The world’s second largest superyacht BLUE begins sea trials

Measuring around 160m (525ft), the luxury mega yacht BLUE has left Lürssen’s facilities in Bremen to begin sea trials.

First hitting the water in February 2022 when she made her way to the Bremen facilities for final fit-out, the superyacht is now heading to the North Sea to start her sea trials.

BLUE boasts an impressive volume of 15,320 GT ranking her the second-largest yacht in the world in terms of gross tonnage. She follows shortly behind superyacht DILBAR , who tonnage wise, is the biggest superyacht ever launched with a total volume of 15,917 GT.

While much of the project is still shrouded in secrecy, we do know that superyacht BLUE features naval architecture by Lürssen and that Terence Disdale Design created her sharp-looking exterior and interior design. 

All of the four upper decks feature a sizable alfresco entertaining area and there is also a swimming platform connected to a beach club on board, providing guests with seamless access to the water. Images of the megayacht also reveal a pair of helicopter landing sites; a large helideck at the bow and a smaller helipad aft. 

Expected to be completed later this year, her sea trials mark one step closer to her long-awaited delivery.

The 160-metre yacht BLUE has been given a contemporary exterior and a traditional, fresh interior design, both by Terence Disdale Design. Efficiency and the desire to be as environmentally friendly as possible were key drivers for the technology on board. BLUE is equipped with a highly efficient Diesel-Electric Hybrid Propulsion Concept developed by Lürssen’s own engineering specialists. The yacht also has an electric Azimuth Pod Drive, which in electric mode can be used separately, or when the PTI units are engaged, with the two propeller shafts. In order to generate less noise and vibration and reduce nitrogen oxide levels, BLUE is completed with a state-of-the-art exhaust after-treatment system. Furthermore, the wastewater treatment plant is equipped with new membrane technology that allows the treated wastewater to be safely disposed of in ‘drinking water quality’.

You awake in one of two master suites, one on the upper deck with 180 degree views forward and the other on the main deck. Head for the upper deck aft for a delicious breakfast before settling in the sun lounge aft to discuss the day's plans with the captain. If the morning heat is too intense, start the day in the air conditioned main saloon at the formal dining table and make plans in the lounge opposite.

After breakfast, the children race eagerly down to the portside swim platform where the deck crew has prepared all the watertoys for a morning adrenaline rush. Other guests may choose to work out in the gym, or for an easier start to the day, head for the sauna and hammam where there is a massage table too.

In the afternoon, while the captain sails you to the next amazing destination, enjoy a movie in the main deck cinema lounge or catch up on some emails in the private owner's office on the bridge deck.

As dusk falls in your new anchorage, take in the spectacular sunset with a sundowner in the foredeck lounge and toast another amazing day before sampling the chef's gastronomic extravaganza on the upper deck aft.

QUANTUM BLUE Yacht – Elegant $250M Superyacht

The QUANTUM BLUE yacht was built by Luerssen at their Bremen shipyard in Germany.

She is 104 meters (341.2 ft) long and was designed by Alberto Pinto and Tim Heywood Design.

QUANTUM BLUE yacht interior

The French design house of Alberto Pinto is responsible for the interior furnishings of the QUANTUM BLUE yacht.

While Pinto himself passed away in 2012, his team of professional designers successfully carry on his legacy of bespoke yacht design.

He is known for his classical design choices and creates opulent layouts for his clients, all custom-made.

Although the exact details of the interior of QUANTUM BLUE are not known, it is assumed that the yacht looks similar to Pinto’s previous projects with a modern twist on traditional yacht interiors.

The vessel can accommodate fourteen guests in seven spacious cabins as well as eighteen crew members, which is not a large team considering QUANTUM BLUE is more than 100 meters long.

She has a spa, a gym, a cinema room, and a beautiful beach club on board, as well as separate crew and guest elevators.

Specifications

The impressive QUANTUM BLUE yacht is 104 meters (341.2 ft) long with a 16.8 meter (55.1 ft) beam and a 4.1 meter (13.5 ft) draft.

