A yacht is really just a luxury floating home . When you’re talking 70 feet and larger, they’re a lot nicer than my house. As you’ll see in the luxury yacht interiors below, the quality and aesthetics are simply gorgeous. And we merely feature a small handful of such boats. There are thousands and thousands of these worldwide.

Yacht Primary Bedrooms (Staterooms)

We kick off our yacht interiors gallery with the stateroom. When it comes to the primary bedroom on these boats, no expense is spared. They are large, comfortable and stunning in design. These bedrooms are bigger than our primary bedroom.

Yacht Guest Bedrooms (2 Beds)

Many guest bedrooms on a yacht have two beds so that it can accommodate more people. However, they are, as you’ll see below, still very, very luxurious. These are certainly cozy sleeping quarters.

Salon and Dinette Photos

My favorite room on the boat is the salon and/or dinette area. In many cases, the dinette doubles as the living room. Mega yachts have dedicated salons and dining areas. I love these superb lounge designs below in the cabin as well as the upper lounge areas.

I must admit that kitchens on these super yachts are fairly small. I guess the cooking is done by the staff and yacht owners prefer to have more space for bedrooms, deck space and lounge space. That makes sense given there really is limited space. Nevertheless, these kitchens are gorgeous and the yacht designers certainly didn’t skimp with respect to quality.

Most boats dedicate very little space to bathrooms. Not these. The primary bathrooms below are incredible. The smaller bathrooms are guest bathrooms. These luxury yachts are so large and spacious that even the bathrooms are both beautiful and comfortable to use.

It’s not only a quiet place to work, but creates a buffer between the main deck foyer and the master stateroom.

The owner’s suite onboard this 180-foot Heesen is stunning; it uses the full 33-foot beam to create a vast, circular stateroom. The room is laid out around a forward-facing king berth. Natural light floods the room, and the large windows slide open so that you can enjoy the ocean breeze. VIATORIS | 133’ Conrad 2018

VIATORIS won the 2019 World Superyacht Award and you can see why as you tour the elegant interior. The entire forward section of the main deck is dedicated to the owner’s suite, which is finished with warm oak and rosewood.

The custom-designed master stateroom onboard this 133-foot Conrad features a centerline king berth, his and her ensuite bathroom, walk-in closet with a vanity, and an owner’s office space. Port and starboard folding balconies open up the room so that you can enjoy the ocean breeze. Breakfast in bed? Yes, please.

Numarine 37XP

You might need to pick your jaw up off the floor after seeing the owner’s accommodation on the Numarine 37XP . We have to specify that it’s the owner’s cabin because there is a separate master stateroom that’s equally as grand, minus a few features.

The full-beam owner’s stateroom on the Numarine 37XP is on the upper deck. The king-size bed faces aft to look out sliding glass doors with a view of the water. Heavy packers don’t have to worry about stealing closet space from their partner — a lengthy wardrobe has plenty of storage space for shoes and clothes. The same goes for the equally impressive sink and counter space in the ensuite bathroom. Other small but notable amenities in the owner’s stateroom include a minibar, safe, and dumb waiter.

CRESCENT LADY | 117’ Crescent 2020

The interior of CRESCENT LADY is seriously impressive as it’s a Gregory C. Marchall design . This yacht boasts a dark and moody interior that matches her Seattle home. The full-beam master stateroom features clean and contemporary styling with a walk-around king-size bed, a large walk-in wardrobe, and an ensuite bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub.

The master stateroom on this Crescent 117 also hosts a desk and vanity on the port side, plus a love seat below the starboard window. The simple, dark color scheme creates a cozy and intimate setting to relax after a day on the water.

Alpha Spritz 102

Alpha Custom Yachts thought of every last detail when designing the full-beam master stateroom on the Spritz 102 . It’s the forward most cabin on the lower deck and boasts a king-size bed, walk-in closet, desk area, lounge seating, ensuite bathroom, and plenty of storage. The hull windows are low to the water and provide plenty of natural light to create a comfortable space to relax.

The Spritz 102 is outfitted with floating walls, floors, and ceilings that are designed with insulation to reduce noise and vibrations so you can enjoy a quiet ride. One particular benefit to the floating floor configuration is the drain system (which can get a bit smelly on some older boats). Alpha Custom Yachts designed a drain system so that none of the odors from the bilge or rainwater tank permeate through the drainage system of the boat. You never have to worry about any unusual smells — a specific yet game-changing detail in the master stateroom.

