Over 200 Five-Star Reviews!

We had a group of 8 and the crew was fantastic! We did not experience anything but excellent service. The crew was very engaged and kept the trip fun, specific instructions were given regarding lunch and times of departure. Would definitely do again.

The crew was so friendly and welcoming, the food was outstanding, the drinks were even better and they didn’t stop serving! We had a child (7 years old) who had never been snorkeling and the crew did great having what he needed to learn. Will absolutely be back to enjoy! Keep up the amazing work!

Went with a big wedding crowd. My 7 and 2yr olds LOVED the trip!! It was awesome. The crew was excellent (im a sailor in MA). Professional, courteous to everyone, great service and funny as heck. It was a very nice trip my kids and us will never forget! Thank you guys! Will see you again this winter!

Extremely fun, absolutely beautiful catamaran trip with lively helpful crew! Lunch was perfect, music was as well, snorkeling was amazing and all equipment was above average. The island of Icacos is breathtaking.

Out of everything we did in PR this was by far my favorite. The guys are such great entertainers and servers as well! Our drinks were never empty and the food was so good. My boyfriend and I had so much fun snorkeling and the island they take you to is so beautiful!

My friends and I booked this Catamaran trip as part of our recent vacation in San Juan. The staff was professional and fun, and the trip went really smoothly. Would definitely book again!

Very enjoyable! Carlos, our guide, was excellent! He was so knowledgable, informative, nice, patient and loved sharing his culture. He was an excellent driver and very personable. He even stopped at a local place for lunch before leaving the forest that we didn't expect. What a treat!

This trip was amazing! The staff on the vessel are top notch, very caring and made you feel welcomed, safe and comfortable. Willy does a great job helping you learn how to snorkel. This is a must do if you visit Puerto Rico. Had so much fun!!

Frequently asked questions

Where are you located.

We are a convenient 5-10 minute drive from the major hotels in the San Juan, Condado and Isla Verde area in Puerto Rico. We are located in San Juan Bay Marina at Slip A72. If you are taking a cab, ask your driver to take you to San Juan Bay Marina and reference where the Sizzler Restaurant is at. Once at the Marina, walk through the boatyard towards the lower part of Sizzler Restaurant. Once at sea level, go past a Jetski rental kiosk towards the long dock with boats on either side. Our slip is on the left past the white gate that leads to the dock. Slip numbers are marked on the floor.

How do I book a sail?

You may book online here, or by clicking any of the “book now” buttons. We ask that you call, text, or email us for same-day bookings to ensure availability even if the calendar doesn’t show it. Online bookings are handled through a secure and encrypted provider accepting most major credit cards.

How should I dress?

For daysails we recommend cool, light clothing, hat, sunglasses and sunblock. While San Juan Bay has very calm waters and you will usually not get wet, there is always the possibility of some small splashes of water. Sunset sails have usually calmer breeze and cooler temperatures so you may dress more comfortably, however we do recommend light clothing. If you choose to go out into the ocean, the possibilities of getting wet are more likely as we will be sailing in bigger seas. No shoes allowed on-board.

At what time should I arrive for my sail?

We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes before your sail for a proper safety briefing and preparations. Sails depart sharp on time. Plan to be on time as in consideration to others that may be present we can not delay departure time. Failure to be on time for departure will result in forfeiting full fare or a $50 rebooking fee.

How many passengers are allowed on a boat?

We can accommodate 2-6 passengers for a personal, intimate experience. If you wish your sail to be private you may opt for the Private Charter or reserve the boat for your group. If you are sailing alone we ask that you contact us so we may schedule you with a current group.

Do I have to aid in handling the boat?

Your crew will take care of all the boat handling maneuvers so you may sit back and relax, but you are welcome to take part if you want a more hands-on experience.

Will I get seasick?

As we usually sail in very calm waters, the possibilities of getting seasick are almost zero. However, if you have gotten motion sickness at other times, we do recommend taking some remedies beforehand.

What drinks are included?

We offer complimentary soda, water, local beer, rum & coke and special rum punch for adults over 18 years of age. Sunset sails also include Spanish Cava or Prosecco.

Are there age restrictions to sail?

We welcome everyone to enjoy the wonderful experience of sailing! However, US Coast Guard requires children under 13 to wear a lifejacket at all times. There is also certain level of physical exertion that may take place to board and move around so we advise caution for the elderly and persons with mobility issues and serious medical conditions.

