Celebrities Accused Of 'Yachting' In Hollywood — And What Being A 'Yacht Girl' Really Means

Rumors suggest some women are paid to play..

It’s easy to be envious when seeing the Instagram photos of young, carefree celebrity women seemingly having the time of their lives on yachts floating in exotic waters and in the VIP sections of the most exclusive clubs.

However, rumor has it there is much more than meets the eye when it comes to these ‘yacht girls’ and their extravagant lifestyles.

What is a yacht girl?

According to Urban Dictionary , a yacht girl is “an attractive young woman who finds ways to get access to luxurious surroundings by being available to wealthy men.”

For example, you may follow a woman or two on Instagram who always seems to be partying or vacationing somewhere expensive (notably without ever showing who she’s actually with). This is a person you could potentially describe as being a yacht girl.

And it’s not just those Instagram models and wannabe stars that are considered yacht girls. As you work up the wealth chain, you may be surprised to recognize some celebrity names synonymous with yachting.

What is 'yachting' in Hollywood?

In Hollywood, the term yacht girl essentially means a woman who works as an escort for high-end clientele , not just on yachts but for any social event.

While the practice has only somewhat recently gained mainstream notoriety, if you think back on the many tabloid photos of models and actresses on yachts from years past, it appears to be something that's gone on in Hollywood “for 60 years,” according to Elie Nahas, who ran a Beirut-based modeling agency before being arrested on charges of running a prostitution ring in 2007.

In 2013, "The Hollywood Reporter" ran a feature describing this so-called yachting during the Cannes Film Festival.

“Every year during the festival there are 30 or 40 luxury yachts in the bay at Cannes, and every boat belongs to a very rich person. Every boat has about 10 girls on it; they are usually models, and they are usually nude or half nude,” Nahas told THR.

At the end of the night, each woman would receive a “gift,” a generous amount of money that the client would put in an envelope for her.

And while many of these women were self-proclaimed local prostitutes and escorts, the Cannes Film Festival is, of course, known for its celebrity attendees — and it’s rumored that celebrity women trying to fast-track a name for themselves in Hollywood become yacht girls, too.

“Women installed on yachts in Cannes during the film festival are called ‘yacht girls,’ and the line between professional prostitutes and B- or C-list Hollywood actresses and models who accept payment for sex with rich older men is sometimes very blurred, explains one film industry veteran,” Dana Kennedy wrote for THR.

Some women in Hollywood have accused their celebrity peers of being yacht girls.

A 2017 blind item (celebrity gossip that doesn’t outwardly name the celebrity) allegedly written by a struggling actress describes being lured by another actress into the world of yachting :

“The actress I was talking to made it sound super easy and that she only had [sex] a few times with guys while yachting and that it was mostly partying and being arm candy,” she writes, explaining that eventually she agreed to try it for $25,000 upfront, but admitting that the experience was less than glamorous.

Blind item readers guessed that Canadian actress Vanessa Lengies wrote the blind item and further surmised that it may be one of the Glee actresses Naya Rivera or Heather Morris that introduced her to yachting. None of these claims have ever been substantiated.

If you believe the rumors, it would seem that yachting is a rite of passage for women hoping to “make it” in Hollywood, and even some celebrities we now consider A-List are thought to be former yacht girls.

In an excerpt from her 2021 memoir , “My Body,” Emily Ratajkowski details being paid $25,000 at the start of her career to go to the Superbowl with now-disgraced Malaysian financier Jho Low, who "‘just liked to have famous men and women around,’” she explains her manager told her at the time.

She writes about attending the star-studded Coachella on someone else’s dime, having drinks paid for at clubs, and attending afterparties with Oscar-winning actors before actually becoming a celebrity herself.

One could infer from this recollection that, in order to be able to tell these stories, Ratajkowski was herself a yacht girl. “My Body” suggests as much, and in it, she subtly gives away the identity of another celebrity woman who yachted alongside her.

Ratajkowski describes watching as Low gave shots to a Victoria’s Secret model. While she doesn’t name drop, Ratajkowski gives just enough information for readers to figure who that model likely was.

