Denison invites you to an Open House aboard SEAHAWK , a 112 Westport Superyacht located at the Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard in Newport, Rhode Island.

SEAHAWK was built to the highest standards; her captain’s keen eye for detail with a long reign for maintenance keeps her in a manner fitting a superyacht. She boasts a timeless, rich raised mahogany interior throughout; a feature Westport usually saves for their 40M+ yachts.

SEAHAWK runs at a fast 22 knot cruise with a top speed of 25 knots. A draft of only 5’6”, she gets into ports where vessels of this size frequently cannot access. Her stabilized ride takes you in luxury and comfort.

Room for eight guests in her four ensuite staterooms, the full beam master is massive with a California king bed as the centerpiece. Two more staterooms amidship for guests with a private VIP stateroom all the way forward. Four separate deck areas to enjoy under cover or out in the sun. From her aft deck to foredeck, with the flybridge and boat decks, there’s plenty of places to enjoy the water views.

• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

John brings an impressive maritime background spanning over 32 years, with a remarkable 23 years spent navigating high-speed vessels. His expertise goes beyond yacht sales, encompassing consultancy, instruction, and yacht management services for both private and commercial vessel owners.

Before embarking on his current journey, John made significant contributions as a consultant for the Department of Defense. He played a pivotal role in training US Naval Officers on the intricate operations of Littoral Combat Ships, specifically the Freedom and Independence classes. During the years 2001 to 2007, John captained the M/V Athena and several other High-Speed Ferries, leaving an indelible mark as an exceptional instructor who effortlessly connected with students, tailoring his guidance to their specific vessels and topics of interest.

John boasts extensive hands-on involvement aboard various US Navy vessels, container ships, and research vessels. Newport County High School Roundup: Highlights from Monday and the weekend

Portsmouth 2, Moses Brown 1

The Patriots scored a run in the first inning, and another in the seventh, and that was enough to give them their 10th win in 18 games. Oliver Rey went the distance, pitching a 2-hitter with 11 strikeouts. The only run he allowed was unearned. He also helped his own cause, collecting 3 hits, driving in a run and stealing a base. John Mass singled in the other run. Tucker DeWolf and Bryden Menard had the hits for the 8-11 Quakers.

Rogers 13, Davies 0 (Sat.)

Matt Lynch struck out 5 while tossing a 2-hitter over 5 innings and Ben Borgueta drove in 3 runs on a pair of hits as the Vikings (13-4) cruised to victory in the mercy-rule shortened game on Saturday. Myles Robinson and Ben Cofsky had the hits for the Patriots (3-13)

East Greenwich 7, Middletown 1 (Sat.)

Anders Nelson pitched and hit the Avengers to their 10th victory of the season on Saturday. Nelson threw 5 innings of shutout ball, giving up just 2 hits and striking out six. Offensively, Nelson drove in 2 with 2 hits. Alex DeTomasis (2 hits, 2 walks) and Cade Thomas (4 walks) each reached base four times for EG. That duo also combined for a huge inning-ending double play with the bases loaded in the 6th when Thomas followed a catch in center field with a bullet to DeTomasis at the plate to throw out an Islander trying to tag up. Evan Levasseur had 2 hits for Middletown.

Cranston East 12, Rogers 2

The Thunderbolts plated five runs in the second inning to take command and reach the 13-0 mark in the standings.  Nevaeh   Fatorma  led Cranston East with 2 RBI and  Kiara McGarty  had 3 walks and swiped 2 bases. Reliver  Lexi   Montalban  earned the win for the 'Bolts, allowing 1 hit and no runs over 4 innings, while striking out 4. For the Vikings,  Lillian   Reilly  and  Tess   Margolis  each collected a hit in the loss.

Led by the play of Cam Danckak (4 goals, 4 assists) and Andrew Corsi (4 goals, 2 assists), the Quakers rolled to victory over the Patriots. Also adding to the MB offense were Recce Chase and Peter Sarnowski who had 2 goals and 1 assist each. Robert Mairs had 2 goals and 1 assist and Will Howard had one tally and 2 helpers for Portsmouth in the loss.

A link between strokes and your spouse? URI study takes a look at health and romance

A uri study is taking a closer look at couples, how they manage stress and influence each other's healthy or unhealthy habits..

The person who sleeps beside you could have a greater impact on your health than your doctor.

So, what effect does your behavior have on the health of your partner, and vice versa?

A new study at the University of Rhode Island is trying to answer those and other questions in an effort to improve public health programs and reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes and other stress-related illnesses.   

Jessica Cless, an assistant professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science, will lead the study into the effects partners have on one another's health. Cless said, “Factors such as stress, coping strategies, and a person’s experiences in romantic relationships have been shown to affect positive health behaviors such as maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine."

“To understand the more nuanced effects that stress and relationship factors have on positive health behaviors, we will collect data from adult romantic partners to understand how stress and relational experiences in romantic relationships can predict positive health behaviors,” she said.

How many couples will take part in the study? 

Cless is recruiting 100 couples for interviews. The Rhode Island Foundation is supporting the study by providing a $24,766 grant. Part of that money will be used to provide gift cards, totaling $100 per couple.

The grant was among 15, totaling more than $360,000 the foundation awarded in seed funding to promising medical research projects, the foundation announced last week. A panel of scientists and physicians helped the foundation evaluate the proposals. The funding came through 22 foundation endowments that help medical researchers win permanent funding from national sources. 

David N. Cicilline, the foundation’s president and CEO , called the grants a "crucial source of early funding that enables researchers to pursue promising medical advances."

“Our hope is that their successes will lead to substantial new investments in the state’s research sector that will grow our economy and improve the health of Rhode Islanders," Cicilline said.

A lot of studies have focused on individuals and how they approach habits such as regular exercise and healthy eating, according to Cless, but this study will focus on couples and the way they influence their partners' health.

Health issues are family issues

"If you have an issue with your heart, it really is a family issue, it really is a couples issue," Cless said. "Our hope is we can make a strong argument that we can stop saying it's an individual issue. It really should be targeted at the family level."

Here's some of what the study will consider:

• Stress plays a big role in a person's risk for heart attack and stroke, but how do couples manage stress?
• What happens to a person's stress levels if they don't feel they have the support of their partner?
• Do partners encourage or hinder efforts at exercise and healthy eating?

"Establishing positive health behaviors such as keeping a healthy diet and exercise routine are crucial for individuals to achieve a healthy well-being," Cless noted.

What is the cost to public health?

Diet and exercise also have a "large impact on public health," she wrote, noting a 2019 study reporting that poor diet costs the United States $50.4 billion in a single year. Physical inactivity is associated with $117 billion in annual health care costs and leads to 1 in 10 premature deaths, she said, citing the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

By collecting the data, the study "can examine how a person’s experience not only impacts their own behaviors butthe behaviors of those with whom they have close relationships," Cless wrote in the grant application.

The results she wrote, "may provide preliminary practical recommendations for both mental and public health professionals as communities seek to develop prevention programming to reduce the risk for" heart attacks, strokes and other stress-related conditions.
