Yacht Transport Options

Allied Ocean Transport

Founded upon established relationships with repeat yacht transport customers, US-based Allied Ocean Transport is now offering a unique solution for safe, reliable, and cost-effective yacht shipping and associated logistics services for yachts any size and weight worldwide.

As boat owners with offshore charter experience, Capt. Justin Royal and Allen Davis were first introduced to yacht transport when Royal shipped his 36-foot Luhrs from Port Everglades, Florida, to Costa Rica. The pair made the trip to Golfito in December 2018 to take delivery of the boat, then ran up the coast of Costa Rica to Marina Pez Vela in Quepos on the way to the boat’s new home in Guatemala. That night in Quepos, the team decided to look into the yacht transport business.

After more than 30 years developing new startups in multiple sectors, Davis was looking for something new. After working and fishing for many years with Royal, who has extensive maritime experience, pursuing a new opportunity involving boats, oceans, and ships provided a good opportunity, and the concept of combining experiences and abilities was good place to start. After returning from that first adventure, they reached out to Vadim Yegudkin, a well-known yacht transport veteran with whom Royal had booked the transport of his boat to Central America. Shortly after that initial contact, their plans began to crystallize, and in October 2019, the trio formed Allied Ocean Transport. In August 2020 they took delivery of their first transport ship, St. Georg , in Tampa, Florida, and made their first westbound trip from Palm Beach to Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico and eventually to Victoria, British Columbia. The experience gained by being directly responsible for all aspects of sailings from bookings to port call logistics and documentation to operations provided the management team with the expertise required to coordinate and manage all aspects of a successful yacht transport sailing.

Since August of 2020, Allied Ocean has successfully completed 13 sailings, managed operations in 11 different ports in five countries, transported more than 200 yachts and vessels, and generated more than $8 million in revenues. The Allied Ocean corporate management team is the only vertically experienced professional yacht transport team in North America. In addition, they have designed and manufactured custom steel shipping cradles specially designed for yacht transport and purchased loading and lashing equipment sufficient to fully equip two yacht transport ships.

Since 2021, international shipping has been substantially impacted by supply and demand related changes causing a dramatic increase in shipping rates and decreasing the availability of ships, which has dramatically affected the yacht transport sector. Worldwide demand for the 5,543 multi-purpose ships repurposed to support the growing number of cargo opportunities and historically high shipping rates has limited the number of ships available for yacht transport in North America and internationally. Traditionally, North American providers have transported yachts through one-off voyages by chartering ship deck space based upon unused cargo space and cargo schedules. While the yacht transport sector is experiencing ever-increasing demand, substantial increases in worldwide freight rates have significantly reduced opportunities to charter space on ship decks for yacht transport. One-off voyage charters for yacht transport have never been a sustainable solution and are now even less predictable. As a result, the number of ships available for charter is limited, charter rates are at all-time highs, and sailing schedules are driven by cargo commitments and not based upon the needs of yacht transport providers. Building on their extensive foundation to meet market demand with a sustainable solution, the Allied Ocean management team is introducing Ship Share.

Allied Ocean Ship Share is the optimal yacht transport solution for dealers, brokers, or owners who transport yachts and appreciate the benefits of owning an interest in the transport ship; the program is designed to exclusively support Allied Ocean customers in North America, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean. Ship Share owner benefits include reserved space on Allied Ocean ships, predictable yacht transport expenses, and regular sailing schedules. Ship Share protects owners from being affected by fluctuations in international shipping rates and unpredictable schedules when transporting their yachts to their preferred international ports of call.

Current offerings available to strategic investors include equity, preferred debt, and ownership interest in two yacht transport ships in service to exclusively provide yacht transport to customers in North America, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean. Allied Ship Share

Georgia-based Allied Ocean Transport, which specializes in yacht transport, has a new program called Ship Share that’s exclusive to its customers in North America, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

Program participants get reserved space on Allied Ocean ships, predictable yacht-transport expenses and regular sailing schedules.