“Now she kept her eyes locked on him as he took his shot, throwing her head back dramatically as he did, only to quickly toss the alcohol over her shoulder,” Ratajkowski writes. “When he faced her again, her eyes sparkled and the famous dimples appeared on her cheeks.”

Low has since become a fugitive wanted for allegedly running an international money laundering scheme, and in 2017, Reuters reported that model Miranda Kerr — known for her dimples — was being ordered to return “diamond pendants, earrings and other jewelry worth about $8 million” that Low allegedly gifted her to government agents.

In 2017, Ratajkowski also posted a video on Instagram potentially outing Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber as yacht girls as they danced aboard a yacht during that year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Many people have also accused Meghan Markle of yachting (but then again, what haven't people accused Markle of at this point).

People have pointed to an old photo of Markle on a yacht as proof that she’s a former yacht girl.

Another old blind item also suggested the former actress was available to “rent.”

"If you see B actress post scantily clad photos of themselves on Social Media, this is often a Comm to [them] that this person is available to ‘rent’ for a weekend of ‘yachting,’” the tweet says, including a photo of Markle in a swimsuit.

Markle’s close friendship pre-Harry with actress Priyanka Chopra has naturally led some to guess that Chopra once yachted as well.

Another actress that faces endless rumors of yachting is Russian actress Irina Shayk , which according to THR, is par for the course as the outlet writes that yachting your way to stardom happens with “disturbing frequency,” particularly when it comes to foreign-born actresses.

According to THR, who claims to know “of at least one now-prominent actress who made her first connections on a Cannes yacht and quickly landed her debut role in a U.S.-shot movie,” such as with Shayk’s 2014 film “Hercules,” it’s “a red flag any time you see a foreign-born actress with no credits suddenly make her way into a U.S.-shot movie.”

Of course, when it comes to yachting in Hollywood, all of these claims appear to be unfounded.

These rumors make for good gossip, whether you’re talking about low-level social media influencers or high-profile celebrity actresses.

However, nothing is proven, leaving us to wonder any time we see a photo of women on a yacht.

We explore the hidden meaning of "yachting" in Hollywood: individuals, often women, get paid large sums to spend time with wealthy individuals for career advancement.

Individuals may face uncomfortable situations, including sexual assault, trading dignity for fame, and money in a corrupt industry.

Prominent figures like Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Nina Dobrev, Hailey Bieber, and Emily Ratajkowski have all been linked anecdotally to Nonsense Pudding .

Thanks to influencers like Deux Moi , normies are finally getting a peek into the life of the rich and famous. And while pictures aboard yachts surrounded by luxury may look glamorous to all of us, it isn't necessarily all that it’s cracked up to be. Stories have been coming out for decades about people, often women, who subject themselves to “yachting.”

We may associate yachting with rich guys sailing in races, but it actually has a much darker meaning in Hollywood . It’s often considered Hollywood’s oldest “open secret,” but what actually is “yachting”? Keep reading for all of the details.

In Hollywood, "yachting" is the practice of getting paid large sums of money to spend time with wealthy people.

At its most innocent, “yachting” is a PR opportunity for an up-and-coming actor or model. However, it’s often much more sinister. Basically, typically women on their way up in the industry may get paid a large sum of money — five, six, or even seven figures — to spend time with wealthy men. The benefit for the women is the money, the photo ops of luxury, and a potential opportunity to meet someone who could give them a leg up in the industry.

However, they often aren’t told what strings are attached before agreeing to “yacht” with someone. Many of these excursions often lead to sex and other forms of assault. Although the women tend to be up and coming celebs and influencers, they are essentially selling their body for the entirety of their time on the yacht. It gives “the implication” a whole new meaning.

“Yachting” is a common and known practice in Hollywood, but it could also be considered prostitution.

In 2007, businessman Elie Nahas was convicted of running a prostitution ring at the Cannes Film Festival. He claimed that he was only responsible for getting women to Cannes and had nothing to do with what happened after, but even if he did, there are hundreds of other men doing the same thing.

