The 55m/180'5" motor yacht 'Oceana I' (ex. True Blue) was built by Oceanfast in Australia at their Henderson shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Jon Bannenberg and she was completed in 1991. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Jon Bannenberg and she was last refitted in 2016.

Oceana I has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising one VIP cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 10 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Oceana I is built with a aluminium hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin MTU (16 396TB94) 3,840hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 21 knots with a range of up to 3,000 nautical miles from her 80,000 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. Her low draft of 1.8m/5'11" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 12,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to DNV (Det Norske Veritas) classification society rules, and is MCA Compliant.

Oceanfast Motor Yacht Oceana Back on The Market

Sold in July 2019, the 55 metre superyacht Oceana is back on the market, listed for sale by Peter Bennett at Bluewater .

Delivered in 1991, Oceana was built with an aluminium hull and GRP superstructure by Australian yard Oceanfast to a design by Jon Bannenberg . She has had several refits since, most recently in 2016. Accommodation is for 10-12 guests across five cabins. Her upper deck master suite is kitted out with a private observation lounge boasting panoramic views and a his and her's ensuite.

Exterior spaces on board  Oceana  include private balconies on the port and starboard of the main deck and a beach club-style sun deck equipped with a Jacuzzi.

Her contemporary Bannenberg & Rowell interior combines a tranquil mix of whites accented with muted earth tones.

Her 2016 refit included a complete repaint to her hull and superstructure and a rebuild of her engines and generators, taking her back to zero hours.

Twin 3,480hp MTU diesel engines give her a range of 2,000 nautical miles at 12 knots and a top speed of 20 knots.

Oceana is asking €8,250,000.

55m M/Y ‘Oceana’ listed for sale at €8.9 million

The 1991 oceanfast build, commissioned originally for the sultan of brunei, has been listed for sale with edmiston and burgess.….

Oceana , the 55m motoryacht, has been listed for sale with Edmiston’s Nathan Farrelly and Burgess. She is currently based in the South of France with a price tag of €8.9 million and will be attending the Monaco Yacht Show at the end of this month for inspections.

She was commissioned in 1991 for the Sultan of Brunei and built at Oceanfast’s facility in Fremantle. Formerly known as Obsession and Bolkiah , she was the second largest Australia-built motoryacht by LOA for a 10-year window after her delivery and remains the 12th largest today. The semi-displacement build is constructed with an aluminium hull and a GRP superstructure.

The exterior profiling is a Jon Bannenberg ‘classic’, offering great hosting spaces over what is a fairly narrow beam for a yacht of this length – for every one metre of beam she has 6.11m of length, which is 0.52m longer than the average 52.5 – 57.5m motoryacht. However, the space is utilised very well through the use of multipurpose tender garages that convert into beach club balconies, a large swim platform and a well-judged sun deck arrangement for luxury living.

The interior is light, bright and airy, featuring light wood panelling, burled veneers and Bannenberg’s signature ovoid windows. There is accommodation on board for 10 guests over four double staterooms and one twin stateroom. The owner’s suite has his and her bathrooms, a private study and an observation lounge.

In addition to her meticulous maintenance plan, Oceana had major refits in 1998, 2008 to install her Quantum zero speed stabilisers, and a 2016 refit which saw interior and exterior upgrades, a full paint job and a complete engine and generator overhaul.

Performance-wise, she is able to cruise at 13 knots and reach a maximum speed of 20 knots, powered by her twin MTU 3,480hp engines. Her 83,000 litre fuel capacity is just over 40,000 litres below the average 52.5 – 57.5m motoryacht – this frees up more interior living space and she can still obtain a 3,000 nautical mile range.

Superyacht OCEANA is a 55 meter (180ft) Oceanfast motor yacht which was originally launched in 1991 and has since been refitted in 2008/2009/2016 to a Bannenberg interior design. This luxury yacht is able to accommodate her maximum of 12 charter guests overnight in 5 stateroom cabins, in a 4 double and one twin bed layout.

She offers highlights which include an amazing sundeck with spa pool, ample alfresco dining and relaxing, a recently refitted luxury interior (2008), a 20-knot max speed, a fantastic professional crew and at anchor zero speed stabilizers.

