Haunted Mansion review: "Breathes new life into the classic Disney ride"
Family-friendly, spooky fun with surprising emotional heft and an ensemble cast clearly having a ball.

Disney is no stranger to turning its beloved attractions into films. This isn't even the first time Haunted Mansion has been adapted for the screen; Eddie Murphy headed up a version in 2003 that fared well at the box office (but not so much with critics). But this fresh take from director Justin Simien ( Dear White People ) and scribe Katie Dippold (2016's Ghostbusters ) breathes enthusiastic new life into the classic ride.
The plot sees single mother Gabbie (Rosario Dawson) and her son Travis (Chase Dillon) seeking to start over in a cobwebbed New Orleans mansion. But when things start going bump in the night, a motley crew of eccentric experts is called in to deal with those (un)happy haunts - and one sinister spectre in particular, Jared Leto's mysterious Hatbox Ghost.
As our team of paranormal investigators shifts from misfit group of strangers to close-knit found family, a spirited chemistry develops among the starry cast. Danny DeVito (historian), Owen Wilson (priest), and Tiffany Haddish (psychic) bag laugh-out-loud moments, while Jamie Lee Curtis has an entertaining (if small) role as crystal-ball-bound medium Madame Leota. Cameos from Winona Ryder and Dan Levy also delight. And though Leto's performance is buried beneath heavy vocal effects, the Hatbox Ghost emerges as a dastardly foe.
The Haunted Mansion itself is also a lively character, whipping up family-friendly peril via moving portraits, suddenly endless hallways, and other spooky surprises. Much of the action is confined to but a few rooms; more could have been made of the house's sprawling potential. Still, Simien makes the most of the space as it stands, lovingly packing the movie with Easter eggs (without ever assuming knowledge of the original attractions).
Anchoring all the wacky fun is a surprisingly emotional performance from LaKeith Stanfield as tour guide Ben, a widower consumed by grief. Chase Dillon, meanwhile, is a moving standout as a struggling, sweet but socially awkward youngster; the film's exploration of loss tugs hard at the heartstrings and makes for a cathartic third act, proving it was well worth re-opening the Mansion doors.
Haunted Mansion is in US theaters from July 28 and in UK cinemas from August 11. For everything else the House of Mouse has in store, see our guide to all the upcoming Disney movies .

Love love love the idea of audio books---what have been the "favs" in your class? Which is French for "I'd love to do that but am too lazy to listen to 100 hours of books to preview when Cassie already has hit this one out of the park"--once again! Thanks! And thank you for sharing your classroom and fun with us. You are making my year so much more enjoyable!
Love this new twist on a classic! Saw it on Ginger's page and fell in love! It's nice to see your interpretation of it. Definitely going in the vault for next year! -M3
I loved this! Thanks for your amazing ideas!
Can you tell me what kind of paint you used for the silhouettes? I really enjoyed listening to you teach. I'm sure your students must adore you! I can't wait to try this lesson with my classes. Thank you!
I really appreciate this wonderful post that you have provided for us. I assure this would be beneficial for most of the people. Παράθυρα
I don’t have a lot of the materials would it look ok with plain pastels and regular paint?! No silver sharpies here either
You can use white colored pencil on black construction paper. I did this with regular oil pastels, watercolor and kosher salt. Regular paint won't give you the texture of a puffy paint however, you can add acrylic paint to school glue and mix it up really well to create your own puffy paint. Hope this helps!

‘Haunted Mansion’ Materializes on Disney+ Just in Time for Halloween
You’ve got another chance to watch the theme park attraction adaptation this October
“Haunted Mansion,” Disney’s second attempt at adapting its beloved theme park attraction as a live-action feature (the first was “The Haunted Mansion,” starring Eddie Murphy, released 20 years ago), will soon find a home on Disney+. The new movie — released theatrically this past July and starring LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Rosario Dawson and Tiffany Haddish — will debut on Disney’s streaming platform on Oct. 4, just in time for Halloween spooky season.
