Below Deck Sailing Yacht: All The Charter Guests From Season 3
Below Deck fans always want to learn more about the charter guests that come on the show. In Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 , a lot of colorful characters paid to be charter guests on Parsifal III .
Like most seasons of Below Deck , BDSY season 3 included some charter guests who were total nightmares for the crew to please. Meanwhile others were polite and kind. Here are all the BD SY primary charter guests, and many of their friends also on the show, from season 3. The total charter tip money given by each group is also included.
Wedding Charter Guests Allegra & Gabe From Charter 9
Allegra and Gabe ‘s wedding on the beach had Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher and Captain Glenn Shephard emotional because of the beautiful ceremony. Co-primary charter guests Matt and Laura, along with other friends, watched their good friends tie the knot. Chef Marcos faced a challenging group of guests and had to make a gluten-free wedding cake.
Junior Stew Ashley Marti got high praise from Daisy and fans for her work preparing the wedding.
Primary Charter Guest Lane Merrifield & Other Guests From Charter 8
Rich Canadian tech entrepreneur and co-founder of Club Penguin Lane Merrifield brought along a group of friends and his fiancé Amanda. This group of Canadians had a blast partying on the yacht, despite not being able to sail. They showed the crew how to do a hurricane, in which you take a shot, then have someone throw water in your face and slap you. They also had a sailing competition against the crew, which they narrowly lost.
Chef Marcos was put to the test because Lane requested molecular gastronomy , but as always, he rose to the challenge and wowed the guests.
These “classiest, funniest and kindest” charter guests left the crew the best tip of the season, $23,000 or $2,555 per crew member.
Primary Charter Guest Keely Washburn & Other Guests From Charter 7
“Aspiring real estate agent” Keely Washburn, her friends and their moms were the guests on charter 7. This group of charter guests were well-behaved compared to Dr. Kim Nichols and Erica Rose’s groups.
The other charter guests alongside Keely were: friend Jennifer Husk, Husk’s mom Susan, friend Belinda Benham, Benham’s mom Debbie, friend Bailey Fuller, Bailey’s mom Wendy, and friend Jess Cimato.
The ladies didn’t get a lot of screen time to drama happening between the crew, but the most memorable moment was when some of the ladies called Chef Marcos “muy caliente” several times.
Keely and her gang left the crew $16,400, $1,820 for each crew member.
Primary Dr. Kim Nichols & Other Charter Guests From Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 Charter 6
Below Deck Sailing Yacht charter guest Dr. Kim Nichols hasn’t yet come aboard Parsifal but she’s already making waves. Her preference sheet was read out by Captain Glenn Shephard in episode 10 and she wants all the crew to refer to her as “Dr. Nichols”.
Kim is a self-described celebrity cosmetic dermatologist with her own practice, called SkinLab , based in Greenwich, Connecticut. She is happily married to attorney Chris Cabanillas and is a mom of three children.
Kim made TV appearances on Megyn Kelly and Dr. Oz’s shows. Dr. Nichols’ Instagram mostly includes work-related posts of her and her employees conducting procedures and skincare advice.
Kim and her husband Chris chartered Parsifal III with their friends: Investment banker Dino and his wife Donna, Miami surgeon Pedro and his wife Adriana. The group tipped the crew $20,000, which resulted in each cast member making $2,500.
Primary Charter Guest Dawn, Husband & Friends From Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 Charter 5
On charter 5 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3, charter guests Dawn Zacha and her husband Tim Miller join the crew to sail. The other guests on the charter include their friends: Marni and her husband Brian, Lauren and her husband Jamie.
On Dawn’s Instagram , she shares pictures of her enjoying life in Chicago with husband Tim and their daughter. Dawn’s an independent sales professional, vegan foodie who loves bikinis, yoga and dance. Her husband Tim is a software company CEO who loves sailing on Lake Michigan.
Her friends and husband don’t have their Instagram accounts set to private. On the show they have been relatively tame compared to other charter guests.
These charter guests were pleased with the service, and Dawn enjoyed her vegan meals. They left a generous charter tip of $20,000 or $2,500 for each crew member remaining after Tom’s firing.
4th Charter: Charter Guests Jim Blumenthal, Veronica, Chris, Ken, Rick & Marni
Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 Primary charter guest Jim Blumenthal owns businesses in Boulder, Colorado. He’s the President of Trailer Source and owns an RV dealership, per LinkedIn .