Her total weight lies at 4,341 tons, and she is powered by twin diesel MTU engines.

Her average cruising speed is 13 knots, but if needed, she can reach top speeds of 22 knots.

She features high-quality at-anchor stabilizers which ensure optimal comfort levels for her guests even during rough seas.

Tim Heywood Design Studio developed the elegant exterior of the QUANTUM BLUE yacht. The award-winning designer has worked on high-profile projects such as DILBAR in the past and is well-respected in the world of superyachts.

QUANTUM BLUE is all-white with four decks, all equipped with comfortable seating areas for guests.

A spacious beach club opens up onto the swimming platform aft of the vessel, allowing direct water access.

The yacht is equipped with a modern underwater lighting system and a large aluminum superstructure.

At the bow, a helipad enables the owner of QUANTUM BLUE to arrive and depart in style. Her top deck features a large jacuzzi providing exceptional views of the surrounding ocean.

The QUANTUM BLUE yacht was built for a price of US $250 million and incurs annual running costs between US $15 and 25 million. The yacht is currently not available for charter or for sale.

CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM: WANDERING BEAR (TV)

One in this comedy series in which producer/comedian Larry David plays a slightly exaggerated version of himself who often ends up embroiled in misunderstandings and social faux pas. In this episode, Larry and Jeff order a "Girls Gone Wild" video, never dreaming of the disastrous results of their viewing it at Jeff's house. As the boys try to correct an out-of-control situation, Larry also tries to deal with his assistant's misguided love life, which is horribly impacting her abilities at the office. Little does Larry realize that his and Cheryl's attempts at safe sex may hold the secret to saving the day -- along with the assistance of a shaman who knows more than he lets on about garden pests, canine ills, and Cheryl's anatomy. Curb your enthusiasm: 10 best characters who appeared in only one episode.

From Dr. Bright to Wandering Bear to Funkhouser's sister Bam Bam, some of Curb Your Enthusiasm's funniest characters only appeared in one episode.

Larry David is surrounded by beloved recurring characters in his acclaimed HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm . Jeff is the Hardy to his Laurel, Leon refuses to move out of his house, and Susie can always be counted on for a profane tirade. But some of the funniest Curb characters only appeared in one episode.

From Dr. Bright to Wandering Bear to Larry’s girlfriend’s wildly flamboyant son Greg to Marty Funkhouser’s mentally ill sister Bam Bam, Curb has plenty of hilarious characters who only showed up in a single episode.

The title character in the season 4 episode “Wandering Bear” is an Indigenous American gardener who works for the Davids. After Larry puts a condom full of a numbing agent on inside out and Cheryl ends up with a numb vagina, Wandering Bear provides a herbal remedy.

Wandering Bear is responsible for the iconic line, “How is your vagina?” When Larry tells him that it’s an inappropriate thing to ask, Wandering Bear counters, “If you take her to the white man doctor, he will not only ask about her vagina; he’ll look.”

Rick Leftowitz

Rob Corddry guest-starred in Curb as Rick Leftowitz, a convicted sex offender that Larry invites to the Passover Seder. After seeing his face on flyers around town, Larry bumps into Rick on the street. Rick gives Larry a useful golf tip and compliments his writing. In Larry’s mind, that’s enough to forgive his heinous crimes.

The funniest Curb moments come from people’s bewildered reactions to behavior that Larry thinks is fine . In season 5’s “The Seder,” the other dinner guests’ reactions to Larry inviting Rick are a prime example.

In the season 7 premiere “Funkhouser’s Crazy Sister,” the great Catherine O’Hara guest-starred as Marty Funkhouser’s mentally ill sister Bam Bam, recently released from a psychiatric hospital. After an empty gesture is taken seriously, Marty sends Larry and Jeff over to his house to keep Bam Bam company (and Jeff ends up sleeping with her).

As a staple of Christopher Guest’s filmography, O’Hara is no stranger to improvising dialogue and basking in comedic discomfort. She was a perfect fit for the Curb -verse.