Luxury Superyacht Interior Design Ideas

Home decoration doesn’t have to be restrained to dry land abodes. For those who count a luxury boat as a second home, or have their sights set on being able to say so someday, superyacht interior inspiration becomes a hot topic. There are design principles that remain relevant whatever the shape, size and style of the property, such as harnessing natural light, but beyond that, superyacht interior design requires its own, shipshape decorating agenda.

Incorporating the structural elements

Boat interior design typically faces a few physical barriers that affect the aesthetic. Often, some of the necessary structural facets of the build are exposed, such as steel supporting girders in the centre of a room, or technical obligations like marked security exits and emergency lighting that need to be visible, but will detract from the room’s style.

The key is to turn these challenges into opportunities. In the case of the supporting columns, they can be transformed into elegant pillars with additional, dummy columns added to make a statement with strong symmetry.

Channelling natural light

Just as with houses on the shore, a luxury yacht interior is always going to be benefit from natural light pouring in. Many contemporary yachts are purposefully being designed to echo what you see in contemporary buildings – ceiling to floor sheets of glass. Or as close to that as they can.

Not only does this direct a greater degree of natural light into the yacht’s living spaces, but it challenges the traditional window design you’d see at sea, making them appear less stereotypically nautical.

Maximise the amount of light by using high-gloss, polished surfaces that will reflect the sun’s rays as well as oversized mirrors if the wall space allows. If the yacht’s windows are more traditional in their dimensions, avoid heavy window treatments like fully-lined, voluminous curtains that, even when pulled back, will block some of the natural light from entering.

Working with oddly shaped rooms

Many vessels have a matrix of unusually shaped rooms that can make living quarters feel cramped. One way to work around this to use glass instead so that there’s still the required support in place, but the walls become transparent, opening up the environment.

This takes a lot of planning with the shipyard and means creating a channel that holds the glass within the boat’s structure – it should be installed even before the flooring so that the wall flows smoothly through the floor. But if this degree of build isn’t passable or if you’re only concerned with decoration rather than the boat’s architecture, remember to stick to just a few colours and materials in your boat’s scheme.

By having walls, ceiling and designer furniture all in the same colour, they fuse together and make unusually shaped rooms appear less cumbersome. In the Martin Kemp Design interior, you see a focus on white and the same tone of wood used from room to room, which result in any awkward angles being smoothed out.

Make the most of the minimal square footage

Even on the grandest of super yachts (have a read of our Q&A with superyacht firm Bannenberg and Rowell for seriously grand boat design talk), space is always the biggest constraint. Practicality doesn’t have to overrule good looks, but the two do need to balance to achieve a harmonious interior. Nothing is more frustrating than when there’s not enough room to store belongings, so by ensuring there’s a considerable amount of clever, integrated storage, the less there is to line the corridors and litter any surfaces.

Other key design tips to not over-occupy minimal square footage include ensuring any electrical wiring and speakers for technology like music or entertainment systems is concealed in the boat’s walls with a flush finish if possible. With lighting , concentrate less on floor lamps and more on wall lights , ceiling lights and pendant lights . Look closer at the Martin Kemp Design yacht bedroom and you’ll notice there are bedside wall lights and shelves rather than lamps and tables, as well as lots of LED strip lighting that take up no room.

Build in seamless storage

Attention to detail is always pivotal in interior design, because the smallest of touches can have a huge effect. In terms of a boat’s design, a strong example is making sure any storage is handleless.

Push-to-open mechanisms or cutout handles really do make a room feel far sleeker. The handle-free option combined with integrated storage that’s flush to the wall allows for significant fluidity. This doesn’t mean to say that every piece of storage has to be fitted. But try to bring in any freestanding items of storage in line with the architecture of the room. Follow any places where the walls come out and let them be your guide.

Looking back at the Martin Kemp Design bedroom, the chest of drawers doesn’t protrude past the wall on the left-hand side of the room, and in the twin bedroom, the bedside tables are at the same level as the bed frame which creates a seamless line.

Working with low ceilings

Superyacht design almost always should seek to combat the notorious low ceiling environment. Boat ceilings can be as low as seven feet, so employ design trickery techniques that can give the illusion that they’re on the taller side.

Reflective materials used well will add lift and can even create a feeling of infinity when they’re used in a detail-oriented way. For example, in the Martin Kemp Design bedroom pictured, where there’s a combination of gloss paintwork and reflective panels laid in a chevron formation which draws the eye up and along.

Equally, dark colours used overhead with a reflective finish adds depth to the ceiling that’s hard to calculate – there’s no telling where it ends, and so the ceiling height feels lifted, like it might go on and on and on.

