If you have chosen the Payment Plan option, the following minimum cancellation charges, represented as a percentage of the total booking cost, shall apply:

1 - Within the first 24 hours - 0% cancellation fee (Full Refund)

2 - Between 24 hours after booking and up to 30 days from the booking date or 90 days before the event (whichever comes first) - 10% cancellation fee

3 - Cancellation from 31 days to 90 days before the event (whichever comes first) - 40% cancellation fee

4 - Within 90 days or less before the event - 100% cancellation fee

Please note that as per our booking terms and conditions signed by you when making the booking, you will also be liable to pay any cancellation charges imposed by suppliers or any other costs incurred by Yacht Week. Yacht Week may use money that you have previously paid to cover cancellation charges or to pay charges imposed by a supplier without a refund to you. If you could sail, swim, and celebrate on repeat each day for a week until you’re happily exhausted, you’d do it, wouldn’t you? Well, boating has just the event for that: Yacht Week. Haven’t heard of it? Here’s a Yacht Week Beginner’s Guide :

First, what is Yacht Week? 

If you’ve never heard of The Yacht Week , it’s called the original floating festival. You stay aboard a skippered boat with a bunch of your friends, cruising alongside other like-minded travelers. 

A skippered boat is a boat with someone who is in command of it, more or less equal to a captain! This gives your crew opportunities to focus on the fun and potentially learn boating from an experienced guide. 

Options exist for per- cabin bookings, too. Regardless, for seven days, you explore convoy-style, visiting picture-perfect destinations like Croatia, Turkey, Tahiti, and the British Virgin Islands. While you have the freedom to follow your own itinerary, you get your skipper’s first-hand knowledge of where to go and what to do. 

You can dine onboard or ashore , soak up the sun on secluded beaches, and of course, swim. Come at nighttime, and join your fellow adventurers at organized parties on the beach and in clubs. Or, simply star gaze on deck before drifting off to sleep.

Yacht Week’s brief history

The Yacht Week got its start nearly two decades ago. Directors and founders Eric Biorklund and William Wenckel worked for the same company as charter-boat captains in Europe when inspiration struck. A two-week period in Greece was so much fun that they became fast friends with their guests. Figuring they could replicate the success, they reserved 10 yachts for traveling together for a subsequent summer in anticipation of attracting 100 guests. It worked. They then added another five yachts to that total, which also filled up. Guests had so much fun, in fact, that they requested Biorklund and Wenckel arrange more trips. Soon the duo had more cruisers than staterooms available. So, they turned it into a dedicated business, and The Yacht Week was born.

With another business partner onboard, Biorklund and Wenckel set their sights on growing The Yacht Week internationally. That, too, worked. The company went from booking 30 boats in 2006 to more than 1,300 within a decade.

The Yacht Week is more than just skippered boats; the goal is to provide you with experiences you’ve never had before! For example, if you’re into techno, house music, and similar styles, the Croatia Ultra Route dates in July coincide with the Ultra Europe EDM festival. Pro Tip: Your yacht package includes VIP tickets. 

While music is a big part of The Yacht Week—and cruising in general—other itineraries are more about the destinations and camaraderie. 

From May through September, for instance, trips depart from Athens, Greece, and head to a number of islands. To ensure you get to know your fellow cruisers, a raft-up (anchoring your boat side by side) kicks off the first day. 

Each day for the rest of the week, you can explore ancient sites and towns with guides on foot or drive an ATV through the countryside. Fun costume parties, White Parties (where you wear all white), and more occur each day, too. 

To cap off the summer in style, book one of two available weeks (at presstime) in Turkey in September. You’ll enjoy the country’s famed Turquoise Coast, along its southwestern shore, starting out in Fethiye. When you go sightseeing, don’t miss the chance to partake in a Turkish bath. You’ll emerge with your skin feeling invigorated and an amazing story to share.

Pro Tip: Speaking of sharing, you’ll be sharing picture after picture on social media with your friends and family back home. The Yacht Week also has professional photographers and videographers on hand during each itinerary to ensure the best moments get captured.