Can I bring my own music?

Of course! We encourage you to do so. Our speaker is bluetooth ready so you may connect your own device and use your personal playlist. We use Spotify and Pandora and may look up your favorite station.

Are the booking times shown here the only ones available for a sail?

While the times shown are our standard offerings we are always available for special requests. Give us a call or email us to make special arrangements

What If I have to cancel my reservations?

We have a 48 hour cancellation notice policy for full refund. 48 hours or less cancellations forfeit 50% fare. 24 hour cancellations forfeit full fare. No shows, late to departure time or same-day booking cancellations will forfeit 100% fare.

What happens if my sail is cancelled due to weather?

We want you to enjoy a great experience while sailing with us so we would reschedule your sail for another day when the weather is ideal. If this would not be possible due to your travel plans, we would offer a full refund. The decision to cancel due to weather rests solely on the Captain. Tropical weather can change quite rapidly so some decisions to cancel might be last minute, however we always take into consideration your time and alternate plans so we try to always cancel at least an hour in advance from our scheduled departure time.

Anything else I should know?

Just be ready for a great sailing experience! If you do have any additional questions, please feel free to call, text or email us and we will gladly clear up any doubts.

San Juan Catamaran Sunset Sail

  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Departure:  482 Av. Manuel Fernández Juncos, San Juan, 00901
  • Departure Time: 5:00 PM
  • Includes:  Professional captain and guide, beverages

Let’s start things off with the beautiful San Juan Catamaran Sunset Sail . This 2-hour sail is the perfect way to lead you from the warm day into a refreshing evening.

While sailing on just about any bay will make for a picturesque moment, the San Juan Bay and port have a rich history and various landmarks that make this tour particularly special. You’ll meet up with the rest of your group/guides at Slip A72 on the main dock at San Juan Bay Marina.

The crew makes this process seamless, so everyone can get acquainted, go through safety information, and focus on the incredible view and having fun! The captain and crew are so warm and friendly, and really make the entire experience pleasant from the beginning.

Start off at La Puerta de San Juan, or “San Juan Port”. This landmark is very important in the history of the country. Founded all the way back in the early 1500’s by Ponce de Leon, it has become a major seaport for the country in culture, manufacturing, tourism, and more.

Expand To See More See Less

While a lot has changed in so many hundreds of years, a lot has stayed the same, which makes it such a tourist hot spot.

You’ll then spend the rest of the tour sailing around the bay, catching up-close views of the castle “Castillo San Felipe del Morro”, and the fort, “La Fortaleza – Palacio de Santa Catalina” from the water.

The captain and crew are very experienced and will tell you all about these crucial pieces of history that will only make the adventure that much more interesting!

Meet up with the captain and crew to board the awesome 30-foot racing boat! This boat seats 6, which means it’s great for intimate groups, personalized attention, learning, and of course high speeds!

If you have a need for speed, then this is one of the best tours to take, but rest assured the captain will always make sure you’re okay with going that fast beforehand. With his clear competence, you can feel confident that you’re in good hands.

Of course, not everything is about getting the adrenaline pumping. You’ll sail very close to important landmarks such as the Castillo San Felipe del Morro, La Fortaleza – Palacio de Santa Catalina, and San Juan Bay.

El Castillo San Felipe del Morro has been around for hundreds of years, and currently is the governor’s mansion. “El Morro” is very impressive to look at, and was built on the orders of King Charles V of Spain. “La Fortaleza” has been around since 1846 and is the oldest executive mansion in continuous use in the New World.

San Juan Bay also has an interesting commercial history, with notoriously flat waters. While you learn, try to keep an eye out for dolphins playing around the boat while watching the sun set over the pristine Caribbean.

. As with the other tours, the captain and crew are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, ensuring everyone has a great time.

Take a seat on the relaxing boat ride while enjoying some snacks, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages. This makes for an excellent precursor to a full dinner on shore while also learning new things and enjoying some fresh air and breathtaking nature.

Partake in some grapes, cheese, chips, and other snacks and beverages. This tour will take you by all kinds of island highlights, such as the Paseo de La Princesa, La Fortaleza, the San Juan City Walls, El Morro, and more!