Many of us see pictures of celebrities on yachts and luxury vacations and think, "Wow, imagine living that life!" But in reality, they're being paid to spend time with someone they may not like just because it could further their career. But in doing so, many give up their bodies.

In fact, one Redditor wrote : “You are essentially being bought for a certain period of time. Hence why people get drugged, raped, fondled, sleep with men older than their fathers, pissed and shat on. Once everything is said and done, the trauma and memories of doing those things stay with you forever. Your dignity is being leveraged for fame and money. Let’s not forget a lot of these encounters are filmed and can easily be used to blackmail these young stars.”

It’s an example of powerful men taking advantage of young women with dreams of succeeding in an already corrupt industry. But the practice is so common that stories have circulated about Selena Gomez , Ariana Grande, Kylie and Kendall Jenner , Nina Dobrev, Hailey Bieber, and many other big stars.

Emily Ratajkowski also talks about it in her memoir, My Body . She explains how she was paid $25,000 early on in her career just to accompany Jho Low to the Super Bowl, without understanding what she was expected to do. So while the idea of riding around on a luxury yacht might sound ideal, many paths there aren’t as great.

Many fashion designers have also entered the world of yachting. Giorgio Armani , for example, boasts 40 years of sailing experience. Even his yacht Codecasa Main , which can accommodate up to 12 guests, exudes fashionable flair. David Beckham and his lucky "Seven"

Naturally, a yacht is also part of David Beckham 's star-studded family's collection. Aptly named Seven , after the number the football icon donned on his jersey, David's 28-metre Riva Argo 90 is a sight to behold. Launched in October 2021, the iconic 'Seven' is propelled by two MTU diesel engines, reaching a top speed of 30 knots. The yacht's standout design elements include a sunbathing area on the bow, as well as an array of amenities and water toys for endless enjoyment.

What about the superyacht "Cyan"?

Rumors have circulated in the tabloids about this superyacht, initially attributing its ownership to U2's frontman, Bono . However, it is actually owned by U2's guitarist,  the Edge . The yacht's crew dons rock-inspired uniforms, and the vessel boasts one of the finest outdoor cinemas found on a superyacht. Measuring an impressive 48.71 metres, the yacht remains in impeccable condition despite being launched in 1997, thanks to meticulous maintenance. It is currently available for charter through Burgess .

Constructed in 1911 for British theatre manager Fred Karno , Astoria was designed with grand ambitions in mind — to accommodate on-board performances by up to a 90-piece orchestra !

In 1986 the yacht was purchased by the guitarist of Pink Floyd , who converted it into a recording studio with three cabins, a kitchen, bathroom and a large main salon. Parts of the last three Pink Floyd albums were recorded on board. Astoria is permanently moored on the River Thames in Greater London.

UFC fighter Conor McGregor  owns a cutting-edge 19.2-metre Tecnomar For Lamborghini 63  yacht. As the name implies, it represents a fusion of the two prominent brands, catered to aficionados of both superyachts and supercars . The yacht features a dazzling gold paint job, ensuring it shines on the water, and is equipped with features reminiscent of a Lamborghini supercar. Its aerodynamic profile and unique "carbon skin" further enhance its distinct appeal.

The "Freedom" of fashion designer Roberto Cavalli in the style of Batman

Fashion designer Roberto Cavalli  commissioned the construction of his yacht,  Freedom , back in 2018, and it was surrounded by intrigue. The 27-metre vessel hails from the Cerri Cantieri Navali shipyard in Italy, with its design inspired by the Batman superhero and his Batmobile . The yacht boasts sharp lines, a black exterior, and tinted windows. The deck, cabins, and saloons are adorned with characteristic animal-print furnishings . Featuring two dining rooms, Freedom can accommodate six guests and three crew members. Its top speed reaches an impressive 40 knots.

The most expensive and largest yacht among all global celebrities is owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich . In addition to Eclipse , he also possesses the superyachts Solaris  and Sussurro . Abramovich is often described as the person to have owned the most megayachts in their lifetime. Jeff Bezos, too, has been known to buy and sell impressive yachts.

