The large interior easily accommodates up to 12 guests in 5 ensuite staterooms, including an on-deck master featuring a walkthrough closet and his & her bathrooms. Crew accommodations for up to 8 in 5 staterooms with a large sitting area/dinette adjacent to the lower galley.

Retrofitted with 3 Seakeeper 35 gyros for at-rest stabilization, as well as traditional ABT Trac stabilizers while underway, she is extremely stable in all sea conditions.

Walkthrough

Starting on the aft deck which features forward-facing u-shaped seating along with three swivel/rocking chairs surrounding a very elaborate, custom teak table. Forward of this is the alfresco dining and a stand-up bar to starboard. Aft of this area is a massive sun pad, an occasional table with chairs, and access port and starboard to the swim platform.

Forward to port is the wide, gradual staircase leading to the flybridge. Aft on this deck are four chaise loungers offering incredible views. Just forward and centerline is the large hot tub. Further forward are two oversized chairs with ottomans. The covered section of this deck features two large couches facing each other and divided by custom teak high-lo tables for casual meals. Forward is a large TV, making this a great social area. To starboard is the gym area with a treadmill, free weights, etc. The wind protects this deck via a sliding glass wall forward and when opened, leads to a wet bar to port, three Gaggenau grills to starboard, and the upper helm stations port and starboard.

Enter the salon from the glass sliding doors aft which open to give a great flow between the salon and aft deck. Two large couches and two occasional chairs form a pleasant gathering spot around the coffee table. To starboard, a large 55” TV is nicely concealed in the wet bar's front facia, which features a sink, refrigerator, and glass-doored wine cooler. There is a game table in this area as well. Forward is the formal dining for 10, with floor-to-ceiling windows port and starboard looking out to large fold-out balconies.

To port is a doorway leading to the stew pantry and crew area. To starboard is the door leading to the entrance foyer, stairs to the lower guest accommodations, and the on-deck master. This stateroom features a large walkthrough closet, king bed, and true his & her heads. The lower guest accommodations offer four ensuite staterooms consisting of two queen bedrooms aft and two twin bedrooms forward which can both convert to kings. There are Pullmans in each of these rooms.

An ultra-luxury cruise line wants to attract wealthy Americans with its all-inclusive 'yachts' — see what the new 128-guest ship will be like

• Ultra-luxury cruise line  Emerald Cruises says its third ocean ship will debut in 2026.
• The all-inclusive vessel, which Emerald calls a "yacht," would accommodate up to 128 people.
• Emerald, known for river cruises, has been investing more in its ocean-based business.

Over the last few years, the mass-market cruise industry's larger-than-life mega-ships — outfitted with loud waterparks and more dining options than you could eat in a week — have dominated the spotlight.

But in the ultra-luxury cruise market, it's been the opposite. The smaller and more exclusive the vessel, the better. So much so that Emerald Cruises' next ocean-based ship, launching in 2026, plans to accommodate no more than 128 travelers.

It's a far cry from Royal Caribbean's new 7,600-guest cruise liner . And the price difference is just as steep: almost $250 per night on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas versus more than $720 per night on the upcoming ultra-luxury Emerald Kaia.

"When people think of cruising now, they automatically think of these large ships ," Robert Castro, the vice president of marketing for Scenic Group, Emerald's parent company, told Business Insider. "There's a market for that, but we're in a unique position."

If you’re familiar with river cruises, Emerald might ring a bell.

The cruise line, owned by Scenic Group, only offered river cruises for its first nine years.

But lately, its biggest growth and investments have been in oceans, not rivers.

In 2022 and 2023, the Switzerland-based company launched its first two ocean cruise ships, which it calls "yachts." Each accommodates a maximum of 100 guests . And so far, they've been hits, with the cruise line experiencing record-high bookings in 2023.

Yes, the ships look like yachts. And yes, they're marketed as such.

But because Emerald's vessels operate group itineraries, they still technically count as cruise ships, albeit really nice ones.

So instead of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars a week to charter a yacht, as is traditional with these high-end vessels , travelers can spend less than $800 a day for a traditional cruise on said yacht-like ship.

While it's not nearly as exclusive, it sure is a hell of a lot cheaper, "bringing the charter yacht experience to reach for people who would never even imagine," Castro said.

Emerald’s upcoming 393-foot-long, 128-guest Kaia would be perfect for fans of small, high-end ships.

The 64-cabin Emerald Kaia would have a larger guest capacity than its two predecessors but would still be tiny compared to most cruise ships, including some of the most luxurious ones.

Regent Seven Seas' new Grandeur can accommodate 746 guests, while Ritz-Carlton says its next ship will sail up to 448 travelers.

Even Four Season's upcoming vessel — with fares up to $350,000 a week — would have a larger guest capacity of up to 222 people. However, it would be almost 290 feet longer than Emerald Kaia.

