Each charter yacht has a professional on board crew trained in five star service to ensure each meal is catered to the highest possible standard. Whether you prefer formal dining, alfresco lunches or sundeck barbeques, your on board Chef can cater to your every gastronomic delight. From beautifully assembled four course meals to delicious snacks and nibbles, there is no doubt that your food will be nothing but exquisite. With superb service and a personalised menu, the mouth-watering cuisine aboard a superyacht is the epitome of gourmet dining.

Before you embark upon your luxury charter, you and your guests will be asked to complete a preference sheet which will itemise in detail any dietary requirements, food allergies and medical conditions that the crew should be made aware of prior to departure. Be as detailed as you can be. If you are on a strict diet, mention it; if you only like white chocolate, put it down as the crew will then use this sheet to familiarise themselves with your likes, dislikes and how you like to dine. Be completely honest and maybe even adventurous and you will not be disappointed. Once this preference sheet has been reviewed by the crew, you can rest assured that the cuisine on-board your yacht charter will be nothing less than perfect.

Prior to your charter check about the possibility of an exchange with your on board Chef, this way you can work together and establish which foods you would like to eat whilst you are offshore. This will ensure the only food served during your stay will consist of ingredients specifically requested by you meaning each and every meal will be tailor-made to perfection.

Don’t be shy when mentioning your specific requirements; the worst you could say is "we’ll eat anything" which of course is untrue. Your Chef will be familiar with special requests and will have handled many personal preferences on previous yacht charters such as, vegetarian, gluten free, diabetic friendly and low calorie, so don’t be afraid to be specific.

Dine on the very best gourmet cuisines, cooked and expertly prepared by a world-class Chef.

Remember, Chefs will not have access to large supplies of ingredients once the yacht has set sail and although it may be possible to source ingredients locally; this is dependent on your charter destination. Be sure to mention if you have a special occasion whilst on board as yacht charter crews love to host a party. From pirate themed nights to decadent dinner parties, what better way to celebrate than with a feast of culinary delights alongside your favourite people with a slice of personalised birthday cake for dessert?

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such option offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!” wrote (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as this offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This website (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other website sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center: Hotel Ukraine and Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Located on Destin harbor, Boshamps is the culmination of more than 40 years in the restaurant business.

Snapper Destin features a little bit of everything the Gulf has to offer. It is made with fresh snapper, lump crab, Gulf shrimp, house-made collard greens and mashed potatoes.

“It always has been and always will be one of our best sellers and most complimented dishes,” Miller said.

They also offer corn and crab chowder that was the original recipe from the Flamingo Cafe. Other items on the menu include a fried green tomato and jumbo lump crab and Oysters Boshamps, which is baked with caramelized Vidalia onion, feta cheese and hose-made bacon marmalade. Plus, they have a few fixins on the menu, such as mac and cheese, Miller’s green beans, smashed red early potatoes and bacon braised collards to name a few.

Boshamps is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. They offer live music on the back deck.

Dewey Destin's Seafood Restaurant

(9 Calhoun Avenue, Destin)

It may look like a shack on the water, but it has great views of Crab Island and serves up great seafood seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Named after the Destin family that founded the town in 1835, Dewey’s is located just off Calhoun Avenue on a gravel road that takes you down to the restaurant that sits on Choctawhatchee Bay.

It’s very casual at this venue. Patrons order at the window, then find a place to sit and take in the view. Most of the seating is outside on the docks that reach out into the bay.

“Don’t be alarmed when one of our friendly employees comes hollering your name – they're just bringing your meal to you,” according to the website.

Since opening on the bay in 2001, Dewey’s has opened other restaurants: Dewey Destin’s Harborside, which is a bit bigger and located on Destin harbor; and Dewey Destin’s Navarre.

But as for the original, it still serves up fried and grilled baskets full of fresh seafood with corn-on-the-cob and new potatoes with the grilled baskets and French fries and hush puppies for the fried baskets. They also serve up burgers, chicken sandwiches, smoked tuna dip, crab cakes and salads to name a few.

The Edge Seafood Restaurant and Skybar

(302 Harbor Boulevard, Destin)

One of the newest waterfront restaurants is The Edge Seafood Restaurant and Skybar east of The Boathouse, which opened in 2022.

The Edge, which sits on top of the water, is open and spacious with great views of the harbor and beyond.

The Skybar, an adult-only rooftop bar, has couches, an open fire pit and is a great place to enjoy a drink and watch the sunset, boats and even a fireworks show. It also offers happy hour specials on cocktails and small plates every night from 4 to 6 p.m. and live entertainment every night.

