I really just dont understand why if I want customer service, reliable information, or good activities...Not Great, just good, I have to travel completely out of My Neighboorhood! Is is that no one wants to do their job? I signed my son up for a program and wanted to find out what More they offered. I was asked my sons name then told they didnt have him registered. Now the Only reason I gave my sons name is because I was asked His Name! After a few minutes I was told they didnt have him ... I told her his age , Yes he Is a minor. I told the nice lady she left me a vm saying to pick up key cards. Once i play the vm. She then tells me he cant pick up key cards??? Hes not 18. OK! Then she says, its under my name BC he is a minor. Well then Look Under My Name First! Then I ask about any more programs b4 summers done. Her: well u can bring him but I suggest u stay or he is supervised. Me: I just stare blamk faced. I didnt get my answet. Now i dont know what parent just drops off a 13 yr old at the bank of Lake Michigan, but it aint Me! So then I ask about the children out there in the water now. She tells me that its a sailing program but its full. GREAT UPSALE! Now they do put on a few actvities like movie nite, food, but i was asked am I getting the emails. I AM RIGHT ON FRONT OF YOU. WALLET IN HAND, NOT ASKING FOR FREE. Just wanted to know about how we can benefit each other. Oh I forgot, i had been sitting outside, waiting for someone to talk to for 33 min By Myself! When the people who work came from out the lake, do you Both of these 2 Grown indivduals didnt acknowledge my presence! Just walked right by. I then stopped the sista & asked if there was anyone available to talk w me. Now ofcourse I asked another individual whn I got there if anyone was available but i was told they were all un the water, thats why i waited patiently. BUT THE WHOLE TIME HER WAS UPSTAIRS. (HER=Someone in charge) Thanks JPYC. Is this one of the reason all the boats are now on 31st. My son really would have enjoyed some edicational hands on learning from some professionals since hes going to be a Marine Biologist.

I once again raise my martini glass to those fortunate enough to have their boat or yacht in this historic, beautiful marina. In 1893 the Chicago World's Fair was held right in this area. The north end of the fair is now the Museum of Science and Industry and this harbour borders the south end which is near a replica of the Statue of the Republic which was made famous at the World's Fair. The replica was made in 1913 and is awesome and represents America's freedom and it's pioneer spirit.

Jackson Park Outer Harbor is located in the heart of Jackson Park just off 63 rd Street Beach.  The harbor is beautifully set within the park and its quiet temperament and friendly faces make it a relaxing part of the lakefront.  Jackson Park Yacht Club calls the harbor home and an old Coast Guard station stands watch over the western shore.  With 115 slips and mooring cans, the harbor can accommodate boats from 25’-40’ in length.

Transient docking is available; you can submit reservation requests through the Dockwa app or website beginning May 1st.  Waste pump-out equipment is available on a no-charge basis. The Jackson Park Yacht Club offers a mast stepping/unstepping capability.  The harbor monitors channel 9 and 16 and the switch to/working channel is 68.

Jackson Park Outer Harbor is located in the heart of Jackson Park of 63rd Street Beach. There are 169 docks, mooring cans and star docks. Transient docking is available. We suggest calling the harbor directly for reservations any time after May 15. Jackson Park Outer Harbor has a fuel dock facility, which dispenses gas and diesel fuels. The Ship's Store, located in the Harbor building, offers refreshments, apparel and boating supplies. There is a privately operated restaurant at the south end of the building. Waste pump-out equipment is available on a no charge basis. The Jackson Park Yacht Club is located in the harbor; the club offers a mast stepping/unstepping capability. JPYC Expands to 31st Harbor

The Jackson Park Yacht Club is expanding its footprint to include 31 st Harbor and officially raised the JPYC flag at 31 st Harbor on Saturday, August 26th. JPYC will be integrating 31 st Harbor residents into annual summer and off-season events & programming, which includes sailboat racing, adult & youth sailing lessons, boater education/safety, and social activities. Furthermore, JPYC will provide organized leadership representing 31 st Harbor boaters concerns and advocating on their behalf with stakeholders in the larger boating community.

Great Britain SailGP Team Visits JPYC

That’s right SailGP’s Great Britain Team is coming again to visit the JPYC Foundation on Wednesday June 14 th  at 5:30 pm. 

Driven by Ben Ainslie, the most successful Olympic sailor of all time, the Great Britain SailGP Team comprises of some of the country’s top sporting talent with Olympic medals across multiple sports.  As part of its partnership with SailGP, the JPYC Foundation has “adopted” this team during their stay in Chicago to compete in the SailGP Chicago Grand Prix on June 16 and 17.

Adopting the British team seemed only natural since our beloved Director of Youth Sailing, Johnny Mercer, was also British!  Although Johnny’s off sailing the high seas (we miss him terribly), he prepared us well to host the Great Britain team by already teaching us the funny phrases the Brits use!!   Gidday chaps and all that!!

Please come by the club and join us in welcoming and getting to know the Great Britain team:

• Great Britain Team arrives 5:30 pm
• Welcome Remarks and Great Britain Team Presentation followed by Q&A from 5:30 to 6:00 pm
• Food, Drinks and Mingling 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Dinner will be available for purchase from the Galley (cost approximately $15, depending on meal selected)

Let’s make Johnny proud and show these Brits what he taught us by making them feel welcome in Chicago and cheering them on while they race on June 16 and 17 — the Great Britain team will be flying the JPYC Burgee/flag when they race!!

In Chicago we wait all winter for the Summer Sailstice. Sailors show us your photos and videos of your sailing experience on the weekend of the Sailstice June 24th.