Like traditional cruise ships, Kaia would have amenities like a spa, two lounges, and three dining options.

The top deck would also have a cabana and bar-lined pool, one of three swimming holes on the ship.

But unlike its mass-market competitors, Kaia would have an open-air marina that would give travelers direct access to the water.

Water platforms are typically only common on yacht-marketed ships, such as Emerald's, Ritz-Carlton's, and, someday, Four Seasons'.

This means guests on the upcoming Kaia could dip in the Mediterranean, Adriatic, and Aegean seas — as is included in its 2026 and 2027 itineraries — without disembarking the ship.

According to the cruise line, Emerald Kaia's future itineraries include an 11-day sailing from Cyprus to Greece and a 20-day one from Seychelles to Kenya.

Its cheapest itinerary is currently an eight-day roundtrip Seychelles vacation in 2027, starting at $5,055 per person.

As an all-inclusive cruise line, amenities like alcohol, WiFi, and excursions would be included in the base fare. However, unlike all-inclusive competitor Regent Seven Seas , guests must pay for their flights to and from the ship.

To compare, itineraries of the same length on Regent's Seven Seas Grandeur and Ritz-Carlton's Ilma would be $36 cheaper and $120 more expensive, respectively, per day.

But the fares aren't stopping travelers from gravitating toward Emerald. Before it unveiled Kaia, its parent company announced a record number of bookings in January — up 67% compared to its previous record in January 2020.

Castro said about 20% to 35% of its guests are American, typically well-acquainted with luxury travel.

The company's goal has been to increase its number of American customers. So far, it's working and is now "on track to be Emerald's No. 1 market," Castro told BI.

The new vessel is being built at a great time for the cruise line.

Strong demand, compounded by a small fleet of small ships, has led to fewer available cabins for its upcoming summer Mediterranean cruises.

Several of these sailings are now fully reserved. The cheapest remaining fares start at $4,570 per person for an eight-day November sailing from Athens, Greece, to Dubrovnik, Croatia.

It's great news for Emerald as it considers a future with more ocean "yachts." "The sooner we fill the ships, the sooner we start building new ones," Castro said.

Small boat migrant arrivals by late April at highest level ever

More than 7,000 people have entered the UK by crossing the English Channel in a small boat since the start of the year.

The number of migrants that have crossed the Channel in small boats during the first four months of the year is at its highest ever level.

Some 7,167 people have arrived on UK shores after travelling by small boat from the continent between 1 January to 27 April, with 902 entering just this past week

This compares to 5,745 for the same period last year. The previous record was 6,691 in 2022.

The figures come after Rishi Sunak has staked much of his political future on getting the number of migrant boat crossings down.

On Sky's Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips programme he said migrants travelling to Ireland after arriving in the UK on small boats was a sign the Rwanda scheme was already working as a deterrent.

"People are worried about coming here and that demonstrates exactly what I'm saying," he told Sky News.

"If people come to our country illegally, but know that they won't be able to stay there, they are much less likely to come, and that's why the Rwanda scheme is so important."

However, the news that migrants are crossing from Northern Ireland into the Republic has sparked an outcry in the country, and prompted the government in Dublin to announce they are planning emergency legislation to send asylum seekers back to Britain.

More than 80% of recent arrivals in the republic came via the land border with Northern Ireland, Irish justice minister Helen McEntee told a parliamentary committee last week.

Stopping the boats was one of the government's five priorities set out by the prime minister after he took office in 2023.

The latest figures have been seized upon by Labour, with shadow immigration minister Stephen Kinnock saying: "This is the blunt reality behind all of Rishi Sunak's empty boasts: more people have arrived by small boats so far this year than ever before and more people are having to be rescued.

"What will it take for Rishi Sunak to wake up and realise that his plan is not working?

"We desperately need a Labour government in place to get a grip of this issue.

"Our plan would strengthen Britain's border security, crush the smuggling gangs, clear the asylum backlog, end hotel use, and set up a new returns and enforcement unit so those with no right to be in the UK are swiftly returned."

Earlier this week, the prime minister said the government would "begin the process of removing those identified for the first flight" to Rwanda.

Mr Sunak said that they had increased detention spaces to 2,200 and had 200 caseworkers "ready and waiting" to process asylum claims.

He added that 25 courtrooms and 150 judges had been provided to deal with any legal cases quickly.

A Home Office spokesperson said: "The unacceptable number of people who continue to cross the Channel demonstrates exactly why we are operationalising our plans to get flights off the ground to Rwanda as soon as possible.

"We continue to work closely with French police who are facing increasing violence and disruption on their beaches as they work tirelessly to prevent these dangerous, illegal and unnecessary journeys.

