Revealed: Tankoa 50m superyacht Olokun underway
Tankoa’s 50 metre all-aluminium superyacht S501 Olokun has been captured underway for the first time following delivery.
The yacht, which is the third hull in Tankoa’s 50 metre series following Bintador and Vertige , was launched in Genoa on September 12 and sold by Camper & Nicholsons.
Started on spec, Olokun was sold in March 2020 and features a striking black hull and metallic grey superstructure.
Designed by Francesco Paszkowski , Olokun features a layout largely the same as the two sisterships but with two main differences. The main deck aft will be wholly dedicated to a large lounging area while the forward master cabin will feature a private lounge that can be converted into an extra ensuite cabin.
Previously speaking about the alteration, Tankoa chief executive Vincenzo Poerio said: “S501 hull number three was started on spec and the owner came into the project quite late during construction, but as a boutique shipyard we wanted to offer him maximum flexibility to tailor the yacht to his personal needs."
Poerio described the master cabin as "a good example".
"It meant cutting a hole in the bulkhead and re-routing all the wiring so his private office could be converted into a cabin." The interior decor meanwhile has been designed by Casadio Miami.
Power will come from conventional diesel propulsion for a top speed of 17.5 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.

Tankoa Yachts Launches “Olokun”
- By Yachting Staff
- Updated: September 29, 2020
Tankoa Yachts in Italy has completed the technical launch of Olokun , a 164-foot Francesco Paszkowski design that is Hull No. 3 in the shipyard’s 50-meter series of all-aluminum yachts.
Interior décor is by Casadio Miami/London.
Olokun has a semi-displacement hull and conventional diesel propulsion. Tankoa says the yacht’s top speed is 17.5 knots, with a cruising speed of 14 knots.
Features include foldout terraces in the owner’s stateroom forward on the main deck; a side-loading tender garage in the stern; and a beach club at the transom.
What sets Olokun apart from her predecessors are a main deck aft that’s dedicated to what the yard calls “an enormous lounge,” an upper-deck dining room, and a private study in the master stateroom that converts to an ensuite stateroom.
“S501 Hull No. 3 was started on spec, and the owner came into the project quite late during construction, but as a boutique shipyard we wanted to offer him maximum flexibility to tailor the yacht to his personal needs,” Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Tankoa, stated in a press release. “The second cabin connected to his own suite on the main deck is a good example. It meant cutting a hole in the bulkhead and rerouting all the wiring so his private office could be converted into a cabin.
“Another example is the distinctive black hull and metallic gray superstructure,” he added. “Dark hulls can absorb the sun’s rays and overheat, but in order to satisfy the owner’s request and achieve optimal results, Tankoa specified the most high-performance coatings available that reduce the temperature of the metal hull.”
When is Olokum scheduled for delivery? At the end of November.