The yacht Amphitrite  was previously owned by both J .K. Rowling and Johnny Depp . The Harry Potter author purchased the classic superyacht Amphitrite when it was previously owned by actor Johnny Depp, another yachting enthusiast, under the name Vajoliroja. At the time, the yacht's name was an amalgamation of his name and the names of his ex-wife Vanessa Paradis and their two children, Lily-Rose and Jack.

Even the renowned American pianist Billy Joel owns a modern classic yacht called Vendetta . It is just one of the many yachts he has possessed, as Joel considers himself an avid yachting enthusiast. He even designs yachts for fellow celebrities. Legend has it that Billy Joel would use the yacht to travel from his Long Island home to the city where he was performing concerts. At one stage, he even owned five yachts.

Former American footballer Tom Brady  also loves yachting and had a custom-built 16-metre cruiser made for him before ordering an even larger yacht towards the end of 2020. The Wajer 55S, christened Viva and Vida , boasts a baby blue hull and can reach speeds of up to 40 knots. Alongside an host of water toys, the boat features the convenience of push-button fenders and a retractable swim platform.

For renowned businessman Richard Branson , his yacht and a Caribbean island serve as sanctuaries where he can unwind from the pressures of his professional life. The 32-metre catamaran Necker Belle is named after Branson's island retreat, Necker Island, in the British Virgin Islands, which is among the most exclusive private islands owned by celebrities.

Although his superyacht Va Bene is currently for sale, Clapton also owns a yacht called Blue Guitar , named after his famous guitar.

Furthermore, images of them enjoying themselves on a superyacht bolster their "superstar image," which their fans adore. To conclude our list, one might say that a celebrity who doesn't sail, in Hollywood and beyond, is practically unheard of...

A crew member falls off a yacht and dies during a race on the Aegean Sea

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — A French crew member on a boat participating in a yacht race on the Aegean Sea has died after falling overboard in strong winds, Greek officials said Tuesday.

A coast guard statement said the accident occurred late Monday off the eastern island of Kassos. It identified the crew member as a 40-year-old woman. It said a second crew member who went overboard was rescued.

Race organizers said the dead crew member had a severe head injury and efforts to revive her were unsuccessful. The yacht was taking part in the international Aegean 600 that started Sunday.

Organizers said Monday’s severe weather forced 14 of the 69 yachts participating to drop out.

Richard Simmons , the goofy clown prince of fitness who turned his passion for weight loss into riches and fame as a Hollywood celebrity, has died. He was 76.

A rep for Simmons told The Hollywood Reporter that he died earlier Saturday at his home in Los Angeles. His cause of death wasn’t immediately available.

The star of his own syndicated TV exercise show in the 1980s, the curly-haired Simmons  sold millions of aerobics Sweatin ‘ to the Oldies videos and DVDs. 

At his peak, Simmons, who sported too-short shorts and a sparkly tank top with Swarovski crystals during his workouts, flew around the country making motivational speeches and conducting fitness classes for rapt fans.

In 1980, he published  Richard Simmons’ Never-Say-Diet Book , a huge best-seller that had chapters like “Coming to Grips With Your Hips” and “How to Eat Out and Not Pig Out.”

Simmons went on to appear as himself on such series as Arrested Development , Amazing Stories , CHiPs , The Larry Sanders Show and General Hospital and was a frequent guest/foil on The Howard Stern Show and on David Letterman’s late night talk shows.

Later, he voiced the character Coach Salmons on the 2010-12 Disney Channel animated series Fish Hooks .

Simmons was born Milton Teagle Simmons in New Orleans on July 12, 1948, grew up in the French Quarter and sold pralines on the street. He was overweight as a kid and said he weighed nearly 270 pounds when he graduated high school.

Simmons vowed to get in shape and, at 5-foot-7, got down to about 150 pounds. He headed west and brought his weight-loss message to Beverly Hills, opening a combination exercise studio (Anatomy Asylum) and restaurant ( Ruffage ) in 1974. His clientele included Barbra Streisand , Dustin Hoffman, Cheryl Ladd, Diana Ross and Paul Newman.

