Back for a bigger, better and even more iconic edition next year after being cancelled in 2020 due to Coronavirus, the Monaco Grand Prix is gearing up for its wildest Formula 1 weekend yet.

Dixon Yacht Design reveals 60m "all-electric" sailing yacht concept Project Maverick

Dixon Yacht Design and Lateral Naval Architects , in partnership with Southern Spars, have announced a 59.5-metre concept known as Project Maverick. 

At the heart of Project Maverick's design is its all-electric energy architecture. The sailing yacht would harness solar power through a 200-square-metre array, regenerate kinetic energy while sailing and rely on an Energy Storage System to manage onboard loads and support low-emission operations. 

Project Maverick would be built in partially recycled aluminium, with key numbers including a volume of 600GT, an 11-metre beam and a speed of eight knots in "silent motoring mode".

"Project Maverick is tailored for clients who are bold and willing to explore uncharted waters," explained Oliver Cooper, senior naval architect at Lateral. "The yacht's technical architecture enables a seamless day of sailing, motoring, and periods at anchor, with 94 per cent of onboard operations conducted in zero-emission mode, using proven and dependable technology."

Accommodation is across five cabins, including an owner's suite with direct access to the articulating stern platform on the main deck aft. The main deck also features a "bright, open" main saloon with covered side decks designed to reduce solar heat gain.

The remaining guest cabins are on the lower deck, alongside five crew cabins and a versatile fifth cabin in the foredeck. Meanwhile, a recessed crane system would allow for the launch and recovery of two seven-metre tenders.

Anders Berg, partner and principal naval architect at Dixon Yacht Design, added: "Project Maverick represents a new direction in sailing – a blend of tradition and innovation that challenges conventions without sacrificing the sailing experience."

The concept is designed with twin rudders, two 930-square-metre DynaRigs and a fully retractable vertical lifting ballasted keel, for a draft range between four and 6.25 metres.

Dixon Yacht Design recently shared a 53-metre concept named Panamax with BOAT International . The yacht has been optimised to transit the Panama Canal and incorporates approximately 80 square metres of solar panels.

Launched by the world-renowned Benetti Shipyard, and designed internally by Andrew Winch, the magnificent custom-made 60 metre motor yacht St.David was recently refitted in 2019 to achieve one sole purpose: to create the absolute pinnacle of contemporary charter excellence. Her opulent interior sleeps up to 12 guests in six staterooms that incorporate a magnificent master suite, full-beam VIP stateroom and very spacious four double rooms, which can all be converted to twin, if requested. Split over two levels, and with a raised bedroom for ultimate privacy and luxury, the master suite features a stunning staircase, sumptuous lounge area, ensuite and panoramic views that provide a truly unforgettable experience. Throughout her interior living spaces are finished to the highest standards, evident in her beautiful mosaic floors, sculptured tables that rise and fall, and detailed marquetry. The Italian Riviera-style creates a lavish atmosphere on board, featuring a floating staircase which spans three decks is topped by a skylight and peeks into the bottom of the sun-deck pool. Outside, perhaps her most impressive feature is the oversize jacuzzi pool refitted in 2019 with new pumps and jets. Also on the upper deck is a fabulous circulate dinning table for twelve guests and an adjacent bar. Dinning on the deck below offers an alternative experience with an indoor-outdoor circular table, well protected in case of a crosswind. St. David boasts an extensive range of water sports equipment including a brand new (2019) 7.2m Four Winns tender and an additional RIB tender for beach landings, two jet skis, two Seabobs, fishing and diving equipment, water ski equipment, paddle boards and a large selection of inflatables. Whether you are watching movies under the stars at the yacht’s outdoor cinema, exercising in the gym, enjoying a massage from our experienced onboard masseuse or partying in her private nightclub, St.David offers a charter experience like no other.
