With an interior to die for and sparkling performance, the Princess 68 looks to be the whole package

On the face of it, the Princess 68 looks like another perfectly rounded, effortlessly capable if somewhat straight-laced flybridge. The exterior is handsome and timeless, typically restrained and likely to still look fresh in a quarter of a century.

Inside, though, the designers have added some real sparkle – not just through the detailing and quality of the fit-out but in the layout itself.

The saloon will blow you away with how spacious and open it is, not to mention the sheer size of the glass area in this main living space.

The central lounging area is the perfect focal point for entertaining and your galley is located aft, just inside the sliding doors.

When it’s time for bed you can nip down your private access stairway to the spectacular master cabin with the jaw-dropping, one-piece hull windows.

Okay, Prestige has been doing this sort of thing for a while on much smaller boats than this but Princess’ execution of this layout is right on the money. So far, so Princess but what is she like on the water?

Performance

The MAN’s really are monstrous power plants, thrusting you back into your seat even when you accelerate from 30 knots.

And who knows how they do it but the handling and steering for a boat of these dimensions and weight is absolutely sublime.

Downsides? It has to be said that in what wasn’t a particularly fierce chop the ride was a bit fidgety (to use a hackneyed motoring journo term) and there were a few too many squeaks emanating from the furniture.

Slightly disappointing but then that is the pay off such vast amounts of space. The 68 is broad, beamy and tall, which is why the interior is so cavernous and room on board is exactly what customers want.

ABOUT THE 68 Motor Yacht

The Princess 68 is a 69-foot luxury flybridge motor yacht that was launched in 2014 and remains in production to this day. A Bernard Olesinski-designed hull in resin-infused fiberglass is paired with a sleek superstructure for a yacht that is as seaworthy as it is stylish.

The hard-top, teak-lined flybridge features a retractable electric sunroof and an open aspect to the rear with room for a three-seater sunpad, as well a sprawling seating area to starboard with a central, U-shaped leather sofa and an L-shaped snug seat. There is also room up top for a walk-in wet-bar featuring an electric lava-brick grill and icemaker, and two helm seats to port. A large aft-deck with a transom sofa and a swimming platform with hydraulic passarelle will greet you as you make your way downstairs, while at the foredeck there is a large Portuguese Bridge-style sofa paired with a five-pad modular sunbed for marina-facing sunbathing and socializing.

Step indoors through triple-sliding glass doors to rear and you will find an aft-positioned kitchen galley with marble or Avonite worktops and a four-zone ceramic hob, convection oven and fridge freezer, large enough to prepare your Cordon Bleu-inspired gourmet meals. Below deck the amidship master stateroom benefits from private stair access to give the impression of a truly secluded hideaway. The room is full-beam and features single-pane picture windows to port and starboard for plenty of natural light and views over the water’s rippling surface. Large enough to accommodate a king-sized island bed, a loveseat and dressing table with vanity mirror, the master stateroom also comes with two closets and a lavish ensuite with walk-in shower, marble tops and Venetian mosaic panelling. Two twin berths, a main head and an ensuite master V-berth to bow provide sleeping space for up to 8 overnight guests, while a separate crew quarters accessible via a transom door is equipped with twin bed.

Top speeds of around 34 knots are delivered courtesy of dual Caterpillar C18A or dual MAN V12 engines with up to 2800MHP available, while the yacht boasts an ocean-going range of around 1,500 nautical miles at reasonable cruising speeds of 10 knots. Variable speed hydraulic bow and stern thrusters provide extra agility while steering into marina settings, while electro-hydraulic trim tabs and a Seakeeper 16 gyro stabilizer keeps your vessel well balanced even when traversing open waters.

Introducing the new Princess 68 flybridge

In the Autumn of this year, the P68 will arrive and rewrite the rule book on flybridge luxury, space and performance. Fitting into the Princess flybridge range, between the 64 and 72 Motor Yacht, the 68 enjoys the highest level of internal volume ever created by Princess for a given length, delivering four class leading cabins, a vast deck saloon and a flybridge and twin cockpits that will be the envy of many a 75ft vessel.

But aside from the simple virtue of space, the 68 will also come packed with features, many of which are a first for a yacht of this size.

Across the main deck level, a galley aft layout allows dining options inside and out, being perfectly placed to serve the cockpit. The synergy between interior and deck is further enhanced by an electric window that turns the aft galley counter-top into a serving bar for the cockpit. A small step up from the inside dining area, the deck saloon enjoys incredible views from the full height side windows, while ahead the helm position is joined by a raised L-shape seating to port, so friends and family can all be involved when underway.

The 68’s master stateroom features a private stairwell and lobby, the guest cabins being accessed by a separate stairwell forward. This unique design creates a real sense of motor yacht sophistication for the owner as well as total privacy for those onboard.

On deck, the aft cockpit is designed to be the main dining area and comes suitably dressed with mood lighting, beautifully upholstered seating for eight and a large teak table. After dinner you might choose to retreat to the bathing platform where an aft-facing twin seat is set into the transom.