Go Beach Hopping Like a Puerto Rican

Puerto Rico Beaches - Best beaches to visit near San Juan

You’ll be tempted to enjoy the beaches of San Juan and remain close to the hotel.  The beaches in San Juan are nice, but they’re on the Atlantic Ocean side, get more crowds, and lack some enchanting traits you can find on beaches outside of the city.  This small island is packed with great beaches, and we can tell you that once you start beach hopping, you’ll become addicted and return for more.   To maximize your time while staying in San Juan, we have compiled a list of the best beaches to explore near San Juan.

Beach Tours from San Juan

Suggested itinerary from san juan.

Beaches are listed from nearest to farthest from San Juan. Driving times with regular traffic

East of San Juan

  • La Posita de Piñones –  Loiza, Puerto Rico – 20 minutes drive
  • Luquillo Beach – Luquillo, Puerto Rico – 40 minutes drive
  • Beach at Icacos Cay – Fajardo, Puerto Rico – 1 hour drive

West of San Juan

All the following beaches have one thing in common, they are natural pools on the north coast.  Coral walls create a shield from the open rough waters of the Atlantic, creating a natural pool.

  • Mar Chiquita – Manati, Puerto Rico – 40 minutes drive
  • La Poza de Las Mujeres – Manati, Puerto Rico – Best during summer, not safe to swim in winter. – 45 minutes drive
  • La Poza del Obispo – Arecibo, Puerto Rico – 1-hour drive – Please do not climb the wall behind the beach.
  • Playa Sardinera – Hatillo, Puerto Rico – 1 hour drive

During inclement weather, these calm water pools become like whirlpools, making it hard for children and adults to swim.  Please do  NOT climb on the coral walls , they can be slippery, the stone has sharp edges and a big wave could surprise you, causing a fall that could lead to falling in open water and loss of life.  Please enjoy these beautiful beaches safely.

For a great day trip on the west coast of Puerto Rico, leave early and visit the following beaches on the northwest coast, in the towns of Isabela and Aguadilla.

  • Pozo Teodoro in Isabela, Puerto Rico – 1.5 hour
  • Jobos Beach in Isabela, Puerto Rico – Lunch at Jobos, there are plenty of seaside bars and restaurants.  It’s a fun beach with a laid-back Puerto Rican beach vibe, lounge rentals available, and surfing lessons. – 1.5 hour drive
  • Crash Boat Beach in Aguadilla – Spend the rest of the day at Crash Boat Beach for swimming, snorkeling (when the water is calm), sunset, and dinner. – 1 hour and 45 minutes drive

Tips for a Fun, Budget Friendly and Stress Free Beach Hopping Experience

Perhaps you like to plan things well; we encourage you to let that go and go beach hopping the Puerto Rican way, nice and relaxed.

Here are our tips for a splendid experience on the coastline:

  • Rent a car for a day to enjoy beach hopping at your own pace.
  • Pack light , you only need a beach towel, sun block, swimsuit, regular clothes to wear over your swimwear when dining.  If you need anything, you can find almost everything at a Walgreens Pharmacy or local grocery store.
  • Stop by a bakery , load up on water, Puerto Rican treats, and sandwiches, and enjoy the island life.
  • Let your hair down , play your favorite tunes, and listen to them a bit louder than you’re used to.  It’s ok.  That’s the Puerto Rican way.
  • When you get hungry , you’ll find plenty of beachside spots, roadside food trucks, and chinchorros (tiny simple food places) serving inexpensive but delicious traditional fritters.

Driving in Puerto Rico

Driving in Puerto Rico is easy, traffic is congested coming out of San Juan, but once you’re out of the city, you’ll be on your way to a nice adventure on the road.

Best Time to Go Beach Hopping

Weekdays are more mellow since locals are at work, so if you like to be away from crowds, weekdays from Tuesdays to Fridays are the best days to go beach hopping around the island.  However, if you love a lively local vibe, you’ll have a lot of fun joining locals at the beach, they certainly know how to make it more lively with music, laughter and fun water sport rentals more available at local beaches for the whole family to enjoy.  Many beachfront restaurants offer live entertainment during weekends.

