Onboard J’ade, The Luxury Mega Yacht With A SpeedBoat Garage And Lots More

' src=

Who isn’t dreaming of owning a luxury yacht? Yes, getting one is extremely impossible but there’s no harm in dreaming. After all, most luxury yacht are quiet dreamy aren’t they? Especially when you see this 196-foot mega yacht which features the world’s first floating hydraulic-operated garage for an eight-metre speedboat. But wait, there’s a lot more.

In the non-stop battle of the mega yachts, in order to become the most extravagant vessel that stands out in the seas, it really takes a lot to impress the super wealthy. Helipads, movie theatres, and swimming pools are already quiet common. But this particular mega yacht by a stylish Italian made quite an impression.

J’ade, by the Ferretti group CRN and Studio Zuccon International Project, is making waves for being the first to feature a floating drive-in garage for an eight-metre speedboat. The yacht which estimated to cost around $60m (£37m), took three years to build, was launched only last year but it already won several prizes for its luxurious interiors and innovative designs to make you ‘feel at one with the sea’.

J’ade, the 196-foot mega yacht features a hydraulic-operated hatch to store an eight-metre speedboat.

The yacht is absolutely a must-sea.

It’s a floating garage – AND a pool.

The internal basin floods and empties 18,000 litres of water in just three minutes, allowing the 27-foot speedboat named Riva Iseo to enter the yacht without using a crane. And when you’re not storing your toy speedboat, the garage doubles up as an indoor ocean pool.

The extra-ordinary garage enables the owner to access the yacht from their speed boat internally, via the vessel’s plush lower deck.

Only launched last year, the 60-meter yacht was the star attraction at Monaco yacht Show.

When the speedboat is not being stored, the basin can also be used as an internal ocean pool, located just behind this luxury terrace

The mega yacht also features a gymnasium and mosaic-tiled hammam room, where guests can sit back and unwind after a day at sea.

“CRN is experimenting,” Luca Boldrini, CRN’s sales director told Boat International. “We’re experimenting in design, in sizes, and in features. Each of the yachts in build has special features in development, and we hope the next step will be to mix and match all these new features in one or two new concepts so future owners can not only have a beautiful, seaworthy and safe vessel, but they can have special features that nobody else has. These will not be special features that are just an experiment, but features clients can touch and feel in other vessels under construction or already floating.”

This is definitely designed to fit the specific tastes of the filthy rich.

The formal dining table comfortably seats 12 guests, after dinner guests can relax with a digestif on the adjacent seating area.

jade_yacht_15

When the dining table is a bit too formal, breakfast and lunch can be taken on the terrace, with this round table comfortably seating nine people.

The vessel can accommodate 10 guests split across four cabins, plus the owner suite, as well as 13 crew members to cater to those on board.

A Super-Yacht With a Garage For Smaller Boats Is Luxuriously Obscene

It's okay to desire the finer things in life, but at what point do you draw the line between luxury and exorbitance? Probably somewhere well before this insane 200-foot long mega-yacht from CRN called the J'ade, which features a built-in garage that smaller boats can drive right into.

Larger boats carrying smaller boats isn't a new trend by any means; they usually serve as tender craft carrying passengers to shore when the yacht is simply too big to pull into a dock. But those boats are often raised and lowered using cranes. The J'ade is the first luxury yacht to feature an actual garage that floods, allowing a 26-foot speedboat to be driven right inside.

Once the smaller boat is secured, the flooded garage can be drained in just three minutes, reducing the weight the yacht's pair of massive 1500kW engines has to push around.

As for pricing, if you have to ask you'll want to just move along. This isn't the kind of toy you order at your local boat show. It's the kind of thing that's custom-built and delivered to anywhere in the world you need it. But with capacity for 13 crew members and 10 guests, maybe you can find 22 friends who are willing to split the cost with you, and then work out a sort of time-share deal. Just remember that fuel costs alone are probably more expensive than just the speedboat this massive craft is designed to accommodate. [ CRN via designboom ]

This New Superyacht Will Be One of the World’s Fastest

By Katherine McLaughlin

Rendering of a superyacht sailing along a city coastline

Depending on who you ask, bigger may not always mean better, but in the world of superyacht designs , it does usually mean slower. However, this may soon change with Vanquish’s VQ115 Veloce , which the company has promised will be one of the fastest superyachts in the world more than 30 meters (about 98.5 feet) long.

Rendering of an exterior deck on a superyacht

The VQ115 is designed for entertaining.

Commissioned from the Dutch luxury yacht company by a repeat client, the VQ115 reaches an impressive 51 knots, which is a little under 59 miles per hour, and spans 35 meters or 114.8 feet. The 32-seat, three-deck powerboat is set to be delivered to its owner in North America later this year.

To power the nearly 100-ton boat, Vanquish plans to install three MTU Rolls-Royce 2600s engines that surface drives will back up. When running on the two engines, the vessel will have upwards of a 500-nautical-mile range in addition to an extra fuel tank, which can be used for cruising at 15 knots.

Rendering of the interior of a superyacht. White couches with blue accents

The yacht has a spacious saloon that leads to an outdoor deck.

Rendering of a jacuzzi on the deck of superyacht

A jacuzzi makes it easy to enjoy the water without getting into the ocean.

The Vanquish team tapped the expertise of Studio Delta, a naval architecture firm, to design the yacht’s hull to minimize drag and increase efficiency when pacing at top speeds. The rest of the exterior, designed by Guido de Groot, is similarly sleek and modern and made from aluminum.

On board, there will be no shortage of entertainment options. Two smaller Vanquish watercrafts, the VQ16 and VQ11, will respectively be housed on a tender bay and second starboard garage. A live bait tank, bar, saltwater jacuzzi, office space, cinema room, and multiple outdoor lounging and dining area are also part of the design.

Rendering of cabin with a queen bed on a superyacht

Cabin space was less of a priority as the client wanted more room for socialization.

Despite its monstrous size, the VQ115 notably lacks cabin space—there are only three sleeping rooms. However, this isn’t an oversight, rather the client’s specific desire for a vessel designed for entertaining and interaction. At its size, the superyacht is sure to deliver on that front in a large way.

These boats prove that size doesn’t have to mean slow.

