Lil Yachty Cancels His Podcast Despite Mitch Claiming That He And Yachty Are Cool

Wicked Featuring 21 Savage

Lil Yachty had an interesting Thursday, and that is probably putting it very mildly. Overall, it all started thanks to the backlash he received for the comments he made on his A Safe Place podcast. During the podcast, featuring Key Glock, Yachty denigrated his podcast co-host Mitch. Essentially, Yachty said his friend wouldn't be successful without him. Fans absolutely hated these comments and called out the rapper for being out of line in this instance.

This drama spilled over into the recent news that Karrahboo is no longer with Concrete Boys. After Karrahboo made an offhand remark about Yachty, the Lil Boat MC went off on Instagram Live. He exposed Karrahboo, claiming that he wrote every single one of her bars. Furthermore, Yachty noted that Karrahboo treated the people around her horrible, and that he had no choice but to kick her from the group. As for Mitch, Yachty claimed that he wasn't rocking with his friend and that the podcast was canceled.

Lil Yachty Crashes Out

This was all very surprising, especially when you consider how Mitch came out and clarified what went down. On Twitter, he said that he and Yachty were cool. However, he did make it clear that he was successful before Yachty. Either way, the podcast appears to be in disarray right now. Yachty's rant was impulsive, and only time will tell whether or not he truly burned any bridges with it.

Mitch Speaks

Maybe We Know a Little Too Much About Lil Yachty

By Andre Gee

Last year, I spoke with Lil Yachty about mystique. Our conversation about his Let’s Start Here album got awkward when he told me he didn’t want to reveal too much about its creation. I asked him about plans to release a documentary he recorded about the project, and he told me, “I doubt I’ll drop it. Just like me not wanting to do any of these interviews. I don’t really care to talk about it, [because] you give it all away [when] you pull the curtain back.”

When I asked him if he put a premium on artists with an allure of mystery when he was younger, he told me, “Coming up, you didn’t have all this social media. Even if [they] did an interview, you didn’t get every element of something. It’s the simple things you knew, but they left a lot of room for ‘Wow, how did he make this?’… Which is the beauty in art.”

“I think Chapter One of my career is extremely oversaturated,” he told me. “I was thinking … I’m easily accessible. I’m on TikTok. I’m on YouTube. I’m on Twitter. I’m just everywhere. I didn’t like that.” But 18 months after our conversation, it feels like Yachty’s would-be triumphant next chapter is being marred by the same overexposure.

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, 25 most influential creators of 2024.

Yachty’s rap career is defined by a collage of viral moments. His first single, 2015’s “One Night,” went viral on SoundCloud. He came into public consciousness during the 2016 live stream of Yeezy Season 3. His “Minnesota” hit was the score to the hip-hop generational war being waged on rap Twitter, with his ignorance of Biggie and 2Pac’s catalog not helping things. And his Everyday Struggle admission that he didn’t know the full details of his QC contract made him fodder for anyone seeking to soapbox about naive rappers signing bad deals. Yachty saw all of the criticism, and he pushed back, arguably losing the musical charm that made him a distinct artist by trying to prove he could rap. He told me, that during that period, “I was trying to be the spokesman for the new generation because no one else wanted to talk. I felt, ‘I’m going to stand up. I’m going to speak.’”

But it never stays strictly about the music with Yachty. During a Let’s Start Here listening event, he told the crowd he “wanted to be taken seriously as an artist and not just a SoundCloud rapper, not just a mumble rapper, not just a guy that made one hit.” Some people felt his comments implied that being “just” a rapper was inferior, but he told me that was “absolutely not” what he was trying to say. Regardless of his clarification, the perception of elitism stuck, and was intensified when he surmised that “hip-hop is in a terrible place” during our November 2023 Musicians on Musicians l ive event .

Will a Silver Wave Help Elect Kamala Harris?

Matthew perry, ketamine, and me, lara trump is still trying to make her music career happen, al jardine drops new song 'wish,' plots shows with resurrected brian wilson band.

During an emotionally charged Instagram Live session, he claimed that he wrote all of Karrahbooo’s music and threw the remaining Concrete Boys under the bus by claiming he dressed all of them. He and Karrahbooo have since been taking to their stories to clap back at each other, making a bad situation worse. Yachty’s currently being lambasted as the kind of person who can’t wait to tell the world what they did for you — you never wanna be that guy.

Perhaps people are letting the jokes fly for the moment, and Yachty dropping the right song will shift all the attention away from his mic miscues. Maybe Yachty doesn’t care what the public thinks. But it’s interesting to watch someone who’s repeatedly referenced not wanting to be accessible, and wishing he hadn’t opened his mouth, seemingly be unable to help himself from speaking out — in frequently self-sabotaging ways. It feels like the same digital soil that fertilized Yachty’s career is also his quicksand.

What you gonna tell a n—a to get a job?” The Atlanta rapper then brought up what Mitch would be doing with his life if Yachty wasn’t around and all Key Glock could do was sit there in silence.