The Joseph Cosplayer

In the closest thing to a Curb Your Enthusiasm Christmas special, “Mary, Joseph, and Larry,” Larry lands in hot water with Cheryl’s family after mistakenly eating their Nativity-themed cookies. He tries to make up for it by hiring the Nativity actors from a local church to recreate the scene outside his house.

Guest star David Koechner doesn’t play the Joseph cosplayer with the brashness of characters like Champ Kind and Todd Packer. Instead, he’s a devout Christian whose patience is tested by Larry’s usual outrageousness.

In the season 6 episode “The Therapists,” after Cheryl left him, Larry started seeing a therapist named Dr. Bright, played by British comedy legend Steve Coogan. After Larry follows some terrible advice given to him by Dr. Bright, Cheryl’s own therapist advises her to stop seeing him.

Larry comes up with a harebrained scheme to win the approval of Cheryl’s therapist – to save her from a staged mugging – and since he feels Dr. Bright is responsible, he recruits him to portray the mugger.

Larry’s Guardian Angels

In the season 5 finale, “The End,” Larry briefly dies in hospital after giving Richard Lewis a kidney. He soars up to Heaven, where he’s introduced to his guardian angels, played brilliantly by guest stars Dustin Hoffman and Sacha Baron Cohen.

These angels give Larry the opportunity to ask all kinds of cosmic questions, like where he left his Sopranos DVD, before sending him back to Earth because it’s not his time.

Bob Odenkirk helped to define the awkward, naturalistic tone of Curb ’s humor with his guest turn as the titular character in the season 1 episode “Porno Gil.” Gil is a former adult film star who ropes Larry and Cheryl into a dinner party after Larry accidentally calls him on a wrong number.

Odenkirk’s deadpan delivery style is hilariously contrasted with the graphic nature of anecdotes from Gil’s pornography career.

In the season 4 episode “The Car Pool Lane,” Larry finds himself stuck in traffic on his way to a Dodgers game. Kym Whitley plays a sex worker named Monena who appears at his window and offers her services. Larry decides to hire Monena so he can drive in the carpool lane.

Monena speaks her mind, which made her a hilarious foil for Larry. Whitley returns for a cameo appearance in the season 9 episode “Never Wait for Seconds!” when Morsi interviews people from Larry’s past to determine if his fatwa is worth appealing.

The standout guest character from the season 8 finale “Larry vs. Michael J. Fox” is, of course, Michael J. Fox, whose Parkinson’s symptoms get on Larry’s nerves after moving into his apartment building in New York. But Larry’s girlfriend’s son Greg is a very close second.

Played spectacularly by a young Eddie Schweighardt, Greg is an outspoken and wildly flamboyant fashionista who loves Project Runway and thinks that a swastika, without knowing the historical context behind it, is a fabulous look.

Krazee-Eyez Killa

Chris Williams gives an unforgettable guest performance as the eponymous rapper in season 3’s “Krazee-Eyez Killa.” Larry meets Krazee-Eyez at a party celebrating his engagement to Wanda. From workshopping rap lyrics to giving Larry a house tour, Krazee-Eyez has countless memorable moments in just one episode.

Like Monena, Krazee-Eyez also returned for a cameo in the season 9 episode “Never Wait for Seconds!” (as did Michael J. Fox) when Morsi was interviewing people from Larry’s past.

This week marks both the 18th anniversary of Curb Your Enthusiasm ' s  HBO debut and the 19th anniversary of the standup special that set it all in motion. To be honest, though, we don't need a tenuous peg to have a reason to celebrate LD the GOAT and his top ten all-time, infinitely influential sitcom around here.

Curb's impact is so casual, I think we sometimes forget just how much of its vocabulary has proliferated contemporary culture, to say nothing of how many social behaviors and practices it gave sticky catchphrase life to. Granted, the last one or two seasons of the show are slightly hindered by Larry and his co-writers' own self-awareness and subsequent forced attempts to add new additions to the oeuvre (word to "the accidental text on purpose"). Still, from the everyday practices LD made a glossary for to the terms that have no real practicality outside of the show but are still hilarious nonetheless ("You Bucknered it!"), the Curb universe is one rich with references you probably don't even remember fully.

