SPLIT, 22 August 2021 – American basketball legend Michael Jordan has arrived in Croatia on holiday.  

Jordan, 58, landed at Split Airport on Sunday evening around 6 p.m. before boarding luxury yacht O’Pari on Split’s western waterfront, Dalmacija Danas reported.  

The former Chicago Bulls start caught the attention of a number of locals and tourists as he climbed on board the 95-metre yacht.  

Jordan was met at Split Airport in Resnik by three vans and was accompanied by bodyguards.  

It is not the first time Jordan has been in Croatia, he played here with the American University back in 1982 and it was his first match up against Croatian great Dražen Petrović.  

Jordan played together with Split-native Toni Kukoč at the Chicago Bulls where they won three NBA rings together. Kukoč, however, is reportedly back in Chicago at the moment so he will not get a chance to catch up with his former teammate in his hometown.  

Jordan though will present Kukoč at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee ceremony in Springfield, Massachusetts on September 11th.

Last summer Magic Johnson was blown away by the beauty of thee Croatian coast during his month-long vacation.

Basketball legend Michael Jordan  and wife Yvette Prieto were spotted on a rare outing on Friday, as they were seen enjoying their luxury vacation on a €1million ($1.2 million)-a-week superyacht. 

The 6ft6in athlete and his petite spouse - who wed in 2013 - were seen strolling the ancient city of Split, Croatia. 

They appeared to be very in love as they were seen arm-in-arm, and were flanked by several male security guards who worked hard to keep the crowds away from the NBA icon. 

For the summer getaway Jordan, 58, splurged on an extravagant getaway with Prieto, 42, and friends as they stay on the opulent sea vessel named O’Pari.

The couple will certainly have another room to move around in, as the yacht's interior layout sleeps up to 12 guests in 14 rooms, including a master suite, 2 VIP staterooms, 6 double cabins, 4 twin cabins and 1 single cabin.

The vessel is also capable of carrying up to 29 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience, according to a description. 

A generous deck area plays host to a wide range of amenities including an outdoor bar and ample space for sunlounging and relaxing.

Meanwhile, Jordan, one of the world's most famous athletes, was seen wearing a black hat, a greyish blue crew neck shirt, and grey and navy camo shorts. 

He donned a pair of black sneakers and also wore sunglasses. The sports star had on his signature hoop earring.

The father-of-five carried a cup of coffee and a cigar in his hand. He sported a white watch and a black face mask was wrapped around his wrist.

Wife Yvette was seen wearing a multicolored headband around her long, wavy, brunette hair.

The two share seven-year-old twins Ysabel and Victoria Jordan.

The NBA vet was previously married to Juanita Vanoy from 1989 to 2006.

Above Croatia is Slovenia, to the sides are Italy and Serbia, and below it is Albania and Greece.

The country has become a hot spot for tourists and filmmaking.

Michael Jordan arrives in Dubrovnik and soaks up the sights

One of the greatest sports legends of all timer, the former NBA star Michael Jordan (58) and his wife, the attractive Cuban Yvette Prieto (42) together with their friends arrived in Dubrovnik today on the luxury yacht O'Pari anchored in front of the city walls, right next to the mega yachts Eclipse and Octopus.

Yesterday they were in Hvar, and before that they visited Split, the Krka National Park and Skradin and Šibenik, from where they set off on a cruise along the Croatian coast.

The former Chicago Bulls basketball player, member of the Hall of Fame, owner of six NBA rings, is now the owner of the professional NBA basketball club Charlotte Hornets. Jordan is a successful businessman and is believed to be worth around $1.6 billion.

Jordan is married to Cuban Prieto and has two twin daughters, Victoria and Ysabel. According to American portals, this married couple rarely opens up to the public, they almost never speak publicly about each other or their relationship.

The Jordan group took lunch in Dubrovnik and went to the popular Proto restaurant, where they took a pavement table. And sitting in full view of the thousands of tourists inside the city meant that Dubrovnik had a new attraction today. Before lunch they took a walk along the main street, Stradun, and soaked up the sights inside the historic Old City of Dubrovnik. And according to Proto Michael Jordan enjoyed fish and seafood with a glass of Dubrovnik white wine from the Crvik winery, and he finished lunch with a Cuban cigar.