Naturally, Rap Twitter had a field day with said clip and criticized Yachty for being a bad friend. Boat addressed the viral clip during his IG Live session and stated he started the podcast to help his friend and said he was going to end it because Mitch wouldn’t defend him on social media. “I aint want to do no motherf—king podcast, n—a, I’m a f—king rapper.”

Mitch then took to X to clear the air, suggesting him and Yachty joke around and are often brutally honest with each other.

As for Karrahbooo, a waitress at Red Lobster set fire to this whole night. X user @C_Staxxz claimed the former Concrete Boy member walked into the restaurant chain to buy some Cheddar Bay Biscuits said she was kicked out of the group after being asked why she left. The user also claimed Karrahbooo told her that “they were really mean to her and bullying her a lot.”

He then claimed that he wrote all of her verses and styled her and the other members of the Concrete Boys. “I wrote every f—king verse you’ve done,” he said. “I dressed you. I dressed all five of y’all n—as, bro. I dressed five n—as every time we stepped out the house. I put an outfit on everybody. I put eight carat earrings in everybody ear. I put three chains on all y’all neck.”

Adding, “We bought a Cartier watch. I gave you that chrome Rolex, bro. You was waiting tables… What are we talking about, n—a? I changed your motherf—king life and you are here lying, talking about some, ‘We bully you’… That sh—t got me f—ked up, bro. You got me f—ked up, bro. You disrespectful, bro. You talk to people crazy. You tell people that they are nothing. You tell people you’re going to spit on them. You tell people they poor and you talk to my f—king label crazy. You claim I was stealing money from you. Stealing money from you how? You ain’t made no money.”

He continued, “This the problem with you new artists. Y’all get poppin’ online and then you become more popular than your actual music. You $900,000 in the whole and I got every f—king receipt.” Boat then brought up her viral On the Radar freestyle and said he was trying to make her pop off and it worked. “I slowed the beat down, I put 808s specifically on your verse so when it got to your part and the beat dropped, everyone would be like, ‘This girl is the craziest one.’”

Karrahbooo has yet to respond.

Lil Yachty

Lil Yachty is setting sail on a new venture: podcasting. On Tuesday (June 13), he took to Instagram, seeking suggestions and questions for his inaugural episode.

“Filming my first podcast,” Yachty posted on his Story, recaptured by No Jumper. “Send me any questions you want me to answer/any advice you need. Haha, let’s go.”

The 25-year-old rapper’s previous foray into interviewing could be a promising sign for his podcast. In February, the Nuthin’ 2 Prove artist held a candid chat with music industry titan Drake for a promotion dubbed “ A Moody Conversation.” The chat saw Drizzy delve into rarely discussed topics, including his thoughts on a “graceful exit” from Hip Hop.

Notably, the Mableton-born musician’s leap into podcasting doesn’t signal a pause in his career. The rapper, who just dropped “Strike (Holster)” in April, continues to churn out records that his fans go crazy over. As if 2022’s “Poland” didn’t showcase his ability to make a comeback, many have already predicted “Strike” as another potential “song of the summer.”

Like many of his predecessors, the rapper could well use the podcast to expose his audience to a variety of the industry’s biggest stars. His conversational skills, coupled with an ability to connect with his peers on a personal level, hint at intriguing, unguarded discussions to come.

Yachty’s latest album, Let’s Start Here , released in January, has been lauded for its experimental bent, blending psychedelic rock and funk elements. The 14-track record featured collaborations with a slew of other talent, including Daniel Caesar, Teezo Touchdown, Justine Skye, Fousheé, and Diana Gordon. It also contains songs like “running out of time” and “drive ME crazy!” among others.

The rap scene has seen a burgeoning trend of artists expanding their reach into podcasting. Legends such as Joe Budden and N.O.R.E. have already leveraged their industry know-how to deliver successful podcasts. Moreover, Yung Miami and Danny Brown, still actively creating music, have also proven that juggling different creative pursuits is feasible.

Karrahbooo Responds to Lil Yachty Ghost-Writing Claims: ‘Who Ain't Write It?'

Late last week, Lil Yachty had what many would consider a meltdown on social media - and his former groupmate is responding to some of the heated allegations.

Yachty hopped on Instagram Live to address both a not-so-flattering clip from his podcast A Safe Place where he and his co-host Mitch got into an awkward conversation about work ethic, and a couple of since-deleted tweets from an X user who claimed to run into his former artist and assistant Karrahbooo at a Red Lobster where she allegedly told the fan she was "kicked out" of the Atlanta rapper's Concrete Boys collective.

Yachty accused Karrahbooo of lying and being manipulative. "Tell people how you verbally abuse people. Don't get on here to make it seem like n-as kicked you out… bullying you? Bro, go ‘head and tell people how you talk to people… You talk to people like they're small, like they're beneath you," he said on IG Live, adding, "This the problem with you new artists. Y'all get poppin' online and then you become more popular than your actual music. You $900,000 in the hole and I got every f-ing receipt."