When American businessman John Staluppi embarked on his yachting journey, it was to break records. He wanted his first yacht to be the first boat over 100 feet to exceed 30 knots, or 34.5 mph. He achieved it with the 118-foot  For Your Eyes   Only,  delivered in 1985. It was also the first motoryacht in the US to have a combination of MTU diesel engines with water-jet propulsion.

His second yacht would smash all previous records. Delivered by Heesen in 1988,  Octopussy  fulfilled the Bond enthusiast’s aim to break the then 50-knot barrier with a top end of 53.17 knots (61 mph)—a speed that every other shipyard at the time said couldn’t be done.  Octopussy  immediately entered the record books as the world’s fastest yacht.

“That record was important to me because when you pull into any place there’s always a bigger boat or a prettier boat, but there aren’t many people who can say, ‘Hey, this is the fastest yacht in the world,’” Staluppi told  us .

Heesen’s latest delivery, the 197-foot Ultra G, is one of the Dutch yard’s fastest projects these days, with a propulsion package totaling 22,000 horsepower, including four water jets that deliver a top speed of 37 knots (42.57 mph).

Of course, 43 mph is a paltry number compared to many of the yachts on this list, including the new Bolide 80. That Italian stallion, which will make its debut at the Monaco Yacht Show, runs at a blistering 84 mph. It shows that speed, even in the large motoryacht category, is very much alive.

Here are 13 of the fastest motoryachts, past and present, that have ever been on the water.

1. Bolide 80 | 84 mph

Victory Marine calls the Bolide 80 its first “Hyper Muscle Yacht,” which will be part of a limited-edition series from 60 to 170 feet. Designer Brunello Acampora and his tema of engineers pulled out all the stops on this 80, creating a full-carbon-fiber boat with more than 6,000 horsepower. The multi-stepped hull helps propel the Bolide to its top speed of 70 knots (84 mph), while accomplishing the seemingly impossible task of burning about half the fuel of a much smaller flybridge motoryacht at lower cruising speeds. The designer took care to give the Bolide a streamlined profile, with aerodynamic shapes to reduce resistance. The interior includes the captain’s cabin, a full-sized galley, open salon, and a forward owner’s area with a bedroom, en suite and wardrobe area. It will make its global debut at the Monaco Yacht Show.

2. ‘Foners’ | 80.56 mph

Clocking a thrilling 70.10 knots (80.56 mph), the 136-foot  Foners  has maintained pole position as the world’s fastest superyacht for over 20 years. Powered by two 1,280hp MAN engines coupled to three Rolls-Royce 6,700 hp gas turbines driving three KaMeWa water jets, the all-aluminum boat is less about piercing waves and more about parting the seas. Delivered in 2000 by Spanish shipyard Izar as the King of Spain’s royal yacht, no expense was spared, including a superstructure lined with Aramid fiber for the express purpose of bulletproofing the interior.

3. ‘World Is Not Enough’ | 77.1 mph

You need to only look at the 007-inspired name to know that  World Is Not Enough  is another rapid racer commissioned by John Staluppi, this time with an opulent interior designed by his wife Jeanette in partnership with Evan K Marshall. Delivered in 2004 by Millennium Super Yachts, the 139-footer is powered by two Paxman diesel engines and two Lycoming gas turbines to produce a staggering 20,600hp and a breathtaking 67 knots (77.1 mph). When not leaving other boats behind,  World Is Not Enough  has a cruising range of 3800 nautical miles at a comfortable speed of 10 knots.

4. ‘Galeocerdo’ | 74.8 mph

Wally founder Luca Bassani designed the 118-foot  Galeocerdo  to maintain speed in rough seas. Launched in 2003 by Rodriquez Yachts, the boat racks up an eye-watering 65 knots (74.8 mph), thanks to its three Vericor TF50 gas turbines, each driving a Rolls-Royce KaMeWa water jet. Another performance-enhancing feature is the lightweight titanium exhaust system designed to resist the extreme temperatures generated by the gas turbines. Wind tunnel tested at the Ferrari facility in Maranello, Italy, the boat generates 16,800hp and a 45-knot (51.8-mph) cruising speed that’s faster than most motoryachts running flat out. It also enjoys a highly futuristic exterior design.

5. Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 | 72.5 mph

When Italian supercar brand Lamborghini teamed up with yachting stalwart The Italian Sea Group, the end result had to be style and performance. The Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is all about the power of ‘63’. Designed and built to celebrate the year 1963 when Ferruccio Lamborghini founded his car company, the 63-footer delivers a whiplashing top speed of 63 knots (72.5 mph). And naturally, it’s one of just 63 in the series that will ever be made. Built out of carbon fiber, it’s fitted with two MAN V12-2000HP engines. MMA fighter Conor McGregor took delivery of hull number one in 2020, which reportedly cost $4 million.

6. ‘Chato’ | 71.9 mph

Back in the mid-1980s, passionate Baglietto customer and leading US Porsche and VW dealer Baron John von Neumann, commissioned a new 85-ft. speed demon from the Italian builder. The entrepreneur was tired of his 34-knot (39-mph) Baglietto getting creamed from Monaco to St. Tropez by faster cruisers. With a hull design by the legendary Alcide Sculati, the all-aluminum  Chato  came with MTU’s latest 3,480hp V16s coupled to KaMeWa waterjets. Weighing 60 tons, and packing almost 7,000 hp, the military-looking superyacht with its battleship-gray paint and bright-red diagonal hull stripes, hit an astonishing top speed of 62.5 knots (71.9 mph) during sea trials.  Chato  is currently for sale in the South of France for $715,000.

Oci Ciornie’s Vripack-designed interior may take inspiration from aircraft designs, but it’s the boat’s naval architecture by Don Shead and the combination of two 1,800hp MTU 16V 2000 M90 engines, a 4,600 hp AVCO Lycoming gas turbine and Arneson surface drives that put it on this list. Delivered in 1998 by Palmer Johnson with an aluminum hull, the 82-foot boat thrusts through water at 60 knots (69.04 mph), giving all eight guests the waterborne ride of their lives.

