Nude cruise to set sail from Florida next year: Here are the starting costs, itinerary

The "Big Nude Boat" cruise, which allows passengers to bare all − yes, even at the buffet − is set to sail from Florida next year.

The "11-day adventure" to the Caribbean is set for the first two weeks of February on the Norwegian Pearl, according to the Bare Necessities Tour & Travel website.

"Bare Necessities’ newest nude cruise is a private island double-dip with a brand new travel partner!" the company wrote on its website.

The trip which embarks from Miami, includes "an exclusive visit to an idyllic private island" in The Bahamas as well a another exclusive stop on the way back to the Port of Miami.

"Two opportunities to enjoy a new slice of Bare-adise, coupled with a beautiful selection of Eastern Caribbean island stops, will make this a can’t miss Big Nude Boat experience," the travel company posted.

The ship departs from the Port of Miami on Feb. 3 and returns to the same port on Feb. 14.

The itinerary includes stops at the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, Dominica, Martinique and St. Lucia.

Bare Necessities Tour & Travel (a nudism-focused travel company) has announced an 11-day Caribbean cruise for nudists on Norwegian Pearl.

Although the cruise represents a new partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the company has chartered over 75 full-ship nude and clothing-optional cruises since 1990.

Norwegian Pearl has a maximum capacity of 2,394 guests with staterooms spread across seven decks. The ship offers 16 dining venues, 14 bars and lounges, a casino, and a spa, so guests will have ample opportunities to relax and socialize with people with shared interests.

In addition to the onboard entertainment on the ship, Bare Necessities typically hosts a passenger talent show and themed events.

The ship has a range of staterooms, including accommodations in The Haven , the ship-within-a-ship concept pioneered by NCL. Upscale amenities at this luxury enclave include 24-hour butler service, concierge services, keycard access, and a private sundeck.

Prices for the cruise, based on double occupancy, start at around $2000 per person and go up to more than $30,000 for a three-bedroom Garden Villa in The Haven.

FAQs on the Bare Necessities website explicitly states that clothing will be required while docked at port, in the main and specialty dining rooms, and during the Captain’s reception. Crew members are clothed throughout the cruise and all guests must be 21 years and older.

So, what do you pack in a carry-on for a nude cruise?

At a minimum, you’ll need lots of sunscreen, a swimsuit for excursions, and appropriate attire for the dining rooms.

The “Big Nude Boat” will set sail from Miami, Florida on February 3, 2025, and make stops at San Juan, Puerto Rico; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Roseau, Domenica; Port-de-France, Martinique; and Castries, San Lucia, before returning to Miami on February 14, 2025.

The itinerary includes two stops at the line’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay, Bahama.

"Big Nude Boat" offers a trip to "bare-adise" on a naked cruise from Florida

Like to travel light? One cruise ship soon to set sail from Florida is making sure all you need is the bare necessities – no shoes, no clothes but plenty of service. 

" The Big Nude Boat " will take travelers from Miami to the Caribbean on "an 11-day adventure back to Bare-adise," the website says. Setting sail from Feb. 3 through Valentine's Day 2025, the trip offers a "stress-free, clothes-free experience" during which up to 2,300 passengers can roam the ship in the nude while out at sea. 

"It's our pleasure to provide you with the luxury of deciding what NOT to wear," Bare Necessities Tour and Travel says.

Passengers won't be allowed to be naked when the ship is docked, but can ditch their usual attire once they are anchored or out on the water. And when clothing is optional, standard nudist etiquette must be abided by, the website says. When sitting, nude passengers must either wear a thong or sit on a towel or some kind of fabric. And while the self-serve buffet on the pool deck is a clothes-free area, passengers must be dressed for all dining room meals – and no, bathrobes don't count. 

Photos and videos will also not be permitted unless all individuals being documented give consent. 

"The Big Nude Boat" is just one of the cruises offered by Bare Necessities, which says on its website that the company has been "working to break down the barriers against social nudity and make clothing-optional vacationing a viable and acceptable option for all." 

"Social nudity is not a sexual activity, and we strive to dispel the misconception that it is anything but natural and beautiful," the company says. "We have made strides in the acceptance of nude vacationing and our wide range of cruise charters are a testament to our success."

Feadship announces landmark launch of fuel-cell powered 119m superyacht Project 821

Dutch shipyard Feadship has marked a milestone moment in the yachting industry with the launch of the first fuel-cell-powered superyacht. Known only as Project 821, the 118.8-metre RWD -designed superyacht was rolled out of the shed at Feadship’s van Lent facility today (4 May) and has now joined the market with Edmiston .

The breakthrough project will store liquid hydrogen on board (in temperatures below -253°C) and will use a fuel cell source to generate electricity for both hotel load and coastal navigations. The project required significant development in regulations for "hydrogen storage and fuel-cell systems at class, flag-state [and] IMO level", according to the yard.

"The aim has been to develop a new, clean technology not just for this project," said Jan-Bart Verkuyl, Feadship director and CEO at Royal Van Lent Shipyard, "but for the world."

As well as the yacht’s green credentials, she also marks the largest motor yacht ever launched in the Netherlands, eclipsing the recently-launched Launchpad with around "30 per cent more volume".

Project 821 will include amenities such as a semi-submerged Neptune lounge, cinema, library, hospital facility and 8.2-metre pool with contraflow. Light-enhancing features include an atrium with a staircase that wraps around the elevator and floor-to-ceiling windows with clear glass balustrades that offer unobstructed views.

The yacht borrows "Nikki Beach" style cues and has been designed to feel like a "secluded, four-level townhouse by the sea". Accommodation is for a total of 30 people thanks to 12 cabins – although this can be configured to account for smaller parties – and includes intimate spaces like a coffee corner and games niche.