Boat also claimed he wrote all of her verses and positioned her as the face of Concrete Boys. "I wrote every f-ing verse you've done," he proclaimed. Later saying, "I slowed the beat down, I put 808s specifically on your verse so when it got to your part and the beat dropped, everyone would be like, ‘This girl is the craziest one,'" in reference to her viral On the Radar freestyle.

Well, over the weekend, Karrahbooo addressed her former label boss.

She first responded to him via Instagram Stories, saying, "Put it on yo kid I ain't write these songs miles. Stop da cap and leave me out ur internet shenanigans." She continued, "Stop bullying me big dawg I never said anything you letting random fans get in yo head man up."

Then, during her set at Pepsi Dig In Day in Chicago, Karrahbooo again addressed Yachty's ghostwriting allegations. While performing her song "Running Late," she asked the crowd, "Who ain't write it?… Who ain't write it?" several times.

They both then took more jabs at each other on Instagram. "Don't throw rocks and hide your hand," wrote Yachty on his IG Story, to which Karrahbooo responded by saying, "I never threw rocks and u have my number u big grown bi- leave me alone literally @lilyachty." Adding, "I never said nothing about sh– and I still ain't said nothing about what's really going on I don't want no beef wit you industry people just move on wit ur life stop tryna bring me down when I stay out the way I'm done talking u got it yo character gone speak for itself."

Lil Yachty Goes Off After Being Accused of Mistreating Best Friend and Cohost Mitch During Podcast Episode

Lil Yachty  goes off after fans accuse him of disrespecting his best friend and podcast cohost Mitch during a recent episode.

Lil Yachty Faces Backlash After New Podcast Episode

On Thursday (Aug. 22), Boat became a trending topic on X, formerly known as Twitter, when a clip from a recent episode of his A Safe Place Podcast went viral. In the episode, which features Key Glock  and debuted on Wednesday (Aug. 21), the trio talks about how they would suggest someone with a street mentality to take the positive and legal route. However, when Mitch used himself as an example, saying he took up making beats, Yachty continuously challenged his friend's assertion.

"No, imagine if you didn't have a friend who was already extremely successful to help you get on your feet," Yachty said around the 17-minute mark of the podcast below. "A lot of people don't have that. So, what I'm saying is, what do you say? Because you didn't want to get a job. I never even suggested you get a job because I knew you wouldn't get a job."

He continued, "Remove me from this situation. I was never in your life. What the f**k would you have been doing? I feel like you might have been [robbing people]. Who knows what you would have been doing if you didn't have a ni**a to show you..."

Boat's comments didn't sit right with some fans who felt like he went over the top in disrespecting his homeboy.

"That’s why I don’t let nobody do nun for me because later on they will bring that ish up," one person wrote on X.

"Trying to belittle your homie in front of outsiders is lame as hell," someone else posted.

"Nah this crazy he supposed to be ya man's," another X user posted.

Lil yachty responds to backlash.

After the clip went viral, Yachty went on Instagram Live and sounded off about the response on Thursday night. The Quality Control rapper explained how he only started the podcast to help his friend Mitch out.

"I aint want to do no mothaf**kin podcast, ni**a, I'm a f**king rapper," Yachty snapped. "I got millions of dollars. I don't need to talk to other rappers. What the f**k are we talking about? I did the podcast for Mitch. Done put goddamn $400,000 in Mitch pocket...Y'all sitting hear talking some, 'He disrespected his friend.' I ain't f**king with Mitch."

Yachty said he talked to Mitch since the episode went viral and asked him why he didn't come out to tell people they were just playing. Yachty said Mitch's only exuse was to blame the internet.

"F**k you," Yachty continued. "F**k you and the podcast, how ’bout that. I don't give a f**k about a podcast."

Mitch Reacts to Lil Yachty

Following Boat's rant, Mitch went on X to clear the air.

"Alright let’s clear some things up," he tweeted below. "I ain’t nobody lil bro never been check my history i had stats before i met bro and got even more now, all i ever wanted to do was just focus on the music and being involved in the culture in a positive way i hope none of this hinders that."

He later clarified that he is not a freeloader and implied the podcast would go on. "Everybody that know me know i put in work nobody can take that from me and he wasn’t trying to take that from me we just debating on camera it got taken out of context," Mitch typed. "Im the next podcast will be epic ion even think we need a guest this time lol.. see ya around (insert think piece below)."

Lil Yachty and Karrahbooo’s Feud Escalates With Bullying Accusations

Rolling Out

Lil Yachty calls out Karrahboo and Mitch during explosive Instagram Live

  • By Nevaeh Brown
  • Aug 23, 2024

Lil Yachty

In a recent Instagram Live session, Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty unleashed a torrent of accusations against his former collaborator Karrahboo and his podcast cohost Mitch. The unexpected outburst has sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community, particularly among fans of Yachty’s A Safe Place podcast.

