guests of Montage Kapalua Bay. Scroll down to our Special Instructions for the meeting location and other details. See full itinerary below: All Aboard: - Step aboard the most stunning island hopper of all at Maalaea boat harbor where you'll meet your captain, crew, and all star guide for the day. Breakfast will be served as you disembark for your epic journey onboard. Channel Crossing + Lanai Coastal Cruise: - Just over an hour cruise from the Maalaea boat harbor is the Southeastern shore of Lanai. During this short cruise be on the lookout for marine life ranging from whales to dolphins, sea turtles and the occasional native paddleboarder. Kaunolu Bay (Shark Fin Cove): - Arrival to Lanai’s famous Kaunolu Bay - also referred to as “Shark Fin Cove." Spend the morning snorkeling, paddleboarding , and more with one of Hawaii ’s most breathtaking backgrounds. Lunch Onboard: - Enjoy a classic Hawaii an spread for lunch on board...Relax and re-hydrate as the boat continues up the western coast for more exploration. West Coast Exploration: - The West Coast of Lanai features an entirely different topography than Maui , boasting steep cliffs and impressive rock structures. It’s also a great location for Ono fishing . Guests will have the option to drag some lines as the boat approaches the famous Pinnacle rock formations. Snorkeling Caves At Pinnacle Rocks: - As the boat tucks away in one of the several private bays of Lanai’s west side, guests will have the chance to once again get wet, paddleboard, and explore beneath the surface, snorkeling with Connor and the boat crew by your side to lead the way and help you discover Lanai's underwater beauty. Sunset Return: - As the sun begins to set, wind down the day with the wind in your hair and a refreshment in hand, enjoying the many onboard amenities as your epic adventure concludes.

Meet The Guide

Kip Larson has grown up in the waters of Maui since his parents moved to the Island in 1982. With decades of experience in hospitality on Maui , Kip merged his passions for boating and customer service when stepping aboard a 51' luxury cruising yacht. Kip and his close team including Captain Fish and lead stew "Breezy" proudly charter one of the newest yachts on the island, and the only yacht in Hawaii an waters with a seakeeper gyro stabilizer, which eliminates 95% of the boats' roll. With countless amenities, and a magnificent crew, you can rest assured your entire group will be living life to the fullest while onboard.

Special Instructions

Your experience includes round trip transportation to and from the resort. Please meet your driver in front of the resort at 7:15 am for departure unless a different start time is specified. This Adventure is weather permitting. If you do not see the date you are looking for available on the calendar, please inquire and we will do our best to accommodate you!

Cancelation Terms of Service

An adventure is fully refundable (less credit card processing fees) if the adventure is canceled within 24 hours of reserving, or if cancellation occurs at least 7 days before the Adventure is scheduled to begin. About Ohana

With three fully-equipped wet bars, a central open-concept galley, and seamless flow between the yacht’s interior and exterior spaces, Ohana creates a perfect platform to host guests comfortably. Classy lines underscore her modern style with a classic edge. The contemporary decor finds softness in the warm, light woods and coastal blues of her inviting interior. Her bold exterior boasts a custom color hull.

A vast, central lounging space with a panoramic view opens both onto the bow terrace and cockpit. The bow benefits from a cozy lounge, well shielded from sun and wind. To the aft, the saloon merges with the spacious cockpit offering a lovely al fresco dining area. The cockpit overlooks an extra large hydraulic platform that can act as a swim-up island once the jet tender is splashed. From the aft bathing platform, you can launch water toys, try scuba diving for the first time or sun tan all at sea-level. All the areas combined form a universal, open environment where flexibility and freedom reign.

Ohana has a built in scuba diving compressor and an area designated to tanks and top-of-the-line gear. Four Seabobs are also on offer along with a wide array of water toys and adventure sports to try.

