Formosa Boat Building Company Ltd., often acclaimed for its exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail, was established in 1963 in Taiwan. Its inception marked a significant leap in the Taiwanese maritime industry as it was among the first few companies in the region instrumental in building boats entirely from fibreglass. Formosa's reputation for constructively solid, well-crafted, and highly reliable yachts earned it an impeccable status within the international boating community. As the company grew, it began receiving orders for larger boats and soon expanded its portfolio to include mid-sized yachts. An extensive cosmetic refit is about 80% completed -- this is a perfect time for buyer to get involved with the functional refit decisions needed.

The interior pictures show the original protective plastic on all-new overhead panels.  Much of the interior trim remains to be done to complete the cosmetic refit - inexpensive here in Rio Dulce.  This Formosa is priced at about half of what it will justify when returned to safe, reliable cruising condition -- the reason is simply the additional cost of a functional refit after purchase.  A buyer will likely have $200k-$300k into this boat before long, but then can enjoy a beautiful yacht with new equipment of their choosing.  The average price for this size/age/style sailboat is near $300k -- and that is for one with generally average equipment, not new equipment of choice.  This can be considered a project boat, but one with excellent potential to justify consideration.  Write for more information and I'll send a list of potential deficiencies to correct.  All work can be done in Rio Dulce by skilled tradesmen, or complete a Stage One here for cosmetics and to make seaworthy before a Stage Two Stateside for completion of desired equipment upgrades.

This Huge Formosa is already conveniently located in one of the finest cruising areas possible: the pristine Western Caribbean!  Now safely tucked up the beautiful Rio Dulce in Guatemala for hurricane season, same-day cruising from the Rio can have you snorkeling or diving the world’s 2nd largest barrier reef – Belize it!  Or, it’s just an overnighter away to experience the Bay Islands of Honduras (Utila, Roatan, Guanaja).  Farther voyages can have you enjoying Mexico, Jamaica, Caymans, and Panama before returning to the Rio sanctuary year after year, as countless cruisers do.  Great Yacht, Great Location… it’s time to have fun!!

Her sun deck is specially designed for outdoor enjoyment, with a complete wet bar, a spa pool, and wide sun cushions for lounging in the sun.

On the covered aft deck, which also has chairs and cocktail tables, guests may continue their outdoor dining and entertainment activities under the sun.

FORMOSA has a total of six cabins, including a master suite with a private owner’s deck, two VIP suites on her main deck, two doubles, and one twin stateroom. 

As a result of further innovation in the plan, there are two VIP staterooms on the upper deck, both of which have marble en suites. On the lower deck, there are also two guest double bedrooms and one twin cabin.

The majestic superyacht is equipped with amenities such as a pool, beach club, gym, and jacuzzi.

Additionally, she has an extensive selection of action-packed water toys and accessories like scuba diving equipment, wakeboards, kayaks, kneeboards, paddleboards, and more!

She can accommodate a total of 13 guests and 15 crew members.

FORMOSA Yacht specifications

The superstructure of the FORMOSA yacht is made of aluminum, while the hull is constructed out of steel. 

She can easily cruise at 14 knots and achieve a maximum speed of 16 knots, thanks to her 5,000 nautical miles range. 

Propelled by two 1,850hp MTU 12V4000M53 diesel engines and at-anchor stabilizers, she is able to provide unparalleled comfort for guests.

Offering an abundance of social and dining options, as well as a highly attentive crew, luxury charters aboard motor yacht Formosa are set to be truly magical whatever the destination. She is equipped with an elevator, beach club and gym.

Guest Accommodation

Formosa is great for families thanks to her child-friendly setup. Built in 2015, She offers guest accommodation for up to 12 guests with a layout comprising a master suite and five double cabins. There are 7 beds in total, including 2 king, 3 queen, 2 singles and 1 pullman. Additionally, there is a staff cabin on board.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

You and your guests can enjoy a variety of experiences on Formosa such as the pool, useful to practice your technique or just cool off. Head to the beach club and take advantage of indoor-outdoor living and entertaining and in addition maintain your fitness routine and work out in the well-equipped gym. Retreat to the deck jacuzzi and soak up the scenery.

Formosa benefits from some excellent features to improve your charter such as an elevator, making any part of the yacht quickly and easily accessible. Stay connected to the outside world on long voyages with satellite communications and in addition with Wi-Fi connectivity you don't have to lose contact with the outside world, unless you want to. You can stay comfortable on board whatever the weather, with air conditioning during your charter.

Performance & Range

Formosa is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Powered by twin MTU engines, she comfortably cruises at 14 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 5,000 nautical miles from her 145,000 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. Formosa features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels.

Formosa knows a thing or two about fun on the water, with an extensive selection of action packed water toys and accessories for you and your guests to enjoy whilst on charter. Take to the sea on a Jet Ski offering you power and control on the water. Another excellent feature are towable toys offering fun and adventure. Extreme sports fans will appreciate the included Kite Surfers. If that isn't enough Formosa also features scuba diving equipment, wakeboards, kayaks, kneeboards and paddleboards. Formosa features two tenders, but leading the pack is a 8m/26'3" Limo Tender to transport you in style.

Formosa and her crew are available for charter this winter for cruising within the Caribbean and Central America. She is already accepting bookings this summer for cruising in Bermuda and the Caribbean.