In this “Haunted Mansion,” Dawson plays a young single mother who moves into the titular abode, which is stuffed (of course) with 999 happy haunts. She calls on a variety of paranormal experts, including Stanfield (who does New Orleans ghost tours), Wilson (a priest) and Haddish (a psychic), along with Danny DeVito as a local history professor with a keen knowledge of the house and its tangled history.
Also, Jamie Lee Curtis shows up as Madame Leota, the iconic Haunted Mansion character (she’s the iconic medium-in-the-crystal ball from the attraction). As you might expect, they soon uncover a much darker mystery — one involving the Hatbox Ghost (played by Jared Leto), a sinister character that was initially part of the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland but was removed quickly after the ride opened in 1969… only to return in 2015 for the park’s 60th-anniversary celebration. (He’ll be installed in the Walt Disney World version of the attraction later this fall.)
“Haunted Mansion” was directed by Justin Simien, the “Dear White People” creator and a former Disneyland cast member, and written by Katie Dippold (2016’s “Ghostbusters” redo). It is packed with a truly insane number of Easter eggs and references to the original ride, including to things that didn’t make it into the initial version of the attraction or were floated for the Museum of the Weird concept that predated the Haunted Mansion. It really is an extravaganza for Disney fans.
When the movie was released earlier this summer, it had the misfortune of immediately following the “Barbie”/”Oppenheimer” phenomenon and opened just as the SAG strike barred its starry cast from appearing on talk shows or talking to the press. It’s a shame, too, because the movie is a charming, visually stunning romp for the whole family. And it will undoubtedly find a whole new audience on Disney+ and home video — getting some big “Hocus Pocus” vibes here, as they were both Disney scary movies released in the summer and reclaimed as cult favorites.
“Haunted Mansion” will be made available across digital retail platforms the same day as its Disney+ release, Oct. 4, and will be available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on Oct. 17.
Guests Can Now Spend the Night in Disney’s Haunted Mansion
in Walt Disney World
The Gracey Manor is home to 15 rooms, six stretching portraits, wall-to-wall creeps, hot and cold running chills, and 999 Happy Haunts with room for 1000. The reputation of Disney’s Haunted Mansion spans back to the earliest days of the Disney Parks, and it is undoubtedly one of the most popular attractions in any Disney property.
The manor has its own storyline, books, comic books, merchandise line, a new full-length movie underway , and fans still clamor for more. What some might not know is that Disney fans can stay overnight in one of the most famous houses in the world.
Overnight at the Haunted Mansion
Die-hard Haunted Mansion fans will know that both Disneyland’s original and Walt Disney World’s expanded version were based on real houses, many with haunted histories. However, while the version in California takes influence from places like the iconic Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, the Dutch-Colonial-inspired version in Florida takes a lot more from the east coast.

A prominent feature in any great work of art is an element of truth, and that can resoundingly be said of anything Disney creates, even their theme park rides. That being said, the inspiration behind Disney World’s Haunted Mansion offers something fans of both versions of the ride will adore.

The Harry Packer Mansion shares more than a few similarities with the Magic Kingdom’s classic dark ride, and it doesn’t end with its eerie exterior. The decor, portraits, palate and atmosphere were all primary inspirations behind Walt Disney World’s manor, and now fans can spend the night in the victorian gothic house.
Located in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, the Harry Packer Mansion is now a bed and breakfast where fans of Disney’s iconic haunted house can take a weekend getaway. While they won’t find any Happy Haunts or even a mischievous spirit, they will find a gorgeously gothic atmosphere to satisfy their ghostly cravings.

Haunted Mansion Ending Explained
Posted: July 27, 2023 | Last updated: January 8, 2024
Alistair crump’s plan to escape the haunted mansion explained, why the haunted mansion’s ghosts don’t move on after they’re freed, the deeper meaning of alyssa’s message to ben from the beyond, what madame leota’s choice to return to her crystal ball means for her future, how haunted mansion compares to eddie murphy’s 2003 film, the real meaning of haunted mansion’s ending.
