It's been a long offseason so far with some chilly days but we have a good season ahead of us and they will be ready for it!

Alex Gershowitz Named 2023 Docks Young Leader Award Recipient for Outstanding Contributions to the Marina Community December 1, 2023

Sam’s Star Island Yacht Club & Marina has announced its General Manager, Alex Gershowitz, has been named as one of the recipients of the 2023 Docks Young Leader Award. This accolade celebrates Mr. Gershowitz’ remarkable contributions to the marina community, recognizing him as a rising star in the industry.

Mike from Star Island Yacht Club let me know bottom fishing has been extraordinary for tog with some 6 to 8 pounds being the regular when the boats come back to the dock. Striper fishing is super at the moment local to the point from 5 to 20 pounds with a lot of them in the mix. Poppers are the most exciting way to catch them around the blitzing fish but bucktails tipped with a jig strip are another great option for quick catch and release according to Mike.

• Our flybridge sundeck (the main hangout) offers panoramic views of the coast and harbor. The flybridge also provides the perfect spot to watch the sun go down on our Sunset Cruise
• Plenty of room to lounge up on the bow (front of the yacht) cushions or full beam bench seating on the aft deck
• A clean, functional head (bathroom) for our guest’s comfort
• Fully functional galley for storing and preparing food & beverage
• Large, open salon with plush seating
• Enclosed areas are air-conditioned
• The second level of the flybridge has full wraparound bench seating.
• This area also has a fold up-down table for dining.
• Inside (under air) there is a large salon that has additional seating, as well as a full kitchen.

Dining at City Island Yacht Club

“The Galley” restaurant is open to members and their guests for lunch and dinner Fridays through Sundays from May to mid-October, and on Wednesday nights during the Big Tom racing season (May through August). Social events are scheduled throughout the sailing season. Members especially look forward to post-race dinners and parties.

Indoor and outdoor dining can be enjoyed throughout the season; members gather either in the formal dining room, pub, on the porch or on the lawn overlooking Eastchester Bay with spectacular sunsets and a view of the Manhattan skyline. On-site parking is available to members and their guests. 

Dining room and meeting facilities are available for private parties, including weddings and business meetings.