Karrahboo’s departure from Concrete Boys

Yachty began by addressing the rumors surrounding Karrahboo’s exit from the rap collective Concrete Boys. He accused her of verbally abusing others and criticized her for making a scene about her departure. “Don’t get on here and make a scene ‘bout n—-s kicked you out,” he stated, highlighting the sudden nature of her exit.

Claims of support and betrayal

During the live stream, Yachty claimed he was instrumental in Karrahboo’s rise, stating, “I wrote every f—ing verse you’ve done.” He detailed how he provided her with financial support and jewelry and even styled her. Yachty expressed frustration over her alleged disrespectful behavior toward others, saying, “You talk to people crazy. You tell people that they are nothing.”

Concerning financial accusations

One of the most alarming claims made by Yachty was that Karrahboo is in debt to him for $900,000. “I got every receipt. $900,000 Concrete in the hole,” he asserted, raising eyebrows about the financial dynamics within their collective.

Addressing Mitch and podcast dynamics

Yachty didn’t stop with Karrahboo; he also directed his ire toward Mitch, claiming that the podcast was started at Mitch’s insistence. The tension between the two was palpable, especially during a recent episode featuring rapper Key Glock, where Yachty admonished Mitch for lacking direction in his life.

This explosive Instagram Live has not only revealed the internal conflicts within Yachty’s circle but also raised questions about loyalty, respect and financial accountability in the music industry. As fans continue to react to these revelations, it remains to be seen how this drama will unfold and impact the careers of those involved.

Lil Yachty’s  Let’s Start Here. Is a Surface-Level Rebrand

Lil Yachty

Our  weekly podcast includes in-depth analysis of the new albums we find extraordinary, exciting, and just plain terrible. This week, Reviews Director  Jeremy D. Larson hosts Staff Writer  Alphonse Pierre and Contributing Editor  Dylan Green to talk about  Lil Yachty ’s unlikely trajectory from SoundCloud rap ambassador to trippy funk explorer, and why his new album  Let’s Start Here. doesn’t totally hit the mark.

Listen to this week’s episode below, and follow  The Pitchfork Review   here . You can also check out an excerpt of the podcast’s transcript below.

Jeremy D. Larson:  On the new album’s first song, “ the BLACK seminole. ,” there’s one lyric that stood out to me: “This part I’ve seen in my dreams/Love is not a lie/It just feels like a Tarantino movie scene.”

Dylan Green:  Oh, my God. What does that mean?

Larson: Is he talking about  Inglourious Basterds ? [ laughter ]  Grindhouse ? It speaks to the almost-specific nature of this album, like we’re  almost getting a clear image of exactly what he’s talking about, but he stops just short of creating this world that feels like you can fully inhabit it.

Green:  But really, what movie is he talking about?! I don’t want to be like Travolta and Uma Thurman in  Pulp Fiction .

Larson:  Tough love between those two.

Green:  I don’t want my life to end like the couple did at the end of  Inglourious Basterds , where she burns the movie theater to the ground. Like, what do you want, Yachty? [ laughter ]

Larson:  What do you think his favorite Tarantino movie is?

Alphonse Pierre:  Probably  Pulp Fiction ?

Larson:   Jackie Brown ? Underrated.

Pierre:  That’s the movie he  should have watched before this, because I feel like he would have gotten some different influences from that Blaxploitation era that Tarantino was pulling from.

Green:  Oh, shit!

Larson:  Man, that would’ve been great. Some more Isaac Hayes, some more  Shaft .

Pierre:  That’s the sound they needed, a little bit more funk.

Who is Bobbi Althoff? The TikToker who seemingly went from obscurity to having to shut down rumors she hooked up with rapper Drake

  • Bobbi Althoff has taken over TikTok — and social media at-large — with her alluringly awkward podcast clips.
  • She has only produced a handful of episodes, but they include big names like Drake and Lil Yachty.
  • Before making her comedic podcast, "The Really Good Podcast," she found fame as a mom influencer.

Insider Today

25-year-old Bobbi Althoff is quickly becoming one of the biggest and most polarizing podcasters of the year.

Althoff first became known as a mom influencer on TikTok (or a MomToker) before privatizing her account and reemerging with comedic content. Clips from her podcast "The Really Good Podcast" have amassed tens of millions of views on the app. Since launching the podcast in 2021, she's managed to score A-list interviews with Drake and Lil Yachty, among others, in a shockingly short amount of time.

The quick rise in success has also led some to accuse the influencer and host of being an industry plant .

Along with her star-studded guests, Althoff herself has become famous (or infamous, rather) for a deliberately deadpan persona. Her interviews aren't in the traditional Q&A format; they're dry and intentionally awkward, like episodes of Nathan Fielder's surreal comedy "Nathan For You." The influencer talks slowly and quietly, almost as if performing ASMR, and often instigates or leaves deliberate pauses to create discomfort. The humor of her videos is less about punch lines and more about seeing the baffled and unexpected reactions from the celebrities she interviews. Her podcast clips are often in video format, so the facial expressions of her and her guests play a crucial role.