Warning: This post contains MAJOR spoilers for Haunted Mansion
- Alistair Crump's goal was to trap 1,000 souls and use dark magic to exact revenge and cause chaos, aiming to obtain full power and untether himself from the Haunted Mansion.
- The ghosts in the Haunted Mansion chose to stay even after Alistair's defeat, wanting to reclaim their space and find closure, as they were no longer terrorized by him.
- The ending of Haunted Mansion highlights the theme of overcoming grief and the power of love and support, showing that life is worth living despite loss and allowing the characters to move forward.
Justin Simien’s Haunted Mansion remake ends with a final showdown between the living characters and Alistair Crump, the dark magic-using ghost who aims to claim his 1000th soul during the full moon. Alistair, otherwise known as the Hatbox Ghost, had attempted to lure Ben to death, preying on his grief. What Ben, Gabbie, and the others didn’t know was that Alistair was also writing to Travis as his deceased father.
Alistair’s influence on Travis, who was also still raw from grief, nearly got him what he wanted, but Ben intervened. LaKeith Stanfield’s character pretended to agree to being Alistair’s final soul, but he was simply a decoy. Alistair, excited about getting what he wanted after so long, didn’t notice that Harriet and Madame Leota were using magic to send him to the other side. Using his hat, they were able to succeed, and Alistair was banished once and for all. The remaining ghosts within the Haunted Mansion remained, however, though the residence was no longer a volatile one. The closing scene sees the ghosts and humans living in harmony together.
Alistair Crump not only haunted the mansion, but he haunted the ghosts who were stuck inside with him. His goal was to trap 1,000 souls — who came willingly, but not without being heavily influenced by Crump — so that he could be free of the Haunted Mansion. Without constraint, Alistair could do what he pleased with no limits. He could also go back to using dark magic freely, while also being able to assert his power in the world of the living. Crucially, Alistair Crump wanted to continue the work he was doing before, using dark magic to exact revenge and otherwise cause chaos.
Alistair was a terror alive and dead, and he wanted to maintain the same power he had during his initial reign by untethering himself from the mansion. Manipulation, scare tactics, and greed pushed him forward. Alistair may have been hurt by his father shunning him, but his use of dark magic and his evil plans created harm that touched everyone around him. Alistair needed 1,000 souls as a blood sacrifice of sorts; without them, he wouldn’t have been able to obtain full power. His plans were as insidious in death as they were in life.
After the Hatbox Ghost’s defeat, the Haunted Mansion’s ghosts didn’t move on like Ben, Gabbie et al. expected they would. After all, who would want to stay behind if they had the chance to leave a place with such horrible memories? But Alistair being gone meant the ghosts were now free to do what they wanted within the mansion. They likely felt they still had much to do before moving on, and they finally had the opportunity to do it now that Alistair would no longer be terrorizing them every night.
The Haunted Mansion was as much a part of them and their histories as it was to Alistair, and the ghosts stuck around because they wanted to reclaim their space and the lost time they spent in fear. Remaining within the Haunted Mansion was the ghosts’ own form of closure; they could finally be at peace, though there was still plenty left for them to do before they decided to move on. What’s more, the ghosts are no longer feared by Gabbie and Travis, which means they can live together, sharing the space they all called home without the shadow of Alistair’s plans.
Ben was skeptical of the paranormal, but he was also missing Alyssa. He became a paranormal tour guide to be close to her, but Harriet’s revelation regarding the dead being able to communicate from the beyond gave him hope. At the end of Haunted Mansion , Ben finally receives a message from Alyssa via a dog’s collar, which reads “Tater Tot.” The message was a nod to one of Alyssa’s favorite foods, but it was deeper than that. Alyssa was trying to communicate to Ben that she was still with him in spirit, and that he wasn’t alone. The message was a nudge for Ben to move forward with his life.