To that end, for no better reason than loving the show, missing the show ( season 10 where you at??), and having it on a loop all day in the office last week, Complex presents: The Complete Curb Your Enthusiasm Encyclopedia.

Accidental Text On Purpose  — otherwise known as, "a bullshit text."

Alanis Morrissette  — Larry David, the only person who knows who "You Oughta Know" is about, from the woman herself...a secret he managed to keep for all of 12 hours.

Antoinette — Larry's beleaguered assistant for eight out of nine seasons. 

Assasin, Social  — someone's gotta do the hard job of shamelessly calling it how it is, and in season eight, Curb 's thesis statement as finally given a title. Larry David, the selfless John Wick of social behaviorism.

Bam Bam — Funkhouser's crazy sister.

Beloved C*nt — the typo to end all typos. Also see O, obituary. 

Ben Stiller  — the would-be Producers co-star who nearly lost an eye in the struggle that is working with, nay, simply knowing, Larry David.

Birthday Cutoff  — "Are you so desperate for a party that you have to have a party two weeks after? Wait til next year, you missed it!"

Black Family  — Larry and Cheryl opened up their homes and their hearts, and the result? One of the series best arcs.

Bucknered  — when one quite literally drops the ball, but thankfully, not the baby.

Chat n’ cut  — because reasonably moving to the back of the line is for suckers.

Chet  — R.I.P. Chet, but his taste in shirts lives on.

Cheryl  — The beleaguered Mrs. David, for six seasons longer than most mortal humans would've in her situation.

Danny Duberstein — The Artist Formerly Known as Leon

David Schwimmer —  When The Producers loses a Stiller, it gains a Friend .

Denise Handicap  — top five Larry love interest.

Diamond Lane — the blessed plot device which paved the way for Larry taking a hooker to a Dodgers game.

Entourage  — remember when Larry David bumped into Ari and Drama in the HBO offices? No? Well, it happened.

Ejaculate  — of which Leon's botched pronunciation immediately declared J.B. Smoove as the series MVP.

Elizabeth Perkins  — as Funkhouser's new girlfriend. Just don't insult her water.

Fatwa  — as far as Larry and Curb are concerned, a death sentence; a short-lived Larry David vanity musical project.

Fatwa sex  — an unexpected benefit of being a dead man walking.

Foisted  — the art of dumping horribly incompetent employees onto an unsuspecting dupe while seeming like a good friend.

“Four-eyed-f*ck” — Susie's beloved nickname for LD.

Freak Book  — the most hilarious read, apparently.

Funkhouser  — arguably the GOAT among Larry's BFFs.

[Porno] Gil  — Before he was Saul , Bob Odenkirk guested as the dinner host from hell in one of the series' most underrated episodes.

Graham, Lauren  — losing Cheryl is worth it if it means Larry keeps casting national treasures like Ms. Graham for extended relationship arcs.

Greg  — the swastika-loving, seven-year-old fashion ("the fashion!") icon. 

Groats Disease  — R.I.P Danny Duberstein and prayers up Michael Richards.

Guides  — even the Almighties couldn't muster up enough patience to deal with Larry, giving him a new lease on life after spending just a few minutes in Heaven with him.

Haboos  — the quintessential blind date.

Haskell Access  — the benchmark by which we measure if a house-guest has earned upstairs privileges, as determined by Leave It to Beaver's Eddie Haskell.

HBO  — in-show, the network where Larry is no longer welcome, all over a few missing shrimp.

Ida Funkhouser Roadside Memorial  — the twice disrespected site honoring Marty's late mother; quietly one of the funniest episodes of the series. 

Injury [neck]  — "There are only  two  ways you can injure your neck. One is a car accident, the other is...cunnilingus."

Jason Alexander  — famous for playing a LD facsimile on Seinfeld ; fictional LD's nemesis on Curb .

Jeff Greene/Garlin  — a true ride or die. No Jeff, no show.

