Following refit and refurbishment in 2017/2018 her Alain Raynaud designed interiors are fresher than ever. Her 12 guests can take breakfast al fresco on the upper deck aft with a smoothie from the fully equipped bar then relax in the sun deck jacuzzi and lounge on the sun pads before blazing around on the watertoys.

Freshen up after a gym workout then meet for drinks in the upper deck bar. Share stories from the day in the forward-facing observation lounge before enjoying supper in the formal dining room. After dinner take coffee in the library, home to one of the yacht's two cosy fireplaces.

Having a twin cabin as part of the main deck master suite makes her perfect for guests with young children and two double cabins and two twin cabins on the lower deck seal the deal: VIRGINIAN is the yacht of choice for families and friends.

A General Description of Motor Yacht VIRGINIAN

VIRGINIAN was previously registered as project/yacht name 765. This 62 metre (204 foot) luxury yacht was manufactured by The Feadship Royal Van Lent Shipyard in 1991. Motor Yacht VIRGINIAN is a notable superyacht. The other bonus of this well featured motor yacht is her helicopter landing facility. The naval architect whom authored this yacht's design details for this ship is De Voogt Naval Architects. The original interior design work is the brain child of David Easton. Luxury yacht VIRGINIAN is a good looking yacht that can accommodate up to 12 passengers on board and has approximately 20 qualified crew.

Build & Naval Architecture with respect to Luxury Yacht VIRGINIAN

De Voogt Naval Architects was the naval architecture company involved in the technical nautical plans for VIRGINIAN. Also the company De Voogt Naval Architects skillfully collaborated on this project. Interior designer David Easton was charged with the internal internal ambience. In 1991 she was formally launched with accolade in Kaag and post sea trials and detailing was thereafter delivered to the new owner. The Feadship Royal Van Lent Shipyard completed their new build motor yacht in the Netherlands. A spacious proportion is brought about with a maximum beam (width) of 10.21 metres or 33.5 feet. With a 3.29m (10.8ft) draught (maximum depth) she is deep. The material steel was used in the building of the hull of the motor yacht. Her superstructure over the hull is built with the use of aluminium. In 1999 further refitting and updating was in addition finished.

Engines & Speed On M/Y VIRGINIAN:

The 12V 20/27 engine installed in the motor yacht is made by MAN. For propulsion VIRGINIAN has twin screw propellers. The engine of the ship produces 1630 horse power (or 1199 kilowatts). She is equiped with 2 engines. The sum output for the yacht is accordingly 3260 HP / 2399 KW. As for stabalisers she was built with Vosper. The bow thrusters are Hrp.

Bestowing quarters for a limit of 12 welcome guests staying on board, the VIRGINIAN accommodates everyone in style. This ship utilises circa 20 proficient crewmembers to manage.

Described as a beautifully archetypal classic yacht by her builders at Feadship, this 62.23 metre (204’2”) superyacht is a vessel of true sophistication with an interior which resembles the great ships of the early 1900s. Virginian, a name befitting of the elegance behind the vessel, includes a library and an open fireplace.

This yacht may represent the finer lifestyle elements of the old world, but her construction in 1990 was ground-breaking in itself as Virginian is the first yacht to have four full decks. With a beam of 10.20 and draught of 3.30 metres, Virginian can accommodate 12 guests in 6 staterooms, featuring a David Easton interior design throughout.

Her modern facilities were cutting-edge at the time of her launch, as Virginian is also the first yacht to be equipped with hydraulic transom hatch and tenders concealed on the aft deck. She also offers a gymnasium, Jacuzzi, al fresco dining on the exterior deck and space for a crew of 18.

‘Virginian’ is a 204.23ft /62.25m custom motor yacht built in 1990, last refitted in 2008. This stunning vessel’s luxurious exterior design and engineering are the work of De Voogt.

The yacht’s interior is beautiful and contemporary, and has been designed by David Easton.