8. ‘Destriero’ | 68 mph

The numbers almost defy logic. With a length of 224 feet, the all-aluminum superyacht  Destriero  is massive. Now add a trio of GE Aviation LM1600 gas turbines totaling an insane 60,000 hp and the incredulity only increases. Flat out,  Destriero  could scythe through waves at a staggering 59 knots, or 68 mph. Back in 1992, just one year after its launch, the Fincantieri-built rocketship showed its chops by challenging the famous Blue Riband trans-Atlantic speed record. Averaging 53.09 knots for the 3,106 nautical-mile run,  Destriero  shattered the record, only to be denied the trophy for being classed as a private yacht and not a commercial passenger vessel. Sadly, today the iconic yacht lies largely abandoned at one of Lurssen’s yards in Germany, awaiting rescue.

9. ‘Ermis²’ | 65.59 mph

Some yachts feature slippery hull designs, others are propelled by rockets, but the McMullen & Wing-built  Ermis²  is one of the fastest yachts on the superyacht circuit thanks to its lightweight materials. Built from a combination of carbon/epoxy, aerospace grade carbon fiber and titanium, the 123-foot boat taps out at 57 knots (65.59 mph.) Delivered in 2007, its 10,944 horsepower comes from three MTU 16V 4000 M90 engines. Designed inside and out by Rob Humphreys, its classic looks disguise the speed demon within.

10. ‘Why Not U’ | 63.3 mph

Why Not U  is a yacht that comfortably cruises at 47 knots (54.1 mph)—a speed most owners only dream of reaching. When time is of the essence, the boat cranks up its Vericor TF40 gas turbine engines to max out at 55 knots (63.3 mph). Delivered by Overmarine in 2001,  Why Not U ’s 4.3-foot draft makes it well suited for cruising shallow waters, while its sunbathing areas allow guests to catch some rays traveling at the speed of light.

11. ‘Alamshar’ | 52 mph

Alamshar  is another custom collaboration between Donald Blount and Pininfarina commissioned by Aga Khan IV, this time with interiors by Redman Whiteley Dixon. It was reportedly built for an estimated $200 million at the Devonport shipyard in Falmouth, United Kingdom, and took 13 years to complete. When it was eventually delivered in 2014, Alamshar’s top speed of 45 knots (51.78 mph), generated by twin Rolls-Royce Marine engines and three waterjets, seemed worth the wait.

12. ‘Moon Goddess’ | 51.78 mph

Exterior designed by Espen Øino with an interior by Franco Zuretti, the all-aluminum Moon Goddess is a 115-foot yacht with a turquoise hull that matches the color of its oversized leather sunpads. When cruising at 30 knots (34.52 mph) or tearing up the oceans at 45 knots (51.78 mph), most other boats just catch a glimpse of sea spray that the planing yacht leaves in its wake. It’s powered by twin MTU 16V 4000 M90 diesel engines with twin water jets, which generate a combined 7,498 hp.

13. ‘Azzam’ | 35.7 mph

At a staggering 590 feet bow-to-stern, the Lurssen-built  Azzam  earns the title of world’s longest privately owned gigayacht. But with its remarkable-for-the-size top speed of 31 knots (35.7 mph), it’s also the fastest. Twin 12,000hp MTU V20 turbo-diesels do the day-to-day powering at up to 18 knots (20.7 mph). But crank up the twin GE LM2500 gas turbines, coupled to four Wartsila waterjets, and there’s a staggering 94,000hp on tap. Of course, like  Azzam ‘s original owner, it helps if you own a few oil wells: At max speed, the yacht reportedly burns 13 tons of fuel an hour. Launched in 2013 at a reported cost of some $600 million,  Azzam  accommodates 30 guests pampered by up to 80 crew.

Best tender garage boats: 4 of the best options on the secondhand market

  • Top stories

Owning a small inflatable tender adds an entirely different dimension to boating. Our used boat expert Nick Burnham picks out four of the best tender garage boats.

Having an inflatable tender is not just about convenient ship-to-shore transport when you’re in the middle of a harbour, or access to the beach when anchored in a cove.

A decent tender is something your children can play with (and hone their own boating skills on) and something you can go exploring the shallows or little creeks with.

The problem comes when you have a smaller boat, and dragging a sopping wet inflatable aboard, deflating it and wrestling it into its storage bag becomes a chore that largely outweighs the fun such a vessel offers.

Having tender garage boat solves this issue. Here is our pick of the best tender garage boats.

Princess v48.

Built: 2017 Price: £695,000

Princess had a V48 in the range before, but the nomenclature and the fact that it floated were about the only similarities. The new model, launched in 2013, was the first pod-drive boat from Princess, something the manufacturer combined with every trick in its armoury to create a boat that was substantially larger.

The big news was a full-beam master cabin, the first sub-50ft Princess sportscruiser to get one. In fact, even the forward cabin, now relegated to guest cabin status compared with the forward master of the original version, was larger than the previous boat as well as featuring scissor berths as an option. Between them, the large dinette opposite the galley could be swapped for a third cabin when the boat was ordered, but it was a rare option.

Behind the galley and dinette is a full-beam master – the first sub-50ft Princess to get one

Outside, you could choose from two versions, a deck saloon which puts a fully enclosed large saloon on the main deck, or a more traditional Open derivative, which stretches a cockpit beneath an open-backed hardtop for maximum day space. It’s this model you must choose if you want the garage, the deck saloon doesn’t have one. Hidden beneath the aft sunpads, it will easily accommodate a Williams 325.

Performance

Whichever version you chose, the engines were the same: a pair of Volvo Penta IPS600 pod drive motors which utilised the 435hp version of the 5.5 litre Volvo Penta D6 engine. The top speed should be more than 30 knots, but only with clean pods – efficiency drops quickly as they foul.

High sides mean that a Princess V48 can catch the wind when manoeuvring at low speeds, but IPS has the answer in the form of a joystick that powers the boat in any direction you choose, even completely sideways. Out at sea, it’s a capable performer with low noise levels that make it a great cruising boat.

Windy 39 camira.

Built: 2015 Price: £345,000

With a 40 Maestro sportscruiser already in the range when the 39 Camira launched in 2014, the manufacturer was free to create what is unashamedly a driver’s machine. It is pure, undiluted Windy – very fast, very capable and very well put together.

If you think of the 39 Camira as the ultimate cuddy cabin sportsboat , its lower deck layout makes perfect sense. There is no pretence at seating, with nowhere to sit and relax at all.

