Historically, the Danish people are well known for their sailing prowess and talent for boatbuilding. In the southern Jutland town of Haderslev, X-Yachts and Yanmar are helping keep this tradition very much alive.

“We are surrounded by so much water and therefore have a strong history of sailing,” says Kræn Brinck Nielsen, CEO of X-Yachts. Kræn grew up sailing dingies and excelled enough to represent his country. Later, he was offered his dream job at the helm of this local shipyard that has built its reputation as the best in performance yacht design and construction.

“It was an easy choice – I’ve known this company since I was eight years old and have sailed X-Yachts my whole career,” he adds. “Having something you are passionate about in your backyard was almost too good to be true.”

We have all been there. When you are a sailor yourself and you first charter a mainstream charter production boat, with family or friends for a week, there is one nagging word that haunts you throughout the experience; “compromise”.

Our charter base is located at Olympic Marine in Lavrio, Greece. It’s a 35-minute drive from Athens International Airport and just 16 nautical miles from the start of the most scenic area of the Greek archipelago. The location is of key importance from which you are able to venture to the hundreds of Greek islands and the Mediterranean when the season starts.

“ X-Yacht Sailing Centre – Our View… A Breath of Fresh Air! A last minute change of rules on Covid left us looking for somewhere to take Savvy XP55 that after two years of servicing overdue was in need of some specialist love and care. For the last few seasons we have been trying to find somewhere with reliable professionals and sensible price lists with a long list of bad experiences across the Mediterranean… then we arrived by chance at X-Yachts Sailing Centre. We were hopeful the X-Yacht name was a good sign but really didn’t know what to expect when arriving with some quite significant maintenance issues including a troublesome generator that had been worked on by three different engineers before without success and a long list of essential maintenance and repairs. From the moment we arrived at very short notice to a very warm welcome from George Jason Stella Bill and the team things started to happen, within days a full list of works was agreed engineers had been on board that understood the boat, its peculiarities and were already fixing issues others had attempted and failed to fix elsewhere for over a year. They run a yacht care program which to begin with we were hesitant about having been promised the earth elsewhere and getting very little. Having now experienced it I would thoroughly recommend this. They take care of everything, have the best of the technicians to hand and access to a vast parts network all at near to at cost levels with a simple understandable, and what we feel a very reasonable fee for their management of everything. The concierge like service that the team has given us has made life so easy through a difficult time with global restrictions. Nothing is too much trouble, they care for the boats like they own them, they are sensitive and sensible and never spend our money without discussion. They have also done a great deal more than we had ever expected putting Savvy back to better than delivery condition after some clever modifications. Olympic Marine is also situated perfectly for international travel and has immediate access to a sailing mecca of the Aegean Islands, with the Ionian and Turkey a stone's throw away. In short… these are good and decent welcoming people who do things the right way always. It is just about the only place outside Haderslev that we know we don’t have to worry when leaving Savvy… Our only worry is that having found them we will find it difficult to leave when we stretch our legs further afield! Rhysida ransomware group claims MarineMax yacht dealer attack

US luxury yacht dealer MarineMax was reportedly attacked by the Rhysida ransomware group earlier this month.

The company, which experienced record revenue this year, filed a report on March 10 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, announcing that it had experienced a "cybersecurity incident."

The Florida firm said that it took "immediate measures to contain the incident," but portions of the business experienced some disruption. In the Form 8-K filing, there was no mention of ransomware, and its operations "continued throughout this matter in all material respects."

It added: "The Company does not maintain sensitive data in the information environment impacted by the incident.”

However, RansomLook.io reports that Rhysida uploaded a sample of the data they allege to have taken from MarineMax onto their website. The collections of documents do not reveal their specific nature. It appears that most of the disclosed documents primarily feature financial accounts.

Cybersecurity analyst Dominic Alvieri reportedly posted an image on X, showing that Rhysida was holding a seven-day auction for the documents. The caption stated, “Open your wallets and be ready to buy exclusive data.”

Rhysida might still release the data publicly if the bids don't meet its expectations, given that the current price is set at 15 Bitcoin, which is equivalent to $1.007 million.

“With just seven days on the clock, seize the opportunity to bid on exclusive, unique, and impressive data,” its website reads.

“We sell only to one hand, no reselling, you will be the only owner!”

MarineMax boasts a global presence with more than 125 sites, encompassing 78 dealerships and 57 marinas. Employing close to 4,000 individuals, MarineMax reported revenues exceeding $500 million in the first fiscal quarter of 2024.

Other Rhysida ransomware targets

It's not the first time the group has attacked a high-profile target. In December 2023, it made good on a promise to leak gaming and personal data related to Insomniac Games .

The Spider-Man developer refused the ransom demand of 50 Bitcoin (BTC), which is equivalent to around $2 million.

This resulted in the sharing of sensitive information online about the company's gaming projects including screenshots from Wolverine , but more importantly personal details of Insomniac staff. It was alleged that the ransomware group released 1.67 terabytes of data, made up of more than 1.3 million files.

Über die Weihnachtsferien bleibt die Werft, das Office und die Segelmacherei vom 24. Dezember bis 7. Januar geschlossen.

Wir freuen uns, die Aktion ‘ Weihnachtspäckli.ch ’ dieses Jahr erneut zu unterstützen. Die Geschenke (letztes Jahr waren es schweizweit 117’800 Päckli) werden hilfsbedürftigen Menschen in Osteuropa überreicht.
