Press Release: Gust appointed new Managing Director at Hamburg Aviation

After graduating from HAW Hamburg in aeronautical engineering, Ralf Gust gained further qualifications in business management (VWA). From there he went on to senior management positions at various companies, including Yacht|Teccon GmbH & Co. KG, ORANGE Engineering Holding GmbH & Co. KG and Segula Industriehansa. He is also a founding member and treasurer of HECAS e.V., a leading association of engineering companies. On taking up his new position as Managing Director at Hamburg Aviation, Mr Gust will leave his honorary positions at HCAT+ and HECAS.

An experienced manager from the field of aviation engineering services with many years of experience at the interface between education, research, industry and public policy is taking the helm.

“I would like to thank him for his voluntary work up to this point, especially as Chairman of the Board of the Hamburg Centre of Aviation Training-Lab e.V. and as a member of the Board of HECAS Hanseatic Engineering & Consulting Association e.V.. In these roles he co-founded the Qualification Initiative Aviation (2001) and later our aviation cluster agency (2006). Both became benchmark initiatives at national and international level. Ralf Gust’s expertise will help us to meet the challenges of bringing skilled staff into aviation, to manage the ongoing legacy of the Covid pandemic and to master the transformation to a zero-emission industry.”

Dr Georg Fanta, Vice President Aircraft Component Services at Lufthansa Technik and member of the Executive Board of Hamburg Aviation, said: “Hamburg is one of the most important aviation clusters in the world, with a very special mix of aircraft manufacturers; medium-sized equipment suppliers; the world market leader for aircraft maintenance; and regional policymakers that are highly committed to cluster development. Such a unique aviation site needs a strong association to bundle common interests, and I am pleased that with Ralf Gust we have found a managing director who wants to lead this association into the future. I am certain that in him we have found a first-class leader.”

Seit Anfang 2000 bei TECCON, blieben sie der ursprünglichen Philosophie und dem Leistungsanspruch über alle Firmierungen hinweg treu. Als Tochter der Bindan-Gruppe, in der Fusion mit YACHT I TECCON und auch nach der Übernahme durch den Altran-Konzern.

Zusammen mit einem Stammteam aus 100 Ingenieuren und Technikern und zahlreichen Kunden aus der Luft- und Raumfahrt starteten sie mit Standorten in Hamburg, Bremen und Augsburg den Weg in die Selbständigkeit. Schnell wuchs das Team auf über 150 Mitarbeiter an, die Kundeliste verlängerte sich um Mittelständler und Konzerne aus der Luftfahrt, Automobilindustrie, Schifffahrt, Energie oder Datenverarbeitung. Aber auch Handwerksbetriebe wissen die Kompetenz, Qualität und Zuverlässigkeit zu schätzen.

Um die bundesweite Präsenz und vor allem den süddeutschen Standort zu stärken, kaufte TECCON Anfang 2020 die kontech GmbH am Bodensee. Damit erweitert sie ihr Angebot im Bereich Automatisierungs- und Elektrotechnik sowie Maschinen- und Anlagenbau, wächst auf über 250 Ingenieure, Techniker, Wirtschaftswissenschaftler und Informatiker sowie um mehr als 200 namhafte Kunden und drei Standorte in Süddeutschland.

Timmerman Yachts is a Russian builder of quality luxury motor yachts. Based in Moscow, it is owned by a group of Dutch and Russian investors and operates out of Moscow Shipyard. Several noted naval architecture and yacht design firms are involved with Timmerman, including Vripack, Guido de Groot Design, Ginton Naval Architects, Jon Bannenberg Ltd., and Francis Design Ltd.

Founded in 2003, the company was named for 17th century Dutch boat builder Franz Timmerman who brought Dutch boat manufacturing techniques to Russia and co-founded the Russian navy. Timmerman Yachts has more than 1,000 employees working at the Moscow Shipyard.

Timmerman has delivered a number of semi-custom luxury yachts between 26-47 metres in length, including TM26 and Timmerman FD-51, designed by Francis Design Ltd. Other notable Timmerman yachts include Victoria M, Alexandra (now Latitude) and Olsten 125′.

One of the 10 largest yacht builders in the world, Timmerman is focused on building high-quality luxury yachts at more competitive prices. Its Russian-Dutch partnership provides great yacht-building capabilities. Timmerman builds yacht to the highest standards and holds DNV, MCA and Russian River Register certification. The company reportedly has more than a dozen yachts in some phase of construction.