And there’s no galley either, just a small utility area that houses a fridge (two on earlier boats) and a microwave. The payoff is two really decent cabins – far larger and more comfortable than you might expect from the sleek external profile, and a large heads with a separate shower stall.

best-tender-garage-boats-Windy-Camira-39-cockpit

With no sidedecks, access to the foredeck is through an opening section of the windscreen next to the helm

The cockpit is what this boat is all about. Full beam its entire length (to access the foredeck you step up and through the opening windscreen, there are no side decks at all), there’s an entirely driver-focussed helm with a double-drop bolster seat plus a third seat adjacent.

Originally the boat came with two semicircular seats (that could slide together on tracks) facing a bench seat aft, but Windy later launched the version you see here with a more conventional C-shaped seat around a table.

This second version also gets a larger garage, allowing a 2.4 metre inflatable to be stowed. In both cases, catering is done via a wet bar and since this is also effectively the saloon, an easy to deploy canopy lifts into place over it and power tensions once you clip the sides in place.

Windy initially offered twin D6 engines with either 370hp or 400hp, although it’s hard to imagine anyone choosing the former (and indeed, no one did). The 400hp motors pushed the top speed into the mid 40 knots.

The later version of the Windy 39 Camira has a larger tender garage that will house a 2.4m inflatable

A 24-degree deadrise at the transom indicates a very deep-vee hull and gifts the boat tremendous ability. Ultimately it’s not how fast it is that impresses, but the way the speed is maintained as conditions deteriorate.

Fairline Targa 40 yacht tour: This sleek sportscruiser is larger on the inside

Video: windy 39 camira – used boat review, fairline targa 40.

Built: 2015 Price: £159,950

Launched in 2001, Fairline ’s new Targa 40 replaced the previous Targa 37. The basic two-cabin twin-diesel family sportscruiser layout remained, but that extra few feet allowed the builder to incorporate something the 37 never had – a tender garage.

Often referred to as the “golden period”, early noughties Fairlines are always exquisitely finished, and the Targa 40 is no exception, a feast of rich, highly polished cherrywood, pale leather and brushed stainless steel greet you as you descend to the lower deck.

The layout doesn’t throw up any surprises – a central double bed awaits you in the forward cabin with space for two guests aft in the mid cabin in beds that run transversely beneath the cockpit. The dinette opposite the galley can be used as extra sleeping space. The heads features a rotating shower screen.

fairline-targa-40-interior

The dinette offers extra sleeping space when needed for guests

The cockpit is a surprisingly good size considering the space-sapping tender garage aft (you gain some of the length back by not needing a bathing platform long enough to take a tender).

Cunningly, Fairline has left the sunpad on top of the garage fairly short, but equipped the aft cockpit seat with a backrest that folds forward so that you can sacrifice seating for lounging when the mood takes you.

Twin Volvo Penta KAD44 (260hp) or KAD300 (300hp) were the motors of choice when this boat was first launched. We tested it with the smaller motors and achieved about 32 knots in some pretty testing conditions – Fairline claimed 35 knots on flat seas.

But in 2005 Volvo Penta launched its D Series range, and the larger and more powerful D6 350hp engines fitted to this boat ought to push 40 knots.

fairline-targa-40-helm

Despite its age the Targa 40 still rates as one of the great Fairline sportscruiser hulls

Those testing conditions (force five with a large residual swell) gave ample opportunity to check out the sea-keeping. “A joy to drive,” is how we described it on our test. “Try as we might, we couldn’t get the boat to jump or skip, except off the top of the larger swells.”

LOA: 41ft 6in (12.6m) Beam: 12ft 0in (3.7m) Draught: 3ft 2in (1.0m) Displacement: 8 tonnes Fuel capacity: 746 litres Engines: Volvo Penta D6-350 350hp diesel engines Contact: JD Yachts

best-tender-garage-boats-cranchi-endurance-41-exterior

Cranchi 41 Endurance

Built: 2009 Price: £129,000

The Cranchi 41 Endurance lives up to its name, having evolved from the successful 39 Endurance, a boat that dates back to 1994. The most obvious difference is a forward sloping arch rather than the original’s rearward inclined arch, but the bathing platform is also longer. It’s a sportscruiser with the emphasis firmly on the “sport”.

Despite being over 40ft long, Cranchi eschewed the traditional two-cabin interior with a separate sleeping cabin at either end. Instead, Cranchi opted to leave the bulk of the accommodation open plan with a big horseshoe of seating forward that converts to an occasional double and just the one separate mid-cabin aft. If you really need two cabins, this boat isn’t for you but if you only need one, this is a great layout.

cranchi-endurance-41-interior

The open plan seating feels huge and converts into a double but there’s only one separate cabin

Despite a design that now dates back over a quarter of a century (or perhaps because of it), the 41 Endurance has lines that look just right. Sleek and well balanced, with a beautiful sweep of stainless steel windscreen frame, it’s one of those boats that looks like it’s doing 30 knots while still in the dock.

Three forward facing seats at the helm is a rare and welcome bonus, although the lounging area is a little cramped. However, the payoff is a sun lounger, and beneath it a shallow garage capable of swallowing a 2.4m inflatable.

The upgrades from 39 to 41 were not all cosmetic. The launch of the new boat coincided with the introduction of Volvo’s new D Series engines, together with drives capable of handling more power.

So rather than a pair of perfectly sufficient KAD series that topped out at 285hp with the KAD 300, the 41 pilot could enjoy twin D6 motors that topped out at 370hp for a top speed in excess of 40 knots!

cranchi-endurance-41-cockpit

There are three helm seats and a sunpad but the main dinette feels a bit tight as a result

Uncompromised by the need for that forward cabin, Cranchi has been able to keep the forward hull sections sharp, allowing the performance of the hull to match the performance of the engines.

LOA: 42ft 6in (13.0m) Beam: 11ft 5in (3.5m) Draught: 2ft 10in (0.9m) Displacement: 7 tonnes Fuel capacity: 780 litres Engines: Twin Volvo Penta D6-370 370hp diesels Contact: One Marine

Palm Beach International Boat Show

For superyacht shoppers, the Palm Beach International Boat Show, kicking off its four-day run this week, is set to break records with more than 60 yachts over 100 feet long on display. Last year was also a banner year for superyachts at the show.

Headliners will include the likes of the 295-foot Corsair Nero ,  the 278-foot Victorious by AKYacht, the 230-foot Turquoise-built Talisman C , and 213-foot Benetti Triumph among brokerage yachts, and in new yachts, the 113-foot Ocean Alexander Puro 35 is making its world debut.