Charlie Baker, director at RWD, said the British studio was "immensely proud to have been involved in such a forward-thinking project". "We hope it inspires other projects to think differently in the future," he added.

For the interior, the "coastal" ambience was created with textured fabrics and leathers, marble, rattan, fumed and taupe eucalyptus, and limed oak. For the exterior, RWD worked with Feadship to install more hull openings than the yard had ever attempted before – including fourteen balconies and seven unfolding platforms – and condense the yacht’s huge volume into a "sleek" package.

"From the beginning, one of the biggest hurdles would be developing a reasonable way to store compressed liquid hydrogen," explained a representative from Feadship. "Hydrogen is light. However, safely storing it on a vessel requires a double-walled cryogenic storage tank (a large very well-insulated cooling box in a dedicated room).

"Together, it takes eight to ten times more space to store hydrogen than the energy equivalent in diesel fuel."

Project 821 has a 92-square-metre storage space for hydrogen, and this space, plus the vent stacks for the escaping water vapour (the exhaust of this process), added four metres to the yacht's original specification length. However, in the future, this could be used for easier-to-store methanol, a liquid fuel in ambient conditions.

While Feadship noted that "even a yacht the size of Project 821 cannot carry enough liquid hydrogen to power a crossing," the yard could still minimise the yacht's hotel load emissions, which, according to the Yacht Environmental Transparency Index (YETI), makes up around 70-78 per cent of a yacht's total energy use per year.

Jamie Edmiston, CEO at Edmiston called the project  "the best yacht ever built".  "The brief was to build the greenest and most environmentally advanced yacht ever built, without compromise. The yacht we see today, designed by RWD and built by Feadship, is without doubt the best yacht ever built. I am proud to have been involved since the inception of this idea", he said. 

In terms of power and propulsion, the yacht has two 900kW MTU generators, three 2,500kW MTU generators and 16 185kW PowerCell H2 generators. Key numbers for Project 821 include a 6,500 nautical mile range at 14 knots and a 19-metre beam.

Project 821 will be a valuable stepping stone towards Feadship's pledge to develop "net zero" yachts by 2030. Jan-Bart Verkuyl said that fuel cells will play an important role for yachts in the years to come. "We have now shown that cryogenic storage of liquified hydrogen in the interior of a superyacht is a viable solution. Future innovations on fuel cells and onboard reforming of methanol to hydrogen are on the near horizon."

The suspects, a 15-year-old from Gulf Stream and a 16-year-old from Boynton Beach, are charged with one count each of causing pollution, so as to harm or injure human health or welfare, animal, plant, or aquatic life or property, according to arrest reports filed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, or FWC.

The charge is a third-degree felony and carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $50,000 fine if convicted, according to the arrest report.

NBC News does not generally name minors charged with crimes.

FWC chairman Rodney Barreto said Friday in a statement that "callous disregard for Florida’s environment will not be tolerated."

“This is a teaching moment for all those involved—Florida’s natural resources are precious, and we should all do our part to protect them," he said.

The incident occurred Sunday in the Boca Inlet as the boaters were seen on video headed away from the annual Boca Bash, the FWC said.

The video, which content creator Wavy Boats posted on YouTube, shows two people each dumping a trash bin full of garbage into the ocean.

The driver of the boat, the 15 year old, tossed garbage into the ocean that included plastic water bottles, cans, food bags, plastic cups and other “unidentifiable items,” the arrest report said.

“After he emptied the contents of his basket directly into the water. He is seen holding the basket over his head pumping the basket up and down as if he was celebrating the dumping of the trash into the water,” the arrest report said.

“Throughout the video there is drone footage showing the trash (pollutants) scattered across the surface of the ocean, with the pollutants being dispersed by the rough waves and wind,” according to the arrest report.

The video also shows the 16 year old dump contents of a trash bin into the ocean.

According to the arrest report, an investigator with the FWC went Tuesday to a home of the owner of the registered boat. A man who identified himself as the 15-year-old's father told the investigator they were in the process of retaining legal counsel, the report stated.

“This is not a representation as of who we are,” the father told the investigator, according to the arrest report.

On Wednesday, the investigator spoke by phone to the father of the other suspect, who said they were also seeking legal counsel.

It was not immediately clear Friday night who the teens may have retained to represent them. A representative of the state attorney’s office over Palm Beach County could not be reached for comment.

The FWC also spoke to multiple witnesses on the boat who also identified the suspects, according to the arrest report.

In a statement, the parents of one of the teens involved apologized to everyone impacted and “rightfully upset by what occurred,” and said they are cooperating with authorities.

“We take the responsibility of caring for our oceans and our community very seriously, and we are extremely saddened by what occurred last weekend at Boca Bash,” the statement said.

It said the family agrees “that this is a teaching moment for the young kids involved and they should certainly participate in community service and ocean conservation efforts to deepen their understanding of the importance of our community and environment.”

Boca Bash organizers posted on its Facebook page Tuesday that the actions seen on the video were not representative of the event.

"We do not condone this behavior by any means and are appalled that the passengers even had the audacity to clap at the drone that was filming them dumping their garbage," the statement said. "We hope the repercussions handed down can be viewed publicly as a warning of how important our waters are to us native Floridians."

3 men use 3 trucks to steal 3 boats in Leitchfield

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Leitchfield Police are asking the public’s help in locating three trucks they say three men used to steal three boats on Saturday night, May 4, 2024.

Authorities say at approximately 11:30 p.m., three men entered the enclosed area at Renegade Marine. A few moments later, three trucks sped into the parking lot, and within minutes, the three trucks left with three boats in tow.

The vehicles appear to be a GMC Yukon, a Chevrolet 2500, and a Ford F250. Investigators believe the trucks pulling the trailers traveled east on the Western Kentucky Parkway from Leitchfield.