Jim and his friends were fairly easy-going while on the show, except they made the crew do a talent show. His long-term girlfriend Veronica stipulated the sailing yacht should be full of flowers. She’s a registered nurse.
Jim’s good friend Ken is another charter guest on the boat. He’s also a businessman who owns and operates office buildings. He’s a self-described comedian and is married to his wife Chris. She is in charge of the upkeep for their “multiple” homes across the US.
Jim and Veronica’s other friends invited as charter guests were Rick and Marni. Rick is a retired tech company executive and his wife Marni is in sales. Rick also loves to try rare and expensive wines.
Jim, Veronica and Co. left the cast a great tip of $21,000, or $25,030 for each crew member. Tom was fired in the middle of charter, so he was given only $760 in tip money.
3rd Charter: Charter Guests James Cox Junior, Bunny & Brother Tyler
Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 charter guests James Cox Junior, his brother Tyler Cox , their “cougar” friend Amy “Bunny” Dunn and the guys’ dad James Cox Senior all had a blast on Parsifal III.
On their charter, the group had a great time despite the lack of wind for sailing. Tyler, a wine connoisseur, imbibed too much and passed out cold at the first dinner. Tyler took over the family tile business based in Florida. Meanwhile, James Jr. is a successful real estate broker based in Manhattan, New York.
Their long-time friend Amy Dunn posted on Instagram a lot on their trip. Amy, a stunning 51, had fun hitting on the male crew members.
James Sr. celebrated his 75th birthday while on the sailing yacht.
This group of guests gave the crew a tip total of $16,000 or $1,778 per person.
2nd Charter: Charter Guests Erica Rose & Charles Sanders
Reality TV lover Erica Rose and her husband Charles Sanders made their mark in Below Deck charter guest history. They will not soon be forgotten as some of the worst charter guests to disgrace themselves on a yacht.
Erica Rose is an Instagram influencer and lawyer from Houston, Texas. She is an aspiring reality TV star who has been on The Bachelor , Bachelor Pad , Dr. Phil and Inside Edition . She has two daughters, one with Charles “Chuck” and one with her ex fiance.
Charles is also a lawyer, and shares a practice with Erica . He focuses on auto injury law. Charles gave a crying apology for his appalling behavior while on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3.
Erica’s mom Cindi Rose was also on the charter. She added to the madness of the charter by staining a white couch with brown bronzer and arriving late after getting kicked off a flight.
This Erica Rose’s infamous group of charter guests gave a pathetic $6,500 tip to the crew. This meant crew members only received only $722 each for the charter.
1st Charter: Primary Charter Guest McCordia Young
Washington DC real estate investor McCordia Young and the other charter guests were a relatively tame group compared to Erica Rose’s family.
They kept Chef Marcos very busy in the galley due to their insatiable appetites. Things took a bad turn when McCordia got too drunk and was sexually harassing Gabriela Barragan . She brushed off his inappropriate advances like a pro.
McCordia’s friends on the charter with him included his ex lover and business partner Norman Slye-Hawkins . He also invited other real estate agents including Leisel Taylor, Arnita Greene, Aliya Johnson.
McCordia and the other charter guests gave a total tip of $17,600. Each crew member received $1,955 in total tip money from the first charter.
This article will be updated with the latest on new charter guests from this season.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 Episode 2 Review: 'Age-Old Problems'
It's the second episode of the third season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, and Gabriela is already having problems with a guest...
It's the second episode of the third season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht and the scene opens on steward Gabriela warding off a persistent guest, McCordia .Finally able to send him to bed, Gabriela remains confident in her learned abilities to politely get people to back off. The following morning, McCordia apologizes to Gabriela, and the two reconcile any drunken mishaps that occurred the night before. Having hashed it out with McCordia, Gabriela prepares for the guests' next event: the beach party. Spoiler Alert: The rest of this article contains spoilers from Episode 2: 'Age-Old Problems'
The Charter Guests Enjoy A Beach Party Overlooking The Ocean
As the guests arise in the morning, Marcos whips up a hearty breakfast of fruit, cheese, meat, eggs benedict, smoked salmon, and more. His hope is that he'll be able to satiate the guests for the remainder of their trip.