Two fireplaces appear on this vessel, and you’ll also find a guest book library and observation lounge on board too. In many ways, the superyacht has the feel of an elegant country home.

Virginian’s stunning interior layout sleeps up to 12 guests in 6 rooms, including a master suite, 2 double cabins and 3 twin cabins. She is easily capable of carrying up to 18 crew members onboard to ensure you and your guests get the most out of your luxury sailing experience.

She is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, and has a cruising speed of 13 knots, a maximum speed of 14.5 knots and a range of 6,000nm from 136,275litre fuel tanks, she is the perfect combination of performance and luxury.

A deck Jacuzzi on board provides a great place to relax and take in the view, while a gym is fully equipped with the latest exercise equipment. Work out with a view too!

She also comes complete with a modern stabilization system to reduce roll motion even during rough seas, and the yacht also has ‘at anchor stabilizers’ to keep things smooth even at anchor/zero speed.

Business | south florida yacht brokers hit with lawsuits that claim 10% commissions violate antitrust laws.

Two newly filed federal lawsuits claim that 10% sales commissions required by South Florida’s yacht broker industry are anticompetitive and violate antitrust laws.

The claims follow an October finding by a federal jury in Kansas City, Missouri, that the National Association of Realtors conspired with brokers to artificially inflate commissions paid to real estate brokers. The ruling, and a March 15 settlement by the Realtors, is expected to radically change how homes are sold in the United States.

Both lawsuits involving yacht brokers name as defendants the International Yacht Brokers Association, based in Fort Lauderdale, the Yacht Brokers Association of America, Boats Group LLC and YATCO LLC.

Also listed as defendants in both suits are a who’s who of South Florida-based yacht brokers, including Denison Yacht Sales, MarineMax Inc., Galati Yacht Sales Inc., Allied Marine Inc., Tournament Yacht Sales LLC and Northrop & Johnson Yacht Ships, among others.

Nearly all of the defendants are headquartered in South Florida.

The most recent suit, filed on March 22, proposes a class of plaintiffs that includes anyone who listed vessels on certain Multiple Listing Services using a listing agent or broker affiliated with one of the defendants and paid a buyer’s broker commission since March 22, 2020.

The lead plaintiff in the lawsuit is Kip Lamar Snell, identified as an Alabama resident. Snell entered into an agreement with Galati to sell a 41-foot Express Cruiser Sea Ray in July 2020 and ended up paying a $12,000 commission on the $120,000 sale price, the suit states. The lawsuit lists as defendants 15 brokers and six organizations that promote the yacht trade or operate Multiple Listing Services.

That lawsuit follows one filed on Feb. 29 that proposes a class of plaintiffs that includes anyone who paid a commission to a listing broker affiliated with the defendants since Feb. 19, 2020. It lists as defendants 11 brokers and five organizations that promote the yacht trade or operate Multiple Listing Services.

The lead plaintiff in that suit is Ya Mon Expeditions, a Wyoming company that paid a “substantial broker commission” when it sold a vessel in January 2023 while represented by Tournament Yacht Sales of Tequesta.

The most recent complaint accuses the trade associations of colluding with brokers to “enforce an anticompetitive restraint that requires (sellers of pre-owned yachts and boats) to pay a brokerage fee to the buyer’s broker and a total aggregate commission fee that is inflated as a condition for selling their yachts.”

The complaint states the typical commission is 10% and is shared between the seller’s broker and the buyer’s broker under terms spelled out in Central Listing Agreements provided by the brokers associations, including the International Yacht Brokers Association and the Yacht Brokers Association of America.

Only boat brokers are able to list boats and yachts on such Multiple Listing Services as YachtWorld.com, BoatTrader.com and Boats.com, and the Multiple Listing Services will not accept listings from owners who want to sell their vessels themselves, the lawsuit states.