The program protects owners from fluctuations in international shipping rates and changing schedules.

Allen Davis, president and CEO of Allied Ocean, says: “We are pleased to announce our Ship Share Program, which enables Allied Ocean to continue to provide our customers with the best service and most cost-effective option available to relocate their yachts and other vessels to new locations.”

Amels 60 For Charter - Entourage

Integrity and the relentless pursuit of the deal defines Moran Yacht & Ship - I am grateful that you were on this journey with me. This magical machine KISMET is the second yacht I’ve had built with Moran Yacht & Ship. KISMET has brought joy, hope, and the gift of discovery to many lives - including my own. You have made this world a better place! Owner, KISMET
By way of background, my business interests include controlling stakes in 3 publicly traded companies which operate vessels in the 500 to 5000dwt range. On average, one new vessel a year would be added to the fleet. As a result, I have access to in-house marine architects, engineers and construction supervisors. Consequently, when I decided to build my first large motor yacht, I did not feel I needed the services of a company like Moran Yacht & Ship. In any event, I was persuaded to let them negotiate on my behalf while I simultaneously held discussions with other building options. Moran Yacht & Ship understands yachts, their incredibly complex systems, and what constitutes a practical solution to various owners’ ideas. In short, I would not consider building another yacht without engaging Moran Yacht & Ship to provide the services they are so good in delivering. Former Owner, NORTHERN STAR

The E-Boat Was Germany's Swift and Deadly Attack Boat of the Second World War

Posted: June 13, 2024 | Last updated: June 14, 2024

The Schnellboot - or S-Boot - was a German fast attack craft that served with the Kriegsmarine during the Second World War. It was referred to as the "E-boat" by the British, with the "E" standing for "enemy." This became the designation used by all Allied nations. The vessel's design evolved over the course of the conflict, with the S-100 class, the final evolution, being produced the most.

The E-Boat Was Germany’s Swift and Deadly Attack Boat of the Second World War

The Schnellboot , widely known as the S-Boot, was a swift German attack vessel that served in the Kriegsmarine during the Second World War. The British referred to it as the "E-boat," with the "E" standing for "enemy," a term that was universally adopted by Allied forces. Over the course of the war, the vessel's design was continually improved, culminating in the S-100 class, which marked the peak of its development.

The E-boat was designed with a European war in mind. Expected to see action in the English Channel, North Sea and coastal regions, it needed to perform in rough waters. This led its design to feature a round-bottomed hull, instead of a typical flat-bottomed design. It also allowed the Germans to easily circumvent the Treaty of Versailles, which regulated large fighting ships.

The E-boat actually began life as the private yacht, Oheka II. Shipbuilding company Lürssen was contracted to produce a yacht for German-born American investment banker, Otto Hermann Kahn. The design caught the attention of the Reichsmarine, which ordered a fast attack craft with a similar design and the addition of two torpedo tubes. This became the S-1.

From yacht to E-boat

The E-boat was specifically designed with the prospect of a potential European conflict in mind. Intended for use in the English Channel, North Sea, and coastal regions, it needed to navigate turbulent waters effectively. To achieve this, its design departed from the conventional flat-bottomed approach, opting instead for a round-bottomed hull. This strategic design choice not only ensured superior performance but also allowed the Germans to easily circumvent the Treaty of Versailles , which regulated large fighting ships.

The origins of the E-boat can be traced back to the private yacht, Oheka II. Lürssen, a prominent shipbuilding company, was commissioned to construct a yacht for Otto Hermann Kahn, a German-born American investment banker. The design attracted the interest of the Reichsmarine , leading them to commission a swift attack craft based on the same design, with the addition of two torpedo tubes. Thus, the S-1 was born.

Tests were conducted with the S-1, which resulted in various improvements made to the design. In 1931, the S-2 class became the first production model of the E-boat. These were also the first to experience combat when they were transferred to the Spanish Francoist Navy during the Spanish Civil War.