Unique to Ohana, a day-head is located in the aft cockpit to allow for maximum comfort during the day. The day head is complete with a wash basin and changing table for our younger guests. In addition, there are two waterfall shower heads by each aft sugar scoop for fresh water rinses throughout the sunny, salty days. Underwater lights line the waterline for an added ambiance in the evening.

High bulwarks and a large beam lend to the superstructure design allowing for a generous flybridge and bimini that extends its full length. Along with dual helms, the flybridge is dedicated to leisure, with comfortable seating, plush sunpads, and a large jacuzzi. There are options to dine al fresco while enjoying movie night with the family or catch a game on the large, retractable flatscreen TV while simultaneously enjoying a 360 view of the Caribbean.

The hulls provide impressive volumes to this large yacht. Airy, luxurious guest cabins encompass king-size beds, roomy closets and storage spaces, retractable TV and an immense bathroom. A perfect setting to unwind and relax after a long day in the sun.

As an avid sailor, experienced diver and adrenaline chaser he finds living and working on the water fitting. For Tyler, chartering is the perfect platform to share his passion for the water. His enthusiasm for the outdoors extends to guiding hikes, exploring remote islands, finding the best jumping spots to plunge into the ocean and showing guests all the best local sites. As your captain, Tyler will make sure you have a fun, safe time on Ohana. Cory’s passion for water sports started at a young age while growing up on the Chesapeake Bay a few miles from Annapolis, Maryland – the US sailing capital. He has over 20 years of experience skippering, racing, teaching and captaining sailboats and is excited to show anyone the ins and out of the sport. He has been cruising the Caribbean since the early 2000’s aboard large sailing catamarans and can share his extensive knowledge of the islands, restaurants and culture with you. Cory was the captain on a Sunreef 60 the past four seasons and is excited to learn the ins and outs of Ohana as the mate.

Chief Stewardess | Emily Busichio

Emily comes from a family of charter boat captains. She was taught from a young age everything about the boating industry and conservation, while being raised on Tybee Island, Georgia. Emily has always had an extreme passion for being on the water and outdoor activities. As a certified yoga instructor, she has taught many practices on the beach, stand up paddle boards and sailboats. Emily has more than 20 years experience in the service industry. She has spent the past five years creating exquisite meals on large catamarans in the Bahamas and the Virgin Islands. As your stew, she will provide wine and cocktails paired to every occasion while making your experience a fun, safe environment.

If you’re interested in adding yoga into your sailing vacation, Emily will be happy to offer three complementary yoga sessions on the boat, beach or stand up paddleboards.

This crew’s strong background in water safety and background in scuba diving makes them capable of providing an extra level of security to all of their guests.

Chef Nikolaj’s menus focus on featuring local items in a creative and sophisticated way. This means fresh-farmed eggs, hand picked microgreens, and island-farmed vegetables when available. Local hot sauces, inspired infused flavors and supporting local every chance we get. 

Breads and baked goods are all made in the galley or sourced from local bakeries. He uses organic and high quality ingredients. Ohana supports keeping sustainability a priority when selecting meats and fish for our guests. 

Dietary requirements and preferences can be met with advance notice. We are happy to accommodate everyone from picky eaters to those on medical diets. Most menu options can be served in a gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian or pescetarian modification easily. Certain diets require high-cost provisioning and may be subject to an additional cost. 

Menus and planned meals are subject to change at any time due to remote provisioning restrictions, guest requests, sailing plans or at the chef’s discretion. 

For celebrations requiring special items, themed decoration or large dessert requests, the guests may be asked to take Happy Hour on shore to give the crew time to set up, set the mood, and aim for a beautiful surprise. Please give advance notice for celebration cakes. 

If your group is interested in starting their morning off with a yoga session from one of our two yoga instructors onboard, Ohana offers a special option…

Movement | Meditate | Mmmmmm

This option allows guests to start their morning with fresh squeezed juices, infused water, and coffee. Guests can then enjoy a guided 60 or 90 minute yoga flow, a short meditation focusing on the movement of water and breathwork, then a nutritious smoothie for breakfast and a ginger-tumeric immunity booster!