OLOKUN: ON BOARD TANKOA'S 50M JET-BLACK SUPERYACHT.
Tankoa’s 50-metre Olokun may be the third in a series, but a bold, original design approach makes her a true individual. Risa Merl explores her minimalist interior and clever customisations...
“ I don’t understand why people put so much stuff inside boats ,” muses Dio Rodriguez, head of design studio and furniture maker Casa Dio and interior designer for the 50-metre Tankoa yacht Olokun.
Much like the Coco Chanel adage that “ it’s always better to be underdressed ”, Rodriguez subscribes to the idea that less is more. This is abundantly apparent in Olokun ’s minimalist interior that pairs white furniture and carpets with open-grain oak floors and ceilings and jet-black walls. Certainly a rarity in yacht interiors, the black oak walls that clad the living areas and guest cabins mean the eye is drawn instead to the blue sea beyond the windows.
Olokun is the third hull using Tankoa’s S501 series platform, but her stark interior and gleaming black and silver exterior paint make her stand out from her predecessors, Vertige and Bintador. Francesco Paszkowski designed the S501 series, creating a contemporary exterior with a vertical bow, imposing stern and compact superstructure. There is a good balance between the deck overhangs and vertical lines, while geometric windows give the feeling of movement.
Hull No 1, Vertige, was launched in 2017 and has proven herself a successful charter yacht. Bintador won the category of Displacement Motor Yachts Below 499GT (40 metres and above) in the World Superyacht Awards 2020, and has been used extensively and privately by her owner. The S501 series comes with either traditional or hybrid propulsion, the latter of which was chosen for Bintador and hull No 4, which has already been sold and will be delivered next year.
Olokun was started on spec by the Italian yard and was halfway complete when the owner arrived on the scene, introduced by broker Fernando Nicholson of Camper & Nicholson’s Miami office. “ The client and owner’s rep [Rodriguez] liked the design and style, and liked that they didn’t have to wait for two years for delivery, so they came to visit the yard to see what they could and couldn’t do ,” says Giuseppe Mazza, Tankoa’s sales and marketing manager. “ They wanted a completely different feel and colour scheme in the interior .”
Usually, Tankoa would suggest Margherita Casprini, part of Paszkowski’s design team, for the interior. “ But when you have a client who comes with his own interior decorator, they know what they want ,” says Mazza, “ which, from our side, is cool – we saved time because they were decisive .”
Rodriguez served as both designer and owner’s rep for the project. Having worked with Olokun ’s owner for a decade on various projects – from houses and yachts to planes – he knows this client well. The private jet he also designed for the owner has a very similar style to Olokun ’s. “ We have 100 per cent compatible energy, so we have fun ,” says Rodriguez. “ If I don’t have fun, I would rather not take on a project .”
His Casa Dio studio is based in Miami’s Design District and there is also a showroom in London. Primarily a furniture maker, Casa Dio has embarked on a multi-million dollar, multi-year plan to expand the studio’s design offerings. This includes commercial, residential and yacht interior design. While Casa Dio has done various yacht interior refits, Olokun is its first new build. It’s also both the designer’s and owner’s largest yacht project to date. The owner is a yachting enthusiast who owned a 46-metre before this. While Olokun is the third boat Rodriguez has designed for this particular client, it’s the first where he has had so much leeway on the design.
Tankoa considers itself a boutique yard capable of a high level of customisation, even to projects initiated on spec. “ We only do two yachts per year, so we can achieve things that others can’t ,” says Mazza. Thus the yard was game for the gauntlet thrown down by the client and his designer. Challenges included reconfiguring the layout and cutting metal in the main deck bulkheads. The owner requested that the main deck VIP cabin be connected to the owner’s cabin, so the yard had to cut the metal of the bulkhead and redo all of the completed wiring around that area, which took at least an extra two weeks.
These changes created a massive owner’s suite. Just aft of the master, the VIP has two sofas, a bed, desk and en suite, so it can be used as an office or an extra bedroom. The master itself has a bed on the centreline and a his-and-hers bathroom forward, finished in white Calacatta marble. Tankoa always proposes for the owner’s cabin to have foldable terraces, and in the case of Olokun they opted for one on each side, complemented by opening windows to let the breeze through. The master is a darkened cocoon, with black ceilings and floors contrasted with a white headboard and linens on the bed, and light oak furniture.