In 1933, the S-7 class was created, with seven boats produced, three of which were sold to China. The S-14, with its longer hull, was developed the following year, followed by the S-18 in 1937. The S-26 was the first wartime model to be produced, and it entered service in 1940. This version of the E-boat featured a forward deck covering the two torpedo tubes.

The S-30 and S-38 classes followed, along with an armored type that boasted an armored bridge, as well as armament comprised of either 40 mm Bofors or 20 mm Flak anti-aircraft guns at the stern and an MG 34 Zwillingsockel at midships.

The S-100 was introduced in 1943 and was the most-produced E-boat of World War II, with 81 manufactured. The Type 700 was developed before the end of the conflict. It featured rear-facing torpedo tubes, in addition to forward facing ones, but retained the overall design of the S-100.

Several variants were developed

Tests were conducted with the S-1 , which resulted in various improvements made to the design. In 1931, the S-2 class became the first production model of the E-boat. These were also the first to experience combat when they were transferred to the Spanish Francoist Navy during the Spanish Civil War .

In 1933, the S-7 class was created, with seven boats produced, three of which were sold to China. The S-14 , with its longer hull, was developed the following year, followed by the S-18 in 1937.

The S-100 was introduced in 1943 and was the most-produced E-boat of World War II , with 81 manufactured. The Type 700 was developed before the end of the conflict. It featured rear-facing torpedo tubes, in addition to forward facing ones, but retained the overall design of the S-100.

The E-boat’s hull was constructed of a metal frame and wood planks, which reduced weight for maximized speed. The S-100 class was 114.6 feet long, with a beam of 17.3 feet and a draught of 5.6 feet. The standard weight was 78.9 tons, with a maximum of 100 tons.

The E-boat design featured two small rudders on either side of the main. These could be angled outboard up to 30 degrees, which drew in an “air pocket slightly behind the three propellers, increasing their efficiency, reducing the stern wave and keeping the boat at a nearly horizontal attitude.” This was known as the Lürssen Effect. It ultimately lifted the stern of the vessel, allowing for greater speed while reducing the stern wave produced, making the E-boat harder to see.

The S-100 was powered by three Daimler Benz MB 501 marine diesel engines, which produced 3,960 brake horsepower. The E-boat had a range of 800 nautical miles at 30 knots and a maximum of 43.8 knots. It also carried a range of armament. Two 21-inch forward-facing torpedo tubes were located on either side of the bow, with four torpedoes stored onboard. It was also armed with three 20 mm C/30 cannons and one 37 mm Flak 42 cannon.

Coordinates of Elektrostal in decimal degrees

Coordinates of elektrostal in degrees and decimal minutes, utm coordinates of elektrostal, geographic coordinate systems.

WGS 84 coordinate reference system is the latest revision of the World Geodetic System, which is used in mapping and navigation, including GPS satellite navigation system (the Global Positioning System).

Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) define a position on the Earth’s surface. Coordinates are angular units. The canonical form of latitude and longitude representation uses degrees (°), minutes (′), and seconds (″). GPS systems widely use coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or in decimal degrees.

Latitude varies from −90° to 90°. The latitude of the Equator is 0°; the latitude of the South Pole is −90°; the latitude of the North Pole is 90°. Positive latitude values correspond to the geographic locations north of the Equator (abbrev. N). Negative latitude values correspond to the geographic locations south of the Equator (abbrev. S).

Longitude is counted from the prime meridian ( IERS Reference Meridian for WGS 84) and varies from −180° to 180°. Positive longitude values correspond to the geographic locations east of the prime meridian (abbrev. E). Negative longitude values correspond to the geographic locations west of the prime meridian (abbrev. W).

UTM or Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system divides the Earth’s surface into 60 longitudinal zones. The coordinates of a location within each zone are defined as a planar coordinate pair related to the intersection of the equator and the zone’s central meridian, and measured in meters.

Elevation above sea level is a measure of a geographic location’s height. We are using the global digital elevation model GTOPO30 .