There are so many gleaming white vessels over 100 feet, in fact, that the fleet will be split between the Palm Harbor Marina at the main show site on the downtown West Palm Beach waterfront and the Safe Harbor Rybovich Marina two miles north.

Now in its 42nd year, PBIBS will also showcase hundreds of models of dayboats, cruisers, and fishing boats, as well as marine accessories. Running from this Thursday through Sunday, the show coincides with the Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary art show, a fortuitous opportunity for yacht owners wanting to add new art to their collections.

Here are 10 must-see boats at this year’s show.

Corsair Yachts ‘Nero’

yacht with speed boat garage

The undisputed star of this year’s Palm Beach show? That would be the 295-foot, classically styled superyacht Nero , built in 2007 and inspired by American financier J.P. Morgan’s legendary 1930s steamer Corsair IV . Nero ‘s attendance at PBIBS marks its return to the charter market after an extensive refit in 2021. Now better than new, the boat is being managed by Burgess. With weekly charter rates from $497,000, the vessel offers five-star accommodations for 12 guests in six cabins, with pampering from a crew of 20. Part of the refit included a full interior refresh by Italian interior designer Laura Pomponi, plus a major focus on wellness. That meant the construction of a new, state-of-the-art gym and spa, the assistance of a certified onboard trainer, a masseuse and beautician. After PBIBS, Nero will spend the winter in the Caribbean before returning to the Med for the summer season.

Ocean Alexander Puro 35P

yacht with speed boat garage

Ocean Alexander is debuting the first of its new Puro superyacht series at PBIBS. The 113-foot Puro 35P comes from the drawing board of Italian designer Giorgio M. Cassetta and is a step back from the polarizing lines of OA’s recent Revolution and Explorer series with their bold, vertical bow designs. Aimed at long-distance cruising, the 35P can carry over 5,000 gallons of fuel and is powered by twin 2,000 hp MAN V12s for a 24-knot top speed. Twin 55kW Kohler generators can also keep the yacht powered at anchor for long periods. Other standout features include extensive glazing in the chiseled fiberglass hull, a forward deck plunge pool, and spacious accommodations for 10 guests.

Think of it as the “starter” Sirena. Aimed at a younger demographic, the Turkish builder’s brand-new Sirena 48 is making its U.S. debut at PBIBS after a global reveal at last fall’s Cannes boat show. Such is its appeal that 27 hulls have already been sold, with 13 of the orders coming from North America. Looking like a scaled-down version of Sirena’s popular 58, its distinctive, trawler-style lines are from Argentinian designer Germán Frers. With more interior space than a typical 48-footer, the yacht offers three staterooms—plus a crew cabin—a spacious, light-filled salon, a large cockpit, an oversized flybridge, and a vast forward social area. Take your pick from twin 550 hp Cummins QSB, or 670 hp Volvo D11 turbo diesels. Or the builder is also offering hybrid power with twin 285 hp electric motors charged up by variable-speed generators that are good for a 30-mile battery-only range.

Feadship ‘Olympus’

yacht with speed boat garage

Picture purchasing a classic 180-foot Feadship superyacht, and then getting a $10 million bill for a major refit. That was the case with Olympus , built by the Dutch masters at Feadship in 1996 to a design by Britain’s Andrew Winch and the celebrated naval architect Frits De Voogt. Sold in 2022, the new owner sent it to the Monaco Marine refit center in La Ciotat, France for a major makeover. It included overhauling the 2,600 hp Caterpillar engines and generators, repairs to the structure, substantial upgrades to the guest areas and crew quarters, and new paint throughout. With the work completed just last year, the vessel is said to be in mint condition. Offered jointly by brokers Fraser and Edmiston, Olympus has an asking price of $28.5 million. With accommodations for 16 guests in eight cabins, the boat’s highlights include two primary suites, tropical-spec air conditioning, and Palm Beach-chic decor.

Benetti ‘Triumph’

yacht with speed boat garage

Italian yachting powerhouse Benetti is showing off its superyacht-building skills with the 213-foot Triumph . Delivered in 2021, this Giorgio M. Cassetta-designed steel-and-aluminum world girder features six decks, a 1,400-square-foot primary suite with outdoor terrace and adjoining lounge, a 750-square-foot beach club, and a touch-and-go helipad. What sets Triumph apart, however, is its lavish interior furnishings put together by the owner along with Benetti Interior Style and Monaco-based Green & Mingarelli Design. It includes pieces by French glassmaker Lalique, marble from Marfil, Statuario and Armani, furs, silk and wool carpets, plus a collection of cool black-and-white wildlife photographs by British fine art photographer David Yarrow. The pièce de résistance? That would be the owner’s Triumph Bonneville motorcycle displayed in the salon.

Fjord 39 XP/XL

yacht with speed boat garage

Germany’s Fjord Yachts, part of the Hanse Group, has a new 39-foot day boat that it’s unveiling at the Palm Beach show. The 39 XP and XL keep all the bold design cues of the bigger Fjord 41 XP and XL, like a big, open cockpit, walkaround center console, vertical bow, mile-high windshield and stretched hardtop. As for the differences between the XP and XL, it’s all about power. The XL comes with a choice of twin 320hp Volvo D4 diesels, or bigger 440 hp D6 versions, both with Volvo stern drives. Likely more appealing to U.S. buyers will be the XP powered by twin 400 hp Mercury Verado V10 outboards giving a 50-knot top speed. Pricing starts at around $500,000.

Turquoise ‘Talisman C’

yacht with speed boat garage

Chandeliers don’t come more dramatic than this. Cascading down the central spiral staircase of the Turkish-built, 231-foot superyacht Talisman C , this jaw-dropping piece of art comprises an array of multi-colored glass balls threaded on stainless-steel rods and illuminated by hanging fiber-optic strands. It’s the creation of Prague-based Crystal Caviar and is one of a number of glass installations on this sleek, low-profile superyacht. Built in 2011 by the Proteksan Turquoise shipyard, Talisman C was designed inside and out by London-based studio H2 Yacht Design, with naval architecture by Italy’s Hydro Tec. With cabins for 12 guests, one of its highlights is a huge primary suite, which boasts more crystal chandeliers and a private library. Twin 2,447 hp Caterpillar diesels give a top speed of 18 knots and a transatlantic range of 7,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. It’s listed with Burgess for $59.9 million.