Olokun ’s interior decor is minimal with clean lines, no frills and a high contrast between black, oak and bright white soft goods. Rodriguez was inspired by Japanese design, “ the simplicity, along with its discretion in its colours, shapes and structure ”, he says. “ I wanted to achieve clarity through the elimination of the non-essential, leaving only the essential .”
Casa Dio designed all the custom-made indoor and outdoor furniture for the yacht. Though minimalist in appearance, the furniture and interiors were designed with comfort in mind, and what Rodriguez finds comfortable and calming at the moment is a subdued colour scheme of charcoal and black mixed with open-grain natural oak and smooth, honed stone.
Paszkowski, meanwhile, says he met the yard’s brief for “ outdoor entertaining spaces as large and as comfortable as possible on every deck, with an interior that preserves its purpose of offering shelter without losing its connection to the sea ”. To achieve the latter, gunwales on the main deck were lowered to allow for panoramic views when guests are seated in the main saloon, where white sofas are paired with Casa Dio Makotto coffee tables made from Calacatta stone with strong black veins.
Throughout Olokun , the dark walls are balanced with white Loro Piana soft goods, with cashmere throws, wool and cashmere rugs and interior furniture fabrics in Loro Piana’s “absolute white” twill. The walls won’t stay blank for long, as the owner has a curated collection of art specifically for this project that has yet to be installed. What won’t be joining the art, however, is the distraction of any televisions – there are none in the shared living spaces or the owner’s cabin. “ The owner doesn’t like televisions, so you don’t have them in the yacht except in the guest cabins ,” says Mazza. “ He said, ‘When I’m on board, I want to enjoy the yacht and go swimming. I’m not going to stay inside and look at a TV .” The bridge deck also forgoes an upper saloon-cum-cinema layout, as is popular on many yachts today. Instead, aft of the bridge is a black-walled formal dining room that opens out onto an even larger dining table of the aft bridge deck.
But the owner’s cabin, main saloon and upper deck saloon all have wiring for televisions to be installed in the future. Tankoa pushed for this sort of future-proofing that would prime Olokun for easy resale or to be used for charter one day. A good example of this can be seen on the lower deck. The owner travels with his own 15-metre chase boat and has no intention to use this space as a garage. So rather than creating a dual-purpose garage/beach club as on previous S501 yachts, Olokun ’s garage is outfitted purely as a luxury space clad in teak. But hidden behind the wood are the foundations for a functional garage, with a crane as well as a cradle for a seven-metre tender.
“ The client wanted a larger beach club, but we told them to think about resale – you won’t sell the boat if you don’t have a garage ,” says Mazza. The transom of the beach club folds out to create a wide swim platform, which can be adorned with plush grey chaises shaded by black umbrellas. The beach club is complemented by other grand areas for outdoor entertaining on board, such as the large forward bow lounge and the sundeck with a spa pool, bar and table for al fresco dining.
Because of Covid-19 and travel rules changing day by day, the owner didn’t come to the yard as often as he might have. The lack of yard visits was made up for with plenty of Zoom tours, as well as meetings in London, where Casa Dio has an office, when it was allowed. Unfortunately, the owner couldn’t even make Olokun ’s launch but he was “extremely thrilled” to see the final product, says Rodriguez. “ It was truly a wonderful experience watching his reaction. Getting to watch the emotions of the owner seeing this project come to life after an entire design process is one of the main reasons why I enjoy what I do. ” Olokun ’s owners will spend their first season in the Med, then the yacht will likely go to Florida and the Caribbean for the winter season. One can imagine how the black walls will perfectly frame the brilliant blue waters of these lower-latitude cruising grounds.
Mazza is satisfied that Tankoa was able to do something completely different with Olokun . “ The interior design is very particular; some people like it a lot, while other people say it’s too clean ,” says Mazza. As for the “particular” interior, Rodriguez makes absolutely no apologies. This isn’t a boat meant to appeal to the masses, but to suit the tastes of her owner alone. “ So many boats are cut and paste. Do you want someone else’s taste or do you want something made just for you? ”.

