The History of Greenline Yachts

Greenline Yachts was launched in 2008. As all great ideas do, they began life on the drawing board. The Greenline 33   

Where it all began.

 Measuring in at 32’9″ (9.99m), the Greenline 33 is a splendid yacht containing 1 salon (plus an optional bunk ), 7 berths and 1 bathroom. It has a fuel capacity of 132 gal (500L) and can hold 80 gal of freshwater (300L).

The Greenline 33 has a hybrid and electric drive and conventional diesel options, true to their pioneering spirit. Its Volvo Penta D3 can deliver speeds of up to 11 knots and 170 HP. Their decade of experience in hybrid engines means that this is the ideal system for performance and efficiency while ensuring that your passengers remain comfortable on the deck.

A signature feature of the Greenline 33 is its Aft Galley , which combines the cockpit and galley into a fabulous and inviting social area. There is no single step between the bathing platform and the helmsman position to ensure one level of living throughout the boat.

And with 360-degree panoramic views from the inside, natural light will delight your senses!

The Greenline 39

The big brother of the 33, the Greenline 39 is beefy with a beam of 12’4″ and accommodation for up to six people. Friends, family or business colleagues, you name it, you can bring them. Wishing to lavish your passengers in comfort and grace, the designers at Greenline have fitted the 39 with a bank of solar panels, which you can use for all the boat’s appliances, whether you are at sea or having a drink at the port . Even better, this means that the boat does not make a sound. No noise. No vibrations. No emissions. No disturbances. Nothing. Just you …

And the seagulls.

The 39 has high-performance LiPo Batteries 2 x 13.3 kWh in its hybrid edition, which have a charging rate of 8 kWh/day. Depending on your energy management and the weather conditions, this translates as 2 days on anchor, while using the full range of appliances that a family needs, including laptops, TVs, fridge and stove. Still, the non-hybrid is built with efficiency in mind. It consumes approximately 6.5 kWh/day for 4 people in a 24 hour period.

Looking at the exterior of the yacht, the cockpit and side decks are sheltered to afford your passengers maximum security and protection so that people of all ages and abilities can enjoy the weather. Plus, the Helmstand side door provides safe maneuvering throughout the boat.

The Greenline 40

The family favorite.

Biggest of all, the series provides the perfect venue for you to sit back with your family and enjoy. No work. No-fuss. Just sheer relaxation and comfort. With 2 cabins, a large salon, and a maximum of 6 berths, the Green 40 can cater to families of all shapes and sizes. And with a fuel capacity of 185 gal (700L) and water tank of 106 400L, there is no need to worry about running dry.

The Greenline 40 enjoys all of the Green technologies that makes Greenline so, well, green. It has 4 high performance LiPo batteries that allow the whole family to stay connected and entertained for 3 days on anchor. For those with more restrained usage, this can be more. Nonetheless, available as a diesel, electric or hybrid drive. This is a boat with green credentials.

For when the sun is dipping below the waves and it is time to relax, the Greenline 40 has an adaptive owners cabin , which supports a multiplicity of sleeping arrangements.

The Greenline 45 Coupe

Say hello to the ocean’s solar power plant.

Available as a Diesel Drive, Hybrid Drive or Electric Drive, the Greenline 45 can accommodate up to eight people with 2 or 3 spacious cabins, depending on customisation, and has two bathrooms. One of these cabins – yes, you guessed it, the master cabin – is full beam, meaning it is nearly 5 metres wide. What a treat. Its diesel tank has a large capacity of 396 gal (1,450L) and 159 gal (600) of freshwater, besides plenty of black water for whatever your needs.

Get ready to impress your guests with the homely natural wood table in the salon, and walk-in closet, and walk-in wardrobe for both cabins. Let the fashion shows commence.

But the Greenline 45 Coupe does not stop there. Like the previous models, it has EDrive technology. Built-in partnership with Torqeedo, this revolutionary technology provides silent, emission free propulsion along the waves, and integrated energy manages to run the boat’s domestic supply efficiently and ecologically. This is complemented by SIMRAD Navigation Electronics , complete with an extra-large navigation dashboard for your viewing pleasure. 

Enough of the tech stuff. There is also a hydraulic bathing platform which can be raised or lowered to ensure easy, safe access to the waves.