In preparation for the beach party, Gabriela and Kelsie head to the beach to set up. While Gabriela says she's only coordinated 2 beach picnics over her year of experience, she's ready for the challenge. Facing wind as the biggest obstacle, Gabriela and Kelsie are able to pull of a successful beach picnic, satisfying the guests with Marcos' potato salad, ribs, and jerk chicken, and of course, mimosas and wine.
The Crew Prepares For Aliya's Birthday Party
Back on the ship, the crew prepares to sail. Though they had their share of food at the picnic, the guests ask Marcos to prepare them a snack. Surprisingly unsurprised by their request for a midday snack, Marcos makes teriyaki steak for the guests. As the sails go up, the boat starts heeling harder than expected, and the guests and Marcos' teriyaki steak go down.

At night, Gabriela and Ashley prep for Aliya's birthday dinner, decorating the dining area in black and gold. Marcos brings out a hefty 4-course meal that completely satiates the guests for the first time on charter. The stewards then prepare the deck for her hip-hop/pajama themed party where Tom is asked to present the birthday cake to Aliya wearing nothing but his tighty whities.
After a fun filled evening complete with Glenn's Aladdin pants and Gary and McCordia licking frosting off Tom's nipples, the guests awaken to a lavish brunch prepared by Marcos, and prepare for docking. While the docking process goes smoothly, Tom expresses his aggravation in feeling that he's not being helped as much as he'd like. Regardless of his agitation, the guests thank the crew for the wonderful trip, and head on their way.

The Crew Enjoys Their First Real Night Out
Once the guests depart, it's time for the crew to have some fun of their own. As the drinks start flowing, Gary gets flirty with Daisy while Ashley watches from the balcony through seething, envious eyes. At dinner, Colin asks Ashley how she feels about working under a fiery personality like Gabriela's. While Ashley says she's complacent for the time being, she tells Colin there may be some issues lurking in the near future.
Back on the boat, the crew put on their bathing suits and head into the hot tub. Daisy admits that it's been seamless working with the crew thus far, but she anticipates drama ahead between Gabriela and Ashley. Gary leaves the hot tub to pour Daisy another drink, followed by Ashley who tells him she's "something that starts with H and ends in Y." Continuing her drunk escapade, Ashley and Tom have at it, with Ashley boasting that no one will find interest in Tom because of his age.
Fan Reactions
Judging by fan reactions, it's evident that Marcos is currently the fan favorite of the group, winning the favor of multiple individuals across the Twitter-sphere. His patience and skill are clearly unmatched, providing plentiful entertainment and respect from Below Deck Sailing Yacht admirers.
As far as Ashley goes, however, it seems fans aren't too keen on her personality, given the aggression she's shown during the last two episodes.
Episode Verdict
It's evident that there are dark waters ahead as Ashley and Tom's tiff continues to spiral. As for her relationship with Gabriela, it doesn't seem Ashley is too keen on ensuring it's a steady one. Though she points fingers at Tom for his age-based "immaturity" (they're the same age), it's clear that Ashley is the most immature and toxic of the group.
Tom, it's obvious you've dodged a bullet. As for Gary, there's one piece of advice we'd like to offer: Run. Find out what happens next, only on Bravo.

Screen Rant
Best charter guests from below deck sailing yacht season 3 ranked.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 had a few horrible guests, but the good ones outweighed them. Here are a few of the best charter guests this year.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 had its fair share of horrible guests but also had a few amazing ones. Fans were first introduced to the newer Below Deck franchise in February 2020 when season 1 aired. The first season included Captain Glenn Shephard, a slew of new yachties, and one familiar face, Chef Adam Glick. However, the cast didn't resonate with fans, and Bravo did a complete cast shake-up for season 2 with only Captain Glenn returning.
Fans thoroughly enjoyed BDSY season 2, as they love the new yachties, the many boatmances, and the hilarious guests. Not to mention a surprise pregnancy with Dani Soares and Jean-Luc Lanaux , which led to a paternity test. As for BDSY season 3, it's become a must-watch with Below Deck fans.
Related: Below Deck: The Worst Tippers Throughout The Franchise
BDSY season 3 not only saw the return of Cheif Steward Daisy Kelliher, First Mate Gary King, and Engineer Colin Macrae but always some great new additions and new boatmances. Gary, of course, found himself hooking up with more than half of the women on the boat, including his close friend Daisy. However, none of the drama between the crew compared to how much the fans adored some of the charter guests this season.