In November 2016 , Simmons shuttered the studio, most recently called Slimmons . “The studio is where my whole career started,” he wrote on his website. “I began doing local shows in the city. And then I got my big break to play myself on General Hospital .”

Five months earlier, Simmons was transported from his home to a hospital by ambulance after the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a 911 call. He said later that he was dehydrated and told his fans not to worry about his health.

The New York Daily News reported in March 2016 that he was being held against his will in his home. But Simmons, who hadn’t been seen in public in about two years, denied that on the Today show. “No one is holding me in my house as a hostage,” he said.

In January, Simmons said he didn’t approve of a biopic of his life from The Wolper Organization that Pauly Shore would star in. “I have never given my permission for this movie,” he said.

Survivors include his brother, Lenny.

On the eve of his death, Simmons was on Facebook, expressing his appreciation to fans for their birthday wishes. “Thank you … I never got so many messages about my birthday in my life!” he wrote. “I am sitting here writing emails. Have a most beautiful rest of your Friday.”

They've played The Fresh Prince and Captain Jack Sparrow , but in real life, Will Smith and Johnny Depp are raising eyebrows for reprising other roles: longtime friends.

The pair were pictured overseas this week on a yacht in Tuscany with Egyptian singer Ahmed Saad ahead of attending Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli's  30th-anniversary concert. On Wednesday, a video of the duo was shared on Bocelli's official Instagram Story , but not everybody is feeling the love.

In a Buzzfeed article published Wednesday, writer Natasha Jokic took issue with the two men for hanging out together.

"I just refuse to sit here and act like it isn't absolutely freakish behavior," adding that "I firmly believe Heard will find her place in groveling, 'we-were-so-wrong' media reexaminations in future years, but I don't care to wait that long."

Some on social media didn't appreciate the snap of Smith and Depp, either.

"Ew. Would love to see Amber and Jada in a pic together instead, two of 'the most hated women in the world'. It would be empowering," one user wrote.

Another said, "Ew. Johnny Depp is a wife beating rapist."

One commenter continued: "Well now I’m glad I didn't see bad boys in theaters. I was planning too soon."

Depp was center stage two years ago in a defamation trial involving allegations of abuse from his ex-wife, "Aquaman" actress Amber Heard . Earlier that year, at the 94th Academy Awards in March, Smith slapped Chris Rock after the comedian joked about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head from alopecia.

However, the criticism comes amid public comebacks for both men.

Last month, Smith starred opposite Martin Lawrence in "Bad Boys: Ride or Die ," the fourth film in the legendary movie franchise. Depp made an acting comeback earlier this year as France’s King Louis XV, in the French-language film "Jeanne du Barry" in May.

Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, has been diagnosed with Lyme disease.

The Reddit founder, 41, shared the health news via X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday, “Doing a full battery of health scans, tests, etc, and found out I have lyme disease.

The father of two added that the results were “wild” as he didn’t feel ill “thankfully.”

“[…] gonna treat. Good cholesterol is too low. Bad cholesterol is just OK. Gotta work on that. On the plus-side: 822 ng/dL total + 162 ng/dL free testosterone.”

According to the Mayo Clinic , the disease is caused by borrelia bacteria and humans usually get it from an infected tick bite.

Early symptoms can include fever, headaches, tiredness, muscle aches and pains. If it’s untreated, the symptoms can become more serious and include muscle weakness, numbness and vision loss.

The business whiz further told his fans that he was shocked by the diagnosis because he has spent “so little time in the wilderness and Northeast,” where Lyme Disease is most common.

“I’ve got a loved one who had it a few years back, showed tons [of] symptoms etc and just couldn’t figure it out until they tested him for it and then found it (treated it successfully, too),” he added.

Ohanian then advised his 500k followers on the platform to seek professional medical help if they wanted to get tested for Lyme Disease.

“Please talk to a doctor,” he wrote. “Do not listen to me for any health advice!”

More than 470,000 Americans are diagnosed with Lyme disease each year, according to the CDC.

Despite the news, Ohanian ended the news on a cheery note.