The Greenline 48 Fly

Independence at its finest

On the outside this boat is unmistakable. It will turn heads at the port. Thanks to its smartly designed covered sidewalks, the flybridge on the yacht is extra-large. It is wider than most of the other boats in its class. =

Greenline knows that a holiday should be relaxation par excellence. This is why they have developed extra wide and protected side passages, with side doors that aid speedy jumping on and off the ship, and an extra protective hardtop option that is enriched with additional solar panels. While the traditional side anchor is standard, Green also offers the option for a boat anchor.

Full-sized freezer? Check. Wine cooler? Check. Extra-large owner bed? Check. The convertible salon of the Greenline 48 Fly, with an adjustable table, offers the opportunity to transform the main dining area into extra berths for when your guests want to hit the hay.

2023 Greenline 48 Fly Hybrid

Not only is the Greenline 48 Fly Hybrid an exciting fresh release for 2023, it’s a leap forward in hybrid diesel-electric technology.

Powered by two types of engines, the 48 Fly can use its twin Yanmar 8LV, 370-hp diesel powertrains to sprint up to about 25-30 knots when needed, then rely on its two whisper-quiet electric motors to reach cruising speeds of 4 to 6.5 knots over a 20 nautical-mile range. In addition, a single charge of the boat’s lithium-polymer 40 kWh batteries lasts about three hours, but this range can be extended with use of the diesel engines, which act as generators during use. There is even a 700-watt array of solar panels on the coach roof for emissions-free recharging.

The 48, with a layout by J&J Design, is considered the flagship of the Greenline family of hybrid yachts, which first hit the market in 2009. While its nearly silent and earth-friendly operations are among its key attributes, the vessel does have some strikingly posh standard accommodations, such as dark laminate floors in the salon, a choice of teak veneer and upholstery colors in all furniture, and wooden Venetian blinds in golden oak or white oak.

The cockpit is wide and spacious, featuring a forward-facing teak bench seat and remote-controlled transom platform extender to create extra entertaining space for up to eight people. Inside the open-layout salon is a U-shaped sofa to port, a dinette table with foldable flaps, and an option for a Miele 48-bottle wine chiller. The salon, cockpit, and cabins are also equipped with a Fusion Apollo sound system, LED TVs, and satellite TV connections. The helm, forward of the salon, comes standard with a suite of Simrad navigation equipment, such as chartplotters, autopilot, and bow thruster controls, plus many other available options.

The starboard aft galley is equipped with a full-size refrigerator and freezer, a microwave with grill function, and an induction cooktop, all of which can be powered by the rechargeable batteries and solar panels. Sheltered, unobstructed side decks also provide plenty of room to move from the sun pad at the bow all the way to the stern. Up top, the flybridge is one of the largest offered by Greenline, featuring a portside helm station, a wet bar with a grill, a U-shaped settee, teak tables, and a sunbathing platform.

The cabins of the 48 Fly are arrayed in efficient, convertible layouts, with options for three or four cabins. The forward owner’s cabin has an en suite head and stand-up shower compartment, plus two berths that can be positioned together into one bed. The two or three aft guest cabins have access to their own heads

But performance may be the most unique aspect of the 48 Fly Hybrid. According to Greenline, operating the vessel will burn as little fossil fuel as a sailing yacht over a typical boating season and up to four times less than a twin-engine yacht of the same size.

Greenline 58 Fly: Where Sustainability Meets Sophistication

The new Greenline 58 Fly, which debuted at earlier this year at the Cannes Yachts Festival , is an impressive new model from the Slovenian builder Greenline , whose appeal primarily lies in its environmental sustainability, comfort and luxury.

Continuing the success of the previous Greenline 45 model, sold in more than 50 units, the builder decided to refresh the exterior and interior lines, and the person for the job was Marco Casali from Too Design studio. The recognizable characteristic of this model are straight, decisive exterior lines that retain the distinctive Greenline look and allow more natural light to seep into the interior.

The spaciousness of the Greenline 58 Fly is noticeable from getting aboard. The cockpit table is adjustable in height, while the benches are placed parallel to the longitudinal axis of the ship, so all guests enjoy the same view of the sea.

