The refit on the Bering 80 motor yacht VEDA, now called BEYOND CAPRICORN has been completed and the vessel is once again ready to cruise the world’s oceans. BEYOND CAPRICORN was launched in 2016 by Bering’s Chinese facility and has been recently purchased by an Australian owner with extensive yachting experience, including expedition tours to Antarctica .

BEYOND CAPRICORN is a very capable explorer yacht with a fantastic 4,000 nautical mile-range and thanks to her 24’9’’ beam, she has large living spaces both above and below decks.

The 2018 refit included repainting of the blue hull into white, installation of passerelle, update on the water treatment system as well as some modifications to the upper deck design.

The construction of Beyond Capricorn was completed in 2007. She is classed as an exploration style super yacht, built to Australian Maritime Standards with motion control stabilizers. 24m long, 8.4m wide 130 gross tons. Normal cruising speed is 8 to 9 knots. It holds around 14000 liters of fuel, 3000 liters of fresh water & is able to stay at sea for weeks on end.

There are 4 decks including a sun deck & 4 seperate dining areas throughout. All the usual home comforts like fresh water toilets, individual room temperature controlled air conditioning and every stateroom has their own bathroom. Beyond Capricorn has cruised the waters of Alaska, America East & West Coats, Caribbean, Mediterranean & is currently in the South Pacific.

Whats to see in Tahiti

Tranquil blue and turquoise lagoons surrounding beautiful mountainous islands, stunning beaches, lush jungle forests and underwater gardens with coral fish, reef and lemon sharks, sting rays, turtles, dolphins and coral. Sacred temples, local villages, pineapple, banana and vanilla plantations, pearl farms, stunning valleys and lookouts, scenic country side, Polynesian flora & fauna, palm trees, motu’s (small islands) Polynesian dancing, tattooing, culture and food. 5 Star resorts, yachts, local fishing fleets, sunshine and much more.

When do you want to travel?

Peak season is generally in the Americas & European summer holiday months of July and August, also around Australian and New Zealand holidays including Easter and Christmas, when airfares are generally also higher. If you prefer outside these times, you will most likely find better availability. Cruising Weather & Sea Conditions? 90% of the time we are very clam lagoons protected by fringe reefs where you may not even realize you are aboard a yacht. Feb to March: Traditionally rainy period with weak winds from the north, northwest at times, otherwise mainly blowing from the east. Recent seasons haven’t been consistent having only infrequent showers.

April to November: Best period of the year, dry with moderate trade winds blowing from the east at 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 25 knots. The temperature is around 30 degrees and the sea water is consistently above 25 degrees. The itinerary order may be altered according to weather patterns to ensure the most comfortable sailing conditions possible.

When is Whale Watching Season? Whale watching season in French Polynesia is from July to October when humpbacks can be seen near the coasts. This should be enjoyed as an optional tour from the islands of Tahiti or Moorea as Beyond Capricorns cruising itinerary is unlikely to encounter any whales.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

It's Mark Zuckerberg's turn to have a hot yacht summer

• Mark Zuckerberg's new yacht, Launchpad, is enjoying its summer debut.
• The megayacht recently stopped in Mallorca and has since ventured further into the Mediterranean.
• It looks like Zuckerberg may dethrone Jeff Bezos as king of this year's superyacht season .

Move over, Jeff Bezos . Mark Zuckerberg is looking like this summer's Poseiden.

While the Amazon founder made waves last year with the debut of his megayacht Koru, Zuckerberg is the name on the yacht world's lips this season.

Rumors began surfacing in March that the Meta CEO had purchased Launchpad — a Dutch-built, 118-meter motor yacht originally built for a Russian oligarch.

By May, the transaction seemed all but confirmed when both the yacht and Zuckerberg made their way to Panama to celebrate his 40th birthday with a fete that included a few spins on his infamous hydrofoil .

Now that summer is here, Zuckerberg has debuted Launchpad — and her support superyacht Wingman — on the biggest stage in the yachting world: the Mediterranean.

Zuckerberg this month treated his family to a trip aboard Launchpad off the coast of Mallorca. The family, sporting matching t-shirts, celebrated Father's Day and Zuckerberg's dad's 70th birthday, he wrote in a caption posted to Instagram. Local news outlets spotted Zuckerberg, his wife Priscilla Chan, and their three daughters on the Spanish island and aboard the yacht, which was outfitted with water slides and other toys.

From there, the yacht sailed to the Ligurian Sea, the spit of the Mediterranean between the Italian Riviera and Corsica.

It's likely the yacht will continue to crisscross the Mediterranean this summer. If Zuckerberg continues to post photos of his travels, we may glean more details about how he has customized the ship to his liking.

For now little is known beyond the fact that she is built by Feadship, the shipyard behind Larry Ellison's Musashi . Photos from SuperYacht Times show Launchpad features a large swimming pool and helipad. The final purchase price is not public, but a new yacht of that size would likely cost nine figures upfront and millions of dollars a year to maintain.

Perhaps, like Bezos did last year, Zuckerberg will entertain some of the most famous names in entertainment or business. ( Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, had an engagement party last year aboard Koru that counted Bill Gates and Leonardo DiCaprio as guests. On Friday, Bezos and Sanchez were spotted riding wave runners in the Aegean Sea alongside Kim Kardashian near the 127-meter yacht). Alternatively, Zuckerberg might prefer the privacy that is paramount to many in the superyacht world.

Whether Zuckerberg shows up as a bon vivant or doting family man this summer, Launchpad fits well into one of the most successful CEO rebrands in recent years, in which Zuckerberg went from being perceived as a robotic, mistrusted tech nerd to a kind-of-relatable, fun, fit tech bro.

Now he's got one of the largest yachts in the world to add to his cool factor (even though, regrettably for Zuckerberg, it is a mortifying nine meters shorter than Koru).