M/Y OLOKUN is the third hull produced from the S501 platform and follows swiftly on from the success of the first hull, motor yacht VERTIGE , which was launched in 2017, and motor yacht BINTADOR , launched in 2019, to make the model the shipyard’s best-seller.

OLOKUN immediately distinguishes herself from her sister hulls by her stormy black hull accented minimally with a low silver superstructure. This sultry appearance required a different approach compared to light coloured hulls: Dark hulls have a tendency to overheat in the sunshine and to prevent this the shipyard used special awlgrip coatings that reduce the temperature of the hull by as much as 10°C.

Superyacht OLOKUN boasts exterior styling and a layout by renowned designer Francesco Paszkowski , while the refined interiors come from prolific design studio Casa Dio Miami|London. True to contemporary trends, the interiors use natural materials and colours for a serene and welcoming environment. The simple and clean lines are inspired by Japanese design, enhanced by top quality fabrics from prestigious Italian brand Loro Piana and unique bespoke furniture by Casa Dio Miami|London that was created just for the interiors of OLOKUN.

Brushed oak is used on the ceilings, walls and flooring in three different shades: Natural, Tokyo Black and Bitter Grey. Plush jute and wool carpeting from Loro Piana is found within the bedrooms, while the bathrooms are finished in Calcatta and black marquina marble trims and Compac high-tech quartz.

The Owner opted for several changes to the exteriors and interiors, namely the relocation of the formal dining room to the upper deck to dedicate the main deck aft to the main salon, the conversion of the side-loading tender garage in the stern to additional space for the beach club, a private office for the Master suite that can be converted into an extra cabin.

Similar to the previous S501 models, OLOKUN has fold-down terraces off the main salon and Master suite on the main deck forward as well as a sundeck Jacuzzi and bar, and a spa within the beach club on the lower deck.

Twin MTU 8V4000 M54 engines allow superyacht OLOKUN to travel at a top speed of 17.5 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots while an economical 10 knots grants a transatlantic range of 4,500 nautical miles.

Following the delivery of 50-metre Olokun to her new owner at the end of last year, Tankoa has released the first running images of the full-aluminium yacht. Photographed on route to the Côte d’Azur where she will spend her first season, the images highlight the yacht’s dramatic black hull and metallic grey superstructure.
“For me it was a great pleasure to participate in the completion and delivery of Olokun while respecting the established deadlines, despite the serious pandemic that has hit the whole world,” says Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Tankoa Yachts. “Western Liguria is full of successful shipyards dedicated to refit, but Tankoa in the only yard in this economic sector that has new-build superyacht construction as its core business. I’m convinced that by working with local authorities we will be able to grow Tankoa more and more until it becomes a point of reference in the global superyacht market.”
Olokun began life as an on-spec project that was sold and project managed by Camper & Nicholsons. With exterior and interior design by Francesco Paszkowski and decors by Casadio Miami, the interior layout is similar to her 50-metre predecessors, Bintador and Vertige. Her distinctive black hull, however, is unique and was created using a high-performance coating that reduces the temperature of the metal in sunlight by up to 10°C.
“This was a very stimulating project as the experienced client signed the contract when the boat was already 50 per cent complete,” says Giuseppe Mazza, Tankoa Sales Manager. “By collaborating with both C&N and the owner’s team, headed up by Casadio Miami, we were able to deliver a beautiful yacht that fully met the client’s expectations. I’m sure that the sporty lines of the 50-meter Tankoa combined with this new and catchy hull colour, will grab the attention of many enthusiasts in the most prestigious marinas in the world.”
Two more 50-metre projects are currently in build at the Tankoa facility in Genoa and the company is continuing with due diligence procedures with a view to acquiring the Cantieri di Pisa brand and shipyard.

Tankoa Yachts launches M/Y Olokun
The third hull in its 50m all-aluminium series….
At its boutique shipyard in Genoa, Tankoa Yachts announced the technical launch of 50m M/Y Olokun (S501 hull no.3), designed by Francesco Paszkowski with interior décor by Casadio Miami/London. The 50m series platform has reportedly been fine-tuned and perfected, both technically and aesthetically, with each new launch. M/Y Olokun has a semi-displacement hull combined with conventional diesel propulsion for a top speed of 17.5 knots, and a cruising speed of 14 knots.
The layout is similar to her predecessors, with fold-down terraces in the owner’s suite on the forward main deck, a side-loading tender garage in the stern, and a beach club in the transom. However, the yard notes that there are two important variations. The main deck aft is dedicated exclusively to a lounge for relaxation with the dining room on the upper deck, while the forward master stateroom features a private study that can be converted into an extra ensuite cabin.
“S501 hull no.3 was started on spec and the owner came into the project quite late during construction, but as a boutique shipyard we wanted to offer him maximum flexibility to tailor the yacht to his personal needs,” comments Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Tankoa Yachts. “The second cabin connected to his own suite on the main deck is a good example. It meant cutting a hole in the bulkhead and re-routing all the wiring so his private office could be converted into a cabin.”
Another example of the ways in which Tankoa proved itself to be a specialist in custom vessels is the distinctive black hull and metallic grey superstructure. Dark hulls can absorb the sun’s rays and overheat, but in order to satisfy the owner’s request and achieve optimal results, Tankoa specified the most high-performance coatings available that reduce the temperature of the metal hull by as much as 10°C. “We wanted to deliver a finished product that surpasses expectations and the end result is spectacular,” concludes Poerio.
The yacht systems will now be fully tested and the interior outfitting will be completed prior to sea trials and final delivery scheduled for the end of November. M/Y Olokun's exclusive interior design is by Casadio Miami/London, US-based studio with experience in the residential, aviation and marine sectors.