Jerry Seinfeld  — season seven is proof that whenever these guys wanna do a Seinfeld reunion for real, we'll be here for it.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus  — the Seinfeld alum with the most Curb appearances, she's been killing it since season 1's "The Wire."

Kenny Funkhouser —  three seasons after Larry desecrated Marty's mother's memorial, he set off a chain of events that ruined his nephew's baseball career, got him involved with a prostitute, and subsequently, killed. Dark.

Kidney  — Lewis needed one, Larry was a match and after a half-season of failed schemes, he agreed to give his up. And died for it, for five whole minutes. (See G, Guides).

Krazee-Eyez Killa —  GOAT episode , GOAT supporting character . Snap, crackle, pop.

Lampin — not to be confused with chillin, which is relaxing upright.

Larry David Sandwich  — whitefish, sable, capers, onions & cheese. Not as appetizing as the Ted Danson.

Leon  — hard to believe we went five whole seasons without this man leading Larry astray.

Lin-Manuel Miranda — an aggrieved Larry David co-star like Schwimmer and Stiller before him, only less funny.

Long-Ball Larry  — medically speaking, "they're a bit more distended than the average testicles."

Lucy Lawless  — the first evidence that Life After Cheryl would be an adventure of equal improbable wins and inevitable losses.

Medium Talk  — the sophisticated conversationalist's elevation of Small Talk.

Mel Brooks  — only a man trying to tank his play would cast Larry as the lead.

Michael J. Fox — Parkinson's sufferer or conniving, vindictive upstairs neighbor? Both? Both.

Mister Softee — a New York City staple, and the root cause of many of Larry's neuroses.

Nat  — season five left it up for debate before ultimately settling it: Larry isn't adopted, Nat David is indeed, his dad.

New York  — season eight shifts to the Big Apple for a change of pace, and it worked: some of the series' best episodes are in eight's NYC-set back half.

Non-recommend recommend  — when you refer an acquaintance just to say you did, while subtly communicating that you don't actually believe in their skills.

Obituary  — long live Jeff's beloved aunt, not to be confused with... (See B, Beloved C*nt)

Oscar (The Corpse-Sniffing-Dog)  — the Greene family dog who had a whole prior career no one knew about until it was too late.

Omar Jones  — the bowtie-wearing private eye, played by the one-and-only Mekhi Phifer.

Palestinian Chicken  — too damn good to let something like Jewish loyalty get in the way.

Pants Tent  — that awkward elevated flap that can easily be misconstrued for um, arousal, when a man sits is where it all began.

Periscope  — before Waze, there was the Car Periscope.

Pretty good  — pretty, pretty, pretty, prettttttay, prettay good.

Producers, The  — starring Larry David and David Schwimmer, so bad it's good.

Reminder Beep  — a subtle way of telling the driver in front of you, the light's green, time to go. Can be misconstrued as an Aggressive Beep in Teslas.

Reset button  — like restoring your iPhone but for relationships, to conveniently erase all that complicated history and medium talk.

Richard Lewis  — Larry's oldest friend of 47 years, a relationship so deep he can ask for a kidney and eventually get it.

Rosie O’Donnell  — recurring LD nemesis, ready for war whether it be over check-paying-privileges or a bi-sexual.

Rushdie, Salmon  — the OG Fatwa badass.

Sample Abuser  — hint: if you ask to try a taste of the banana ice cream, it probably tastes like...banana!

Seinfeld —  the past success by which present Larry is measured, and probably the closest we'll get to a true reunion-revival.

Scorsese, Martin  — acclaimed director who, for some bemusing reason, cast TV Larry in his next opus (and not in a Mel Brooks self-sabotage way).

Shit-bow  — the disrespectful version of a Japanese bow.

Ski Lift  — the episode where Larry and Jeff had to pretend to be married to each other's wives, edible panties were a plot point, and Larry drove a woman to leap twenty-odd feet just to get away from him. Which is to say, a classic.

Sorry Window, The  — the statue of limitations on expressing "sorry to hear that" condolences.