8 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU GO ON THE YACHT WEEK

Have you heard of The Yacht Week ? If not then let me introduce you to what could be the best week of your life. Back in 2014 I spent a week sailing around Greece on an all girls Yacht Week boat. We had an incredible time but there were some things I wish I would have known before the trip that could have made it even better. So here are eight things you should know before you go on The Yacht Week!

1) THE YACHT WEEK COULD BE THE BEST WEEK OF YOUR LIFE – JUST GO!

As you can see from the video above The Yacht Week looks like a lot of fun, and it is! This video is of The Yacht Week Greece trip I was on featuring some clips of our boat. I booked with one of my friends and prior to the tip I hadn’t met any of the other girls who were going to be on our sailboat. All the girls turned out to be awesome and we all made fast friends.

If you can’t get a group of friends together to book your own sailboat don’t let that stop you from going on The Yacht Week. Just find one friend to go with you and book a two-person cabin! You’ll make new friends, and have the time of your life, especially after reading all my tips so you’ll know what to expect.

2) THE YACHT WEEK IS MORE ABOUT PARTYING THAN SAILING

The Yacht Week is basically one big floating festival! If you want to have a serious week of peaceful sailing then The Yacht Week is probably not for you. You will sail from location to location but you’ll spend a lot more time partying than sailing on most of The Yacht Week routes. You need to be in the right frame of mind for this prior to the trip. So if you plan on going on The Yacht Week put your party hat on and be ready to have some fun!

3) CHOOSE YOUR YACHT WEEK ROUTE BASED ON PACE

You’ll likely look at The Yacht Week website and see a destination you want to go to and decide this is the route you want to take. I advise against this. In order to have the best time possible book a route based on the pace you want to go at.

Since I went on The Yacht Week they have added several new routes including an Italy route which they are marketing as slower paced for “sophisticated sailors and the food fanatics.” I have only been on the Greece route so I can’t vouch for this claim but if you want to do less partying, and more sailing and exploring, booking the Italy route seems like the way to go.

The Greece route I went on is labeled at a mid paced route. I love music and parties but I personally would have preferred more sailing and sight-seeing. Based on my experience, I would describe the mid paced Yacht Week routes (Greece, Montenegro and BVIs) as party routes and the fast paced routes (Croatia and Croatia Ultra) as ultra party routes.

4) SKIP SOME OF THE DAY PARTIES & EXPLORE

As I said above The Yacht Week, overall, is more about partying than anything else but you are visiting amazing places on all of their routes so I suggest skipping some of the parties and exploring your surroundings. On the Greece route there was a day party and a night party at each stop. When we docked at Hydra Island , my friend and I skipped the day party and explored the island which turned out to be one of my favorite days on the trip! There are plenty of parties so don’t worry about skipping some of them and opting to take in some sights and local culture instead.

5) SPLURGE ON A PREMIUM SAILBOAT

This is a gross topic but I have to bring it up because I would never want anyone to be in the same situation the girls on my boat were on. Our Yacht Week boat was a cheaper, economy sailboat and it was not equipped for us to be able to do anything besides pee in the toilets. That’s right, we did not have proper use of toilets on our boat for an entire week! Because of this my friend and I ended up renting several hotel rooms during Yacht Week (read Nikki Beach Porto Heli and Hotel Miranda Hydra Island ) just so we could have use of a toilet and shower.

So what is the moral of this story? Don’t go for the cheapest boat you can find. There are now four types of yachts you can book with The Yacht Week – Economy, Standard, Premium and Premium Plus. Spend the extra money to book a premium sailboat, and check that you’ll have unrestricted use of the toilet onboard before you book.

6) THE YACHT WEEK IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN YOU THINK

I budgeted around $75 a day for food, drinks and extras for our seven-day trip and quickly realized this was not going to be enough. Upon arrival we were told we needed to go shopping for costumes for the sailing competition and parties. Next, we had to put money in for the “Kitty Fund,” which is food and drinks for the boat for the week. We also had to pitch in money to tip our skipper and pay for gas for the boat.