Tankoa Yachts Olokun: first exclusive running images
Following the delivery of 50-metre Tankoa Yachts Olokun to her new owner at the end of last year, the shipyard has released the first running images of the full-aluminium yacht. Photographed on route to the Côte d’Azur where she will spend her first season, the images highlight the yacht’s dramatic black hull and metallic grey superstructure.
“For me it was a great pleasure to participate in the completion and delivery of Olokun while respecting the established deadlines, despite the serious pandemic that has hit the whole world,” says Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Tankoa Yachts .
Tankoa Yachts Olokun began life as an on-spec project that was sold and project managed by Camper & Nicholsons. With exterior and interior design by Francesco Paszkowski and decors by Casadio Miami , the interior layout is similar to her 50-metre predecessors, Bintador and Vertige .
Two more 50-metre projects are currently in build at the Tankoa Yachts facility in Genoa and the company is continuing with due diligence procedures with a view to acquiring the Cantieri di Pisa brand and shipyard.

A look at the most expensive superyachts at the Palm Beach yacht show and their insane features, from basketball courts on deck to ice baths and saunas
- The Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off later this week.
- Eight megayachts are expected to be on display for would-be buyers and charter customers.
- These are the show's biggest yachts — and how many millions of dollars they are going for.
The Palm Beach International Boat Show — the yacht world's flashiest event stateside — is returning this year with over 800 boats for both deep-pocked potential owners and window shoppers to peruse.
While it's impossible to know what exactly will be on display until the show begins on Thursday, it's expected that eight megayachts — generally defined as ships over 60 meters long — will be docked at the show and at nearby marinas like the Rybovich Marina in the ritzy Florida town.
Some of these are for sale at eye-popping prices, but others are available to if in case you fancy living like a billionaire for a week or two this summer (and if you have six figures to spare on a vacation).
These are the eight biggest yachts that will be at the Palm Beach International Boat Show and nearby marinas, in size order.
Nero: 90.1 meters
Price: From $497,000 a week (charter)
Standout features: Pizza ovens, beauty salon, massage room, resistance pool
Reportedly owned by Irish billionaire Denis O'Brien, Nero is modeled after J.P. Morgan's 1930s ship , and was built in 2007 and updated in 2021.
She now boasts a gym on her sundeck with multiple cardio machines and a beauty salon, and has an on-board beautician for manicure, pedicure, hair, and massage needs. There's also an upgraded movie theater, two new pizza ovens, and both a pool and a jacuzzi.
For those who want to go overboard, she has more than a dozen toys, including a waterslide, Jet Ski, and flyboard.
Victorious: 85 meters
Price: From $876,600 a week in the summer and $950,000 a week in the winter
Standout features: Hammam (Turkish bath), wine cellar, wood-burning fireplace, children's playroom
Victorious brings a party vibe to the yacht show. With a beach club on board, a wine cellar, a cigar clubroom , multiple bars, and a lounge with a piano, the vessel is made for entertaining. Plus, there's a playroom and movie theater to entertain the kids.
For tamer charter clients, Victorious has a suite of wellness features such as a gym, massage room, beauty salon and hammam, or Turkish bath — perhaps a custom request of her owner, Turkish businessman Vural Ak.
She also boasts a treasure trove of water toys, including Jet Skis, jetsurfs, inflatable kayaks, and scuba equipment.
Casino Royale: 72 meters
Special Features: Infinity pool, helipad, private jacuzzi
Purchased and refitted by car dealer magnate John Staluppi last year, Casino Royale is the latest of his James Bond-inspired yachts (he's also owned an Octopussy and a Skyfall, among others).
Casino Royale has a helipad that turns into a dancefloor, an infinity pool, and a wellness center with a gym and sauna. The owner's cabin has its own deck, which features a private bar and jacuzzi.
However, the boat's price isn't listed, and while she's not necessarily officially for sale, that might change depending on who's prepared to buy, Mr. Bond.
Talisman C: 70.6 meters
Price: $60 million (or from $567,000 a week to charter)
Special features: Massage and beauty room, private library
Likely the largest yacht for sale (not just charter) at the show, the Talisman C is a 2011 six-bedroom boat. The owner's cabin comes with an en suite bathroom, dressing room, private library, and crystal chandeliers.
Amenities include a gym, a beauty room, oversized jacuzzi, and a fully equipped bar. Her crew of 19 includes a trained masseuse, and the toy room comes equipped with a wakeboard, eFoil , and WaveRunners.
Joy: 70 meters
Price: From $650,000 a week
Special features: Disco club, basketball court, onboard fitness instructor
Superyacht Joy testifies to the fact that owners want as many on-board experiences as they can get.
There's an expansive suite of fitness features, including a basketball court (don't shoot that hoop too hard!), a personal trainer on staff, boxing equipment, and a handful of machines. For post-workout winddowns, there's a spa with a steam room and onboard masseuse. And for entertainment, there's both an outdoor and indoor cinema, and a disco club.
Triumph: 65.4 meters
Price: From $707,600 a week in the summer and $650,000 a week in the winter
Special features: Sauna, helipad, banana boat
This 2021 superyacht is named after Triumph motorcycles — a reported favorite of her rumored owner, British businessman Chris Dawson — and even has one on display as an art piece in the upper deck's lounge. The primary suite is 1,400 square feet and has its own study , and there's a sauna, an indoor-outdoor gym, a helipad, and a massage room spread among her six decks.
She boasts an "armada of water toys," including two kinds of Jet Skis, electric water bikes, and a banana boat.
Seanna: 64.5 meters
Price: $54,000,000 (or from $462,000 a week to charter)
Special features: marble foyer, movie room, sundeck pool
The recently refurbished Seanna is available for sale and charter.
Her indoor-outdoor gym is on sea level so that passengers can take a dip after a session with the onboard personal trainer. There's also a sundeck pool, a helipad, a two-room massage facility, and, for the more cerebral guests, a library with an electric fireplace.
There are a number of toys on board, including a popular water trampoline and two WaveRunners.
Come Together: 60 meters
Price: $65,000,000
Special Features: DJ and videographer on board, ice bath, sauna
Next-to-new yacht Come Together is looking for a new owner after doing charters during the 2023 season.
The Beatles' influence is evident beyond the yacht's name, with guitars dotting the sky lounge and a crewmember who doubles as a DJ. There's also an outdoor cinema and bar for entertainment and an ice bath and sauna for the day after the party. The owner's suite has a private study and lounge, and each guest cabin has its own ensuite.
The sale includes a number of toys, like Jet Skis, kayaks, and Seabobs.