At the same time, this layout allows free flow of movement. Aft, there is another sitting bench, as well as a large hydraulic platform serving the tender or a jet-ski, with a load capacity of up to 500 kg.

Large and wide steps allow water access, impressive enough to be on a larger yacht. The main deck, where the cockpit, galley, salon and the command post all are, is a conceptually unique space where spaces can be connected or separated by cockpit doors.

The centrally positioned galley is large enough for preparing all meals, and the adjacent dining space in the cockpit is comfortable for all meals and cocktails. All kitchen appliances, including the large refrigerator, are made by the renowned Slovenian appliance maker Gorenje.

The salon is large enough to host an impressive oak dining table, with a bench that comfortably seats up to eight. The TV is hidden opposite the diner, in a low cabinet, and when in use, visible from the entire dining area. This space is flooded with natural light, seeping through the large windows, and enjoys an almost 360-degree view of the sea. This is also true of the interior command post, which enjoys excellent visibility.

The command console is ergonomically adapted for longer cruising, with Besenzoni leather seat with hand rests. The dedicated side door allow for easier communication with the bow, which comes in handy when anchoring. The command console on the fly bridge is dominated by two 60-inch plotters, which, in addition to navigational data, also monitors status of the electric drive and batteries.

Below deck, the new Greenline 58 has three spacious cabins and tree bathrooms with showers. The standing height in the cabins is 1.96 m, which, alongside the abundant natural light, makes the lower deck extremely pleasant and comfortable. The guest cabin is starboard, while the VIP cabin with a 2.1-meter long bed 2.1 and a private bathroom is located in the bow.

The full-width owner’s cabin, with a double bed, is astern. Also available is the version with a skipper’s cabin, which converts the 1.8 m high pantry space under the galley into a crew cabin.

The flybridge of the Greenline 58 comes standard with a carbon hard top. The designers paid special attention to reducing the total weight of the model, for making achieving the greatest possible range when using the electric drive.

The hard top on this model not only provides excellent protection from the sun and rain, but also has integrated solar panels that power the ship’s lithium batteries with additional 3.6 W, giving the yacht complete autonomy at anchor, without the need for a generator.

If the energy stored in the lithium batteries is used for navigation, the model boasts a 25-mile range at five knots, and with the use of the generator in the hybrid cruise mode, top speed jumps up to 6.5 knots, but without the absolute silence of the electric drive.

Greenline's protected Super-displacement hull shape generates less drag, less wake, creates the ability to use less fuel, generates lower CO2 emissions, and enables the use of electric power. It offers better seaworthiness and easier handling than any comparable hull. The reduced energy requirement means less running cost, less refueling stops and more time in your favorite anchorage or cruising grounds. Besides being efficient, the Super-displacement hull shows optimum performance in all sea conditions - an important factor in comfort and safety when underway. The Greenline manages even challenging sea conditions with ease, needing only minute corrections at the wheel. The twin sacrificial stabilizer fins are a further advantage of this hull, and have three functions: they deliver roll stability, tracking stability, and protect the drive and rudder. If the stabilizers get damaged, the structure of the boat will not be affected. These fins can be quickly and inexpensively replaced.

Greenline Hybrid can collect, store and use electrical energy from the sun, from the shore pick-up or from the main engine driven generator. With a solar array and a Hybrid drive electric unit this boat is a mobile power station providing a constant supply of AC power (230 or 120 VAC) on board.

Description

NEO represents a milestone in Greenline’s strategy and shows the commitment to the existing philosophy of environmentally friendly yachting, using eDrive technology, and to commute swiftly using outboard engines that are new for Greenline Yachts range at the same time. NEO eDrive is equipped with twin 80 hp Torqeedo Deep Blue electric outboard engines and dual 30,5 kWh (totalling 61 kWh) high performance lithium batteries allowing maximum range of 40 NM at 6 kts economic speed. At full throttle NEO eDrive will reach a top speed of 16 kts with the range of 20 NM. The way we use boats has changed in the past years. Accompanied by advanced technologies and in-depth studies NEO has been designed from the ground up by close cooperation with J&J Design. In order to make it equally attractive for different markets and climates we designed NEO to be available in three basic versions: Coupe, Hard Top and Open. Open and Hard Top share the same deck arrangements with generous social area aft and in the bow whereas Coupe offers remarkable salon area with excellent 360 visibility, fully functional galley equipped with full height fridge/freezer combo and an innovative access to the bow sun-pad. Following the signature features that represent the Greenline Yachts DNA, NEO is all about comfort and convenience onboard, be that only for a few hour joyride with friends, or on a longer cruise with your loved ones.