On board the world's largest private residence yacht

The largest private residence yacht on the water - 196 metre superyacht The World - has welcomed back residents on board and will resume her extensive sailing program after more than a year in July 2021 . We take a look inside her interiors to reveal the luxury apartments and facilities on offer to those who call her home.

Apartments on board The World

The World has a total of 165 luxury residences on board and an average occupancy of 150 to 200 people at a time. There are currently 150 families originating from 20 different countries residing on board in apartments ranging from studio size to three-bedroom homes.

Marina restaurant

There are a total of six communal restaurants for residents to enjoy on board The World . Dishes served are inspired by the current location in which the superyacht is moored, with the culinary team sourcing ingredients from local markets, sometimes joined by residents on their excursions. Pictured above is Marina, a steakhouse with breathtaking views to the outdoors.

Three-bedroom residences

A three-bedroom residence such as the one pictured above offers an inviting grand foyer, a kitchen filled with premium cooking appliances, a dining area, three full bathrooms, a personal library, a living room with a fireplace and generous balcony space from which to enjoy the ever-changing views.

With outdoor balconies running the length of The World , residents can opt to enjoy sleeping under the stars in an al fresco "bali bed" for an atmospheric experience in warm weather climates.

The swimming pool

The World offers an on-board spa centre for residents to enjoy treatments and fitness activities, including a swimming pool and a fitness deck with outdoor equipment and machines that help you stay in shape while taking in the ocean views.

Residents on board The World can head to Fredy’s Deli Marketplace to pick up groceries or snacks to prepare in their own kitchen.

East Restaurant

The wine vault

One of the unique features on board The World is an extensive wine vault. Over 14,000 bottles from 19 countries are stored on board, with restaurant menus offering an extensive selection of over 1,100 wines to pair with your dinner. The are also plenty of curated experiences for wine connoisseurs to enjoy on board; The World’s head sommelier welcomes select winemakers aboard to discuss wine production and pairing with the residents, while in port residents are invited on exclusive visits to vineyards around the world, some of which have not opened their doors to visitors in years.

Tides restaurant

When the weather permits residents can dine al fresco at Tides restaurant, which offers health-conscious Mediterranean-style cuisine such as fresh homemade pasta, accompanied by a backdrop of ocean views.

Bars on board The World

A cocktail from one of the numerous on-board bars can be enjoyed al fresco while taking in the ever-changing scenery from one of The World 's lounge spaces.

The World at sea

The World will resume her sailing program in summer 2021 with stops scheduled in the Greek islands, Cyprus, Croatia, Italy, France, Spain and the Madeira Islands. In the latter part of the year, she will head to the Caribbean and Central America to explore Bermuda, The Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, the Leeward Islands, the Dominican Republic, the Cayman Islands, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Panama and Guatemala.

Antioch man drowns at Percy Priest Lake, Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency says

An Antioch man is dead after witnesses say he struggled to return Wednesday to a pontoon boat anchored on Percy Priest Lake.

The 54-year-old, who was not identified by name, was using the boat's attached slide shortly before he entered the water Wednesday afternoon, according to a statement from the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency.

"While attempting to swim back to the vessel, he began to struggle and disappearred below the surface," the statement said.

It was three to five minutes before the other people aboard were able to find the man, the agency said. Once he was found, he was pulled onto the boat and taken to a nearby boat ramp. Someone began CPR on the man and continued until first responders arrived on the scene.

Responding medics pronounced the man dead, the agency said.

His death marks the second boating-related fatality on Percy Priest Lake and the 16th death on Tennessee waterways this year.

Some people watch the Olympics for the events. Others watch for the hot athletes.

This is nothing new. Going all the way back to the first century, the orator Dio Chrysostom praised the “beauty” of the boxer Melankomas, who competed in the ancient Greek athletic games .

That same feeling resonates in 2024. A number of participants in the Paris Summer Olympics have distinguished themselves for things beyond their athletic talent. In an extreme case, a pole-vaulter gained a great deal of attention — some might say notoriety — for failing in a unique way. Others caught the public’s attention through moments of love or kindness — a different but equally palpable form of beauty.

There are numerous options to choose from, but here are 10 moments of beauty at the games.

Swimmers and Their Abs

After Italy won bronze in the 4 × 100-meter freestyle relay on July 27, the Italian swimmer Thomas Ceccon, 23, raised his arms in celebration. In doing so, he unintentionally bared his well-cut abs , which had many thirsting on the internet .

(Ceccon, who won gold in the 100-meter backstroke, was later found sleeping on the ground next to a bench in Olympic Village after he had complained about the conditions at the village.)