The O’Para yacht was built in 2020 and the rental week costs one million euros. With 14 rooms of pure luxury the superyacht can accommodate up to 12 people, with 29 staff members. The interior and exterior facilities, with an impressive design, are perfect for enjoying the sun, socializing and entertainment that the Jordanians had on Hvar last night, so the police allegedly had to silence them due to the loud 'partying'.

After his stay in Dubrovnik, it is believed that Michael Jordan and his group will fly home.

"Air" Jordan can still be found doing the things that most folks only dream of on a regular basis. Golfing on the best courses, eating at the best restaurants, hanging at the best hot spots. There's not much that Jordan, whose net worth is estimated at $1.6 billion, doesn't do these days. In his latest fun on the high side, he and his 42-year-old wife Yvette Prieto went on a romantic getaway on superyacht named O'Pari, which costs a whopping $1.2 million a week to rent. MJ and his wife were observed in the city of Split, Croatia on Friday exiting the yacht, flanked by security guards. From the pictures, the two actually looked liked normal tourists. She wore a black, button up, one-piece shorts outfit with a collar. The mom of two (she and Jordan have seven-year-old twins, Jordan has five kids total) also had on a pair of aviator sunglasses. Jordan himself looked fairly normal, that is, if having a gaggle of security guards around you is normal. He was donning a black hat, a grayish blue crew neck shirt, and gray and navy camo shorts, black sneakers, his usual hoop earing and sunglasses. The legend also was carrying around a Styrofoam cup of coffee, smoking a cigar. Interestingly enough, Jordan was also wearing a black face mask wrapped around his wrist.

I t's summer and it's time to enjoy a break, with basketball legend Michael Jordan doing exactly that in Split in Croatia. He and his wife Yvette Prieto are spending some time on the coast.

They have spent 1.2m dollars to rent the luxury yacht O'Pari, as well as buying 25 bottles of Clase Azul Plata tequila, which cost around 4,000 dollars each.

The former Chicago Bulls player's arrival in Croatia has sparked a frenzy in the local media, with reporters and paparazzi following his every public move. Jordan is hardly leaving the boat, though, enjoying the yacht he spent such a huge sum for.

The two are currently vacationing on a super yacht called the O’Pari, via the Daily Mail . The luxe 95m vessel costs a whopping $1.2 million a week to run, and requires a crew of 29 people for up to 12 guests.

Of course, his arrival created a lot of media frenzy, and everyone ( including us! ) wrote about him arriving in Split and boarding an amazing yacht O’Pari. Today, the media was following the vessel’s position on vesselfinder.com , so they knew that the yacht and the people aboard it were going to the Šibenik region. That’s not a particularly odd choice, as that is the way to get to Krka National Park , and numerous Croatian media confirm today that this is exactly what some of the people in Michael’s party did today. While His Airness was enjoying himself on a jet-ski on the Prokljan Lake , as reported by Index and others, Michael’s wife Yvette Prieto and friends went on a tour of the Krka National Park.

The photo agencies have also distributed the photos of his wife and friends in Skradin, while visiting the Krka NP.

Currently, the O’Pari yacht is docked in the Šibenik port, and I will admit to becoming a bit misty-eyed when I realized that the greatest basketball player of all time will be spending some time in the greatest Croatian basketball player’s hometown. Dražen Petrović was born in Šibenik, and there’s a memorial to him there, but it’s probably not realistic to expect Jordan to pay his respects.

Michael Jordan is not expected to meet any of his colleagues and friends, other Croatian basketball players. Slobodna Dalmacija reports that Dino Rađa didn’t even know Michael was coming to his hometown of Split, while Toni Kukoč is reportedly in his home in Chicago, and not on the Mediterranean. Kukoč will be inducted into the Basketball hall of fame in early September, and it will be his former teammate, Jordan, who will co-present him at the ceremony.

This pair, who have been married since 1982, also spent vacation time on the Croatian coast.

Billionaires love spending money, we know that. But if that billionaire is as flamboyant as Michael Jordan, you can bet that an entire community of sports league fans will keep a watchful eye on him.

Their expenses increasingly catch the eye of people and we start wondering why these people spend their money on certain things. Well, for starters, MJ has always been one to lead a luxurious lifestyle.

While he doesn’t flaunt it, he has always been one to make the most exorbitant purchases. He brought an NBA team, owns a clothing brand worth billions, and he recently also purchased a NASCAR team.

He also owns a yacht but what happens when you cannot take it across an ocean and into the beautiful blue waters of the Mediterranean? You do the next best thing, rent a super yacht.