Yacht owners are “severely disadvantaged” if they do not list their boats for sale on the listing services, while buyers suffer because their brokers are “financially incentivized” to show boats that will earn them standard “and inflated” commission rates of 4% to 5% through co-brokerage transactions, the complaint states.

None of the defendants contacted for this story responded to a request for comment, and no response has been filed yet in either case.

Robert Allen Jr., whose Miami-based law firm Robert Allen Law represents the International Yacht Brokers Association, did not respond to emails or return a phone call.

A woman who answered the phone at the International Yacht Brokers Association said, “We have no comment on that,” and hung up after a reporter asked for her name.

Of six brokers contacted for comment about the lawsuits, only Tournament Yacht Sales responded to emails. “No comment,” the company’s response stated.

Overall commissions have increased faster than the rate of inflation in recent years as the price of larger boats and yachts have increased, according to the lawsuit that lists Snell as lead plaintiff.

The result is that boat owners pay “hundreds of millions of dollars” in inflated commissions each year, the suit alleges.

Both lawsuits allege violations of the Sherman Antitrust Act that are upheld by “brokers who should be competing with one another but, instead, cooperate with each other to the detriment of pre-owned boat sellers.”

Some brokerages represent both buyers and sellers and retain the entire 10% commissions, the suits state.

The trade associations enforce rules requiring brokers to offer their boats through a listing service and to share commissions, the suits state, adding that they can impose significant penalties on members who do not comply with their rules.

Yacht purchasers are disadvantaged by the current system, the lawsuit alleges, because their agents would otherwise negotiate for their business by decreasing their commission rates.

But buyer brokers’ commissions have remained constant despite their diminishing role, the suits state. Many buyers today find boats they are interested in purchasing through online searches and enlist the services of a buyer’s broker only after identifying the yacht they want to buy, the suits claim.

The lawsuits seek an order declaring the commission structure to be illegal, a permanent injunction outlawing what they describe as anticompetitive conduct, plus damages and/or restitution, pre- and post-judgment interest, and attorneys’ fees.

Paul Geller, an attorney for one of two law firms representing the class that includes Snell, acknowledged “parallels between the allegations relating to commissions in the real estate and yacht markets.”

In the real estate matter, the National Association of Realtors on March 15 agreed to a $418 million proposed settlement that would free home sellers from paying commissions to brokers for both sellers and buyers.

After a jury ruled for the plaintiffs in the case against the National Association of Realtors in October, numerous lawsuits were filed across the country with similar allegations, including one in December against the Florida Association of Realtors and 16 brokerages.

“At bottom, the goals of (the suit against the yacht brokers) are similar: protecting consumers by challenging what we allege to be anti-competitive conduct,” Geller said by email. “We believe in the universal truth that consumers benefit by increased transparency and the competitive pricing that results from negotiated terms, including commissions.”

Geller is a partner at Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP, which specializes in securities litigation on behalf of investors. The firm has offices in 10 cities, including Boca Raton.

This 1925 home listed for nearly $3M brings the French countryside to North Jersey

A 99-year-old home recently listed for a shade under $3 million brings a scene from the French countryside to Montclair's posh Warren Place.

Sitting amid a sea of clapboard and shingles, 67 Warren Place in Montclair is a provincial cottage designed by Frank Joseph Forster, an award-winning architect who like many Americans embraced French culture after the First World War. Listed for sale in late March, the home was expanded in 2011 but retained its aesthetic while gaining modern conveniences, according to Tamima Friedman and Robert Baldwin of Keller Williams NJ Metro Group in Montclair.

Friedman and Baldwin jointly listed the six-bedroom, six-bathroom for nearly $3 million. The home for decades has been listed on the National Registry of Historic Places owing to its standout architecture.

It was built in 1925, three years after Hoboken native Milton E. Hatfield bought a roughly square, one-acre property on the corner of Eagle Rock Way and Warren Place for $35,000. The property already had an 11-room home, according to a May 1922 report in The Montclair Times.