As people are feverishly asking and googling who Bobbi Althoff is , here is what you need to know about the woman who some people feel "popped up out of thin air."

Althoff first found some success as a MomTok influencer.

Althoff first found internet fame as a mom influencer, according to TODAY . Her original account, @bobbialthon, has over 1.2 million followers but has been set to private. In the comments of a video published to her new channel, @bobbialthoff , in early 2022, she said she was turning the first account into a spam account and will be focusing full-time on comedy.

In videos that are still available to view from her old channel because of other people stitching them, she appeared to once offer sarcastic parenting advice: In one clip, she said she doesn't believe in allowing babies to crawl ; in another, she proudly said she named her daughter "Richard."

Her new channel, which has almost 5 million followers, also features videos about being a mom, with many of them documenting her pregnancy in 2021 and 2022. Similar to how she jokingly called her daughter "Richard," she said she named her second child "Concrete."

Althoff stopped posting personal life content on TikTok around April of this year, which is also when she began uploading her podcast clips.

Althoff launched her podcast in early 2023.

"The Really Good Podcast" has only had a handful of guests to date.

In an ironic twist of fate, her first guest was YouTuber Colleen Ballinger, who has faced serious  backlash this year after multiple former fans accused her of having an inappropriate relationship with them when they were underage. While Ballinger's fanbase continues to dwindle, Althoff's has grown immensely.

In one clip of the episode uploaded to her Instagram in April, Althoff and Ballinger jokingly argued about whether Althoff invited her on the podcast or if she requested to be on it. The description of the post says that the full podcast is available on Althoff's YouTube channel, but the episode appears to have since been taken down.

Her next guest was Rick Glassman, a comedian and actor known for his role in the NBC sitcom "Undateable." She's posted excerpts from the podcast to her TikTok and Instagram with deliberately combative captions like, "This d-list actor tried to get me canceled on my own podcast… "

Viewers said they actually enjoyed how stressful it is to watch her interviews, with some saying they like the idea of a host and guest fighting to make each other uncomfortable.

Althoff began to gain traction with other influencer comedians. Then Drake's appearance shocked everyone.

lil yachty podcast instagram

After Glassman, Althoff interviewed the comedian Deric Cahill and the TikToker Morgan Presley , but the podcasts appear to have been taken down except for a few stray clips.

Althoff and her podcast started going viral after featuring clips with Funny Marco, an internet-famous comedian with millions of followers on TikTok and Instagram. She uploaded nine excerpts from her video podcast with Funny Marco, which have been viewed a cumulative 70 million times. Her biggest Marco clip featured him ambiguously asking her if she "was easy," and she intentionally misinterpreted the question (as in easy to get along with).

@bobbialthoff I will be posting the rest of my interview with Drake to YouTube soon… ♬ original sound - Bobbi

She then skyrocketed in searches and popularity after releasing a long interview with Drake earlier this month. In the clips that have individually gone viral, she and the rapper are sitting under blankets in a bed, but she appears stern and indifferent towards him the entire time. In the most viewed clip of the episode, the two jokingly spar after Althoff calls Drake out for referencing his own song at one point.

Althoff's next guest will be Lil Yachty.

lil yachty podcast instagram

This week, Althoff posted a video teasing that rapper Lil Yachty would be her next guest. The teaser clip, which already has over 7 million views, features the two squabbling after Yachty imagines a future scenario where he meets her at a Pizza Hut.

"I would love to see you at a Pizza Hut takeout one day in like five years, as you're getting in your fucking Bentley, with your Chanel shades on," the rapper joked.

The podcast episode is set to premiere on Thursday.

Comments under Althoff's videos have begun to fill up with fans requesting interviews with other stars, like Tyler, the Creator, Post Malone, and Kevin Gates. Replying to a comment requesting she interview the comedian Theo Von, Althoff said, "Soon."

Amid her success, Althoff has been accused of being an "industry plant."

lil yachty podcast instagram

Althoff's sudden rise to ubiquity on social media has startled some internet users, who are now accusing her of being an industry plant, a term for people who quickly rise to fame because it's suspected they have the secret backing of industry professionals.

People are demanding to know how she quickly locked collaborations with massive celebrities like Drake and Yachty on her show. And how a white woman grew a platform to interview Black celebrities: "Does her father own Drake's masters? I'm trying to figure out how this industry plant is interviewing Drake when respected Black journalists can't even get a nod from him," one person tweeted .

Others have accused her of stealing Funny Marco's style of comedy since he has a similarly surrealist and deadpan approach.

Insider has reached out to Althoff for comment.

While she has not addressed these criticisms or allegations publicly, before her recent surge in virality, she had a sizable fanbase on TikTok for years.

After the Drake video mysteriously disappeared from Althoff's YouTube channel, rumors sparked about their friendship.

@bobbialthoff Really in my element here @ this guys concert ♬ original sound - Bobbi

On August 13, Althoff posted a video to her TikTok account which showed her standing, arms crossed, looking unimpressed at a concert while Drake could be heard performing in the background.