TANKOA S501 - 50-meter series
Beauty and charisma.
This dream yacht has two souls. Choose between traditional and hybrid propulsion systems. Two unique specifications. Both fuel efficient and near silent. Cruise in tranquility. The timeless design is sleek and ingenious. The horizon is a luxury that the S501 gifts again and again. Glass bulwarks and fold-out balconies maximise the many uninterrupted views of water and landscape. The generous relaxation areas are wide open spaces that invite you to spread out, to roam, to share. Or relish your privacy.
Handcrafted to the owner’s specifications, she is the most beautiful craft, a wonder of comfort and modern elegance, and just under 500 gross tons thanks to the aluminium hull.
Her superior engineering and hull design makes her the most efficient yacht on the market with lowest consumption you ever heard of.
The hybrid propulsion fuel efficient and quiet as a whisper.
In Diesel Electric Mode (DEM), two variable-speed generators feed the electric motors. With the main engines off, the S501 can achieve speeds up to 10.5 knots and fuel consumption of 12 litres per nautical mile. DEM saves fuel and limits noise.
In Hybrid mode, one of the two main engine shafts generates the electrical power to run the second motor for propulsion and hotel needs. At 12 knots the yacht has a cruising range of 4000 nautical miles. In this mode the two diesel generators are turned off during navigation and the running hours per engine and per generator are dramatically reduced.
In Booster Mode, both main engines and generators supply power to the two electric motors and feed the hotel loads. The yacht finds a top speed of 18 knots with no strain on the engines.
The Traditional Propulsion PACE, SPACE AND GRACE
The S501 is engineered for low consumption, long-range cruising and outstanding speed performance. The displacement hull features planing characteristics. With its optimised engine, this is a yacht that really moves.
The S501 sails at a maximum speed of 18 knots using both main diesel engines for propulsion and one diesel generator to feed the hotel loads.