Hatfield, who had been living at 107 Elm St., wanted something different, however. He quickly sold the home after promising the new owner alterations, The Montclair Times reported. Hatfield kept the backyard.

Born in July 1876, Hatfield worked as an investment banker and statistician for the banking firms run by the Kountze Brothers and Brown Brothers as well as Harriman, Ripley and Co., according to his New York Times obituary. Before that, he attended both Packard Business College in New York and Stevens Institute of Technology. For his day job, he studied global economies, according to The Montclair Times. In his spare time, he sailed as a member of the Indian Harbor and New York yacht clubs.

More than your average recreational sailor, Hatfield was competitive. Aboard his small sloop Nautilus, he won the New York Yacht Club's 1921 Navy Cup Challenge during the club's annual cruise.

The cruise took the entire fleet from Glen Cove off Long Island to the Newport Yacht Club in Rhode Island, according to an account by in the Sept. 1921 issue of boat publication "The Rudder." It was the club's first cruise since 1916 due to interruptions caused by the war that led many club members to join the Navy Reserve if not donate their yachts to the military. There were stops at New Haven, New London and Block Island along the way. There were also cup races for sail- and motor-powered vessels, including the Navy Cup Challenge for sloops and schooners.

A few years after returning to Montclair with the cup, Hatfield would hire Forster to build 67 Warren. A champion of the French provincial style who studied architecture at Cooper Union between 1903 and 1908, Forster produced more houses in the style stateside than anyone had before, Gavin Townsend wrote in his 1995 essay on the style for the architectural journal Arris.

The style was rare before World War I, Virginia Savage McAlester wrote in her book "A Field Guide to American Houses." After fighting for France during the war, Americans became entranced by the nation and the rebuilding of its small villages, she wrote.

Among those who rose to prominence replicating the homes was Forster, a New York City native a decade Hatfield's junior. Forster mostly stayed in the New York metro area, but he nonetheless designed homes in Toledo, Houston and the Bahamas, according to Townsend.

"His peers recognized him as a master of the style; three years in a row, from 1927 to 1929, Forster's picturesque French houses won him some of the most prestigious medals in his profession," Townsend wrote.

The home he built for Hatfield features a sharply pitched slate roof, dormer windows and stone chimneys. Inside, there are wide-plank floors, beamed ceilings and wrought-iron accents.

Sitting on two-thirds of an acre, 67 Warren has a heated in-ground pool, an herb garden and a two-car attached garage. The circular driveway is centered on a specimen weeping Japanese maple and connected to a bluestone walkway that leads to the foyer and center hall.

The home has a gourmet eat-in kitchen with two center islands, custom cabinets and composite stone countertops. The family room has a stone-mantled gas fireplace. The primary suite has a wood-burning fireplace as well as two walk-in closets, a balcony overlooking the pool and a bathroom with a walk-in shower and a a separate jetted soaking tub. In all, the second floor boasts five bedrooms, each with an ensuite bath. The basement is fully finished.