Triple Play

For the first time in Olympic gymnastics history, three Black athletes shared a podium, with Rebeca Andrade of Brazil earning gold in the women’s floor exercise final, Simone Biles receiving silver and Jordan Chiles taking bronze. At one point, while they were on the podium, Biles and Chiles, both of the United States, bowed down to Andrade .

Each had their “ face cards ” locked down, with floor routines rife with sexy moments. Chiles had a wink to the camera when she opened her routine , Biles had her hand over her mouth when she closed out hers and Andrade impressed with her confident fluid movements to a soundtrack of Brazilian funk.

Suspended in Midair

The Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina, 30, was the subject of one of the most eye-catching photographs at this Olympics . In it, he defies gravity as he floats in the air and poses with one finger pointed toward the sky, his surfboard parallel to him, seemingly mimicking his stance. Aside from being the subject of a stunning photo, Medina took bronze at the surfing competition, which was held in Tahiti — 9,800 miles from Paris.

A Clutch Comeback

In the men’s basketball gold medal match, Stephen Curry made a series of clutch three-pointers in the draining minutes of the game, each more impressive than the one before, to lead the United States to a 98-87 win over France.

And after each of those artful shots, he flashed his signature “night, night” celebration , pressing his palms together, laying them against the side of his face, and tilting his head — motioning France to go to bed. His teammates joined him, including LeBron James.

Curry scored 24 points as the United States won its fifth straight gold medal in men’s basketball, with plenty of help from fellow N.B.A. stars like James and Kevin Durant. He similarly delivered in the semifinal match against Serbia , scoring 36 points and leading the team to overcome a 17-point deficit.

Rumors of Romance

Devin Booker, an N.B.A. star and a player for the U.S. men’s basketball team, shared a video on Instagram of the footage he captured from the stands at the women’s individual all-around final in gymnastics. He recorded routines on a camcorder like a proud parent, cheering on Sunisa Lee, Biles and Andrade, with his teammates, including Curry, sitting next to him. During Lee’s floor routine, he chanted “Vamos, vamos!”

Then Booker posted a photo on Instagram of himself with Lee, which quickly drew attention. Though it might have just been a sweet pic of two athletes posing together, many were swooning over how good they looked together. Her body is tilted in his direction, and there’s a massive height difference — she’s 5 feet and he’s 6-foot-6.

Love has been in the air at the games, with at least six proposals involving athletes taking place so far.

After breaking the European women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase record, the French athlete Alice Finot celebrated by proposing to her boyfriend, Bruno Martínez Bargiela, in the stands. She proposed with an Olympic pin that reads “Love is in Paris.” .

The French skiff sailing partners Sarah Steyaert and Charline Picon were proposed to by their boyfriends after winning bronze in the women’s skiff 49erFX.

And the Chinese badminton player Liu Yuchen proposed to his teammate Huang Ya Qiong with a bouquet of flowers after she won a gold medal in the badminton mixed doubles final.

Showing Confidence — and Versatility

When Noah Lyles, 27, won gold in the men’s 100-meter , he did so wearing a diamond-covered chain-link necklace, pearls in his hair and nails that featured stars, a cross and a lightning bolt in red, white and blue. After claiming the title of the world’s fastest man by fractions of a second, Lyles, who is known for performing well under pressure, exclaimed to a camera, “I told you America, I got this.” (Later, he inspired some debate by winning bronze in the 200-meter after he had been diagnosed with Covid.)

Two days later, another stylish American runner, Gabby Thomas, 27, won gold in the women’s 200-meter — proving she can do it all. Back home, she graduated from Harvard with a degree in neurobiology and earned a master’s degree from the University of Texas in public health with a concentration on epidemiology. Her day job is volunteering at a health care clinic.

The Sharpshooters

Many people on social media reimagined the pistol shooters at the Olympics as characters from action movies .

There was the Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec, who nonchalantly competed with both eyes open, no special equipment (i.e., ear protector, specialized lens, eye cover) and one hand in his pocket. Dikec, 51, took silver in the 10-meter air pistol mixed team event, his country’s first medal in shooting. When he found out about his internet stardom, Dikec told the Turkish media , “I did not need special equipment. I’m a natural, a natural shooter.”

And then there was the Korean shooter Choe Dae-han . In a photo that spread quickly online, Dae-han is seen wearing a cyberpunk leather jacket and shooting with a deep arched back.

The Legend and the Future

After winning his fourth gold medal at his first Olympic Games, the French swimmer Léon Marchand, 22, held up four fingers at the end of the 200-meter individual medley race. When asked how he was feeling after becoming the fourth swimmer to win four golds at the same Olympics, Marchand said, “ I was more relaxed than usual, because I won three gold medals before. ” Light work.