3. BDSY Season 3 Guests Who Had A Wedding
The most recent guests on BDSY season 3 are Allegra Gray and Gabe Szczepanek. The couple chartered the sailing yacht in Spain with a few friends for their upcoming wedding. While their friends were difficult for Chef Marco Spaziani to accommodate due to one of their friends' severe gluten allergy, their group was pleasant overall. Allegra and Gabe even got married during their charter, and the whole crew was in attendance.
2. BDSY Season 3 Fourth Charter Guests
Another amazing group this season was the fourth charter from BDSY season 3. Primary charter guest Jim Blumenthal and his friends were laidback, despite making the crew put on a talent show. Nonetheless, the BDSY team had fun with it, and the guests showed how much they appreciated their work with a large tip at the end.
1. BDSY Season 3 Guests From Canada
The most likable guests from BDSY season 3 were primary charter guest Lane Merrifield and his friends from Vancouver. The Canadian group had a ton of fun partying on the yacht, even though they could not sail while on board. Despite the difficult task of molecular gastronomy they asked from Chef Marcos, the guests made up for it by having the BDSY crew do hurricane shots with them. It's no surprise that the Canadian group was the best charter guests' this season.

Why Below Deck's Familiar New Stew Is Already Starting Drama
Originally appeared on E! Online
A bombshell new yachtie is rocking the boat on Below Deck .
After Stew Cat Baugh left the St. David due to personal issues, the crew met her season 11 replacement: Stew Paris Field , who just so happened to be a familiar face to Chief Stew Fraser Olender .
"Oh my god, I can't believe it's you!" Fraser said of Paris' arrival on the April 8 episode before explaining in a confessional, "I know who Paris is. She is the ex of one of my very dear friends."
The Below Deck alum in question? Season nine Lead Deckhand Jake Foulger .
After the Perth native joined the group at dinner, many of the male crewmembers immediately took notice of Paris' good looks. And, yes, she plans to wave waves this season.
"I'm outgoing, funny and I love mayonnaise," Paris shared in a confessional. "I definitely say what's on my mind, I think because I don't have any serotonin or any happiness left so I just wanna stir the pot and regain some of that happiness back through people's suffering. That's not really true, I'm not evil. I promise."
The Most Dramatic Below Deck Firings Ever
Paris' arrival put Deckhand Sunny Marquis on the defensive as she worried the Stew's presence could threaten her boatmance with Lead Deckhand Ben Willoughby .
"I'm definitely a little bit jealous," Sunny noted in a confessional. "Now there's a drop-dead gorgeous blonde coming in, she's from Australia, they've got things in common together. I definitely feel a little worried about what Ben thinks of her."
The next day, Deckhand Dylan Pierre De Villiers attempted some not-so-smooth flirting with Paris during a beach day on the crew's day off.
"It's very funny that you're named Paris and you're from Australia," he told her. "You should have been called crocodile or crocs or something. You look like that girl that would wear Crocs though. Do you like Steve Irwin ?"
Paris responded to Dylan's advances with one word: cringe.
"Dylan's gorgeous, but f--k he's so awkward," she said in a confessional. "Personality wise? A three. If he was mute, I think he'd get a lot more action."
And when Ben joined the two and began touching Paris' arm, Sunny took note of the PDA.
"The guy I'm dating touching another woman makes me feel uncomfortable to be honest," she admitted. "Uncomfortable and angry. Mad disrespect."
Plus, in a preview for the April 15 episode, it seems Ben's flirting with Paris continues, leading to a confrontation between him and Sunny. As she told him in the sneak peek, "That's not cool, you just look like an a--hole. That is just not OK, Ben."

Who are return Below Deck charter guests Carmen and Brandon?
Carmen Felder and Brandon McLaughlin are back on Below Deck with a new group causing problems from day one.
Below Deck Down Under fans will recall in Season 2 Carmen was the primary, and Brandon was her guest.
Brandon, for his part, almost got kicked off the Northern Sun when he and Kristyl tried to go night swimming.
Captain Jason Chambers warned them that the charter would end if they broke his rule.
The charter guests were not only demanding but filled with drama that kept Below Deck viewers entertained.
It was more of the same the second time around, especially with Brandon, so it’s time for a little refresher on him and Carmen.
Who is Below Deck charter guest Carmen Felder?