Sanlorenzo 44 ‘Kamakasa’

yacht with speed boat garage

Delivered in 2020 and sold to a new buyer just last August, the 146-foot Sanlorenzo 44 Alloy Kamakasa will be for sale at PBIBS. The asking price, through the Italian Yacht Group, is $23.75 million. Lack of use might also be the issue here; the yacht’s twin 2,600 hp MTU V16 diesels have a mere 289 hours on the clock. Built in aluminum to a design by Rome-based Zuccon International Project, Kamakasa was the second hull in the Sanlorenzo 44 Alloy series. One of the top features is a primary suite that spans three levels and almost 1,600 square feet; it also comes with a private Jacuzzi, separate bathrooms, a walk-in closet, and a private study. The yacht’s lightweight construction and MTU power combine to deliver an impressive 20-knot top speed.

Bahama 41 GT2

yacht with speed boat garage

As ultimate, reel-’em-in, fishing center consoles go, the Bahama 41 from West Palm Beach-based Bahama Boat Works is as hard-core as they come. But when owners kept asking for a little more comfort for the family, the builder responded. The result is the brand-new flagship 41 GT debuting at PBIBS. While the proven, wave-slicing hull stays the same, the cockpit layout is new. In place of the single bench seat, there are now three-across bucket seats with a second row behind. The wider console now has space for a pair of 22-inch Garmin screens, while the new extended hardtop features sun shades and even a rain shower. Outboard choices stay the same with either twin Mercury V12 600s, or four 400 hp Mercury V10s, good for a 65-knot-plus top speed. Pricing is from around $920,000.

Heesen ‘Book Ends’

yacht with speed boat garage

Launched in 2022, this 164-foot Heesen is part of the Book Ends collection, owned by an American couple who have had more than 18 yachts with the same name. The exterior design of this Heesen was by Omega Architects, while Dutch studio Van Oossanen did the naval architecture. The yacht is part of Heesen’s fast cruising series, which is more efficient than other vessels its size, and can reach 23 knots at full speed with its MTU 16V 4000 M65L engines. The yacht is listed through Ocean Independence for 42 million Euro, or about $45.7 million.

What Size Boats Can Fit in a Garage (Popular Examples)

store boat in garage

This article will detail what boat sizes are suitable to what sized garage as well as proper boat storage techniques in terms of how much room your boat should have.

We will also detail how you can determine boat type and class to decide if this boat can fit into your garage more quickly.

Garages and boats can come in a myriad of sizes that might make it difficult to determine the perfect match. Ultimately, if you have a one or two-car garage that measures 12×22 feet to 20×22 feet, you can fit most Class A and Class I boats. A three-car garage ranging from 32×22 feet to 40×30 feet can fit all Class A and Class I boats and some Class II boats.

Read on to learn more about which different classes of boats can fit in various sized garages.

Determining Boat Type and Class

It is important to know what class your boat is before determining what sized garage it can fit into. Boats can be split into two categories, their class and their type.

Know Your Boat Type

There are two ways to determine your boat type. The first is how the boat is powered. This can include:

  • Unpowered/man-powered boats (ex. rafts, gondolas, kayaks, etc.)
  • Sail-propelled (ex. Sailboats)
  • Engine-powered (ex. Motorboats)

The second way is the vast array of styles within this classification, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Fishing Boat
  • Dinghy Boat
  • Cabin Cruisers
  • Bowrider Boat
  • Pontoon Boat
  • Centre Console Boat
  • Sport Fishing Yacht

Knowing your type of boat might be a quick way to determine whether or not it can fit in your garage. Although these boats’ sizes can vary, some styles are almost always bigger or smaller than others. Of course, the easiest way to determine its size is to know what class it’s in.

Know Your Boat Class

Knowing your boat class is ultimately the easiest way to determine if it can fit into your garage. This is because boat class is strictly dependent on the boat’s measurements, which you can compare to your garage measurements.

If you’re putting your boat into your garage, it is likely part of a smaller boat class. There are five boat classes , which are demonstrated below, along with their specified measurements.

You’re likely to know the type of boat you are purchasing before you know its class, but it is always smart to check the class first and know what this means in terms of size before attempting to put it into your garage.

Boats That Fit in a One-Car Garage

Although it is not the most common garage option, many properties come with a one-car garage. However, it is not unlikely that these are detached garages, meaning they are most likely located next to or behind the home instead of attached to it.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a “standard-sized” garage. Most garage measurements are determined by the style and model of the home or the state/region that the garage is built, so be aware of this when determining if your boat can fit.

On the other hand, there are average sizes for each type of garage, and for a one-car garage, the average is 12 feet wide and 22 feet deep. However, there are several other common one-car garage sizes, such as 14 x 22, 16 x 24, and 14 x 24, in addition to customized sizes.

Since these garages are the smallest, you’re most likely going to only fit a Class A boat in the average-sized one-car garage and some Class I boats in the other common sized one-car garage. Luckily , 95% of registered mechanically-propelled boats are less than 26 feet in length , which means they will easily fit into these garages.

Boats That Fit in a Two Car Garage

Two-car garages are likely the most common property garages and can vastly increase the list of boat types you can store within. You can either decide to use this garage to store one Class A or Class I boat in addition to a single car, or you can dedicate it solely to a larger vessel.

On average, a two-car garage measures 18-feet wide by 20 feet deep with other common sizes including 20 x 20, 22 x 22, and 20 x 22. Although these measurements still constitute storing a Class A or Class I boat in terms of length, it allows you to potentially store two appropriately sized boats within the same garage in addition to storing wider boats that you couldn’t store in a 12-foot wide one car garage.

The width of a boat, also referred to as its beam, allows maximum stability. Small, slim boats might be good for speed and traveling narrow massages, such as small rivers and streams. However, boats with more beam are much more stable and often more spacious.

The boats mentioned here often have an average beam of 8.5 feet unless they nearly double the maximum Class I length. They are exceptional choices to accommodate a small group or provide maximum space for a pair of sailors.

Boats That Fit in a Three Car Garage

Three car garages can be difficult to come by, but when you find one, jump on it because boat storage is much less of an issue.