What are a million dollars to a billionaire? It’s only petty change, we suppose. Michael Jordan certainly made it feel like that.

He took his wife, Yvette Prieto on vacation to Croatia in 2021 and rented a super yacht. The cost of the rental? An eye-watering $1.2 million a week.

It looks as though the yacht had everything you could ask for. The two have been together for over a decade and it is likely they went on vacation to celebrate their 10-year anniversary.

Michael Jordan enjoys the northern summer sailing along the Croatian coast on the O’Pari yacht.

The O’Pari yacht that Jordan rented for a million dollars a week from Golden Yachts Haltikis, measures 95 meters in length, has a capacity for 12 guests and 29 crew members. It includes a bar, swimming pool, and an outdoor cinema.

This boat can reach a total speed of 18 knots. In the interior of it, the spacious rooms and the common places have different styles, to feel like being in a hotel.

Retired from the game in 2003, Jordan devoted himself to being an investor and big business entrepreneur. Forbes credits him with a net worth of $ 1.6 billion with deals and deals with Nike, Hanes, Gatorade, and the sports book DraftKings.

Although this is not his only boat, it is the most impressive one with a length of 70 meters and a luxurious interiors.

The interior is decorated with ocean mosaics, and the bathrooms are made of granite. The entire boat is insulated with glass to provide comfortable conditions in both winter and summer.

Thus, Jordan is capable of hosting 12 people with 19 crew members, andthere are spa rooms with a jacuzzi and a sauna.

There is also a swimming pool and a basketball court.

The rent of such a vessel comes to $840K per person , and for anyone + worth more than two billion euros, the consumption of 250 liters is certainly not something that creates difficulties, payment wise.

Let's face it: The average joe, or even most above average joes for that matter, isn't going out and buying 200-foot super yachts. Only a select few of the most successful people in this world can afford such a luxury. Take the greatest player in NBA History, Michael Jordan , for example.

There's pretty much no denying it: Michael Jordan is the GOAT. Not only was he an NBA legend who won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, but the five-time MVP also turned his Jordan brand into a super-successful business, making billions of dollars for Nike and opening the door for other athletes to do the same, like LeBron James. As of today, the billionaire owner of the Charlotte Hornets' net worth puts him on the Forbes list year after year.

Now, Jordan is no stranger to boating. A while back, he bought a massive sport fishing Viking Yacht named Catch 23 . It rocked the Air Jordan 3 sneaker elephant print color scheme, and he commonly used it to compete in fishing tournaments. However, one of his more recent purchase puts his old fishing boat to shame. I mean, it is an $80 million luxury yacht after all.

Coming in at a massive 230 feet, Joy can be spotted miles and miles away. With eight different full-sized cabins onboard, the yacht can house family, friends, or anyone else worthy of staying in the Master Suite with no problem at all. Inside, you'll also find a full bar with a beautiful dining room area and a 270-degree ocean view. Of course, Jordan has also hired some of the world's finest chefs and bartenders as crew members, to serve himself and the guests while out on the water.

Along with an amazing view, the rear deck is fitted with a jacuzzi and a surrounding lounge area for hanging out or tanning. Jordan isn't the kind of person that likes to just sit around though, so it makes sense that there's also a full gym at his disposal to get the blood pumping. Those five-star meals need to get burned off somehow. Additionally, it wouldn't truly be a yacht owned by basketball player Michael Jordan without a full-sized basketball court. He may not play professionally anymore, but that doesn't mean he can't teach his guests a few lessons on the court from time to time.

When it comes down to it, Jordan is a businessman. Because of that, there's also a room that's mainly dedicated to meetings with important clients. The room is fitted with top of the line audio/visual equipment, and a satellite to give a presentation that is nearly impossible to decline. What better way to pitch your ideas than from this luxurious meeting room?

To put things in perspective, this yacht costs around $840,000 each week in order to man the ship and to keep the vessel in seaworthy condition. Not exactly a small price to pay on top of the $80 million price tag, but for the top-of-the-line amenities, it seems to be worth every penny to Jordan. He truly is living the life, pulling up to the beach club on a Caribbean island, ready to take play some 1-on-1 with anyone willing to take on the GOAT.

NBA superstar and arguably the greatest basketball player of all time Michael Jordan retired from the game years ago but still keeps busy doing all kinds of things, including sailing on his yacht . This is no toy, either, as his yacht qualifies as a superyacht and you’ll see why shortly.