This Oceanfast superyacht is the result of a fantastic Bannenberg Design and was built in 1991. Her current owner refitted her completely over the winter 2008/2009 which gives her an "as new" condition and makes her ideal for a yacht charter vacation.

The interior of yacht Obsession is a reflection of the owner's desires, wishes, and taste. During the refit process, the owners goal was to have a chic vessel with elements of Art Deco but to also stay true to the original design by Bannenberg and the colors of choice were chocolate brown and gold.

OCEANA Specifications

This esthetic refit notably included the extension of the Owner's deck, including new seating arrangements, a new bar was installed on M/Y OCEANA's Sundeck where a Gym was as well added. In addition, there is also new seating areas on the port and starboard side of the main deck's aft. The yacht was fully repainted to a grey hull and white superstructure.

As for the technical side, the engine and water-jets were overhauled with engines hours turned back to zero, new Quantum Zero Speed stabilizers installed, a complete overhaul of the Water makers, Air conditioning, Bow thrusters, Fuel filtration, Oil filtration, Sewage system, and Generators. A good selection of water toys and outdoor entertainment and fun areas completes the yacht charter package.

Hi Amanda We had a fabulous time. Arno and Petra were terrific. They really accommodated all of our needs/interests…. The food was really great - Petra is a great cook, and as you know, Arno has a keen hand for baking bread. I would definitely recommend Obsession for others interested in cruising in this area. The boat is very comfortable and really has the perfect layout, with lots of outdoor space - both covered and exposed to the sun - so you can have what you want. The rooms were all comfortable, with plenty of space for storing clothing/luggage, and the bathrooms were very nice/comfortable as well. My brother had plenty of opportunity to fish and the rest of us had lots of swimming/snorkeling time. All in all, a great trip. My mother was/is very glad we did it. An oral history of Oceana, as told by three of its founders

Oceana was established by a groundbreaking group of foundations – Oak Foundation, Marisla Foundation, Sandler Foundation, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and The Pew Charitable Trusts – at a time when practically no one was doing ocean conservation on a global scale. Twenty years later, Oceana is the largest international organization dedicated solely to ocean conservation, and several of its founders are still active board members. In celebration of Oceana’s anniversary, we caught up with three of Oceana’s founders to find out what drives their passion and why they keep showing up for our oceans, year after year:  

Dr. Kristian Parker  is a trustee of the Oak Foundation and oversees its environment program.

Herbert “Beto” M. Bedolfe, III is executive director of the Marisla Foundation.

James Sandler is in charge of the Sandler Foundation’s environmental giving.  

On falling in love with the ocean

Kristian Parker : I don’t remember an exact moment when I fell in love with the oceans, but let’s just say I was lucky enough to spend time in special places growing up, including the Kona Coast on the Big Island of Hawaii. I spent a lot of time snorkeling, body surfing, and just hanging out at the beach. I was in that sea water so much that I was once asked if I bleached my hair!

When it came time to choose my subject for 10th grade, it seemed a natural fit to combine my love of the biological sciences with the oceans. But it wasn’t until graduate school that I became truly aware of the challenges the oceans are facing.

James Sandler : I developed a deeper connection with the ocean when I started scuba diving. The ability to dive below the surface and spend large amounts of time exploring a world that is so completely foreign to what we experience on land was captivating.

Here I was, swimming with so many beautiful and strange creatures and feeling completely safe. Where else can you find yourself surrounded by wildlife, sometimes creatures the size of a bus (in the case of whale sharks), and just float past, feeling connected and at peace?

Beto Bedolfe : I grew up in a beach town in Southern California and spent a lot of time in the ocean – mainly body surfing, swimming, and some surfing – so that connected me.

In the 1980s I became concerned, then horrified, when I learned that DDT had been dumped off the coast of Los Angeles/Palos Verdes in huge quantities from the 1950s-1970s. That has caused disastrous health and environmental problems for many decades and led to me becoming more active in ocean conservation.

On ocean conservation, then and now

Kristian Parker : When I started working in ocean conservation, it seemed to be a much-neglected field. When Pew came to me to propose the idea of Oceana in 1999, there was less than one-half of one percent of environmental funding going towards the oceans. The idea of conservation was decades old, but for some reason the oceans – aside from the fate of marine mammals, especially whales – was out of sight and out of mind.