"We remain committed to building on the successes that saw arrivals drop by more than a third last year, including tougher legislation and agreements with international partners, in order to save lives and stop the boats."

Benny Blanco Jokes He Watched Titanic 'in Bed Cuddling' with Ed Sheeran During a Boat Trip to Europe: 'I Swear'

Benny Blanco is opening up about his bromance with Ed Sheeran .

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, April 30, the music producer detailed his experience working with Sheeran, 33, on Divide .

"I don't fly," Blanco, 36, began. "I took a boat to Europe. I literally take the Titanic to Europe. It's the same boat — when you're on the boat, like day three, they're like, 'This is where the Titanic sank.' And you're just in the middle of no where."

"Me and Ed Sheeran watched Titanic in bed cuddling on the fourth night," he said with a giggle. "I swear."

He then went on to explain that they worked on the album during that same boat trip.

"Ed's so nice. He's the nicest guy in the world. They gave us a room to write it in. It was the same room that... there was a daytime pianist that was like an 85-year-old woman. She would come in to practice everyday and had no idea who either one of us was. She was like, 'Hey, it's my time to practice.'"

"We'd be in the middle of writing like 'Perfect' or 'Happier.' Ed is so nice he would sit there and wait," he says. "She was a great pianist, I'll tell you. She didn't know anyone. I loved her."

Elsewhere in the interview, Blanco opened up about working on music with SZA — and how it was his cooking that kept her coming back to his place.

"First time SZA is ever at my house she goes to the kitchen and she's getting a glass of water. There's a small Tupperware of something and she's like, 'What's that?' I was like, 'Oh, it's just some banana pudding.' She take a bite. Before the end of the night pudding's gone. The next day, she comes in and she's like, 'Oh, is there any more banana pudding?' I was like, 'No, but I did eat some lasagna.' So she's eating lasagna."

He continues, "By the time we finished her album I was a full-time restaurant. She wouldn't come over. She bribed me. She was like, 'I'm not coming over unless I got the bread pudding, the lasagna, I need a Caesar salad.'"

Blanco — who is dating   Selena Gomez — released his first book  Open Wide: A Cookbook for Friends   on April 30.

"There's something I love about being able to host and make people have an experience and take them somewhere they may have not been before," he told PEOPLE in April . "Whether that's food or music or when we're making a TV show, it's like, I want everything to be an experience for people."

A HCSO dive team has responded to help search for the missing person. The Houston Fire Department is also at the scene.

Nine Rescued in Atlantic After Days on Wreckage of Migrant Boat

The survivors told Spanish authorities that about 60 people had been aboard when their vessel set out for the Canary Islands from Senegal.

After a migrant boat sank and about 50 of its passengers went missing in the Atlantic Ocean off northwestern Africa, nine survivors endured two days on the semi-submerged wreck before they were found, according to Spanish rescuers.

The rescue happened on Monday near the coast of the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago and a destination along a migration route on which, experts say, many other shipwrecks are likely to have gone unreported.

The rescue occurred after a merchant ship reported a sinking vessel 60 nautical miles south of El Hierro, an island in the far west Canaries, said Carmen Lorente Sánchez, a spokeswoman for the Spanish maritime safety and rescue organization.

She said rescuers found nine people on board and took them to the island’s airport. The survivors later told the authorities that the shipwreck had occurred two days earlier and that around 60 people were on board when they departed from Senegal, Ms. Sanchez added.

The Canary Islands received about 40,000 migrants last year, a sharp increase from the previous year, according to the United Nations International Organization for Migration.

Helena Maleno, the founder of Caminando Fronteras, a nongovernmental organization that tracks the deaths of migrants trying to reach Spain, said many people have embarked on unsafe fishing boats to reach Spain from Senegal because of the recent political upheaval in the country . Other people fled the effects of climate change and instability in the Sahel , she said.

“And in many occasions,” she said, “they go missing in the depth of the ocean.”

About 16,000 migrants have reached the archipelago this year from West African nations such as Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal, following the so-called Atlantic route, according to the I.O.M.

While the number of arrivals is close to that of those reaching Italy across the Mediterranean Sea, far fewer deaths are reported by the United Nations on the Atlantic route: 179 so far this year compared with 524 in the central Mediterranean.

Caminando Fronteras has reported 1,500 deaths on the route from Mauritania this year, a figure much higher than that used by the United Nations; the group says it compiles its figure from databases of distress warnings and of missing people.

The Atlantic route is likely to be “at least as dangerous as the Mediterranean,” said Flavio Di Giacomo, a spokesman with the I.O.M. “But it’s much harder to find evidence.”

The length of the route and the low quality of the boats used by the migrants make the journey particularly dangerous, said Jorge Galindo, a spokesman for the I.O.M.’s Global Migration Data Analysis Center. He added that it could take up to eight days for boats leaving from Senegal to reach El Hierro.