At The Yacht Week parties you usually get one or two free drinks with your wristband, but after, that you have to pay for your drinks. Drinking every day can get expensive, especially if you want to splurge on bottle service. If you plan to drink and eat out and don’t want to worry about running out of money, you should plan to spend around $130 USD/day.

7) YOUR SAILBOAT WILL GET DIRTY REALLY QUICKLY

We had an all-girls crew and our sailboat still got very dirty every day. In order to keep your boat from becoming filthy get everyone on your boat to agree from the start to all help clean. If everyone pitches in, it takes less than 20 minutes a day to keep your boat clean. Do your dishes right after you are done eating, and keep all your personal stuff in your own cabin. No one wants to spend a week in a tiny cramped, dirty space. This is the real Yacht Week v. your Instagram Yacht Week…

8) CHOOSE WHO YOU BOOK WITH WISELY

The last thing you want to do is go on what could be the week of your life with someone who can’t go with the flow, relax and enjoy an adventure. If you’re booking a two-person cabin with a friend make sure you are on the same page about what type of trip you both want to have.

If you can’t wait to get to The Yacht Week and party all week and your friend is looking for a peaceful, relaxing week of sailing and sightseeing it is not going to work. If your friend wants to do a luxury sailing trip but you want to book an economy sailboat to save money it is not going to work. This seems pretty obvious but I saw both of these scenarios happen and it is a buzz kill for everyone. Make sure you are on the same page with whoever you book The Yacht Week with, wether you are booking a two-person cabin or an entire sailboat.

Im about to book the Greece trip with a friend but now I am really concerned about the bathroom situation… can you maybe tell me a little bit more about that?

The boats have marine toilets; you can use them for #1 and #2, you just can’t flush anything else down them. So that means you have a baggie for toilet paper you throw out once or twice a day. It’s not ideal, but it’s not as bad as you might think, and you get used to it pretty quick. Plus, you’re on land a lot and can use regular toilets pretty much any time you’re not sailing.

These are the biggest and most expensive boats at 2024's Palm Beach yacht show

• The Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off later this week.
• Eight megayachts are expected to be on display for would-be buyers and charter customers.

The Palm Beach International Boat Show — the yacht world's flashiest event stateside — is returning this year with over 800 boats for both deep-pocked potential owners and window shoppers to peruse.

While it's impossible to know what exactly will be on display until the show begins on Thursday, it's expected that eight megayachts — generally defined as ships over 60 meters long — will be docked at the show and at nearby marinas like the Rybovich Marina in the ritzy Florida town.

Some of these are for sale at eye-popping prices, but others are available to if in case you fancy living like a billionaire for a week or two this summer (and if you have six figures to spare on a vacation).

These are the eight biggest yachts that will be at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, in size order.

Nero: 90.1 meters

Seanna: 64.5 meters

Price: $54,000,000 (or from $462,000 a week to charter) Special features: marble foyer, movie room, sundeck pool

The recently refurbished Seanna is available for sale and charter.

Her indoor-outdoor gym is on sea level so that passengers can take a dip after a session with the onboard personal trainer. There's also a sundeck pool, a helipad, a two-room massage facility, and, for the more cerebral guests, a library with an electric fireplace.

There are a number of toys on board, including a popular water trampoline and two WaveRunners.

Come Together: 60 meters

Price: $65,000,000 Special Features: DJ and videographer on board, ice bath, sauna

Next-to-new yacht Come Together is looking for a new owner after doing charters during the 2023 season.

The Beatles' influence is evident beyond the yacht's name, with guitars dotting the sky lounge and a crewmember who doubles as a DJ. There's also an outdoor cinema and bar for entertainment and an ice bath and sauna for the day after the party. The owner's suite has a private study and lounge, and each guest cabin has its own ensuite.

The sale includes a number of toys, like Jet Skis, kayaks, and Seabobs.