The sixth charter on Below Deck Season 11 had Carmen returning and bringing her husband, Ray Lyles. Their preference sheet revealed they were to be called Queen Carmen and King Ray, setting the charter’s tone.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Carmen Felder (@felder.carmen)
Carmen is a very successful entrepreneur who owns her own PR management company that specializes in the needs of athletes. Along with being a businesswoman, Carmen is also known for her elite social status in Washington, D.C.
Below Deck Down Under wasn’t Carmen’s first venture into the reality TV world either. Carmen was also on the OWN network’s Ready To Love Potomac and Love And Marriage: DC.
Reality TV isn’t her only on-screen camera gig, as Carmen has years of experience at Fox 5 DC.
While it seems Carmen will have a much calmer experience the second time around with her hubby Ray by her side, Brandon seems to be just as much trouble as he was on Below Deck Down Under.
Who is charter guest Brandon McLaughlin on Below Deck?
Like Carmen, Brandon lives in the DC area and often cohosts Fox 5 DC. The two can be seen doing various segments together, with Carmen referring to them in one of her IG posts as “Black Barbie and Ken.”
Aside from his hosting duties, Brandon is also a Realtor at Pearson Smith Realty, serving the DC and Virginia areas. Brandon is an advocate for raising awareness amid the current opioid crisis, too.
Despite what Below Deck viewers may witness on-screen from Brandon, he did make friends while filming Season 11. Earlier this year, he was in the audience when Barbie Pascual appeared on Watch What Happens Live.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Brandon McLaughlin (@brandonmcl90)
Brandon also appeared at a watch party with Captain Kerry Titheradge last night to kick off his two-episode stint with Carmen.
The first episode ended with a lot of drama as Brandon clashed with Ray, and Carmen had to smooth things over. If we know anything, it’s that this chaos is far from over.
In other Below Deck news, as Monsters and Critics previously reported, Ben Willoughby dropped a bombshell about that captain . There is also more crew firings coming up with Chef Anthony Iracane’s future on the St. David in jeopardy.

A Controversial Guest Returned to Below Deck and Brought *Lots* of "Drama"
"I live for guest drama but not this guest drama," Below Deck stew Barbara Pascual exclaimed about the issues on the boat.
A familiar face popped up during Season 11, Episode 11 of Below Deck on April 15. Who? None other than a former charter guest named Brandon.
Who is Below Deck charter guest Brandon?
Brandon previously appeared on Below Deck Down Under Season 2. While aboard the Northern Sun vessel, he forwent the yacht's rules by jumping in the ocean at night with another guest, Kristyl. The boat blunder caused drama with Captain Jason Chambers , who issued a stern warning to the guests to not go against his order or they would go "back to the marina."

Brandon made a memorable arrival as stew Barbara "Barbie" Pascual offered him Prosecco and sparkling rosé, and he promptly replied, "All the above!"
Then, during dinner, Brandon started to rock the boat when he confronted another guest.
Brandon, more specifically, addressed Ray, the boyfriend of primary guest Carmen, to point out the "tension" he felt when coming on the boat due to a past experience between the two.

A heated conversation ensued, prompting Barbie to weigh in during a confessional interview. "I live for guest drama but not this guest drama," she said. "This guest drama's dark."
New stew Paris Field had a lighter take on the events at dinner, saying in an interview, "The bickering...it's comedy gold."
Back at the dinner table, another guest offered his thoughts on the matter: "Seems like this got more out of pocket than it needed to be."

Carmen, for her part, tried to bring peace, explaining, "Listen, the only way we can change is if we inform and educate."
Ultimately, things cooled down and the two men did make peace when Brandon returned to the table. "I want you to know I love you and I adore you," Brandon said to Ray.
"I know, and I understand where you're coming from," Ray responded.

'Below Deck's Chef Anthony Is Season 11's Biggest Success
New Chef Anthony Iracane is cooking up a storm on the hit Bravo show
The Big Picture
- Chef Anthony maintains a positive attitude, takes critiques, and accepts challenges with flexibility.
- Chef Anthony's ability to communicate openly and vulnerably sets him apart from other chefs on the franchise.
- Despite some struggles with organization and time management, Chef Anthony's endearing qualities make him a valuable asset on the St. David.