If you want a boat that can easily accommodate a party or a large family, you’ll want to make sure you have a three-car garage before purchasing your vessel.

Compared to the one and two-car garages that typically cap-out at a depth of 20-22 feet, three-car garages can sometimes offer up to an extra eight feet for longer boats. They also tend to be much wider, so you can easily turn your boat and store it sideways.

On average, a three-car garage measures 32-feet wide by 22-feet deep with other common options including 36 x 25 feet, 38 x 26 feet, and 40 x 30 feet. This means that as long as you are storing your boat sideways to fill the garage’s width, you can easily move up to Class II boats.

Below are some classic Class II boats that you could store only in a three-car garage. Typically, if boats exceed this class, they need to be stored in a large storage unit or a marina.

Standard Garage Sizes And Boat Lengths

Not everyone owns an average two-car garage. For people who don’t fall into this category, here are some of the average garage sizes and lengths of boats that fill fit within them.

Average Garage Sizes And Boat Lengths

The length of the boat is determined by taking into consideration the added length of the trailer.

You also need to take into consideration the height of the boat on a trailer. This will differ with the type of boat you have. Most garages only have 7ft doors, so you need to keep this in mind.

Will an 18-Foot Boat Fit In a Garage?

As you can see from the chart above, an 18-foot boat can fit in almost any type of garage. Even the smallest average garages can accommodate an 18-foot boat backed straight into them.

As long as the height of the boat on the trailer does not exceed the height of the garage door (typically 7 feet), you should have no problems storing your boat.

Will My Bass Boat Fit In My Garage?

Bass boats are great for fishing, but can you easily store them once your off the water?

The size of your bass boat determines how big of a garage you will need to store it. You can either purchase a:

  • Larger bass boat (18 to 19 feet long)
  • Smaller bass boat (16 to 17 feet long)

On a trailer, a bass boat is typically around 6 feet tall. Therefore it should fit within any regular-sized garage door.

How To Safely Store  Bass Boats

To safely store your bass boat, the garage it is stored in should:

  • Be 2-3 feet wider than the width of the boat and trailer
  • Be 1-3 feet longer than the length of the boat and trailer
  • Have a door that is at least 1 foot higher than the height of the boat and trailer

Anything smaller than this leads to the risk of damaging your boat or trailer when backing it in or removing it.

So, for smaller boats, your garage should be at least 18 feet long and at least 20 feet long for larger ones.

How Tall Should a Garage Door Be For a Pontoon Boat?

Since pontoon boats can vary in size, the answer to this question varies.

If you’re looking to store your pontoon boat in your garage, you will need to measure the height of it with the bimini down. With this measurement, you can then determine the height the garage door needs to be.

Typically, the garage door needs to be at least a foot higher than the pontoon. The average pontoon will fit just fine with this clearance within a 7-foot garage door if the bimini is down.

How Much Length Does a Trailer Add to a Boat?

A trailer adds about two feet to a boat.

The trailer must be big enough to support the boat. To make sure your trailer is big enough for your boat, you should measure from the end of the hull’s running surface to the farthest point at the bow.

What Are the Best Boats for Garages?

Not all boats are going to fit into your garage. Some are better suited than others for garage storage. Which boats are the best for garages though?

Best Boats for One-Car Garages

If you own a one-car garage, consider investing in one of these smaller types of boats.

  • Bowrider boat
  • Centre Console boat
  • Wakeboard boat

Bowrider boats are considered family boats due to their swim platform and room for eight or more passengers. They are great for family trips to the lake.

Centre console boats are great for fishing. With the helm station in the center of the boat, this boat works great in harsh offshore waterways.

Wakeboard boats are great for, you guessed it,  wakeboarding. If your someone who loves to wakeboard, this is probably the right choice for you.

These boats tend to be smaller and can fit within a single car garage. However, you can buy them in larger lengths, so be careful that the length you choose does not exceed your garage’s limits.

Best Boats For Two-Car Garages

If you own a two-car garage, you can of course easily fit the above-suggested boats within it. However, you can also fit boats that have a slightly higher average size such as:

  • Pontoon boat

A deck boat is a great boat for swimming and different water sports. It has an open deck seating area to accommodate a small group of people. It averages between 25-35 feet long, so just be sure to get one that fits your specific garage’s limits.

Pontoon boats are very popular. Due to this, they come in a large range of sizes. Most commonly though, you will find pontoons between 15 to 30 feet long, making them a great candidate for two-car garages.

The other benefit of two-car garages is that you can store smaller boats backed straight in, allowing for the use of the other side of your garage still.

Best Boats For Three-Car Garages

With a three-car garage, you can go even bigger with your boats. A few boats to consider for this sized garage include:

  • Cabin cruisers
  • Catamaran boats
  • Motor yachts

You can find smaller cabin cruisers that will fit on a trailer within your garage. You may need a larger garage door opening though. It all depends on the type you get.

Catamaran boats can be stored within larger three-car garages. These boats are great for both fishing and leisure purposes.

Motor yachts are a type of yacht that is at least 40 feet in length. They are great for just about any type of water recreation.

Alternatives to Storing Your Boat In a Garage

carports can be a good option for storing boats

If your boat is too big for your garage or you simply do not have space, you can consider a few different storage options.

Alternative Indoor Storage Options

Indoor storage options to consider besides your garage are:

  • Dry stacked storage
  • Self-storage facility

Dry stacked racks keep your boat safe inside a warehouse with other boats, but you may not always have access to your boat when you want to use it.

Self-storage facilities allow for you to easily access your boat whenever you want but sometimes are not big enough for larger boats.

Alternative Outdoor Storage Options

Outdoor storage options to consider include:

  • Covered boat storage at a storage facility
  • Covered up at a self-storage facility
  • In your driveway covered up
  • On a marina slip
  • On a boat lift

A storage facility that offers outdoor covered storage is more cost-effective than an indoor storage facility but results in less protection of your boat since it is only partially covered.

A self-storage facility is similar to covering up your boat and leaving it in your driveway, except you leave it at the facility.

If you live somewhere where it’s always warm, you can consider storing your boat in a marina. This gives you immediate access to the water but with higher risks of damage to your boat.

A boat-lift allows you to store your boat at a marina while keeping it dry. However, this method is best for just short-term storage.

Final Thoughts

Garages are fantastic for storing boats because they can keep them out of the elements and protect them from any sort of dirt or debris, especially if they are covered.

