The genesis of ABC Yacht Charters dates back to 1947 when its innovative founder, Alice Lundberg Perry, launched her inaugural fleet from the shores of Lake Union, in the heart of Seattle, WA. In the early years, ABC offered several different styles of adventure travel, including “fly-in” fishing & hunting trips, sightseeing tours and, of course, boat charters. In 1952, relishing in the true joy of boating, Ms. Perry commissioned the building of “Princess Alice”, her private yacht. Armed with personal boating

north of Seattle, in Anacortes, the gateway to the San Juan Islands. This move allowed charterers to be in the incomparable San Juans in a matter of moments. Having discovered the charm of the Islands for themselves as charter boat owners, Gene and Carolyn Jordeth affiliated with ABC in 1971 and, shortly thereafter, became its owners. In 1974, their forward thinking approach brought the addition of an on-site Yacht Maintenance and Repair facility

to maintain their growing fleet of yachts. Seeing a need to assist potential boat owners in their search for a quality yacht, ABC Yacht Sales was also formed. In 1992, ABC Alaska Yacht Charters was created to accommodate boaters wanting to explore the “Final Frontier” of Southeast Alaska. 1996 brought further expansion and consolidation to the yacht charter market when ABC acquired the assets of Ledger Marine Charters, an established Seattle charter company, returning an ABC presence back to its Seattle roots. 2008 opens a new chapter in the company’s 56 year history. Enamored with the Northwest Charter experience since his childhood, John Hackstadt purchased ABC Yacht Charters to live the fulfilling career of bringing Northwest Cruising that he loved to others. ABC is now poised to further expand the vision into the new millennium. ABC will continue to persue the goal of providing cfantastic charter vacations in the Pacific Northwest, as well as offering additional vacation opportunities to present and future clients. For 56 years, ABC has been recognized as the Northwest’s finest yacht charter organization, making cherished memories and vacation dreams a reality and for generations of boaters.

CLIMATE: Temperatures in the ABC Islands are uniformly hot, averaging around 28 to 30 °C (82.4 to 86.0 °F) year-round, with high humidity and minima rarely falling below 20 °C or 68 °F even on the mildest mornings, although afternoons rarely top 35 °C or 95 °F.

The 5th edition of the International exhibition of yachts and boats –  Moscow Boat Show , held from March 20 to 25, 2012 will be hosted by the first pavilion of Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre. This popular show is dedicated not only to the specialists of the market segment and professional sportsmen but also to those who consider sailing sport to be their hobby and well cherished dream.

The project is the result of joint efforts of the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre and the National Marine Industry Association. The event is supported by Aston Martin Moscow, Burevestnik Group logistics department and the Yachting specialized magazine. Moscow Boat Show is the largest project in Russia presenting all the best in the world of yachting.

The exhibition annually shows high level of attendance and has already proved as significant and noteworthy event in the world of yachts and boats. Every year new exhibitors join the list of participants, genuine “sharks” of yachting business, the quantity of visitors considerably increases and the exposition becomes more sated and diverse.

The best companies professionally involved into yachting and small navigation business – 180 exhibitors from 17 regions of the Russian Federation and 15 countries traditionally presented the best and the newest in the world of yachting at 2011 edition: from design and facilitation of vessels and up to cruising and training courses for beginning skippers. In 2011 the overall exhibit space comprised 18 000 sq m. More than 25 000 visitors came to the show.

This year the exposition space will increase up to 30 000 sq m and will be accommodated in 4 exhibition halls. The scale of the project confirms confident positions of its positive development. The organizers will try to arrange a genuine fiesta of water on land!

Quite a number of foreign exhibitors will participate in the show. Foreign companies show increasing interest to yachting business in Russia.

Moscow Boat Show provides the perfect platform from which to preview new products, evaluate market trends, and establish long-lasting and commercially profitable partnerships. Despite the dynamic changes taking place in Russia and the rapid growth of the yachting sector, the show continues to complement and reflect the industry’s demand and is a promotional opportunity not to be missed!

As its popularity and success rate has grown over the last years Moscow Boat Show 2012 has developed to incorporate more than just an exhibition. "As the wind got up through the rest of the afternoon, we watched the boat drifting and dragging on its anchor and eventually it just dragged way too far and ended up on the beach," Mr Coe said.

At one stage Mr Coe and two friends used jetskis to get out to the boat to see if they could do anything to help.

He said he could not understand why it was not salvaged before it ran aground near Green Point.

"There was definitely some damage to the boat but it was in perfectly good condition [before that]," Mr Coe said.

Clean-up concerns

Locals spent Tuesday morning on the beach, dragging piles of debris above the high tide mark in a bid to ensure it is not taken back out to sea with the next high tide on Tuesday evening. 

Angourie resident Kim Wood said the usually pristine beach at Green Point looked like a "rubbish dump".

"I'm looking at kilometres of debris," she said.

"There is timber, there is oil cans, jerry cans full of diesel, so much plastic, and everything is soaked in diesel.

"You can still see all debris in the ocean."

Ms Wood said the area was home to a wide range of birdlife including oyster catchers and curlews.

Too dangerous to tow

NSW Maritime said the boat was deemed too dangerous for authorities to board or tow.

Senior boating safety officer Bret Ryan said authorities needed to put safety first.

"Marine Rescue revisited the boat several times on Monday, and eventually the Water Police came from Coffs Harbour," Mr Ryan said.

"They came to the same conclusion that it was too dangerous."

"At that point the vessel was secure and the hope was it would remain in that position but unfortunately that didn't happen."

Mr Ryan said the main hazard on the beach was from any sharp objects that might remain buried in the sand.