Before we get too deep into this it’s worth noting that the yacht we’re covering here may not actually even belong to Michael “Air” Jordan. He chartered it several times and there is a rumor that he purchased it in 2019. But we don’t have 100% confirmation on that so it’s possible this is not Jordan’s yacht at all, just one he really likes. That aside, all of the details about the yacht are still accurate and you’ll see why, even if Jordan didn’t buy this one outright, there’s every reason to understand why he would have, and why he’s chartered it in the past.

What Did Michael Jordan Call His Yacht?

Michael Jordan’s superyacht is called Joy and was launched back in 2016. Of course, that’s just one of his yachts as he actually owns a smaller (but still impressive) sport fishing yacht that he named Catch-23. The name is a clever pun on the familiar saying “Catch-22” and also his jersey number 23 from when he played professional basketball. His fishing yacht cost a cool $8 million so you can imagine what the superyacht Joy must have set him back if he really is the owner. Or you can just read on to find out!

How Much Did Michael Jordan’s Yacht Cost?

Because this yacht is a remarkable, one of a kind vessel, the owner, if it is Jordan, was willing to pay to ensure he got the best of the best. Is it the most expensive yacht in the world? No, not even close. But at $80 million (some sources even say $90 million) it’s definitely no joke. Joy is not a superyacht most people would be able to afford by any means.

How Big is Michael Jordan’s Yacht?

According to most reports, Michael Jordan’s yacht clocks in at a very impressive 230 feet. That’s nowhere near the largest yacht in the world but it’s incredibly large nonetheless and more than twice the size of Shaquille O’Neal’s yacht or Tom Brady’s yacht . 

How Fast is Michal Jordan’s Yacht?

With a pair of 1,850-horsepower engines,  Joy has a cruising speed of 12 knots. At top speed it can reach 16 knots, making it on par with other yachts of this size in terms of speed. At the size it’s clearly not intended for racing or hitting high speeds.

What’s the Interior of Michael Jordan’s Yacht Like?

What’s the one feature you’d absolutely expect to find on the deck of the yacht owned by a basketball legend? Joy has what has been called a full sized basketball court for playing while cruising, so long as the motion of the ocean doesn’t make this too uneven. Guess you’ll have to be careful with those rebounds. To be fair, though, when you look at images and videos it only shows the one hoop so it really looks more like a half court than a full basketball court. Not that there’s a problem with that, it’s certainly more than most yachts have. 

In addition, the space is easily converted if guests are in the mood for different sports and you can play volleyball or badminton. Heck, you can even toss a football around, there’s enough room. If it seems like that might take up too much room, don’t worry. The entire yacht has five decks so there’s plenty of room for the rust of the luxury features someone like Michael Jordan might want included.

As you’d expect on a luxury yacht of this size there’s a large beach club at the aft of the vessel with a dive platform and everything you’d expect in your beach club area. However, when the sun goes down this space is easily converted into a club for parties and it’s decked out for just such an occasion. There are video walls, bean bag chairs and a number of video game consoles for having a good time. It also serves as a movie theatre for when you want to gather a group and watch a film. Obviously there’s a large dining room for meals as well.

Obviously, the designers included a fully equipped gym on his yacht as well but unlike some, this is a partially open air gym. That means you can take in views of the ocean and enjoy the fresh air during a workout. Of course, additional health amenities exist as well. There’s a spa, a masseuse, and more plus a crew of 19 to make sure it all runs smoothly. One of those crew members is the private chef as well who is said to have a Michelin star, and as you’d expect the food will be able to meet the luxury of the rest of the boat.

You can travel across the 5 decks either by the spiral staircase or a luxurious glass elevator. This can take you from the gym to quarters where you’ll find seven cabins to accommodate guests. With the VIP you have eight cabins total.

The master suite offers an impressive 270 degree view of the ocean and has a private terrace if you want to go out for a closer look. The owner’s deck is opulent in design and resembles the penthouse of a luxury hotel. It even has his and hers bathrooms so no one needs to fight over who has access to the rain showers. For more private getaways there’s a private office for business meetings and lounge area for dining that are separated from the rest of the vessel.

You’ll also find four double cabins on board plus one twin cabin and finally a VIP stateroom. In total six time NBA champion has room for 12 guests in addition to the crew. All of the rooms are designed and decorated in a slightly different style so that people who come aboard get a chance to pick a room that appeals to their own personality rather than having a generic room that is the same as everyone else’s.