Since these purchases are so expensive, it is best to store your Class A, Class I, and even some Class II boats in your garage.

One reason is that it is cheaper to store them here for free rather than to pay for a unit or marina spot.

Your garage also allows easy access to your boat for maintenance and a quick trip to the water whenever you like.

Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly gifted himself a $300 million megayacht, dubbed “Launchpad,” ahead of his 40th birthday.

The staggering 387-foot-long vessel was seen floating at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., after arriving at its berth earlier this week, The Sun reported Thursday.

The multi-layered luxury ship’s sleek exterior was designed by Espen Øino International and boasts a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, according to SuperYacht Times.

Reportedly ranking as the 45th largest yacht in the world, the interiors are just as aesthetically pleasing and reportedly executed by Zuretti Interior Design company, a France-based company specializing in unique and custom yacht design.

The breathtakingly beautiful floater stands out with a navy blue theme matching an American flag perched proudly on its wood-paneled stern.

Boatworld insiders have been buzzing with speculation that Zuckerberg is the owner of the newly minted mega-cruise ever since it made its main voyage from the Netherlands last week.

The tech titan was spotted touring the Russian-commissioned megayacht in early March, though the impressive boat didn’t arrive stateside until this week due to sanctions, according to The Sun.

The website reported that Zuckerberg purchased the pricey yacht – along with its own $30 million partner boat — most likely as an early 40th birthday present to himself.

The boat reportedly traveled to Florida after being granted special permission to be imported just weeks ahead of Zuckerberg’s birthday on May 14.

Zuckerberg’s yacht is just 30 feet shorter than the length of fellow billionaire Jeff Bezos’ 417-foot megayacht Koru, which the Amazon boss snagged for a whopping $500 million.

Zuckerberg’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

  • The Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off later this week.
  • Eight megayachts are expected to be on display for would-be buyers and charter customers.
  • These are the show's biggest yachts — and how many millions of dollars they are going for.

Insider Today

The Palm Beach International Boat Show — the yacht world's flashiest event stateside — is returning this year with over 800 boats for both deep-pocketed potential owners and window shoppers to peruse.

While it's impossible to know what exactly will be on display until the show begins on Thursday, it's expected that eight megayachts — generally defined as ships over 60 meters long — will be docked at the show and at nearby marinas like the Rybovich Marina in the ritzy Florida town.

Some of these are for sale at eye-popping prices, but others are available to charter in case you fancy living like a billionaire for a week or two this summer (and if you have six figures to spare on a vacation).

These are the eight biggest yachts that will be at the Palm Beach International Boat Show and nearby marinas, in size order.

Nero: 90.1 meters

Price: From $497,000 a week (charter) Standout features: Pizza ovens, beauty salon, massage room, resistance pool

She now boasts a gym on her sundeck with multiple cardio machines and a beauty salon, and has an on-board beautician for manicure, pedicure, hair, and massage needs. There's also an upgraded movie theater, two new pizza ovens, and both a pool and a jacuzzi.

For those who want to go overboard, she has more than a dozen toys, including a waterslide, Jet Ski, and flyboard.

Victorious brings a party vibe to the yacht show. With a beach club on board, a wine cellar, a cigar clubroom , multiple bars, and a lounge with a piano, the vessel is made for entertaining. Plus, there's a playroom and movie theater to entertain the kids.

For tamer charter clients, Victorious has a suite of wellness features such as a gym, massage room, beauty salon and hammam — perhaps a custom request of her owner, Turkish businessman Vural Ak.

She also boasts a treasure trove of water toys, including Jet Skis, jetsurfs, inflatable kayaks, and scuba equipment.

Casino Royale: 72 meters

Price: TBD Special Features: Infinity pool, helipad, private jacuzzi

Talisman C: 70.6 meters

Price: $60 million (or from $567,000 a week to charter) Special features: Massage and beauty room, private library

Likely the largest yacht for sale (not just charter) at the show, the Talisman C is a 2011 six-bedroom boat. The owner's cabin comes with an en suite bathroom, dressing room, private library, and crystal chandeliers.

Amenities include a gym, a beauty room, oversized jacuzzi, and a fully equipped bar. Her crew of 19 includes a trained masseuse, and the toy room comes equipped with a wakeboard, eFoil , and WaveRunners.

Superyacht Joy testifies to the fact that owners want as many on-board experiences as they can get.

There's an expansive suite of fitness features, including a basketball court (don't shoot that hoop too hard!), a personal trainer on staff, boxing equipment, and a handful of machines. For post-workout winddowns, there's a spa with a steam room and onboard masseuse. And for entertainment, there's both an outdoor and indoor cinema, and a disco club.

Triumph: 65.4 meters

Price: From $707,600 a week in the summer and $650,000 a week in the winter Special features: Sauna, helipad, banana boat

This 2021 superyacht is named after Triumph motorcycles — a reported favorite of her rumored owner, British businessman Chris Dawson — and even has one on display as an art piece in the upper deck's lounge. The primary suite is 1,400 square feet and has its own study , and there's a sauna, an indoor-outdoor gym, a helipad, and a massage room spread among her six decks.

She boasts an "armada of water toys," including two kinds of Jet Skis, electric water bikes, and a banana boat.

Seanna: 64.5 meters

Price: $54,000,000 (or from $462,000 a week to charter) Special features: marble foyer, movie room, sundeck pool

The recently refurbished Seanna is available for sale and charter.

Her indoor-outdoor gym is on sea level so that passengers can take a dip after a session with the onboard personal trainer. There's also a sundeck pool, a helipad, a two-room massage facility, and, for the more cerebral guests, a library with an electric fireplace.

There are a number of toys on board, including a popular water trampoline and two WaveRunners.

Come Together: 60 meters

Price: $65,000,000 Special Features: DJ and videographer on board, ice bath, sauna

Next-to-new yacht Come Together is looking for a new owner after doing charters during the 2023 season.

The Beatles' influence is evident beyond the yacht's name, with guitars dotting the sky lounge and a crewmember who doubles as a DJ. There's also an outdoor cinema and bar for entertainment and an ice bath and sauna for the day after the party. The owner's suite has a private study and lounge, and each guest cabin has its own ensuite.

The sale includes a number of toys, like Jet Skis, kayaks, and Seabobs.