Madame Leota was trapped in her crystal ball by Alistair Crump, and she only emerged briefly to help Harriet rid the mansion of his ghost. At the end of Haunted Mansion , Madame Leota chooses to return to the crystal ball, claiming that it’s not so bad. This decision is similar to the rest of the ghosts’ choice to remain within the Haunted Mansion rather than move on. Madame Leota became accustomed to her crystal ball, and it seems she’d rather spend eternity in there than move on.
Madame Leota could continue to assist Harriet in her work. There is much to teach the younger psychic. With Madame Leota’s book, Harriet could become an even more highly sought after psychic, and it’s likely Leota’s knowledge will help Harriet understand the Haunted Mansion’s ghosts all the more, perhaps aiding them in moving on when they’re ready. Either way, Madame Leota is still free of Alistair, and though she’s still confined to one particular space, she’s able to use her abilities without being held back.
2023’s Haunted Mansion is a remake of the 2003 Eddie Murphy film , The Haunted Mansion . Both films are adaptations of the popular Disney theme park attraction, but there are only a few similarities between them. The characters in Simien’s Haunted Mansion are different. Murphy’s film was primarily about the Evers family, who come to the Haunted Mansion for some time away, only to find themselves in the midst of a plot to reunite William Gracey, the dead owner of the mansion, with his beloved Elizabeth.
2023’s Haunted Mansion takes an entirely new path, the film's narrative more focused on grief and the support of friends. The antagonists of both films also have disparate motives that fuel them. That said, both iterations include aspects of the theme park attraction they’re based on, including characters such as Gracey and Madame Leota, who appear in each film, the latter with the same skill set. While the films each have their silly moments, the Haunted Mansion remake is scarier than the original and has deeper themes.
Haunted Mansion deals a lot with grief, and the ending — which sees both Ben and Travis rejecting Alistair’s offer to be reunited with their loved ones in the beyond — purports that life is worth living despite overwhelming grief. Ben and Travis deeply missed their wife and father, respectively, but the love they shared continues to live on in spirit. Ben wanted to be reunited with Alyssa, and his guilt surrounding the last thing he said to her exacerbated his grief.
But Haunted Mansion posits that once surrounded by love and support, the overpowering sense of grief ebbs. It’s still deeply felt, but the loss of a loved one should not stop one from continuing to live a full life. Ben and Travis aren’t the only ones who have felt and experienced loss within the group, and the realization they aren’t alone, and that Alyssa and Travis’ father are at peace in the beyond allows them to move forward, no longer paralyzed by their sadness.

This is another remake of Haunted Mansion from the one in 2003 with Eddie Murphy, and I must say that I am not sure which one I would recommend at this point. They both had strengths, but had a bit more weakness than the other. Now I have not watched the original one in a long time, but they did both have messages that were important. I had to keep starting the 2023 installment over again, due to getting distracted, which is not a good sign when watching a movie. A solid film grabs you from the beginning to end most of the time. I had to really just sit down and pay attention to write my honest thoughts. Some might disagree, but my theory was that this movie was going to be so much fun, hilarious and a joy to watch. It starts off mysterious, which I did appreciate, but I feel like people will get lost in who the audience is truly aiming for with this movie.
This version of Haunted Mansion has a little bit of a different story, but still a good message Single windowed mother Gabbie (Rosario Dawson) is a doctor who moved with her son Travis (Chase W. Dillon) for a fresh new start. She happens upon several fun and interesting characters and people in New Orleans. Once they settle in the mansion, they realize it is inhabited by spirits, and not all good ones. Gabbie decides to hire several of the town’s residents to help her rid the house of these entities, as they are not allowed to leave once inside without being followed by a ghost. One in particular local resident named Ben Matthias (LaKeith Stanfield) shares a similar grief to Gabbie as he has recently lost his wife unexpectedly. The evil part of the house feeds on grief, so it is interesting to see things unfold.