NEO is defined by it’s unique bathing platform which is the largest platform ever introduced on any outboard engine powered boat. It features a unique hydraulic lifting mechanism for the platform, which is surrounding the engines making it much larger than on any competitor in the outboard class. The adaptable stairs connecting the platform and the cockpit are integrated into the platform itself ensuring a safe and comfortable passage at any height of the platform. The cockpit features a generous U-shaped seating area with a wet bar making it a perfect place to relax or entertain your friends and family. The helmsman’s position features a comfortable bench with room enough for two guests and helmsman to enjoy the ride and appreciate the visibility and ergonomics of the dashboard. In addition to the cockpit entertaining area, there is an intimate U shaped bow lounge area just above the cabin accessible via a unique passage through the windshield to port. Following the Greenline Yachts One Level Living concept there is only one step to overcome from the cockpit to the bow also making it safe and effortless to bring up the mooring line in case of stern-to Mediterranean docking. Greenline NEO can host up to unprecedented 16 guests, 11 of which are able to face forward during navigation which represents a uniquely comfortable and safe feeling while piercing through the waves.

NEO Coupe features a full size cabin down below with an “island” double berth or optional Greenline’s signature “scissor” berths together with surprisingly spacious head compartment and ample wardrobe and storage space. Open and Hard Top versions also share the cabin layout with the separate toilet compartment and a V-shaped settee with a table that can be transformed into a double berth. Choosing from broad range of interior upholstery fabric options and colors including furniture wood each NEO can be an individual of its own and a pride and joy of it’s owner.

We are Dymph and Wim Bijnen, the proud owners of Greenline 40 named Dymple. We made some changes to the boat – the blue hull, extra teak on the sun deck and on the benches in the cockpit gives this boat more cachet. For this summer a trip is planned to the Olympics in London where there is a big Sail Parade on the Thames to London.

As we owned lots of boats before we know it’s impossible to design and built a new boat without any problems, however Greenline/Seaway pursued in getting the boat right! We have never seen service like this before, big compliments to Seaway and Nova yachting. We are now the proud owners of this wonderful hybrid. As we use the boat in the northern part of the Netherlands it’s awesome to sail electric through parts were there are only lots of birds, the silence is amazing. What we also love is just anchor somewhere in the middle of nature without worrying about shore-power and still have all the luxury like we were at home. In short; we love the setup of this hybrid! It’s quiet, full of luxury and very versatile. Love it! Greenline 33, too awesome.

We are very happy with our Greenline 40. It gives a new dimension for family navigation. The boat is comfortable and really easy to handle.

Jon and Anne Fleming live on the Gold Coast. They have owned a Greenline Hybrid 40 since 2013 and clocked up over 1000NM in the first year. The couple have owned a lot of boats over the years – we asked them why they chose the Greenline this time.

“We wanted to sometimes travel without noise. We chose the hybrid version of the Greenline for that reason and often use it when the tide is in our favour – and it’s terrific – both effective and efficient. We live on the Gold Coast and go away for a day or 2 at a time heading to South Stradbroke Island and Jumpinpin. The Greenline is very comfortable for overnight trips away with everything we want – we often say it’s just like an apartment. We love the large galley and great fridge. We also love the full size beds in the main cabin – it’s easy to divide them in the in day time and push them together in seconds at night.

Easter in Mooloolaba

For Easter we went to Mooloolaba which is around 80 miles from us. It was quite rough off the northern top of Moreton Island but we were reasonably comfortable on board and the boat handled the conditions beautifully. We had 4 adults and 2 children on board for the long weekend. We had a fantastic time – dropping the stern down to enjoy the water and indoor-outdoor living. I guess for us the Greenline stood out from the crowd. We wanted plenty of shade, walk around decks, single level living and a swim platform. We also love the overall visibility and the fact that we can sit in the cabin and watch TV. The living space is really well thought out. We are absolutely thrilled with boat and our experience with eyachts has been very good. They attend to everything straightaway and are a pleasure to deal with.”