But parts of the route are less patrolled than the central Mediterranean, he said, so many boats likely go missing without anyone knowing.

Earlier this month, Brazilian authorities found a boat adrift in Pará State containing nine bodies, alongside documents and objects that they said indicated the passengers were migrants from Mali and Mauritania.

Five people die in attempt to cross Channel in small boat from France

Three men, a woman and a child reported dead with vessel said to have been carrying more than 110 people

Five people, including a child, have died in an attempt to cross the Channel in a small boat near the town of Wimereux, south of Calais, French authorities say.

More than 110 people were said to have been on board the vessel when it left at 5am near the Plage des Allemands.

The Calais prefect, Jacques Billant, told the Guardian that despite the deaths, 57 people had continued their journey to Britain once the boat’s motor had been restarted.

A provisional assessment reported five deaths, of three men, a woman, and a child reportedly aged between four and seven, and one person slightly injured.

Billant said a rescue operation had been dispatched quickly to the boat in difficulty, and rescuers saw six people “in great difficulty” or inanimate on the boat. They were immediately rescued and taken to shore for treatment by emergency services but “despite attempts to reanimate them, five of them died”, he said.

A further 47 people were rescued from the vessel and were helped by police, emergency services and doctors in Boulogne-sur-Mer. Four were admitted to hospital for treatment.

Billant said that “despite this complex and delicate situation”, 57 people on the dinghy did not want to leave the boat. They managed to get the motor running and continued to Britain, under the surveillance of French authorities.

The French association Osmose 62, which helps asylum seekers and refugees in northern France, was present in Wimereux. Dany Patoux, a volunteer, told France 3 regional television that he had been there when some of the people on the failed crossing made it back to shore.

He said he had seen the father of the child who died. “We knew the little girl well. We have photos with her, where she has a big smile in the hope of a better life. But now it’s all ruined. Her father fell into our arms just now. He is in tears, he is in a terrible state. He saw his daughter die before his eyes.”

The deaths come hours after Rishi Sunak’s government passed legislation to allow it to deport asylum seekers who arrive in the UK on small boats to Rwanda. Sunak said the “tragic” reports of deaths in the Channel showed why the Rwanda plan was needed.

“It’s just a reminder of why my plan is so important because there’s a certain element of compassion about everything that we’re doing,” he told reporters. “We want to prevent people making these very dangerous crossings. If you look at what’s happening, criminal gangs are exploiting vulnerable people.

“They are packing more and more people into these unseaworthy dinghies; you’ve seen an enormous increase in the numbers over the past few years. This is what tragically happens when they push people out to sea and that’s why, for matters of compassion more than anything else, we must actually break this business model.”

More than 6,000 people have made the journey so far this year – an increase of about a quarter on the same period last year.

Matthew Rycroft, the most senior civil servant in the Home Office, who has overseen the Rwanda scheme for two years, previously told MPs he did not have evidence to show it would have a deterrent effect that would make it value for money.

The deal will cost £1.8m for each of the first 300 deportees, the National Audit Office has confirmed.

The Channel is one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes and currents are strong, making the crossing on small boats dangerous. People smugglers typically overload rickety dinghies, often leaving them barely afloat as they try to reach British shores.

The Refugee Council in the UK described the deaths as “devastating” and “all the more tragic” coming just hours after the Rwanda bill was passed.

Enver Solomon, the council’s chief executive, said: “It is shocking to learn of the terrible loss of yet more lives in the Channel this morning. Our thoughts go out to the families and loved ones of those affected. This is another devastating human tragedy that could and should have been avoided, and for it to happen just hours after the government’s Rwanda bill became law makes it all the more tragic.

“The only sustainable way to reduce dangerous journeys … is for the government to reduce the need for desperate people to take desperate actions. Instead of hostile, headline-grabbing legislation, we need to see safe routes for those fleeing conflict and persecution, including more options for family reunion, refugee visas, and cooperation with our European neighbours.”

Crews face 'challenging water conditions' amid day 2 of search for missing person in Lake Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The search for a missing boater in Lake Houston reached its second day on Wednesday, but crews are said to be experiencing challenges in the water.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, a boat capsized at about 4:43 p.m. on Tuesday. The Houston Fire Department first called the operation a water rescue at the Alexander Deussen Park on Sonnier Street.

Officers and fire crews responded to the San Jacinto River Dam near Eisenhower Park and rescued one person. A second boater, however, remains missing.

Search efforts were called off late Tuesday due to the current being too strong to put a boat or diver near the capsized vessel, officials said.

On Wednesday morning, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the search for the second person was ongoing but emphasized "challenging water conditions" due to water release from the dam.

An initial report stated three boats were involved in an incident. Authorities have since only mentioned the two people involved - the one rescued and the one currently missing.