"Really in my element here @ this guys concert," the caption of the video read, which received over 25.7 million views.

As of a day later, the interview featuring Drake had been removed from both YouTube and Spotify, and clips featuring the same interview were deleted from Althoff's TikTok account, and fans noticed the two had also unfollowed each other on Instagram, prompting speculation they'd had a rift, Insider previously reported .

Althoff shut down rumors that she 'hooked up' with Drake, according to Instagram DMs she leaked to set the record straight.

Althoff appeared on Dave Portnoy's podcast "BFFS" on August 11 where she discussed the Drake interview.

It appears a short video was uploaded to tease the episode, which was edited to make it look as though Portnoy was about to reveal Althoff told him there had been a sexual relationship between her and Drake.

In Response, Althoff publicly revealed screenshots of what appeared to be Instagram DMs between her and Portnoy in which he had written, "My girlfriend says you hooked up with Drake and got divorced. I am saying that is not true."

Althoff responded, "I am not commenting publicly but off the record, you're right that is not true."

In a video posted to TikTok on August 17, which received 2.6 million views, Portnoy apologized for a section of his podcast where he had spoken about the private messages and wrote the clip had been edited by his social media team "to make it seem juicy which is bullshit."

How Lil Yachty Became Michigan Boy Boat

Before the release of ‘Michigan Boy Boat,’ Lil Yachty sits for an interview about how his collabs with Michigan artists energized him to grow as a rapper.

Lil Yachty has been spending a lot of time in Michigan lately.

Midway through one low-budget music video for a song called “Flintana,” he shows up in a parking lot with a crew of up-and-coming rappers from Flint: RMC Mike, YN Jay, and Louie Ray. At the beginning of the clip, there’s a disclaimer that says, “This song was made the night before, therefore nobody knew the lyrics,” and everything about it has the raw, spontaneous feeling of a collaboration that came to life on a whim at 2 a.m. In other words, it’s in a completely different universe from the glossy sheen of a song like “Oprah’s Bank Account.”

As Yachty lowers himself on the concrete and does push-ups at the end of Mike’s verse, you can’t help but wonder how the hell he ended up in a random Flint parking lot with a bunch of underground rappers in the first place. But he does such a good job matching the spirit of the song, context doesn’t really matter here. It’s all energy. After a few quick bars about pussy and a mouth full of gold, Yachty circles back with a couple Snoh Aalegra and Kevin Federline references to punctuate his second verse. And when he’s not rapping, he laughs along with punchlines from Mike, Jay, and Ray, hyping up his collaborators. “They have fun,” he says now. “They talk about all kinds of crazy shit.”

Later, there’s a Lil Yachty sighting at a Detroit studio with Rio Da Yung OG , and he materializes on two more songs with YN Jay. As the year progresses, Yachty’s Michigan collaborations keep popping up online, and each time he tries out self-described “unorthodox” flows, pushing himself to wild new lyrical territory. On all of them, he sounds more energized than we’ve heard him in years. Before long, it’s clear Yachty has become an honorary member of the Michigan rap scene, home to some of the most exciting ( and quotable ) new artists on the planet.

“They’re mad fucking lyrical in a weird way,” he points out. “The schemes and the cadences and the flows are so unorthodox.”

Yachty says these collaborations have taught him “how to have fun with it” again. He’s having so much fun, in fact, that he decided to make a whole mixtape and call it Michigan Boy Boat . The project will arrive on April 23, and judging by the tags on the announcement Instagram post , it will feature everyone from Veeze to Babyface Ray to Sada Baby to Icewear Vezzo. As Yachty puts it, the project is an opportunity to show love to the scene he’s grown to care about so much.

As the release date nears, the 23-year-old rapper hopped on the phone with Complex to talk about Michigan Boy Boat, three other projects he’s working on, a night in the studio with Freddie Gibbs, and more. The interview, lightly edited for clarity, is below.

Lil Yachty

How did you first get plugged in with the Michigan rap scene? I’ve always loved Detroit rap. I used to work with Pablo Skywalkin back in 2016. And I always loved Tee Grizzley. “First Day Out” was such an insane song, and I thought he was so lyrical. So I was working with him, and then my best friend Mitch started putting me on to other rappers locally who were on the rise, and I just loved their beats and their rapping schemes. I thought they were so dope. So that’s how I got into it originally.

A lot of people were surprised to see you show up in so many music videos with underground rappers in Flint and Detroit last year. How did the collaborations start happening? I was reaching out to them, bro. I was just coming to them. I wasn’t afraid to show love, and I wanted to work with all of them. So I would just hit them up.

What is it about their music that made you want to work with them? They don’t care. They want to have fun. And it’s funny . They’re mad fucking lyrical in a weird way. The schemes and the cadences and the flows are so unorthodox. And the style of Michigan beats just forced me into this really weird scheme. You’ll see when this mixtape comes out. I just rap really unorthodox on it. A lot of people won’t like it. A lot of people think it’s offbeat.

