The Dufour 41 yacht offers a total of 4 different layouts, with 3 or 4 cabins, and either a longitudinal galley or a forward galley… Luca Ardizio brings a revisited version of the forward galley, fully in keeping with Dufour’s DNA. The longitudinal galley retains plenty of storage space and a large work surface.

Smoother circulation for greater conviviality and ease under way

In keeping with Dufour’s DNA, the deck layout has been designed to give you a smooth sailing experience that’s full of sensations. The area between the helm station and the two winches has been enlarged to make sail manoeuvring easier. At anchor, you’ll be able to move freely around the plancha grill, thanks to the double access from the platform, which has also been enlarged.

Compass Rose (Rosie) was hauled in June 2019 and for 2 years completely refitted from stem to stern. Never damaged or a salvage vessel! $300,000 was spent on this beautiful yacht.The entire hull, deck and topsides were stripped and repainted with AwlGrip.Bottom was stripped to the substrate, 3 coats of interlux interprotect and 3 coats of micron extra. Teak decking was stripped including the seams and recaulked with teak decking systems teak caulk. All brightwork coated with 4 coats of conversion spar varnish. All port lights were removed and rebed. All 3 deck hatches replaced.

The overall condition of this boat is very good. The Port side Pod has been rebuilt, and the Starboard side has been replaced. So, both are in excellent condition, and ready to go. There is some minor coxmetic damage on the strarboard corner of the swim platform.. This is mostly a freshwater boat. 1976 Islander 44 Silvergirl is a classic Bill Lapworth design that was launched in 1976 and is perfect for long weekends in Catalina or on an extended cruise.  This second owner has done many upgrades to the boat including a total rewire of all electrical including a new electrical panel, new inverter/charger, new LED interior lighting and batteries.  In 2008 the mast and standing rigging were overhauled and compliment an efficient 838 sq. ft. sail plan that features a Doyle Stakpac mainsail and a new roller furling 130% genoa that were added in 2015 which makes shorthanded sailing a breeze.  The Perkins diesel engine was extensively rebuilt in 2009 and currently shows approximately 449 hours. Silvergirl is set up for cruising and could be the perfect liveaboard with the addition of some nice interior touches.

A Gem in New England

Wellington Yacht Partners has listed the 56-foot Narwhal for sale at an asking price of $275,000.

The boat is lying in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, for onboard tours with a broker. Wellington Yacht Partners is based in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, with an additional office in Florida.

Built in 1987, Narwhal is a Staysail Schooner that has two staterooms and two heads, with the ability to accommodate a total of six people overnight. According to the brokerage house, the design—a clipper bow with a bowsprit, a schooner rig, low freeboard and raised bulwarks aft, along with varnished teak cabin trunk sides—is reminiscent of L. Francis Herreshoff’s Ticonderoga , as interpreted by John Cherubini.

“She is a proven performer in near coastal waters, on the racecourse and crossing oceans,” the brokerage house states. “Her combination of shoal draft, spirited performance, a well- balanced helm and easy sail handling, along with drop-dead gorgeous lines, make her a true standout.”

Narwhal has an aristo blue hull with a wide white shear stripe, matching single white boot stripe and red bottom. Her cabin top and decks are painted moondust nonslip with gloss white waterways. Bright-teak varnish is on the cabin house sides with teak eyebrows, trim, handrails, toe rails and cockpit helm seating. The boat’s spars are painted to match the nonslip decks, and the canvas is off-white.

Belowdecks is mahogany joinery with raised-panel bulkheads and hull ceilings painted white in Herreshoff style for a classic interior ambience.

At the transom for use as auxiliary power is a 115 hp Yanmar 4Jh4-HTE1 diesel from 2013. This engine reportedly has about 400 hours of use on it.

According to the brokerage house, Narwhal has cruised both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, but in recent times has been based along the U.S. East Coast. For the past seven years, this yacht has seen only seasonal use in New England, with indoor heated storage as the norm during the off-season, and professional service as needed by Niemec Marine of New Bedford and The Concordia Company of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Has Narwhal had any refits over the years ? Yes, there was a big refit by the present owner in 2013-14, according to the brokerage house. That refit included the installation of a new Yanmar diesel, refrigeration, air conditioning and a new electrical system with all new wiring and chargers.