Beto Bedolfe : Twenty years ago, there were few ocean conservation organizations in relation to groups working on terrestrial issues. It wasn’t that no one cared, but probably had a lot to do with how big the ocean is and how people thought it could never be ruined.

As the deep problems of overfishing, bycatch, ocean pollution, and underwater habitat destruction became better known, it was obvious that an organization like Oceana would be crucial to restoring ocean health and abundance. It was clear that the problems were tough and complex because they were local, regional, national, and international; this led to Oceana becoming active and effective in many parts of the world.

On Oceana’s secrets to success

James Sandler : There are two things that I believe were instrumental to Oceana’s growth and success. The first is that it was founded by a group of passionate funders who committed to provide three important elements: large, long-term, and flexible general support funding. This gave Oceana’s leadership the freedom to grow the organization and focus on the mission.

It also led to the second important element of Ocean’s success: great leadership. I believe Oceana was able to attract the best possible team by letting them know that they had the resources to create and execute on their strategy. They had the flexibility to grow the organization and create campaigns with few constraints. This culture led to one of the most effective environmental organizations out there. Fortunately, the leadership team and most of these funders are still involved with Oceana and have been able to attract new funders who also understand the power that flexible funding gives to an organization.

Beto Bedolfe : Oceana’s staff, board, and supporters are really the most tireless, generous, and wonderful people in the world. At a time when things are extremely difficult on many fronts – including ocean destruction, climate change, geopolitics, and now the pandemic – I am truly touched by people who do what they can to make the world a better place. And, of course, Oceana is supported by people around the world who understand the gravity of the situation and want to save and restore the ocean for lots of different reasons: beauty, tranquility, environmental sustainability, and even to slow climate change.

There is another reason behind Oceana growing in a good way: Leadership has been great at scanning the horizon for new threats to the oceans or new opportunities. Things have changed in 20 years, with ocean plastics being just one example, and Oceana has always picked up the challenge and been successful.

On making a lasting impact

James Sandler : Every time I attend a board meeting and hear the reports from country leaders, I am floored. Sometimes we hear from a country where the government is amenable to following science and creating regulations that help preserve and enhance their ocean resources. These reports are exciting because I can’t believe how much we are able to get done. Other times we hear from a country where the government is indifferent or hostile to our campaigns. The campaigns in these countries are hard-fought, and the victories can feel incredibly sweet.

I suppose I am just proud to be part of such an impactful organization that brings creativity, professionalism, and persistence to campaigning. Oceana takes chances and works on big problems that impact the quality of life for millions of people and, in some cases, has completely transformed the management practices of a country’s ocean resources upon which much of the country depends for food and livelihood.

Kristian Parker : The oceans remain a source of food for many people around the world. The idea that Oceana could champion ocean biodiversity and its role in feeding vulnerable populations is a powerful one. With climate change bearing down on us, we must see the oceans as a lifeline for those in need, not a source of luxury seafood. We must give precedence to sustainable small-scale fisheries over the destructive industrial players, especially if they are focused on mining the seas to supply fancy sushi restaurants.

It has been a tremendous joy to participate as an Oceana board member over the last 15 years. The decisions we made really mattered. Whether it was an on-the-spot decision to campaign against coal plants on the coast of Chile, or a referendum to ban offshore oil in Belize, to witness Oceana staff go from a board decision to significant victories is something to behold.

Offered by DMA Yachting, the breathtaking charter yacht OCEANA 48 is a 49 ft sailing catamaran. OCEANA 48 spends the summer and winter season in British Virgin Islands. She was constructed by the renowned boatbuilder Bali Catamarans in 2021. The ingenious yacht layout features 4 large cabins and comfortably accommodates a group of 8 guests.

OCEANA 48 is classified primarily as a sailing catamaran. The the core layout is spread out from the main saloon, which connects to the aft deck. The aft deck features a variety of seating areas and that's where most of the meals are served. The immersive cabins offer unbeatable views in the morning and are located just below deck. The cabins are located in the 2 massive hulls. Multiple portholes connect you with the outside world.

The sailboat features 2x57HP Yanmar 13.5Kw Onan Generator engines and a generator.