Spectacular multi-million dollar yachts — check! Balmy, waterfront location — check! Family-friendly exhibitions and fun — check!
Then it must be the 42nd annual Palm Beach International Boat Show, which cruised into West Palm Beach this week. The city’s waterfront Downtown was transformed into a yachters’ haven, filled with ultra-luxurious yachts and cruisers and a seemingly endless range of yachting-inspired activities.
This year some 800 boats and yachts participated in the show, which is expected to lure over 55,000 total visitors along with 600 brands. In total, the four-day show is anticipated to pump over $1 billion into the economy of the Palm Beach area, which has seen both its population and popularity surge since the pandemic.
“Beyond its economic significance and standing in the industry, the Palm Beach International Boat Show holds a special place in the hearts of local residents, revered as one of the region’s must-attend events,” said Alyssa Freeman, executive director of the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County (MIAPBC).
The show supports a series of satellite events such as the Winward VIP Club, with an open bar, gourmet dining and special pop-up activations. The Super Yacht Show Palm Beach at Palm Harbor was where the show’s most glamorous — and truly gargantuan — superyachts are on display. At the AquaZone, which is presented by Nautical Ventures, guests can enjoy a “show within a show” via an interactive experience featuring a wide range of water sports and cutting-edge, marine-related products.
“The Palm Beach International Boat Show holds a special place in the hearts of local residents.”
As always, the Show delivers an exceptional array of culinary experiences, including world-class cocktails provided by sponsors such as Goslings Rum. The Show also includes a series of education seminars that appeal to visitors of all ages, including the Hook the Future’s Kids Fishing Clinics with Captain Don Dingman, who demonstrates various fishing techniques while showcasing a wide variety of fish species. Participants get a free Hook the Future x Carolina Skiff rod and reel combo.
But it’s really all about the boats. Here are five of the most unique, intriguing and eye-popping vessels on display.
The lucky charm
Few yachts at this year’s show are as jaw-dropping as Talisman C. Designed by London-based interiors aces H2 and manufactured by Turkish master yacht-builders Proteksan Turquoise, it’s currently listed for sale by British yachting firm Burgess for a cool $59.7 55 million. Spanning just over 231 feet long, it features six full-sized cabins that can sleep up to 14 guests, including a sprawling owner’s suite with its king-size bed and crystal chandelier, massive walk-in closet and grand library (which can easily be converted into an additional cabin).
Upstairs, the yacht’s sundeck features a large glass-encased Jacuzzi, sun beds and dining area under the sun or stars. A chic swim platform allows for easy access to the azure seas while the nearby aft deck area includes a fully equipped bar with club seating as well as a full-size dining area capped by a glass-threaded chandelier.
The vessel is powered by a pair of 2,447hp Caterpillar diesel engines, which provide a top speed of 18 knots, a cruising speed of 15 knots and a transatlantic range of 7,000 nautical miles.
The emperor
Reaching just under 300 feet in length, the Nero is, without doubt, one of the most eye-catching vessels at the entire Palm Beach show. Although completely contemporarily designed and manufactured, the Nero embodies the look and aesthetic of classic boats from yachting’s golden age during the 1930s. Fully overhauled in 2021, the Nero — which is currently on the market for just under $500,000 per week via Burgess — was designed in the spirit of Corsair, a yacht launched in the 1930s that belonged to legendary Wall Street financier J.P. Morgan.
Inside, it could not be more luxurious. On the top deck is a world-class gym fitted out with equipment by Technogym, while a few steps beyond is a beauty salon, which comes with an in-house beautician and masseuse.