This 88.5-foot vessel is a houseboat turned into a floating recording studio. Pink Floyd’s lead guitarist David Gilmour bought Astoria in 1986 and repurposed it to record albums. In some of Pink Floyd’s songs, you can hear the sound of boats and birds from the river.

The vessel was originally commissioned by music hall producer Fred Karno and designed to seat a 90-piece orchestra on the top. Astoria has three main cabins, a central saloon, a kitchen and bathroom. Interesting fact: The vessel has never sailed and is permanently moored on the  River Thames.

The name was created from the names of the couple’s three children, Pierre, Andrea and Charlotte. The boat’s Lamborghini engines enable it to reach speeds of 60 knots. The vessel can accommodate five people and two crew members. The boat’s name is unknown, but Proper Twelve is engraved below the ship’s throttle. McGregor also owns three Lamborghini cars.

Viva A Vida is Portuguese for “live life” and is the name of Bündchen’s environmental foundation. Jordan named the boat for his Air Jordan 3 sneakers , and the vessel includes a massive freezer and fish wells for Jordan’s catches. His largest haul to date was a 442-pound marlin in 2020 for the Big Rock Blue Marlin Fishing Tournament. The vessel can take up to eight guests and two crew members.

It looks like former NBA player Tony Parker, who left the sport in 2019, will be spending a lot of his time at sea. Parker ordered a new Kando 110-series vessel from AvA Yachts, a Turkish shipbuilder in 2018.

His new 115-foot superyacht features six cabins, a gym, a longer swim platform at the stern, a Jacuzzi, leather furniture and interior American walnut accents. The vessel can carry up to 12 guests and a crew of seven. Parker has visited the shipyards multiple times to personally supervise the building of his new yacht.

Former NBA player and “Inside the NBA” host Shaquille O’Neal owns a massive 440-foot superyacht as befits the more than 7-foot-tall former basketball star. The vessel features a pool with a wet bar and two smaller hot tubs on the top deck.

O’Neal’s superyacht can accommodate up to 24 guests in 12 staterooms and a crew of up to 40. The ship features a piano and cocktail lounge with a massive, two-story crystal chandelier, helipad and full spa with a sauna.

Cyan has six guest cabins and can accommodate up to 12 people and 11 crew members. The vessel has two small motorboats and equipment for a range of watersports, including scuba diving, kayaking and jetskiing.

The vessel contains three decks, a sundeck with 360-degree views, an elevator and a customized, inflatable water slide. The Regina can accommodate up to 12 guests and includes a VIP stateroom. The couple recently sold their superyacht.

Cavalli worked with Italian yacht designer Tommaso Spadolini and Cerri Cantieri Navali shipyards to create the two-deck vessel. Freedom can accommodate up to six guests and three crew members.

The interior was furnished from the Roberto Cavalli Home collection, mixing the designer’s signature animal prints with metalwork, leather and gold accents. Freedom has a full onboard kitchen for Cavalli’s use.

Sir Elton John and his husband, Canadian filmmaker David Furnish , owned a 164-foot superyacht called the Wabi Sabi, built by U.S. shipyard Westport. The name is a Japanese phrase that means "embracing the beauty of an imperfect world."

The vessel contains a gym, massage room, entertainment center with a 50-inch wide plasma screen, library, private decks and a formal dining room that seats 12. A sundeck features a Jacuzzi, barbecue and bar. The Wabi Sabi accommodates up to 18 guests and 12 crew members. The pair sold the vessel in 2017.

Giorgio Armani himself designed this 213-foot superyacht, which was built by the Italian shipyard, Codecasa , in his trademark minimalist style. The vessel, inspired by military ships, is painted a dark green, instead of the standard white, so it can’t easily be seen against the ocean.

Armani designed the interior with light birchwood furniture, dark green walls and louvre blinds. The yacht contains seven cabins, which can accommodate up to 12 people, and holds a crew of 14. The vessel contains a cinema, gym, whirlpool, indoor gym, marble bathrooms and a large sundeck.