The excitement for most will be over the cast. Haunted Mansion has a stellar cast made of up Rosario Dawson, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis, Owen Wilson, LaKeith Stanfield and Jared Leto. The casting is something to jump for joy over, but it failed to truly show the specialty these extremely talented actors have in my opinion. With DeVito, Haddish and Wilson in this movie should have people hysterical. I only found a few lines here and there that made me actually laugh or giggle. I expected more there to be honest. That was disappointing. It really was not the fault of the actors though. They worked with what they were given. The writing could have been much better. There is a lag in the middle of the movie that will lose many people. And it is very confusing if this is aimed at adults, teens or kids. There is nothing substantial at what the goal was there, although Jamie Lee Curtis was given decent material, as she was one of my favorite characters.
There were elements of this movie that I enjoyed. The mood, the hauntings were fun, the cinematography was good, and the special effects were not cheesy. So, that was a major plus as it set the mood. Some of my favorite moments were with Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis and Tiffany Haddish. Their characters were fun, but Haddish should have had some better lines that made the audience tickled with laughter as she is a well-known comedian. There is too much talent in this movie to not utilize the actors for their special talents, which is capturing the audience. A few laughs here and there is not enough for these comedic talents that can bring the laughter home.
I also enjoyed some of the serious moments about grief. That is such an important topic, especially in today’s society. It is relatable in losing people we love, and that aspect was done well. Getting to know who the ghosts were and what was going on in the house added some thrills to the movie.
The directing of this movie by Justin Simien was well done as far as the filming went, such as everything in the background. I am not too familiar with Simien’s work, but I can say he should have recognized that this movie was far too long to hold anybody’s attention as it dragged on the storyline. It slows in the middle, and you get lost. It starts off good enough, then gets to the middle where you just feel like you are watching a never-ending story that plays out for hours. This movie should have cut parts out and been shorter – keeping it simpler and straight forward and to the point. It did not need to be over two hours.
If you enjoy these types of movies, go for it. It ends with somewhat of a bang, but again, the lag was brutal, which can ruin an entire film. I would not recommend this to anybody unfortunately. If I did, it would just be for the cast. I think many will prefer the original version more. The actors did well for what it was, so I would not put any blame on them for the shortcomings of this movie. You work with the material you are given. And they did that very well. But this movie could have been memorable, and it just was not. It was not horrible, but it was not something you are going to remember or that will be a Halloween staple.

14 Terrifying Haunted Theaters Across America
Is there anything more fun than a haunted theater? You can’t think of anything can you? Maybe a chimpanzee on a skateboard, but that's a tie at best. Haunted theaters and theater ghost stories are some of the coolest things you can come across when you’re on a ghost hunting trip through the good ol’ U.S. of A.
Theater ghosts tend to be manifestations of people that once worked at the theater they’re now haunting; actors and stage hands alike have been known to float through theater, decades after the drew their last breath, and spook everybody out. Theater ghosts are the best . Even if you’re a skeptic you have to admit that there’s something ominous about being all alone in a theater when the lights go down.
If you were a theater kid in high school then you’ll be all too familiar with plenty of these urban legends of hanging stage hands, or ghostly theater guests who vanished mid performance. The spirits that haunt these eerie theaters either love being around show business or they can’t free themselves from this earthly plane, but either way they don’t seem to be angry about it. Never the less, there’s nothing more unsettling than walking through a pitch black theater and knowing that something is lurking in the shadows – even if it is just the ghost of a girl named Mary who only sits in seat C-5 and just sort of hangs out. Could you handle an evening in any of these haunted theaters? Or would you be calling for the Ghostbusters by the end of the first act?
The Granbury Opera House
The ghosts at night are big and bright (clap clap clap clap) deep in the heart of Texas. If you're taking Highway 377 through the Lone Star state you'll find yourself in Grandbury, Texas, home of the famous Grandbury Opera House. The theater may have been staffed by one John Wilkes Booth while he was on the run for the minor crime of killing the President of the United States of America .