Better call a sitter: Park Slope’s family-friendly pasta restaurant Pasta Louise is opening a new cocktail bar this week — no kids allowed. “This is not the place to bring your kids,” owner Allison Arevalo said in a statement. The new bar, called Bar Louise , opens on Wednesday at 221 Seventh Avenue, near Fourth Street. It has later hours and grown-up cocktails mixed with lychee, green tea, and rose petal-infused gin ($18 each). For food, there’s roasted onion dip, lasagna, and pigs in a blanket with wagyu beef ($12 to $26).

Opening hours at Bar Louise are Tuesday to Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to midnight; Friday to Saturday, 3:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., and Sunday from 3:30 p.m. to midnight. No reservations.

Nitehawk workers vote to unionize

Workers at the Prospect Park location of Nitehawk Cinema elected to unionize on Saturday in a close vote. The bargaining unit consists of over 100 line cooks, bartenders, and servers, who voted 51 to 41 to join the United Auto Workers union, according to a spokesperson for the employees.

Expo west: the ozempic effect on snacking, clean labels and more trends, corn milk, monk fruit and inclusive marketing at natural products trade show.

Eating breakfast before hitting the floor at Natural Products Expo West is a rookie mistake, since the annual food conference could easily qualify as the biggest multi-day sampling event in America.

Held last week at the Anaheim Convention Center just south of Los Angeles and in the shadow of Disneyland, the trade show pulled in some 70,000 attendees and 3,000 exhibitors of “natural, organic and conscious products” spanning food, supplements, and health and beauty, per organizer New Hope Network.

The shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, along with the show’s 512,000 square feet of real estate, may help to reenergize a category that has taken some lumps recently for its pricey goods and elitist marketing .

“The turnout speaks to the interest in the whole sector,” Tom Spier, founder and managing partner of investment firm BFG Partners, told ADWEEK. “The numbers suggest there’s real staying power in this industry—it isn’t a passing fad.”

While it’s not a here-and-gone segment, it may take a new form in 2024, experts say, with the proliferation of brands in recent years and the current economic climate setting off a merger-and-acquisition boom. Some brands will survive, some won’t, and some could be gobbled by CPG behemoths looking to amp up their better-for-you bona fides.

Eyes bigger than stomach

In addition to full bellies, the retail buyers and distributors, investors, entrepreneurs and lookie-loos on site got a taste of emerging and ongoing trends. Those range from the continued explosion of world flavors like Asian, Indian, Mexican and African to the omnipresence of faux meat jerky, “ugly” fruit snacks, adaptogen-boosted coffee and a Yo Egg plant-based poached egg that was practically indistinguishable from the real thing.

Dates and hot honey are having a moment, and mushrooms are still going strong—as a supplement, an ingredient and a stand-alone product in various forms. Paul Stamets, a mycologist known for his key role in the Fantastic Fungi documentary and companion book, got a rock star’s reception with consistently long meet-and-greet lines at his Host Defense Mushrooms booth.

Pistachio and pecan milk are no longer the new kids on the non-dairy block—that distinction goes to corn milk, a longtime staple in Asia and Central and South America, but largely unknown here. A startup called Maizly, readying its first U.S. distribution deal, aims to break through with its non-GMO alternative to plant- and nut-based drinks. (And speaking of alternatives to traditional milk, Lattini’s sunflower milk is also coming soon.)

Regenerative farming was an oft-cited marketing buzzword, as was “clean label” though the definition is often unclear, and monk fruit (as a sugar substitute) was everywhere. Grab-and-go convenience items were all the rage, as were gummies of every variety. Read on for more cherry-picked morsels:

Welcome to the club

If the goal is to go from cult favorite to mainstream—and for most companies it most definitely is—brands in the plant-based products space cannot continue the regrettable practice of preaching only to the choir, as some marketers have publicly acknowledged. 

Executives at Impossible Foods have been outspoken on the issue recently, using it as a hook for a brand revamp that includes new packaging and an arms-wide-open message for flexitarians. 