Elsewhere on board you’ll find a full bar for entertaining as well as a glass-sided deck jacuzzi for relaxing. 

Throughout the yacht’s interior you’ll find ocean mosaics, granite finishes and a lot of other opulent decorative touches that give it the sense of being at a resort. 

When it comes to cutting loose and having a good time, the people who designed Joy didn’t skimp there, either. The boat has a number of water toys including jet skis and guests can wake board, water ski, kayak and go scuba diving or snorkeling as well. Several tenders can take you to and from shore or wherever else you may need to go.

If you want to slow it down but still have fun, there are tons of inflatables that can be taken out and even a giant waterslide. If things get out of hand and someone gets in trouble don’t worry, Joy even has a rescue boat.

Is Michael Jordan’s Yacht Kept at a Caribbean Island?

Much of the reason people believe that Jordan owns Joy is because he was spotted there at the Caribbean island of St. Barts with the yacht back in 2019. Most of the pics you will find online that show Jordan on the yacht are from this time period and this is where speculation that he purchased the yacht came from. 

The Bottom Line

Joy is a luxury superyacht that costs as much as $80 or even $90 million. There’s a rumor that Michael Jordan is the owner of the yacht, and as the first billionaire athlete it’s not hard to believe, but it’s worth noting you can head to a number of yacht charter sites right now and charter this specific yacht for $700,000 per week. Would Michael Jordan let his private yacht be rented out for charters? You can decide that for yourself. Many other sites on the internet are convinced Jordan owns it but we’re not so sure just yet.

Regardless of who owns it, this massive 230 foot vessel has a basketball court on deck that can be converted for other sports or just whatever activities you feel like. There is a huge selection of water toys, space for parties, room for 12 guests, a jacuzzi, a swimming pool, a cinema and a master suite with an incredible 270 degree view of the ocean.

With a top speed of 16 knots and all the features you’d expect from a luxury hotel provided by a staff of 19, whether or not this is owned by Michael Jordan or just enjoyed by the Bulls legend, it’s easy to see why it’s such a highly prized vessel.

Yachts Charted By Celebrities

Every summer, it’s not uncommon to see A-list celebrities cruising the Mediterranean, in the South of France, Ibiza or the Amalfi Coast. And in winter, celebrities soak up the sun in the Caribbean, in hotspots like St. Barts and the Exumas.

Michael Jordan, O’Pari

Retired NBA legend Michael Jordan isn’t a stranger to the good life. Since retiring from professional basketball, he’s traveled the world and enjoyed a quieter life.

In 2021, Jordan was spotted cruising the Croatian coast aboard O’Pari. The 311-foot superyacht, built by Golden Yachts in 2020, is well-appointed inside and out. Featuring a wide range of luxury amenities, including an aft deck plunge pool and helipad, O’Pari is an oasis, with a spacious interior layout that includes 14 suites. A-list actor Leonardo DiCaprio is no stranger to luxury megayachts. He’s been spotted around the world, from Ibiza to St. Martin on charter yachts. In late 2021, Leo chartered Vava II, a 318-foot superyacht, in St. Barts. One of his favorite hangouts, St. Barts is known for its exclusive beach clubs and five-star resorts, and the yachting set flock to this Caribbean hotspot every winter.

Catherine Zeta-Jones, Il Sole

Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones and husband Michael Douglas spent summer 2021 cruising the Balearic Islands (Ibiza and Mallorca, specifically) aboard Il Sole . Tom Cruise, Triple Seven

While taking a break from filming Mission: Impossible in summer 2021, Tom Cruise explored the coast of Scotland and southern England aboard Triple Seven. The sprawling 223-foot yacht is an immaculately designed desks, which feature 3 al fresco dining areas, as well as a professional-grade cinema and guest accommodations for up to 10.

Although Cruise sailed the Scottish coast, making stops in Cornwall, as well, Triple Seven typically sticks to the southern Mediterranean in Cannes, Corsica and the Frenchnaturally beautiful coastlines in Corsica.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, Valerie

This on-again-off-again pair spent summer 2021 cruising the Mediterranean, with stops in St. Tropez and Capri. Sailing aboard Valerie, the couple celebrated J.Lo’s 52 nd birthday, while enjoying the finer things the South of France and the Amalfi Coast have to offer.