The story goes that after Booth had his leg fixed up while on the run he made his way to Grandbury, where he changed his name to John St. Helens (a fantastic fake name if ever there were one). According to local legend St. Helens spent a lot of time at the Opera House, and on his death bed he admitted to being the one and only John Wilkes Booth.
People say that they've run into a black clad thespian in the Opera House and that he can recite Shakespeare at the drop of a hat - even when there's nothing going on at the Opera House. Is the ghost of St. Helens/John Wilkes Booth? If you're ever in Grandbury and run into this spooky fellow make sure to ask him how he feels about tyrants and/or ostentatious fake names.
The W.E. Scott Theater
After you stop by the Stock Yards for some buckin' broncos and barbecue, take a trip to Fort Worth's own W.E. Scott Theater, a spot that's been known to host the manifestations of its founder, William Edrington Scott. Scott died of lung cancer before seeing his vision and future namesake brought to life.
Another entity that haunts the building is that of Kenneth Walker Yandle, an actor who was employed by the theater as a stage hand. Local reports say that Yandle committed suicide by hanging himself in the prop room of the theater in 1970, and that he's been heard laughing beneath the stage. It's good that he kept his sense of humor in the afterlife, at least.
Cincinnati Music Hall
For some reason Ohio is really, super haunted. Whether it's "the ridges," a haunted asylum turned art museum that's so spooky that two people have to open and close it every night, or the Cincinnati Music Hall, a theater that was built over a potter's field - a cemetery for the destitute, Ohio is bonkers haunted.
And just in case you think that's an old wives' tale, in 1988, during the installation of an elevator shaft, bones of adults and children were exhumed from under the Music Hall. People have been seeing ghosts on the property since at least 1876. John Engst, a night watchman for the Music Hall, has had plenty of run-ins with the paranormal while working there, but the strangest occurrence happened when he began hearing music playing after everyone had left.
He told the Friends of Music Hall : "I reentered the elevator and closed the doors. The music was still there and I'm starting to tingle now. I opened the rear of the elevator, entered the adjoining hall, no sound. Returning to the elevator to proceed to Corbett Tower and closed it up, the music was as beautiful as ever."
The Hollywood Pacific Theater
It goes without saying that Hollywood is one of the most haunted cities in America. Even the citizens who are still living tend to have a ghostly quality about them, so for something to be haunted in the City of Angels it needs to be pretty f*cking spooky.
The main manifestation that haunts the Pacific Theater is that of Sam Warner, one of the O.G. Warner Brothers who not only help construct the theater, but who also helped make Los Angeles the town it is today. Multiple guards who work at the Pacific have reported seeing Mr. Warner taking the elevator up to his office, and they say that during quiet hours of the night he can be heard shuffling his furniture around. That has to be super annoying for whoever works in that office now.
The Leaf Theater
Everyone knows that Florida is full of crazies high on goofballs (or maybe it's the other way around), but are its theaters haunted? At least one of them is. In Quincy, Florida, The Leaf Theater is reportedly haunted by several former movie operators: one named Charles Gibson, another described as "a gentleman wearing a hat", and their very own "lady ghost."
These claims have been backed up by the Big Bend Ghost Trackers who checked out the theater in 2006 at the behest of a local news anchor. Not only did BBGT sense general feelings of unease in the theater, but they were also able to make contact with the spirit of Charles who seemed to want to make contact with his son . Is anyone else imagining one of the ghost hunters as an alligator wearing sunglasses? No? Well, you should be. It really enhances the experience.
The Roseland Theater
This Portland, Oregon based theater was originally an Apostolic Faith Church that was constructed in 1922, and later turned into a night club called "Starry Night" in the '80s. In 1988, the club's owner murdered their publicity agent, Timothy Moreau , to keep him from dropping dime on a counterfeit ticket scam at the club after a John Lee Hooker concert.