At the bow, a walk-through foredeck comes complete with an elegant seating area, large sunpad and plenty of stowage. The flybridge above boasts vast sections of seating with the ability to seat five people across the helm area, a full wetbar to keep everyone refreshed; and the added ability to convert the forward seating into a large sunpad.

Out at sea, the Princess 68 promises to deliver another classically refined driving experience with superb poise all the way up to a top speed in excess of 30 knots, with fast efficient cruising above 20 knots. The hull’s variable underwater geometry is designed to return smooth progress over the waves, the resin-infused composite build method creating a structure that is lightweight but immensely strong, allowing for greater fuel efficiency without sacrificing speed.

• Private access to the owner’s stateroom: The full beam owner’s stateroom is accessed from its own private stairwell running off the deck saloon. The stateroom includes a full en suite and dressing area with vast hull-side windows for the most dramatic views and a sofa to watch it all from in complete comfort. A stateroom lobby houses a washer/dryer with space for an additional dryer.
• Three large guest cabin: Guests will enjoy three further cabins, two en-suite, plus a generous crew quarters. The stairwell to the guest quarters hinges up to give access to a huge storage space, ideal for stowing luggage.
• Incredible social areas: Two separate seating areas are designed into the deck saloon with a further two areas on the vast flybridge which comes with the option of a hardtop with integral sunroof. A high specification aft cockpit comes with surround seating, speakers, bar access from the galley and a wonderful transom seat for the most magical evenings at anchor.
• Galley aft doubles your social options: The galley aft layout delivers some wonderfully flexible dining options with seating and tables opposite the galley and out in the cockpit. The galley’s aft window also opens up at the touch of a button to create a bar area for the cockpit.
• Commanding helm position: The 68 will feature a uniquely social and usable helm area, with the driving and navigation positions to starboard, and, at the same height, another L-shape guest area to port. The commanding helm position will also offer a door to the starboard side deck.
• Walk-through foredeck: The walk-through foredeck has proved a massively popular feature with owners, offering a private retreat when in harbour or a thrilling vantage point when at sea. The 68 takes this innovative area and turns it into the most detailed foredeck entertaining area yet with seating, sunpads and huge storage lockers for all your day boating needs.
• Window area: Following our incredible developments in the use of glass, the 68 will include vast glass sections to the deck saloon, master cabin and forward VIP. In the master cabin alone the windows will measure over 1.6m2.
• Internal volume: The 68 will offer the highest level of internal volume per square foot of any Princess yet built.
• Performance: Fitted with twin diesel engines of up to 1400hp, speeds up to 32-34 knots are expected with fast efficient cruising in the mid-twenties.

For Sale: Princess Yachts F55

The Princess Yachts’ F55 is a flybridge cruiser focused on entertaining, space efficiency and sporty performance. It’s the second-largest model in the builder’s F Class behind the flagship F65. Impulse Power is a 2020 F55 listed with HMY Yacht Sales and has an asking price of $1.9 million.

The F55 is designed by the Princess Design Studio in collaboration with British naval architect Bernard Olesinski, Yachting previously reported .

Outdoor spaces aboard this 55-footer include a foredeck terrace with booth seating and sun pads. Side decks with high rails create safe passage from the foredeck to the cockpit where guests can enjoy alfresco dining at the U-shaped transom bench seat and folding high-gloss teak table.

Stairs to port lead to the flybridge, which has the fiberglass hardtop and with a three-sided enclosure on the forward half. The two-seat helm station sits to port, adjacent to an L-shaped sofa for guests enjoying the view en route to the next waypoint. The after section of the flybridge has a U-shaped sofa and a high-gloss wood folding table, making it a great spot to enjoy lunch with a view.

Impulse Power ’s aft-galley layout is a design choice that reinforces the yacht’s focus on entertaining. The 55-footer’s galley can easily serve guests in the salon and the cockpit. In the cockpit, a bar to port shares its countertop with the galley when the window is open. The F55’s galley is equipped with an array of appliances, including:

• 4-zone ceramic hob
• Combination microwave/convection oven with grill
• Stainless-steel sink with mixer tap
• Full height fridge/freezer

Forward from the galley and up two steps is the amidships lounge. Seating around the salon is positioned to help maximize views out of the nearly 360 degrees of glass. There is a U-shaped sofa to port with a high-gloss dining table. A two-person sofa is to starboard, which hides a 49-inch flat-screen TV, in case you need to catch the big game while you’re enjoying a weekend cruise with the family.

At the two-seat helm station, there’s a full electronics suite, fuel gauges, exhaust temperature and engine warning system, and rudder- position indicator. The navigation system includes VHF/RT, speed and distance log, an echo sounder with alarm, autopilot and a high-speed magnetic compass. There are also joystick controls, bow thruster, windscreen wipers, bilge-pump controls and trim tab indicators.

Belowdecks, all staterooms benefit from amplified hullside windows that enhance the sense of space. The full-beam (16′) amidships master stateroom has a double berth, en suite head, private dinette and a flat-screen TV. The forepeak VIP also has a double berth and en suite head. The final guest stateroom has single berths that convert to a double.

Powered with twin 900 hp Volvo Penta D13-900 diesels, Impulse Power has a reported 33-knot top hop and a cruise speed of 22 to 23 knots.
