Boat handling competitions and demonstrations to member clubs are also on offer at the ATYC. These usually take place at one of our rallies but can also be held at a member club or one of their events.

Thames Yacht Club

The Thames Yacht Club is a mooring-only marina for both power and sailboats, right on the Thames River in New London, CT. Visitors can unwind with plenty of areas to cruise to, like the Long Island Sound, Fisher’s Island, and Niantic Bay! The Club can accommodate vessels 50ft or less, and have overnight pricing of $1.50/ft.
Founded in 1933, the Thames Yacht Club embraces a community with a deep love for boating and yachting. Boaters at the marina love the rich maritime history that envelops the coastal town of New London. Renowned as one of the best places to eat, stay and play in the New England area! Local families and visitors alike will appreciate the Yacht Club’s amenities such as accessible beaches, a floating dock, event space, restrooms, showers, grill area, and an on-site restaurant. The marina is open 9 am - 9 pm while boaters can eat up at the restaurant, 11 am - 7 pm. To get the absolute most out of New London, the Thames River, and the surrounding environment, look no further than the Thames Yacht Club!

Our club, located in New London, CT was established in 1932 on the principles of friendship and a deep love of yachting. We offer wonderful sailing instruction , racing, cruising and more, all located in the best sailing area of New England.
We are committed to having members that reflect the diverse communities that make up our region. We do not discriminate on the basis of age, color, disability, ethnic identity, gender identity, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or veteran status, in our membership or activities.
We foster a community of individuals and families brought together by our enjoyment of boats and the beach, as Senior or Small Boat/Beach Members.