Moreau's body was never found, but many employees at the venue and people who have been living in Portland for longer than IFC has been advertising the dream of the '90s say that his ghost haunts the venue in search of his decaying bones.
Built in 1890 (and then rebuilt after a fire 30 years later) this classic Memphis theater is supposed to be haunted by the ghost of a girl named Mary who was killed in a car accident in front of the theater. Not only have patrons heard Mary giggling and running up and down the aisles, but some of them have even seen her sitting in her favorite seat C-5 during a performance.
In 1977, the traveling cast of Fiddler on the Roof got so freaked out by the little ghost girl that they conducted a séanace to try and contact her. A few years later a parapsychology class visited the theater and deduced that there were at least six more ghosts running around the theater with Mary. So she's got some company, at any rate.
The Belasco Theater
With the amount of suffering that happens eight times a week on Broadway, it's astounding that every theater on the great white way isn't full of ghosts tearing up playbills and ruining performances of Hamilton willy-nilly. Thankfully, the Belasco Theater more than makes up for the area's lack of spooky sightings. After his death in 1931 the theater's owner, David Belasco, began to appear wearing a clerical collar and cassock, something that he liked to wear while he was still alive. Many actors have seen him skulking around the theater and have even attempted to talk to him with little luck.
The New Amsterdam Theater
The New Amsterdam theater in New York City is one of the oldest surviving Broadway theaters, and it even played host to the Ziegfield Follies from 1913 to 1927. It was during the Follies that Olive Thomas, an actress who won the " Most Beautiful Girl in New York City ” contest, received her big break and began to work in silent pictures. Things went sour for Thomas in 1920 when she and her husband went to Paris.
While they were in the City of Love, Thomas allegedly discovered that she had contracted syphilis from her husband and committed suicide. Shortly after her death, stage hands began to see Thomas passing through the theater wearing the same green dress that she wore during her big break in Ziegfeld's Follies .
The Lincoln Theater
When you think of haunted Illinois you probably don't think of Decatur, but it turns out that the Lincoln Theater plays host to ghostly footsteps, cold spots, and at least one full form apparition. One theory behind the apparition is that it belongs to an old stage hand named Red, a World War I veteran who laid down to take a nap at the theater and simply never woke up. Most people, however, believe it belongs to an actress that frequented the theater in its early days.
Mabel Tainter Center For The Arts
This lovely theater in Wisconsin plays host to a bevy of apparitions, but the main ghost seems to be that of Mabel herself, a young woman who passed away before she could see the final construction of the building. Multiple people have seen a young woman making her way through the halls, and a few women have even mentioned that they've seen something floating near the women's restroom.
Aside from the female ghost there seems to be an apparition that was either once a stage hand at the theater (or possibly someone that just loves to mess with stage hands), that tries to play with the sound equipment when no one is paying attention.
Mount Baker Theatre
Bellingham, Washington isn't just home to indie rock sad boys Death Cab For Cutie, it also houses Judy, Alice, and Geoffrey, three ghosts that live in the Mount Baker Theater. Both Alice and Geoffrey have supposedly introduced themselves to people who work at Mount Baker, and according to a tour guide at the theater Geoffrey is very concerned with personal property. "[Geoffrey] was dressed in a pinstripe suit and told an investigator to be sure to return a paperback book about the history of the theater that she had found on the shelf in the boss room." Thanks, Geoffrey.
The Bagdad Theater in Portland, Oregon is a beautiful art-deco bar and grill with screening rooms that was apparently so fun to work at that the old employees just don't want to leave. Multiple employees have stated that they feel like they're being watched while the work in the kitchen, and many of them believe that the perpetrators are ghosts of ex-employees who are being a little too judgey from beyond the spirit realm.
The Brown Grand Theatre
Concordia, Kansas' Brown Grand Theatre was constructed in 1907 and plays host to the ghost of the theater owner's son, Earl Brown. Many performers and members of the crew who've spent time in the theater have noted that Earl likes to hang out in the wings during opening season. Even to a ghost there's no business like show business.