6. The Maraya

Value in 2012: $65 million

Current value: $77.7 million

Celebrity owner: Puff Daddy (Sean Combs)

Platinum recording artist and music producer Sean Combs, also known as Puff Daddy or P.Diddy, bought the superyacht Maraya in 2012. Built by Italian company, CRN Ancona, the 177-foot vessel accommodates up to 12 guests and 15 crew members.

The five-deck yacht features a sundeck with a Jacuzzi, a gym and wellness area, and numerous lounging areas. The Maraya also has a nightclub with a bar, a movie screening room, and formal and casual dining rooms. The master suite has a private balcony that can be raised or lowered, giving the owner privacy.

Venus was one of Apple Founder Steve Job’s last projects and was finished after his death. The 256-foot yacht was built by Feadship, a Dutch company, in collaboration with De Voogt Naval Architects. French designer, Phillipe Starck, created the interior and exterior.

Venus has a sleek, minimalist look with massive, 10-foot-high glass windows, six guest bedrooms and a sophisticated smart-home system. The control room features seven Mac computer screens and a high-tech Apple navigation system. Venus can accommodate 12 guests and 22 crew members. 

4. Seven Seas

Current value: $160 million

Celebrity owner: Steven Spielberg

In 2010, Steven Speilberg commissioned Oceanco, a Dutch superyacht builder, to make the Seven Seas, a 282-foot customized vessel. The yacht contains seven to nine bedrooms and can accommodate up to 20 guests and 28 crew members.

The Seven Seas is divided into four decks and contains a state-of-the-art screening room, fitness room, swimming pool, two spas and a glass elevator. The master suite features a private deck and hot tub at the front of the vessel. The yacht is currently for sale, and Spielberg has a new vessel on order.

In 2009, designer Diane von Furstenburg and her husband, media mogul Barry Diller, bought Eos, a 305-foot schooner with electronically rigged sails. It's one of the largest sailing yachts in the world.

The yacht was built by Bremen’s Lurssen shipyard and named after the Greek goddess of the dawn. The vessel can accommodate up to 16 guests and 21 crew members. Eos features a Jacuzzi and sundeck on the top level, a glass staircase and lavish interior spaces in dark-wood and white furnishings.

2. The Rising Sun

The 453-foot superyacht Rising Sun was originally owned jointly by Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and David Geffen, of Geffen Records, but Geffen took over the boat in 2010. The Rising Sun has more than 8,000 square feet of interior space, spread across five decks. The luxury superyacht can accommodate up to 16 guests and 43 crew members.

The vessel features a full gym, extensive wine cellar, cinema, sauna, spa and helipad that doubles as a basketball court. Geffen also owns a smaller motor yacht, the 377-foot Pelorus.

Jeff Bezos’ new 417-foot yacht is still being finished in the Oceanco shipyards in the Netherlands. The company is a well-known Dutch builder that creates one-of-a-kind superyachts for wealthy and celebrity clients. Oceanco is experiencing rising demand for their vessels, and their shipyards are booked out.

Bezos’s superyacht will include a support yacht with a built-in helipad. The superyacht will have multiple decks, three large masts, 31,000 square feet of sails and will be the world’s largest sailing yacht when it is completed in 2022.

He is the owner of a Jon Bannenberg super yacht and it is one of the largest ships on record. The Rising Sun has an amazing, 82 rooms on board, Jacuzzi tubs in every cabin bathroom, a basketball court, heli-pad, wine cellar and a movie theatre for entertaining guests. The cost of the super yacht was $200 million to build.

20. Paul Allen

Paul Allen is the co-founder of Microsoft ad is one rich guy who can obviously afford some expensive toys, with this 414-foot super yacht being one of them.

The $200 million yacht named, Octopus, and it is loaded with luxurious features, including a movie theater, basketball court, recording studio, two helicopters, a pool, and it can accommodate up to 26 guests in the 41 cabin suites it has, as well there are 26 cabins set-up for the 64 crewman Allen keeps hired to run the vessel.

The super yacht takes Paul Allen $384,000 a week to maintain it. The Octopus also carries two submarines below, for state-of-the-art exploration. The Octopus has been said to be more of a Range Rover rather than a Bentley as far as what it is designed with for exploration with the subs and the two heli-pads set up on the upper deck.