This option is great for those who feel three meals, including a three-course dinner and snacks, a day is too much or who would like to be mindful about their health while on vacation. OM and YUM in paradise!

It certainly was a trip down memory lane. Later that day we had afternoon tea with Troy's nana, mum and aunty Margaret who worked at the yacht club for 25? years that co ran the Sydney Hobart yacht race. We reminisced about the many people we both knew and caught up with 'where are they now" stories. Lots of funny stories. So to recap,palms, Tassie food and sailing stories, does not get any better :-)

“Journey to Make Pono” set for April 6, at 4th annual ‘Ohana Fest’

The Maui News

The Ho’oikaika Partnership will host the 4th annual ‘Ohana Fest “Journey to Make Pono” on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens. The event is designed for families who are eligible for services offered by partner agencies. It promises a day of fun-filled activities, valuable community resources, music, and giveaways.

Highlights of the event are to include: Native Hawaiian cultural activities, games, book giveaways, and raffle prizes. Information booths featuring 25 local agencies. Entertainment by Sweet & Salty, the Baldwin High School Drumline, Uncle Wayne, and Halau Hula Keola-Ali’i O Kekai. A proclamation ceremony for child abuse prevention month by Mayor Bissen at 10:30 a.m., organized by Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of Maui.

This year’s theme revolves around the children’s storybook, “Kalo Boy’s Adventure to Make Pono: He Huaka’i ‘Ohana,” authored by Ho’oikaika partners and illustrated by award-winning Native Hawaiian artist Solomon Robert Nui Enos. The story emphasizes the importance of family and friends working together to overcome challenges. The book is part of an ongoing public education campaign to promote protective factors, reduce the stigma associated with seeking help, and foster early literacy.

“Our theme, A Journey to Make Pono, aligns perfectly with Child Abuse Prevention Month,” Heidi Allencastre said, ho’oikaika’s community engagement committee Co-chair and family navigator at Maui family support services. “Healing on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels is part of the journey, especially in households where abuse has occurred. After the August wildfire devastation, our island community is on a collective journey to make things right, especially in Lahaina.”

As Maui continues to recover, the event is aimed to provide families with an opportunity to heal in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, according to the The Ho’oikaika Partnership.

“Collaboration is key to this journey,” said Euconfra Meekhof, Maui family peace center program supervisor and Ho’oikaika leadership hui representative. “Ho’oikaika Partnership brings our community together to reaffirm our commitment to our ‘ohana and the ‘āina. We are a multicultural collective dedicated to supporting, inspiring, and motivating all individuals we encounter.

Established in 2008, the Ho’oikaika Partnership comprises community organizations, individuals, county, and state agencies united in preventing child abuse and neglect in Maui County. The work of Ho’oikaika Partnership is made possible through the generous funding from our donors including the Maui Strong Fund, administered by the Hawai’i Community Foundation. IND Architects to Renovate Historic Water Tower in Moscow

IND Architects has plans to transform the symbolic Shcherbinka water tower in Moscow, Russia into a revitalized area for residents to socialize. Since the water tower has been only slightly altered over time with the overall form and silhouette remaining the same, the design team has decided to create a place that will both aim to recall old memories and create new ones.

To activate the historical interior space of the water tower, IND Architects created a number of spaces including areas where exhibitions can be on display, meetings and conferences can be held, and other events can occur in flexible, multipurpose rooms. The program also includes a café, a co-working area, and a large hall that features an opening façade to the landscape space. In the warmer seasons, concerts and sports events can be organized here.

The design of the water tower also placed a strong emphasis on how visitors will move through the volume and be able to experience all of the different areas. They will first enter the elevator and be taken to the top floor, and circulate down the stairs, passing and observing each program.

The water tower is lined with glass, allowing plenty of light to flow in and connect the visitors back to the landscape. At night, the tower will radiate a soft glow, showing the interesting programs and events happening inside.