The move coincides with Impossible’s new hot dog launch ahead of summer barbecue season, and came to life in a massive blood-red, meat-themed booth at Expo West. (The purveyors of faux meat have been particularly hard hit by the criticism, and one of the segment leaders, the beleaguered Beyond Meat , was conspicuously absent from the show.)

Meanwhile, collaborations are bringing the plant-based and animal product worlds closer together. Kraft Heinz showed off its expanding line of plant-based products with partner NotCo , such as a dairy-free take on the iconic blue-box mac and cheese. And companies like Umaro Foods, which makes seaweed-sourced bacon, is debuting a breakfast sandwich at Whole Foods with real egg and cheese.

Gail Becker, founder of Caulipower—which promoted new products at the show like pizza bites and chicken bites—noted a communication problem in the industry when she launched her brand in 2017.

“There was a lot of preciousness—it was so exclusive,” Becker said. “I really wanted to create a welcoming brand, something that’s for everybody. We don’t food shame.”

The positioning, which Becker attributed to listening closely to consumer feedback, has helped the brand sell as well at Walmart as it does at Whole Foods.

Turning the tide for some brands may prove challenging, if they’ve established themselves even informally as products for only a select group of buyers.

“The big brands in the industry often think the consumer doesn’t know any better—they bet against the consumer,” Becker said. “We believe they do know better.”

Food as medicine

At its core, Expo West is about snacking, and companies continue to pack their products with more protein and fiber, fewer carbohydrates and calories—in short, offering the grazing public something other than junk food.

But what happens when snacking itself is under pressure? This year’s convention was coincidentally timed at the height of the GLP-1 craze, with retail giants like Walmart having already pointed the finger at drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy as the cause of a marked slowdown in food sales.

“The Ozempic effect is real, and it’s causing a bit of an identity crisis in the snacking category,” said Jennifer Stojkovic , founder of the influential Vegan Women Summit. “There was a lot of talk at the show about complex, healthy fibers and satiation—because Americans are fiber-starved—and brands were promoting themselves as ‘nature’s Ozempic.’”

Gut health was one of the major themes at the event, with brands battling against GLP-1 drugs with a “food instead of pharma” message, Spier said. 

BelliWelli was hyping its new dietary fiber and probiotics powder, debuting next month nationally at Walmart and online, while fast-growing beverage line Olipop was one of seemingly dozens of drinks touting its prebiotics and functional benefits.

Eric Greenspan ahoy!

Amid a sea of products that eschewed any and all animal products, celebrity chef and restauranteur Eric Greenspan was on hand to tout his premium American cheese made with aged cheddar, real cream and real butter.

Greenspan was stationed at the 4th & Heart booth, where workers were handing out samples of his New School artisanal grilled cheese sandwiches made with the brand’s ghee. Indulgent, bordering on sinful? Yes, please.

The entrepreneur, who beat Bobby Flay on Iron Chef and pioneered the ghost kitchen concept, spent six years on the recipe, aiming to disrupt a commodified category best known for mass-produced, plastic-wrapped slices.

But along with fine-tuning the product, Greenspan and partner Alan Leavitt have kept their eye on the business end, knowing that competition is inevitable.

“We have to make sure we’ve built a brand that’s as defensible as our product,” Greenspan told ADWEEK. “When somebody else goes, ‘Oh, that’s super smart to do a premium American cheese, we can do that too, and we have more money and more reach,’ if we’ve solidified our brand, we can protect our position.”

Plenty of consumers, even at the foodie end of the spectrum, love American cheese for its nostalgia and comfort, but the lowbrow grocery staple was ripe for a thoughtful revamp, Greenspan said.

It is, after all, a $70 million niche market with few entrenched players outside of Kraft , whose label reads “pasteurized prepared cheese product.” For legal reasons, it can’t be called American cheese—it’s made mostly of whey, skim milk and preservatives.

“If I can get 1%—or less than 1%—of the market, I get a yellow-colored yacht called the S.S. Melty,” Greenspan said. “Which would be great.”