.rsme-embed .rsme-d-none { display: none; } .rsme-embed .twitter-tweet { margin: 0 !important; } .rsme-embed blockquote { margin: 0 !important; padding: 0 !important; } .rsme-embed.rsme-facebook-embed .fb-post iframe { width: 100% !important; } .rsme-embed.rsme-facebook-embed .fb-post span { width: 100% !important; } .rsme-spinner { border: 3px solid rgba(0,0,0,0.75); border-right-color: transparent; border-radius: 50%; animation: rsme-spin 1s linear infinite; } @keyframes rsme-spin { 0% { transform: rotate(0deg); } 100% { transform: rotate(360deg); } } View post on Instagram

Do you think these beats have pushed you to grow as a rapper? Yeah, I learned new schemes and cadences. And I learned to have fun with it. They have fun. They talk about all kinds of crazy shit.

Michigan Boy Boat is on the way. What made you want to do a full tape with songs like this? I just wanted to show love. That’s it. I just wanted to show love to all of those guys and their talent. And I feel like I rap my best on those types of beats.

You sound really energized lately. I remember a few months ago, you jumped in Cardo’s room on Clubhouse and told everyone how excited you were about a verse you had just written. Yeah. That verse was so fucking crazy. I was sitting on the toilet.

Overall, it seems like you’re having a lot of fun making music right now. Oh, yeah. And I’m about to drop so much shit, it doesn’t make any sense. I’m definitely having fun.

A couple months ago, you dropped “Hit Bout It” with Kodak Black, which was a crazy moment. What was that experience like? We didn’t record it in person, but I did take a trip out there to shoot the video. When I recorded the song, I was on my Detroit shit. What happened was, I posted a snippet on my Instagram. And he was originally supposed to do a verse for “Pardon Me.” You know, because he was just pardoned by Donald Trump. Then he was like, “Man, I ain’t going to lie. I really want to get on this.” I was super excited, and we made it happen.

In the behind-the-scenes video, it looked like you guys have a tight bond together. What’s your relationship like, and how did that all go down? I don’t know how or why. It just kinda happened. I hit him when he was in jail, and I wanted to show support and that I was fucking with him. And he would call me every now and then. We’d chop it up and just talk. I think he really supported that and respected that. And when he got out, it was just love.

Speaking of collaborations, you were just tweeting about Freddie Gibbs assembling the Avengers for his next album. Yeah, I was with him last night. I put him on some Detroit shit. [Laughs.]

How did you guys link up? After I tweeted that, he DM’d me, like, “Let’s link.” And I was out here and I pulled right the fuck up.

What was that session like? I was super excited. He’s really fire. He’s like a legend. He was super cool. He’s like a gangster. He was super dope, and he’s older. The session was really chill. I didn’t stay long, unfortunately, because I had to go to a session with Mac DeMarco, so I did the song and left. But it was dope as fuck. He’s funny as shit.

You recently tweeted , “I be sittin back watching y’all assumptions on situations and y’all be so off. The internet just be making up shit.” Do you think people have misconceptions about you at this point? What do people get wrong? Yeah, [some people] think I’m gay as fuck. But I have a beautiful girlfriend. And before her, I had plenty of bitches. You know? So that’s a misconception. But I don’t give a fuck.

You’ve been writing songs for other artists a little lately, like “Act Up” for City Girls, which I think opened some people’s minds to how talented you really are. Is that part of the appeal? I love gaining my respect.

As a songwriter for other artists, you have to put yourself in someone else’s point of view, and you’ve pulled it off really well so far. Why do you think it’s come naturally for you? Honestly, I was just bored, bro. One day I was in the studio, bored as fuck. And I was like, “Let me see if I can do this.” I did it.

Is that something you want to do more? I’ve done it a few times. I’ve done it. I stopped speaking on it.

I see. I was going to ask if you’d explore that more and ever write songs for pop artists or anything. Yeah, I’ve done some shit. I don’t want to get into it, but I’ve done some shit.

“Just listen to the f*cking bars because I promise I’m rapping my f*cking a** off.”

I know you’ve been in the studio with Taz Taylor and the Internet Money guys. Can you talk about that? We’re doing an album. I’m about to go see Taz right now. He’s a fucking king. He’s a fucking GOAT. I have respect for him, 100%.

What have the sessions been like so far? I’ve been in LA three days, and we’ve already made 24 songs. We’re working hard, bro. It’s fun. It’s melodic. It’s fully melodic.

Oh, shit. So a totally different sound from this next Michigan Boy Boat project… Yeah, I got projects, man. I’ve got my project with Internet Money. I’m doing my project with Lil Tecca. I got my project with Working On Dying. And then I’ll start my album fourth quarter of the year.

So there’s lots of shit going on. I’m dropping a shit ton this year.

Lil Yachty

What made you want to make a bunch of different projects that show all your different styles, instead of just holding off and doing one big album? It didn’t start off that way. It honestly started off with me just fucking with all these guys that I fuck with. And they all love me for different things. Taz, he wanted to bring out my melodic side. You know, with Working On Dying, it’s just all types of heat.