Only open a couple of years, The Edge is already making a name for itself with a few of its menu items, such as the seafood gumbo, mahi tacos, baked oysters and duck jalapeno poppers. They also have a crawfish boil every weekend.

The Edge, which is boat accessible, is open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner. It's open 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Harry T's Lighthouse

(46 Harbor Boulevard, Destin)

Harry T's, at the mouth of the Destin harbor in HaborWalk Village just south of the Emerald Grande, can easily be spotted by the black and white lighthouse. It offers great views of the harbor and East Pass from most any seat in the house.

Harry T's specializes in local seafood and partners with local distributors such as WaterStreet, Destin Ice and Harbor Docks Wholesale Market to serve up the freshest possible.

The eatery offers brunch seven days a week starting at 10 a.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday with bottomless mimosas.

Harry T's also has a happy hour Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. with $2 off all beer and cocktails as well as two-for-one house wines.

Although it specializes in fresh seafood with great fish tacos, it serves American cuisine. The menu includes seafood, steak, chicken and pasta dishes. Some of the favorites include a fried basket with popcorn shrimp or grouper strips, Gulf grouper marsala, Tuna Acadian or a seafood salad roll.

Dumplings, kebabs and cheesy bread boats can be found at the new Georgian Chef in Howell

You may have never tried Georgian dumplings, or even knew they existed.

But after leaving Georgian Chef in Howell — an authentic Georgian restaurant that opened Feb. 24 — it's a good bet you'll think these soupy dumplings (also known as khinkali) are one of the best foods you've ever tasted.

Owner Roini Mgaloblishvili is a Michelin Guide chef who cut his teeth in Brooklyn's famous Ubani Georgian Restaurant after emigrating with his family from Georgia in 2017. He can be found in the kitchen creating masterpieces with aromas that hit you as soon as you walk through the door.

His family — wife Margalita Chincharauli, their son Levani and daughter Irina — helps run the restaurant, which is draped with calming foliage and warm colors. They greet guests and graciously explain the menu — sharing tips on how to best enjoy the food.

"We grew up eating this food ...," Irina said. "[Our] goal is for people to like and accept a new kind of food and flavor."

Levani taught us how to eat Georgian dumplings without wasting any of the delicious broth hidden inside. Hold the dumpling at the top and take a small bite, sucking out all the savory juices. Then you're free to enjoy the rest of the delightful dough pocket.

"(It's) wrapped, and then boiled, so it has a lot of soup in it," Irina added.

The family brought the spices used to create the addictive dumpling flavors from Georgia, she explained. They also brought several flavors of Georgian lemonade, such as pear, lemon and tarragon (our favorite).

"[My father's] food is really good, and we thought managing our own restaurant would be a better opportunity for us," Irina said. "Most people have really liked it because of the unique flavors."

After living in Brooklyn for six years, the family moved to Chesterfield Township (Burlington County) about a year ago. In Georgia, none of them were involved in the food industry: Chincharauli was a school principal and Mgaloblishvili was a rugby coach.

So the desire to share cuisine from their culture is a labor of love.

Be warned, though, the restaurant is hidden in plain sight. The Georgian Chef is tucked into a strip mall along Route 9. The sign above the restaurant reads Raine’s Kitchen, the Spanish place that used to be at this location. (The Georgian Chef sign is coming, they said, but it will take a few months.)

Soul-warming dishes include Adjaruli Khachapuri, a Georgian bread boat filled with gooey cheese and egg yolk. The bread is meant to be ripped and dipped into the creamy mixture while still hot.

"We make the cheese ourselves in the kitchen, ..." Irina said. "... It makes you full, but it doesn't make you sleepy ... "

Another popular dish is the pork and beef, or lamb, lula kebabs. The ground meat on skewers is grilled and rolled into lavash bread. You also should try the eggplant rolls with walnut fenugreek garlic paste and fresh pomegranate (served cold); and the Georgian Traditional Salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, Georgian sunflower oil and crisp herbs.

Don't forget the Napoleon Cake, a melt-in-your-mouth puff pastry with whipped cream filling and crumbs.

The restaurant also does take out and catering. All the food is shareable, and that communal experience is very much a part of Georgian culture.

"There are a lot of Georgians in Howell," Irina said. "They know the food, but we've had mostly Americans and people who don't know our food [come in], and it's been great. We enjoy when people like it."