The success of each season on the Below Deck franchise hinges largely on the chef's abilities. Not only are they responsible for the round-the-clock satisfaction of the guests, but they are also responsible for keeping the crew fueled at all hours as well. The position truly requires a high level of culinary skills and incredible organization in order to be successful. But the other skills that are required have to do with communication and intention, a mindfulness of the important role they play in everyone's ability to have a good time . Guests want their requests met, and the crew need their energy in order to keep a very complicated machine running. Throughout the different iterations of the franchise over the years, there have been chefs who can fill the position with clear-headed competence, and others who have left something to be desired for its reality viewers.
In Season 11 , Chef Anthony Iracane stepped into the role and immediately proved that he had the passion and creativity to bring a variety of culinary feats to the guests. Any hiccups he has encountered can be attributed to building experience. He has always found a way to learn from the mistakes he has made, finding a way to correct and improve wherever he can. His culinary skills are not the only ones that Chef Anthony brings to the St. David this season. His openness and vulnerability also prove to be his strength . Through his interactions with the crew and his confessionals, Anthony has found ways to express himself while also maintaining a professional standard that is admirable. Especially when compared to some of the other chefs from the franchise that have shown themselves to be less capable than Anthony in many different ways.
Follows the crew of a multi million dollar charter boat in the Caribbean.
'Below Deck's Chef Anthony Is Open to Any Challenge
It is true that in recent episodes, fatigue seems to be getting the better of Chef Anthony. His time management and organizational skills leave room for improvement. However, when comparing Chef Anthony to other problematic chefs on the franchise, he always comes out looking like an all-star. While his kitchen may be chaotic at times, his positive attitude and endearing qualities never seem to waiver. This is largely due to the vulnerability and openness that he has shared with viewers this season. Over the course of the season, he has proved that he is open to any challenge, open to critique, and open to communicating his emotions at all times.
'Below Deck Down Under' Is Bravo's Best Kept Secret
Being a chef is a role that requires a certain amount of passion. The hours are long, the recipients of your work can be ungrateful, and the pressure of the kitchen can be incredibly stressful. Especially when, like Chef Anthony, they are a one-person department. Anthony has certainly got his steps in this season, running up and down stairs to the freezer to get the ingredients he needs to prepare meals for the guests and crew. He often struggles to get assistance from the crew, who have been in a compromising position this season after losing two key staff members in close succession. When speaking about why he loves his profession, Anthony says, "Cooking brings people together. You know, you need that passion and love."
Chef Anthony Has a Positive Attitude
When a vegan guest comes aboard and Chef Anthony has the challenge of making tofu tasty, he takes it in stride. As he prepares scallops for the other guests, he explains that he wants the vegan guest to have the same experience of being amazed by her meal as the other guests. So he takes time to prepare the tofu in such a way that it looks just like little scallops on the plate. Taste, presentation, and guest experience are important to the Chef , no matter the circumstances. Compare this attitude to Chef Ryan McKeown from Philadelphia on Below Deck Down Under . When his charter guests caught a squid while fishing on their vacation, they requested that the Chef prepare it for them. Chef Ryan heatedly refused at first, putting his crew in the awkward position of not being able to answer the guests' request. Chef Ryan was only forced to concede when the guests asked him point-blank about the squid. His negative attitude was the last straw for Captain Jason Chambers , who reached out to the staffing agency for chef resumés right after the incident.
The ‘Below Deck’ Crew Got the Jill Zarin Experience
When Chef Anthony is confronted by a request or restriction, while it may be irksome, he rises to the challenge. Early in the season, when a charter guest has a series of lengthy restrictions on the type of food that she prefers to eat, Chef Anthony's positive attitude didn't waiver. He showed he can be flexible in accommodating restrictions, adjusting to requests, and providing options for the primary to keep her happy. He says, with a particularly French charm: "Let her pick between different options. You know what, princess, don't worry. I got you." However, as the season wears on and the guests become more difficult, even the passionate Chef Anthony has his limits. Despite putting his best effort forward, he stumbled when trying to keep the many restrictions and allergies straight when Real Housewives of New York City alum Jill Zarin and her friends came aboard . Their pickiness got the better of him, but even when facing tough criticism, Chef Anthony didn't lose his cool.
Criticism Is No Problem in Anthony's Galley
Captain Kerry Titheradge understands better than anyone how sensitive a creative temperament can be, and how artistic people need to be handled with care. When Chief Steward Fraser Olender spoke to Captain Kerry about the galley being disorganized, the Captain admitted that he needed to be careful with how hard he pushed Anthony to change his ways: "Chefs are artists, and they can be quite sensitive. Anthony is a great chef and I don't want to push him over the edge." He even tried to get Fraser to see the chef's perspective, allowing that at the end of the day, chefs are sensitive because their art is being so frequently critiqued . Chef Anthony has been remarkably open when it comes to his struggles with dyslexia, which seems to play a big part in his ability to keep his galley and guest orders organized, especially when they come at him at a rapid fire pace.