Even as a young child he was passionate about watersports, fishing and outdoor activities. After he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration in Milan, he traveled to Australia to work in hospitality at the famous Sydney Opera House, he also lived in Hong Kong for 4 months while interning for a digital start-up. In 2017 he found himself back in Italy and decided to spend more time on the water and thus started working for The Yacht Week, a popular flotilla company that operates in the Mediterranean but also in other locations like BVI, Martinique and Tahiti. Starting as a Skipper and moving quickly to higher positions such as Lead Skipper and Route Manager. For 2 years he also held the role of Instructor for Quarterdeck, a company that trains and mentors professional skippers. In the 6 years he worked for Quarterdeck and The Yacht Week, he completed more than 80 charters in several locations around the Mediterranean and abroad, covering more than 100,000 nautical miles. When not on the water, he also likes to drive motorbikes. One of his most memorable trips was in India driving through the highest motorable pass in the world at +5.000 meters of altitude. Even as a young child he was passionate about watersports, fishing and outdoor activities. After he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration in Milan, he traveled to Australia to work in hospitality at the famous Sydney Opera House, he also lived in Hong Kong for 4 months while interning for a digital start-up.<br /> <br /> In 2017 he found himself back in Italy and decided to spend more time on the water and thus started working for The Yacht Week, a popular flotilla company that operates in the Mediterranean but also in other locations like BVI, Martinique and Tahiti. Starting as a Skipper and moving quickly to higher positions such as Lead Skipper and Route Manager. For 2 years he also held the role of Instructor for Quarterdeck, a company that trains and mentors professional skippers.<br /> <br /> In the 6 years he worked for Quarterdeck and The Yacht Week, he completed more than 80 charters in several locations around the Mediterranean and abroad, covering more than 100,000 nautical miles.<br /> <br /> When not on the water, he also likes to drive motorbikes. One of his most memorable trips was in India driving through the highest motorable pass in the world at +5.000 meters of altitude.<br /> <br /> JUDITH <br /> <br /> Judith was born and raised in The Netherlands. As a child she was always on the water and spent her summers windsurfing as a hobby. Apart from her sporty side, she loves to cook and make people at comfort. She has always been comfortable in the kitchen which led to her study at an international hospitality school in the south of The Netherlands. About OCEAN 1 Yachts

Built with a passion for perfection and performance, a rhib renaissance.

OCEAN 1 Yachts is the brainchild of superyacht Captain Dean Maggio. Over his nearly 30 years of sailing and yachting experiences, he recognized there was a large gap in the yacht tender market. While many of yachting’s top RHIB models possessed good qualities, none of them addressed the full spectrum of requirements a luxury yacht program demanded.

After years of frustration, Dean decided to conceptualize his ideal yacht tender. Once his designs were finalized, he partnered with longtime friend and founder of Yellowfin Yachts, Wylie Nagler. Together they designed a tender combining all the attributes and luxuries Dean sought with the proven sportfish hull of a Yellowfin, and created the ultimate RHIB.

The Perfect Tender

Venturing into the world of yacht tender production

That concept became a reality and Yellowfin Custom Yacht Tenders was launched. With over a dozen 40’ models delivered, the custom yacht tender division was a success. However, it hindered the production times of Yellowfin’s core center console business. When faced with extending the RHIB delivery time to over 18 months, Dean knew it was time to start on his own. The two amicably parted ways and Dean launched his new line of yacht tenders called Ocean 1.

Dean brought his designs to his new facility in north Sarasota, hand-picked a skilled crew of craftsmen and began production of OCEAN 1 Yachts.

Our Founder

Dean Maggio

With nearly 30 years of sailing and yachting experience, Dean Maggio has spent much of his adult life at the helm of some of the most spectacular ships in the world. Growing up on a boat in Biscayne Bay certainly laid the foundation for his exciting career on the water. Since graduating from Maine Maritime Academy with an unlimited merchant marine license, his life has been an endless adventure ever since.

Professionally, the past 27 years have been spent racing world-class sailing yachts, and captaining a series of highly successful charter yachts. For more than a decade Dean has been the captain of the 170’ schooner Meteor. He was originally the ‘’build’’ captain for Meteor from inception in 2005, overseeing all aspects of the Dutch built vessel, until her launch in 2007.