Look, watching either of your parents makeout with someone has to be a little awkward, even if it’s a step-parent. Reign Disick   had to jump in to ask his mom  Kourtney Kardashian   to cut out the kissing with her husband  Travis Barker   in the latest episode of  The Kardashians , which aired on Thursday, July 18. When Kourt, 45, and the drummer, 48, reunited in Australia during his tour, they couldn’t keep their hands off of each other.

As they met up down under, Kourtney ran up to Travis and started making out with him. She revealed that while he was on the road with blink-182 in Australia, it had been the longest stretch that they’d been apart since she gave birth to their baby boy  Rocky , 8 months. “My husband is home. I missed you,” she declared, according to  Page Six . 

During the trip, Kourtney brought her son Reign, 9, and daughter  Penelope , 12, to ride on a yacht with Travis. Come summertime, the harbors of the Dalmatian Coast, French Riviera and Amalfi Coast fill with luxurious superyachts.

These incredible vessels are owned and enjoyed by celebrities, royalty and titans of industry.

The smooth running of these colossal boats depends on a troop of dedicated workers. And among the most diligent are stewardesses.

They call themselves “glorified housekeepers” but they’re much more than that.

They’re also entertainers, cleaners, cocktail mixologists, waiters and even yoga teachers.

Chief Stewardess, Gemma Hulbert , has been working as a “stew” for almost seven years.

“We’re caretakers for the guests – anything and everything they need is done before they need it,” the 25-year-old explains, adding that guest requests at times can be quite unusual.

Once, she says, a guest only wanted to bathe in half a tub of hot water that was then topped off with half a bottle of none-other than Fiji water and half a cup of baby oil.

“That was so much fun to clean from the marble after,” Hulbert quips.

“I’ve also had a charter guest in the past who purchased a vintage Hermes bag in the States so our purser (the officer on board who keeps the accounts) had to organize a private jet to go to the States from Monaco to pick up the bag and bring it back so she could take it to a gala the next day,” she adds.

Chelsea Nielsen also works as a superyacht stewardess and on-board yoga teacher – something she calls both exhausting and rewarding.

“They (guests) are used to luxuries – they’re desensitized to having help 24/7 and having people take care of them 24/7,” the 33-year-old tells CNN from Monaco during one of her rare days off.

“Of course, they have expectations as I do if I go to a restaurant, but as far as people being the clients I have worked with or worked for have truly only been grateful and gracious.

“You can always tell who has come down from generations of wealth – they just carry themselves with a bit of grace and class versus maybe someone who has just come into money for the first time and they have a little bit of their nose in the air, little bit of an attitude about them.

“No judgment of course! It’s just interesting.”

‘Celebrities aren’t the norm’

Nielsen has worked on both private and chartered yachts – including the award-winning 312ft motor yacht, Kismet , owned by billionaire Shahid Khan, owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham FC. It reportedly charted guests Beyonce and Jay-Z in July.

“I get asked about what celebrities I’ve met and I’ve been lucky to have met a few but that’s not the norm from what I have found – at least from my experience. Of course, there are celebrities who own yachts but it’s not as prevalent as really wealthy entrepreneurs who have been smart with their investments and can afford to throw money into a big hull in the water,” Nielsen says.

“It may be someone who has a specific brand or product that has exploded or someone who makes a specialized product for cars. One of my previous bosses brought the concept of loyalty rewards to his country so all the grocery stores in his country now have loyal reward programs.”

It’s common practice for stewardess’ to sign non-disclosure agreements to protect guest identities. Something Nielsen says is out of privacy and respect.

Reconnecting guests via yoga

Nielsen compares her hours to that of doctors.

“Basically we’re on call 24/7,” Nielsen explains. Generally, she works a 13 hour day – with a two-hour break during the day, and a nine-hour break overnight. She does everything from maintaining the boat, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and entertaining guests by offering them yoga classes.

“The yachting industry is very materialistic and very luxurious and a lot of beauty is to be said about it but you can lose track of your heart and soul and the things that really matter in life and I feel honored to be able to reconnect people to that part of them.”