John Bossi had his eye on the Greenline for months. After several boat shows, lots of reading and research, he made a shared decision with his wife, Jo. The couple finally settled on the Greenline 33 Hybrid over their second choice, a catamaran. In his own words, John shares with us what his family loves about the Greenline 33…

Why the Greenline 33? “At first the attraction was the styling. The Greenline has a unique look for the market…it’s retro but modern. The combination of design and material like the beautiful woods give it a great look. I’m also impressed with its phenomenal value for money just in the purchase price. That’s on top of the savings you gain from its hybrid engine and solar power features.”

Where has the Greenline taken you? “Mainly day trips on Sydney Harbour and an overnight at Cockle Bay. We had it offshore in a 2 to 3 meter swell and it exceeded my expectations. The Greenline is gentle and plows through waves easily. It’s a supremely seaworthy yacht. The steering is relaxed and doesn’t roll as much as some of our past boats. There is none of the slamming you get on a planning hull. We look forward to doing some coastal cruising and more overnights in the future.”

How’s life aboard? “We love it! We have 3 children and lots of friends and family we like to entertain. I’m Italian and my wife loves to cook big meals – its our way of relaxing, creating memories with our favourite people. The Greenline is a perfect fit for our lifestyle – it’s truly an entertainers’ boat.” The Greenline has a great layout with a seamless flow from inside to out. I’m always involved in what’s happening when I’m driving. Again, in my other boats, I was on the flybridge talking down to everyone below. We also had our Christmas party on board. I invited the staff from my dental practice to a restaurant for what they thought was lunch and showed up in the Greenline. They were ecstatic! With 10 guests on board we had a blast cruising Sydney Harbour on a beautiful summer day.”

Any surprises on the Greenline? “One night we docked off Cockle Bay for dinner thinking it would be a great way to avoid driving late at night. We went back to the boat around midnight when we realized the party on Cockle Bay was just getting started! Surprisingly, as soon as we shut the door our world went silent for a great night of sleep! I had no idea the sound insulation was that good.”

What would you like potential Greenline owners to know? “It’s an extremely versatile boat. The brochures indicates this, but it wasn’t until going to 3 boat shows and owning one myself that I realised what that meant. There are actually 5 saloon configurations we use when we have guests aboard (see photos below).

Each configuration takes seconds to arrange. Also the bed in the owner’s cabin is so easy to convert – again seconds. Having two entrances into the bathroom is a really nice privacy feature. The engines are also easy to access.”

How was eyachts ? “Working with Dan Jones was great… there were never problems, only solutions. I found that across the board with everyone I was in contact with at eyachts. I’ve made a lot of purchases from dental equipment to motorcycles. I have never experienced a standard set so high across an organisation. I love the espresso machine that Dan gave me as a purchase gift – perfect for an Italian. It was very thoughtful and a great ending to a wonderful experience.”

Our names are Ron and Andrena Williams. We purchased our Greenline 33 about 5 months ago through a wonderful agent; Richard Wardenburg and his lovely wife Suzy, from Auckland NZ. We have really enjoyed this boat, it is ideal for our situation in The Marlborough Sounds, S.I. of New-Zealand. The Marlborough Sounds has 1,500 km`s of coastal waterways, with variable winds and seas flat, to quite rough at times. Greenline travels well and, no-one experiences motion sickness on this boat. It is ergonomically excellent, with the extended deck area enabling us to partake in more activities, more easily, such as divine, swimming. The cost per hour to “run” at 5.7litres of diesel, is envied by other boat users. PS: My wife has a fear of water and boats but has gotten quite confident on our Greenline 33.

Despite the acceptance of hybrid technology in cars, similar technology in boats still raises a few eyebrows, but there is no reason why it has any less promise in marine applications. Indeed, it may well be the future of powered boating and Slovenian boat builder Greenline is leading the way.

Hull shape and Hybrid propulsion are reducing the fuel consumption and environmental impact as well as increasing the comfort and quality of life on board.

The Greenline 33 is not only the big surprise of the year but arguably the most significant new boat of the decade.