Wander to the Wildly Beautiful West

Best places to visit in Puerto Rico near San Juan - West Coast

Ask any local where they love to go for summer vacation within the island and the majority will say, the west coast of Puerto Rico .  When speaking about the main island of Puerto Rico not including Culebra and Vieques, the west coast has the best beaches , the most variety of local eateries, the best sunsets, the best surfing beaches, and the most friendly and lively municipalities.  You can spend weeks exploring the West Coast, to make your vacation planning easier, we have created a few itineraries packed with fun things to do and beautiful places to see in one day.  It will be a long but great day, so leave as early as possible from San Juan to beat the heavy traffic.

You can end your day with a visit to the bioluminescent bay in La Parguera before you head back to San Juan on Route 52, our preferred road to get to San Juan with the least traffic lights and congestion.

Excursions you May Enjoy from San Juan - No Car Rental Required

Itinerary 1.

From San Juan, take Rt. 18 to Highway 52 from San Juan towards Caguas, pass Ponce and continue to the town of Guanica, your first stop.

  • Lunch – The best and closest place to get lunch after Gilligan’s Island is Copamarina Beach Resort . If you wish to drive and eat at a local place, we recommend Taty’s Pinchos , a food truck that serves traditional fritters, and it is perfect for a quick lunch.  The average cost per person is $5.00, a little more for chicken pinchos (chicken on a skewer).  If you have room stop for frappes at La Frutera on the way to Cabo Rojo, not far from Taty’s Pinchos.
  • Head to Las Salinas in Cabo Rojo   – see location
  • Hike to Faro Los Morrillos   – see location

Catamaran Cruise San Juan Puerto Rico

Don't miss, what is the smallest cruise ship, how to find last minute cruise deals, what is the safest cruise line, how long are cruise trips, what cruise lines sail out of long beach ca, what cruise lines go to hawaii from california, can you add cruise insurance after booking, experience the beauty of fajardo on a day sail.

SPREAD EAGLE II departs for a palm-fringed tropical island at 9 a.m. from J Dock at Villa Marina in Fajardo, a 30-mile drive east from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Then, its about a one-hour catamaran sail to an offshore island and the reef.

Theres something for everyone on our day sail adventure. Kids from two months old to 90 years old have enjoyed the trip as much as weve enjoyed having them.

Once at the island, we lower a stairway into knee-deep water so you can get your gear to the beach safe and dry. Then you can swim, beach comb, splash in gin-clear water or stare back at the brilliantly colored tropical fish as you snorkel the reef, or just laze on the white sand beach or on board under the cockpit shade awning, the choice is yours.

The reefs are teeming with parrotfish, foureye butterflyfish, sergeant majors, and wrasse. The variety is too long to list, so you should just come to see them all for yourself.

Ask one of the crew to see the fish, coral, and shell identifying charts on board. SPREAD EAGLE II even provides lunch for the fish. With a little patience, you can get the fish to eat bread right out of your hand.

The Day Trip Fee Includes:

  • Free brand new snorkel take it with you at the end of the trip.
  • Use of all other snorkeling equipment.

Puerto Rico Sailing Trips

“Great value! Beautiful day on the ocean with 2 stops – the first one more beach-oriented and a chance to practice snorkeling, the second at Tortuga Reef for in-depth snorkeling. The crew were wonderful and the lunch provided exceeded expectations – all fresh, and freshly-prepared sandwich fixings and salads. Even fresh fruit & veg. The free unlimited drinks are not very strong, but for $2, they’ll add a shot of rum. Fins, masks and snorkels are provided, which simplifies logistics. We had a great time.”

“We had a perfect day for snorkeling and a crew made the entire trip fun and exciting. Great lunch spread and delicious drink selection. Perfect trip for families of all ages. We would recommend the Spread Eagle II for anyone snorkeling out of Fajardo”

“At first I thought there were too many people on the boat but it worked out fine. We had a nice day. The small island where we first stopped had several other boats there. It would have been nice to have landed at a more private place. Same for the spot where we snorkeled. The water was beautiful. We saw some fish, Be sure to wear sun screen!”

“We had a fun day with the friendly and professional crew. Even though the snorkeling visibility was not great, the sailing was fun, the day was beautiful and the whole family enjoyed it. This is definitely a great idea for an outing with anyone from kids to grandparents. People who don’t want to snorkel can beachcomb, swim, or just enjoy piña coladas on the catamaran. :)”