Amadeus Description

Built by the famous Dynamique Yachts shipyard, and having undergone a total refit in 2018, S/Y Amadeus was designed to please the most demanding of yachtsmen. Built for smooth sailing, this elegant cutter rigged sloop has a sleek hull design, comfortably reaching top speeds of 12 knots and ensuring excellent sailing performance. S/Y Amadeus has just undergone this past winter (2018) a major refit such as total repaint top to bottom, new rigging (BSI Denmark), Novourania with new Evinrude 75hp outboard, Splash pool, new Bimini/Sprayhood/Awnings, new exterior fabrics and many other enhancements. In 2016 new “North Sails” were placed onboard. The yacht is maintained in excellent condition with a five-star crew year round. Her generous uncluttered teak deck offers plenty of space for sunbathing. The spacious and unique outdoor saloon has two tables seating upto 12 guests and is a perfect setting for outdoor dining and entertainment. Thanks to a special canopy and roll-up windows, the deck saloon has the added attraction that it can be fully enclosed, making it ideal for all weather conditions. Her forward area includes a splash pool and sun bathing area which can also be shaded with a removable awning. From the cockpit, a stairway leads to the light-filled spacious saloon offering ample seating, ideal for relaxing or enjoying a drink from the bar, and offers a formal dining area. This area also includes a LCD TV, entertainment center, ipod dock station, playstation, and is ideal for indoor activities. She can accommodate 10-12 guests in one full width master stateroom, two double bedded cabins each having one extra single bed and two twin bedded cabins which can be easily converted to double beds (upon request), thus, making her the only 5 double bedded sailboat in the Greek market. She also has a nice selection of toys which include water ski (adult and children), tubes, inflatable canoes, wakeboard, fishing rod and snorkeling gear.

CAPTAIN - Harry Fotopoulos Captain Harry is a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy and holds a Captain Class A’ Diploma. He also holds a Canadian Commercial Pilot license class B, sailing and speedboat license. He has over 15 years of experience onboard many types of Charter Yachts. He holds Certificates in GMDSS, Fire Fighting & First Aid, Personal Safety, Life Saving, and Ship Security. He has a great knowledge of the Greek islands and will navigate guests to remarkable destinations. During his one season on board he showed great leadership skills and received positive feedback from all guests. He is calm yet very outgoing and speaks very good English. DECKHAND - Konstantinos Santas CHIEF STEWARDESS - Mirella Davint Mirella has 8+ years of experience as a stewardess onboard charter and private yachts. She has a very pleasant personality and she aims to accommodate her guests to the fullest. Comments received from previous guests are memorable. This will be Mirella’s eighth season onboard. Mirella speaks English and she is 38 years old. ENGINEER - Stelios Mandos Stelios holds an Engineer Class B’ Diploma from the Greek Merchant Marine Academy as well as a Sailor’s License. He has over 15 years of experience onboard Ocean-Going Vessels and Charter Yachts. His hobbies include spearfishing and sailing. He speaks good English. Stelios is 45 years old, married with two children. CHEF - Thanasis Kiritsis Thanasis is 39 years old and has worked as a chef for more than 20 years in numerous hotels restaurants, yachts and resorts including owning his own pastry shop / bakery for 5 years. Thanasis looks forward to welcoming his guests on board and introducing them to his culinary world. He speaks good English and Greek. He is a young chef full of energy, skills and passion towards his job. We are confident that he will serve his guests unforgettable flavors. ASSISTANT STEWARDESS - Anastasia Yurash Anastasia is 31 years old and has been in the yachting industry since 2021. Her working experience includes 7 years as a housekeeper and assistant stewardess. Anastasia speaks very good English. One of Anastasia’s strongest attributes is her appetite for work. She is also very sociable, welcoming and looks forward to having guests on board S/Y Amadeus. Her hobbies include Latin dancing, snowboard and yoga.

AMADEUS was previously registered as project/yacht name Amadeus 1er. This 33 metre (109 ft) luxury yacht was built by Dynamique Yachts in 1991. Sailing Yacht AMADEUS is a well proportioned superyacht. The yacht is a modern sloop with a cutter rig. The naval architecture office whom authored the design work on this ship was Philippe Briand. Luxury yacht AMADEUS is a quality yacht that is able to accommodate as many as 12 guests on board and has a total of 5 crew members.

Sailing sloop AMADEUS can accommodate 10 passengers in five cabins. With one large master stateroom and four additional cabins which are all air conditioned and have en suite bathrooms. She also has two separate salons and a full dining room. The aft deck is fully covered with seating. The fore deck has an unique pool on deck and swimming in the sea is made accessible by a large swim aft platform.