Before you go, I wanted to ask about cryptocurrency. You created your YachtyCoin and then made an NFT. And I know you were an early investor in Dogecoin and SafeMoon and all this shit. How did you get into all of this? Well, my manager put me onto the whole YachtyCoin thing. This year and last year, I just took it and ran with it.

There are stories of people who invested early making ridiculous amounts of money. I know you were early, too. Have you seen crazy profits already? Oh, yeah. Ohhhh yeah . Mm-hmm.

What should people know before they press play on Michigan Boy Boat when it drops? Just listen to the fucking bars because I promise I’m rapping my fucking ass off.

Lil Yachty Unleashes Explosive Instagram Live, Slams Podcast Co-Host Mitch and Ex-Concrete Boys Signee Karrahboo

Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty sent shockwaves across social media with an unexpected and intense Instagram Live session that aired grievances against his “A Safe Place” podcast co-host Mitch and former Concrete Boys signee Karrahboo. The live session quickly went viral as Yachty accused both of disrespect, betrayal, and financial misconduct.

The livestream began with Yachty addressing the rumors surrounding Karrahboo’s sudden exit from his rap collective, Concrete Boys. Fans had speculated for weeks about the circumstances of her departure, and Yachty wasted no time in setting the record straight. He accused Karrahboo of being verbally abusive and ungrateful, going so far as to say she had been mistreating others within the collective.

“Don’t get on here and make a scene ‘bout n****s kicked you out,” Yachty said, clearly frustrated as he recounted the issues that led to her removal. He went on to claim that Karrahboo’s success was largely due to his efforts, alleging that he wrote all her lyrics, styled her, and provided financial support.

“I wrote every fucking verse you’ve done,” Yachty declared. “I dressed you. I dressed all five of y’all n s, bro. I dressed five n s every time we stepped out of the house. I put an outfit on everybody. I put eight carats of earrings on everybody’s ear. I put three chains on all y’all neck.”

In a series of startling claims, Yachty detailed the lengths he allegedly went to in order to support Karrahboo’s career, mentioning that he gifted her with expensive watches, including a Cartier and a chrome Rolex, and provided money while she was struggling financially.

“You was waiting tables… What are we talking about, n***a? I changed your motherfucking life and you out here lying, talking about some: ‘we bully you’. That shit got me fucked up, bro. You got me fucked up, bro. You disrespectful, bro.”

According to Yachty, Karrahboo’s behavior behind the scenes was toxic, with the rapper accusing her of talking down to others, making degrading comments, and causing chaos within the label. He also claimed that Karrahboo is currently in debt to him, to the tune of $900,000. “I got every receipt. $900,000 Concrete in the hole,” Yachty said, implying that the rapper was owed significant sums of money as a result of investments he made into her career.

Adding to his frustrations, Yachty played what he said was a reference track he recorded for Karrahboo, showcasing how he tailored beats specifically to highlight her verses, further emphasizing the support he claims to have provided her. “I slowed the beat down, I put 808s specifically on your verse so when it got to your part and the beat dropped, everyone would be like, ‘this girl is the craziest one,’” he explained.

However, Karrahboo wasn’t the only target of Yachty’s fury. The rapper also turned his attention to Mitch, his co-host on the popular “A Safe Place” podcast. Yachty revealed that the podcast was launched at Mitch’s insistence, but their partnership has become strained, particularly after clips from a recent episode featuring Key Glock began circulating. In the clips , Yachty was seen challenging Mitch’s lack of direction in life, with an unamused Glock looking on as tensions rose.

The conversation reportedly touched a nerve for Mitch, who tried to defend himself by stating, “Even if I was doing shit back then, I’m older now,” after Yachty brought up an alleged past incident where Mitch wanted to acquire an expensive watch by brandishing a gun. Yachty pressed further, questioning Mitch’s sense of purpose and contribution to the partnership.

”[If] I was never in your life, what would you have been doing?” Yachty asked pointedly, leaving viewers in stunned silence.

The Instagram Live stream quickly went viral, with fans and industry insiders alike weighing in on the drama. Some expressed sympathy for Yachty, noting the apparent stress he’s been under as both a rapper and a leader trying to manage the various personalities in his orbit. Others questioned the appropriateness of airing such intense grievances in a public forum, especially given the harsh language and personal nature of the accusations.

Neither Karrahboo nor Mitch has publicly responded to Yachty’s claims as of yet. However, fans are eagerly anticipating what the fallout from this explosive confrontation will mean for Yachty’s collective, podcast, and future collaborations. The entire situation underscores the complexity and pressure that comes with navigating both business and personal relationships in the music industry.

As the dust settles, it remains to be seen how Yachty’s brand and his relationships will be affected by this very public airing of dirty laundry. For now, it’s clear that the “A Safe Place” podcast is anything but safe—at least for those involved.