There are six cabins with room for 12 guests — along with an on-board Jacuzzi, pool and waterslide. Throughout, veteran yacht designer Laura Pomponi has updated and upgraded the Nero’s look, introducing a range of new handmade carpets, along with hardwood floors, new sofas and elegant art-works. Pomponi has also lent her hand to Nero’s distinctive 30-foot Corsair custom-built tender that has been refitted so guests can arrive in impeccable style.
The secret agent
As its name suggests, the 236-foot Casino Royale brings a large dose of Bond-like elegance and intrigue to West Palm Beach. Constructed by Italian master shipbuilder Tankoa in 2018 and given a top-to-bottom retrofit in 2022, Casino Royale includes six cabins for 12 passengers and has been awarded a slew of industry accolades for its innovative and forward-thinking technology and aesthetic. Nearly two dozen crewmembers tend to those lucky voyagers, which luxuriate in an on-board circular swimming pool and access the ship via a helicopter port.
The yacht’s primary suite is nothing if not grand, featuring 180-degree views from its king-size bed along with its own study and al fresco terrace with private sunbed and Jacuzzi. There are five additional guest suites — all with their own private baths. Just beyond is an open-air living layout complete with a range of bespoke contemporary furnishings across the boat’s nearly half-dozen passenger decks.
Outside the amenities are just as abundant and include an onboard beach club with a lounge, bar, sauna, terrace and hammam/shower. All are ideal locations to rest and recharge after a workout in the yacht’s wellness center. On the main deck, there’s a nearly 20-foot-long infinity pool, while that helipad can easily convert into a dance floor.
The love boat
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Edmiston & Company (@edmistonyachts)
Completely futuristic and totally cool, the 180-foot-long Come Together is the ultimate example of stealth wealth on the high seas. Completed just two years ago by the Dutch firm Amels and currently on the market for a cool $65 million, Come Together features an unmistakable architecturally styled exterior reminiscent of a city-center skyscraper.
The boat can house up to 14 guests and 13 crew members within its unmissable steel hull and an aluminum-clad super structure — all cruising at a top speed of 15.5 knots.
The boat’s expansive master suite is set within its main deck and features sprawling storage space, a dressing room as well as his and hers bathrooms. There are an additional VIP cabin, two double cabins and two further cabins that can operate as twins or doubles. Up top, there’s a fully equipped gym and Jacuzzi — while a set of Jet Skis, water skis and hover-like Seabob watercraft keep the fun going just off deck. Come Together’s unique underwater lighting system also delivers a strong dose of excitement come nighttime and is the perfect way to enjoy an after-hours swim.
Want more? Then don’t forget about the on-board wakeboards, paddleboards and snorkeling equipment. And, when the moment strikes to head from the boat to land, travel could not be easier thanks to an easy-access 30-foot Limo Tender.
The cordial cruiser
The aptly named Hospitality ticks off the right boxes when it comes to superyacht bells and whistles. This twin-engine beauty can house up to 16 passengers along with 11 crew at a maximum cruising speed of 24 knots. Built back in 2011 by Westport Yachts here in the US, Hospitality — which is currently on the market for just under $30 million — underwent a comprehensive retrofit in 2021.
Along with all of the requisite yachting toys — Jet Skis, Seabobs and paddleboards — Hospitality includes a grand private owner’s suite with its own private relaxation balcony, seven cabins along with a relaxation room that can be used as a gym or spa and meticulously designed public spaces across is handful of decks. There’s also a handy tender for quick — or, not so quick — jaunts to the shore for dining and shopping.
Hospitality mostly cruises the Caribbean to New England, making the most of Northern Hemisphere winters.