The Construction & Naval Architecture relating to Luxury Yacht AMADEUS

Philippe Briand was the naval architect firm involved in the formal nautical design work for AMADEUS. Also the company Philippe Briand skillfully collaborated on this undertaking. In 1991 she was actually launched to triumph in Marans and following sea trials and final completion was afterwards passed on to the yacht owner. Dynamique Yachts completed their new build sailing yacht in France. A reasonable proportion is brought about with a maximum beam (width) of 7.5 metres / 24.6 feet. With a 3.6m (11.8ft) draught (maximum depth) she is reasonably deep. The material composite was used in the building of the hull of the sailing yacht. Her superstructure above deck is built with the use of composite. Over the deck of AMADEUS she is 32.7 (107.3 ft) in length. In 2004 extra refitting and modernisation was also finished.

Engines & Speed For S/Y AMADEUS:

She is driven by twin screw propellers. The main engine of the ship gives 375 horse power (or 276 kilowatts). She is equiped with 2 engines. The combined thrust for the boat is therefore 750 HP / 552 KW.

Her master cabin features a walk around king bed, desk/vanity, and en-suite bathroom. Additionally, there are two guest cabins each with a queen bed convertible to two twins, and two guest cabins each with a queen bed and twin bed. Each guest cabin has an en-suite.

Her main salon has a spacious, contoured conversational area, along with a large, flatscreen T.V. The aft deck features al fresco dining with Bimini top. Up on deck there are sun pads and a splash pool for you and your guests to enjoy.

Watersports offered include a 15 foot tender with 75hp engine, water skis for adults and children, tube, wakeboard, kayak, fishing gear, snorkeling gear, and rendezvous diving.

Sailing yacht AMADEUS is a stunning 110 ft yacht available for charter in Greece. With a clean, spacious teak deck and a unique outdoor saloon that can seat up to 12 guests across two tables, it’s the perfect place for outdoor dining and entertainment. The deck saloon can also be enclosed with a special canopy and roll-up windows, making it suitable for use in all weather conditions. At the front of the boat, there’s a splash pool and sunbathing area with a removable awning for shade.

Inside the boat, a staircase from the cockpit leads to a well-lit and roomy saloon area with plenty of seating, including a formal dining area, bar, LCD TV, entertainment center, iPod dock station, and Playstation. Sailing Yacht AMADEUS can accommodate 10-12 guests in five large cabins, including a full-width master stateroom and two double cabins, each with an extra single bed. The two twin cabins can also be converted to doubles upon request, making her the only sailboat on the Greek market with five double beds.

To add to the fun, sailing yacht AMADEUS also comes with a range of water toys, including adult and children’s water skis, tubes, inflatable canoes, wakeboard, fishing rod, and snorkeling gear. She was built by Dynamique Yachts in 1996 and underwent a refit in 2014/2018.

Accomodation is offered for 10 -12 guests in 5 spacious cabins: Master cabin forward features a double bed, vanity unit and generous storage facilities, as well as audio/visual entertainment. The en-suite includess a large bath tub, shower and separate WC. Two identical double cabins with additional single bunks situated forward. Two identical double cabins situated aft which can be convertible to twins. (Total 5 double beds) All cabins with en suite facilities and audio/visual entertainment.

A professional crew of 5-6 members are accommodated in separate quarters.

Charter the AMADEUS

AMADEUS is a 110-foot sailing yacht that can accommodate ten to twelve passengers in five staterooms as follows: a spacious Owner’s stateroom with a double bed, a vanity and an entertainment unit including TV, DVD and music system; two cabins with a double bed and an additional single bed; two cabins with two twin beds each. All staterooms have en suite bathrooms, a TV, DVD and CD player. There are two separate salons onboard as well as a full dining room. The aft deck is fully covered and has seating for all guests to dine in the open air. Forward of the cockpit is a lovely cushioned area for sunning and an unusual pool is found in the fore of the yacht. Swimming in the sea is made accessible by the large swim aft platform.