Stop n Chat  — if you don't know Larry well enough, don't expect more than a cruising hello.

Susie  — the profane goddess striking fear into emasculated husbands across the globe.

Ted Danson —  television's favorite leading sitcom male is TV Larry's archnemesis.

TiVo  — the unexpected (next-to) last straw in the Cheryl-Larry marital union.

Upstreaming —  the act of abandoning any sense of cab tact by hailing from an earlier corner, a problem New Yorkers know all too well even post-Uber.

Virgin Mary —  Larry getting flirty with the Virgin Mother turned a nice gesture of Christianity-embracing for Cheryl's family into a Christmas brawl with the holy family.

Vivica A. Fox  — as Loretta Black, Leon's cousin and Larry's short-lived Cheryl rebound. 

"Vow of Silence" — the episode that gave us "Chat n Cut," the best commercial Pinkberry never commissioned, and Larry being chased out of L.A.

Wanda Sykes —  Cheryl's friend, Larry's foil and Krazee Eyez' one-time fiancé.

Wandering Bear  — the Native American landscaper who's also a wizard with numb vagina advice.

Weatherman  — the meteorologist Larry suspects of misreporting bad weather just so he can have the golf course to himself, and to add insult to injury, he has a special golf tip he shares with Funkhouser but forbids him from sharing with Larry.

Wendy Wheelchair  — another disabled LD paramour (see: D, Denise Handicap)

Wizards of Waverly Place  — the Disney channel teen sitcom that birthed Selena Gomez which Larry is forced to pretend to give a fuck about thanks to his annoying text message correspondence with a chatty nine-year-old.

Wood  — no coaster, no respect.

Yenta  — Yiddish slang for a gossiper, attributed to Ted Danson by LD, appropriated by Cam'ron for rap tough talk.

Two black bear cubs wrestle vigorously, their thick fur peppered with sticks and grass.

The furry youngsters are the newest additions to the Oregon Zoo’s bear family. They were found and rescued as orphaned cubs in Alaska , according to the zoo’s March 6 news release.

Black bears like these are usually glued to their mothers for the first 18 months of life. When found wandering without their mom, the cubs were deemed too young to survive alone and were taken to the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage for care before joining the Oregon Zoo in Portland.

The two were given the names Timber and Thorn.

“Care staff named the cubs in honor of their forest home and Portland’s major league soccer teams, the Timbers and Thorns,” the zoo said.

Since their arrival, Timber and Thorn have been kept behind the scenes and separate from the other bears while they get their bearings.

“It took Timber and Thorn a little while to get comfortable romping around outside,” Travis Koons, who oversees the Great Northwest area of the zoo, said in the release. “As orphans, they’ve had to figure a lot of things out on their own, but they’re growing up to be confident, playful young bears.”

Black bears have been making a comeback thanks to conservation efforts after losing much of their habitat in North America, the zoo said.

In a video posted on the zoo’s YouTube channel, Timber and Thorn can be seen having a grand old time . According to the zoo, the duo have been coming out to play nearly everyday.

“Thorn and Timber both like to climb trees and play chase,” said Koons. “They’re a lot of fun to watch and we’re excited for guests to get to know them.”

Lift-kept with custom sun covers, she shows beautifully with her Stars & Stripes blue hull, Oyster White boot stripe and black bottom. In 2018 the Yamaha outboard motor was painted to match the gelcoat and a faux teak transom was applied, nice custom touches done by the Hinckley Company. Properly maintained and serviced (full outboard motor service, with computer check and compression test, March 2022) make OSPREY a true ‘turn key’ offering. MOSCOW, November 19. A drone flying to Moscow has been downed by air defense systems in Elektrostal in the Moscow Region, no one was hurt, Moscow’s Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Sunday.

"In the Elektrostal municipal district, air defense forces repelled an attack by a drone, which was flying toward Moscow. According to preliminary data, its fragments fell down incurring no damage. No one was hurt," he wrote on his Telegram channel .

According to the Moscow mayor, emergencies services are working on the site.