At the beginning of the charter season, it took Chef Anthony a moment to learn the correct balance between crew numbers and the amount of food he made for them. However, when Captain Kerry stepped in to request Anthony prepare more food, Anthony took the criticism in stride. Although it might have hurt his creative sensibilities, he understood when the Captain advised him to focus less on perfection and just turn out some basic meals like sandwiches to keep the crew fueled. Anthony is at first hurt at the thought of limiting his creativity for the sake of abundance. However, he warms to the idea and, in a confessional, says that from then on there would be a "buffet every day" for the crew.
Now that the series is mid-season, fatigue has set in and Anthony's timing and organization are beginning to affect service more consistently, especially when guests have those pesky restrictions. The most recent episode showed Anthony forgetting to accommodate a guest's dislike of both seafood and vegetables. Earlier in the season, having spent hours cleaning the galley after a long day of cooking, Chef Anthony observed: "Sometimes, you know, when you're tired, exhausted, it's hard to be creative in this vibe." After running the galley by himself all season, his resilience seemed to be wearing out. In a preview for episode twelve , Anthony admits the service is not where it needs to be. Captain Kerry will be having a sit-down chat with Anthony about his organization affecting service in upcoming episodes, according to episode eleven's "next on" preview. Hopefully, the Chef continues his frankness and opens up to Captain Kerry about ways he needs more support in the kitchen. He tells TV Insider that when a crew member goes out of their way to help him in the kitchen, he views them as "family." They would do anything for him, and he in turn would do anything for them.
It would be a shame to see Chef Anthony depart the St. David, when other chefs who have been fired in the past have been much less sympathetic in their reasons for their errors. For instance, on Below Deck Mediterranean , Chef Adam Glick took offense to the request that onions be avoided in the cuisine for one group of charter guests. Instead of simply accommodating the request, Chef Adam went out of his way to slip onions into the dishes he prepared. He even went so far as to make french onion soup, as an affront to the guest who had made the request. In the face of such petty behavior, Chef Anthony's struggles with organization seem a minor infraction that could be greatly helped with some assistance from the Chief Steward when it comes to planning in advance.
Chef Anthony's Honestly Is Refreshing
Communication is key in any work environment, and viewers of this season know that with Captain Kerry it is a top priority. Anthony's greatest strength this season, besides his creative cuisine, has undoubtedly been his ability to communicate. It is not always easy for men to honestly express their emotions, especially in a work environment with intense pressure. But whether it is a confessional or a conversation with crew members, Chef Anthony has shown his heartfelt emotions every step of the way this season. From his love of cooking, to his desire to take care of his mother so that she can retire, to mourning the death of his father, Chef Anthony has been refreshingly vulnerable this season on Below Deck , endearing him to the audience.
His vulnerability also allows for some hilariously insightful moments as well. When Anthony described his love life, he offered a quick summary of the time that his ex-wife left him for the Captan of another boat. Who also just so happened to be his uncle. The way that Anthony relays the story has such charm that the audience laughs with him as he describes the new love of his life, saying: "So, for the moment, I'm literally in love with my cat." His openness with the rest of the crew about his emotions on the anniversary of his father's death allowed him to gain sympathy and friendship, with Fraser and Steward Barbie Pascual going out of their way to comfort and console him. When this behavior is compared with how Chef Leon Walker treated his crew on Season 3 of Below Deck , the difference is immediately noticeable. Chef Leon was so nasty to Chief Steward Kate Chastain that he even went out of his way to pour honey on her bed as a "practical joke," a fact which she revealed in a post on Twitter in 2020. Chef Anthony would never.
Chef Anthony's openness to accepting challenges, taking critiques, and expressing his emotions makes him a rare find on reality TV . While he and his crew have been overburdened this season by circumstances beyond their control, his abilities often make the best of a bad situation. While his struggles with organization and time management can be frustrating for crew and guests alike, his endearing qualities more than compensate. Hopefully, the upcoming chat with Captain Kerry will result in more support in the kitchen and, perhaps, assistance in planning meals up front to keep the guests happy.
