Stupendous, Expert, Artisan, Honest and Friendly are the adjectives that I would use to describe Aaron and his staff at Octopus Yacht. It is easy to compare prices and widgets in today online world. But what is really important is customer service after the sale and installation. Boats like homes are becoming more and more complex. And with this complexity can come frustration. The last thing that you want at 1am when you are leaving to head 100 miles away from land is a bird nest of unidentified wires or do it yourself precision for you navigational equipment. Aaron attacks his installations with the mind of an engineer. The details are important, and installation is planned out, wires and fuses are labeled and placed logically. His staff is attentive, courteous and has always treat our boats with respect. It is great that Aaron boats in the area that he services, he is a growing business that want to do right by his customers. In a very challenging somewhat seasonal business I have often talked to Aaron in off business hours on a Friday night when he was trying to save some families weekend. In this hobby getting weather and schedules to align is always a challenge. We enjoy doing business with a person that invests in his staff and his community. And at the same time understands how important a weekend on the boat is to a family!
Extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of marine electronics and custom fabrication. Prices match the level of professionalism. They will go above and beyond to make sure that not only you receive the highest quality installation but you understand how to operate and navigate all your systems.
Absolutely horrible!!!! Asked them to fix my depth finder. They couldn't fix it and charged me $1000, told me my radar had a recall and they could take care of that for free. Constantly asking for authorization for payment before work was done. Ended up taking boat somewhere else and they fixed depth finder easily. Got boat back and radar doesn't work. Called them and the blamed it on the people who fixed the depth finder!!!!! Unreal! $1000, couldn't fix my problem and made something that was working perfectly, not work!!!!!!! I would never use them again or recommend them to anyone!!!

But when we finally got going we removed all of the Ray Marine electronics that were in my boat (38 foot Sea Ray Sundancer) and installed all new up to date Garmin. Their advice was right on the money. All the new electronics is very user friendly and does exactly what they said it would do. Was it a little bit pricey, yes, but when it was all said and done I got what I paid for. Once it was installed the training was s econd to none also. - Don H. June 3, 2022, 12:11 am I had Octopus install a full Garmin suite of electronics and a complete Fusion sound system install on my boat. This included removal of the old systems, and fabrication for the new systems. The functionality of the systems is flawless, which I expected, but all the work that was done looks as if it was done the manufacture of the boat at the factory. Just perfect. - F M. October 21, 2020, 5:48 am Octopus Yachts was recommended by the dealer who sold me my new boat. Grady White boats don't come with electronics, so you're on your own. Octopus is a small shop (which is a plus). Very professional. They recommended a chart plotter, VHF radio and transducer that fit my needs and my budget. They were very upfront about their pricing and the labor estimate. They are craftsman. The devices are perfectly placed. The holes were cut clean. The wires behind the helm were neat and tight. No t a speck of dust on the boat. I was initially surprised at the amount of time listed on the estimate, but after seeing the quality of the work, I understand. It was well worth it. Let's face it… everything on a boat is expensive. There's no bargain hunting. Drilling a hole in your hull for a transducer, cutting a perfect rectangle in your helm, running wires invisibly, and interconnecting systems are not DIY jobs. This past year, (2019) I had to replace all of my E-series Raymarine electronics on my Grady White Marlin 30. When I first contacted Aaron and Tim at Octopus, they were exceptionally responsive and prompt. They helped me select the best electronics package that matched how we use our boat and were very easy to work with. We ultimately installed two Raymarine Axiom Pro units (12 and 9 inch), Autopilot, Radar, transducers, antenna, accessories, etc. The installation was done on time, within budget, very clean, calibrated, and they did everything they had committed to do. The expertise of their technicians and the quality of their workmanship was exceptional. Their pricing is very competitive, customer service has been extraordinary and they have always been prompt to answer any follow up questions I had. I highly recommend Octopus Yachts Marine Electrical Systems for any electronic installation or electrical work on your boat. N.J. company offers to make intubation boxes for hospitals but seeks assistance

Over the course of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been plenty of reports about the availability, or lack thereof, of personal protection equipment such as masks, gloves, gowns and ventilators, but not as much about intubation boxes .
Perhaps because the intubation boxes is a recent invention.
The device, whose creation is being credited to Dr. Hsien Yung Lai, an anesthesiologist with Mennonite Christian Hospital in Hualien, Taiwan, is a transparent cube designed for use in endotracheal intubation. It serves as a shield between patient and provider, with holes for the provider’s hands and equipment.
This shield reduces the provider’s potential exposure to bodily fluids, which is especially important during intubation, when a tube is inserted into the throat of a person who can no longer breathe on their own.
Octopus Yachts , based in Wall, decided to help in this effort and is currently seeking hospitals in the state or abroad that can use the box. However, the company needs material or financial donations to meet the production costs, which would allow the boxes to be provided free of charge.
Octopus Yachts was founded in 2008 by owner Aaron Held and his wife, Christina, and specializes in boat and yacht electronics (GPS, Chartplotters, Radar, Sonar, security and communications) and the vessels’ electrical systems. They are dealers for several brands, handle installations both at their shop and on site, and do training on how to use the equipment.
They have a machine for custom fabrication in acrylic and other plastics and saw a need in this worldwide crisis.
“It is so hard during this time to feel like you’re doing enough,” said Held, who currently employs a staff of eight. “Christina and I were inspired by two friends and their companies: Gerry Libertelli of Build PL8 Manufacturing in Trenton and Virginia Johnson of Gather Here Stitch Lounge in Cambridge, Mass. Both are using their companies’ skills to manufacture face masks: Gerry with 3D printing, and Virginia sewing masks from cloth.”
Held said Libertelli connected him with Emma McKim, a nurse at University Hospital in Newark.
”She sent me the link to intubationbox.com and suddenly we had a place to start," Held said. “After much discussion with our hospital contacts, we chose a plastic that we are familiar with from our own fabrication and that can be sterilized with materials the hospitals have on hand.”
Octopus has begun making them at a manufacturing cost of about $150 per unit. It donated one to University Hospital and has built two for Saint Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick.
The company has reached out to other medical facilities.
“I have friends who are nurses who see immense potential in the shields, but they can’t just bring it into the emergency room," Held said. “We’ve been told they have to be approved by the right people, and getting in touch with those who can make decisions has been tough since they are on the front lines.”
Held hopes his company can find the right combination of material and financial donations to help it avoid charging interested hospitals.
“We are desperately trying to avoid charging hospitals even at their cost,” he said, “but if we want to keep paying the rent on the shop that houses this machine and paying our staff to build them, we’re going to need help. Please reach out if you can donate to the cause. Every penny donated will go toward materials, so that we don’t have to charge hospitals for these life-saving devices.