And during Marchand’s moment of triumph, Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all, was in the stands, contorting his face and cheering along as Marchand beat his Olympic record in the 200-meter individual medley. Adding to the spectacle, Phelps had his hair in a tightly packed bun that drew plenty of opinions online.

An Act of Kindness

After a dominant 4-0 win over the U.S. men’s soccer team, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, 25, consoled the American soccer player, Kevin Paredes, 21. Hakimi, a defender for Paris St.-Germain, knelt down to comfort Paredes , who was crying. Hakimi lifted him up, put his arm around his neck and walked down the soccer field with him. Morocco went on to beat Egypt, earning the bronze medal.

Teen seriously injured when boat crashes into Lake Michigan pier

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – A woman suffered serious injuries late Wednesday, Aug. 14, when the boat she was riding in struck the south pier on Lake Michigan near Holland State Park.

The woman, 18, was thrown into the water and rocks on the channel side of the pier and was rescued by another boat passenger, Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies said.

The teen suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened around 10:15 p.m.

A 69-year-old Holland man was operating a 26-foot boat when it crashed into the south pier about 75 yards east of the navigational beacon at the end of the pier, police said.

The injured woman was thrown into the channel that leads to Lake Macatawa.

She and two other woman, ages 19 and 22, all from Holland, were on the boat.

Sheriff’s deputies and Park Township firefighters responded to a report of a boat crash with one person in the water. One of the passengers had already pulled the injured woman out of the water.

She was taken by AMR Ambulance to Holland Hospital. The crash remains under investigation, police said.

Like Harris, my wife is a stepmother to my son.

I am no longer in a relationship with his father and have been in a new relationship for four years. My wife came into my son's life when he was 6 years old and quickly stepped into a parental role. It was a role she enthusiastically took on.

My wife didn't immediately take an authoritative role or force him to treat her like a parent. Seeing my wife willingly step into a parental role with my son has strengthened our relationship. I knew I loved her almost immediately after we met, but seeing how my son responded to her made me more secure in my decision.

Sometimes, she still refers to him as mine, and I always remind her that she's his mom, too. We do everything as a team: school meetings, performances, birthday parties . Everyone knows us as his two moms, and there's no one else I could imagine doing this with.

My son now sees my wife as the missing piece to our family puzzle. He proudly claims her as his other mom.

"You're my mom too," my son will say when my wife calls herself his stepmom. He made that decision. My wife never wanted to force a close relationship on him, but he pushed for it.

Media has warped the perception of stepmoms

Popular media depictions of stepmoms are largely negative. The common trope is that they're evil.

For example, you have characters like Meredith Blake in the Lindsay Lohan version of "The Parent Trap," the Baroness von Schraeder in " The Sound of Music ," and, of course, the prototype: Cinderella's Evil Stepmother.

These women are always seen as temptresses who come in and seduce the father into marrying them before revealing they intend to get rid of his daughter so that she will be the only woman in his life.

Maybe there are stepmoms out there who fit this description, but by and large, stepmoms are there to be whoever their step kids want them to be.

I know that's exactly the role my wife plays, and my son and I are all the more lucky for it.

He finally ran out of other people’s money.

Disgraced Rep. Jamaal Bowman is begging for cash and painting himself as the victim in the wake of his bruising — and losing June primary fight against Westchester County Executive George Latimer.

The race was the most expensive in House history, and Bowman — who campaigned with surrogates who publicly celebrated Hamas terrorism –whined to donors about American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which spent $14.5 million to help unseat him.

“AIPAC spent more money against us than any other House primary – ever. I was public enemy number one and they spent almost twenty millions dollars to stop us,” the soon-to-be former member of the lefty House ‘squad’ said in a Aug. 14 campaign committee email.

“But that puts us in a bit of a predicament right now. After tallying up the spends, we’re ‘in the red.’ It would be an incredible help to our team if you could help us retire our campaign debt by chipping in a few dollars now,” the note continued.

It’s unclear how deep Team Bowman is in the hole until his next official filing, but his campaign burned through boatloads of cash in its final days — including more than $1.3 million in TV ads buys and digital advertising in June, FEC records show.

Bowman spent more than $5.3 million on the race while Latimer’s campaign dropped more than $5.6 million.

As of July, Bowman’s campaign reported more than $373,000 cash in the bank with debts of just over $141,000, according to his most recent Federal Election Commission filing.

“I’m glad Bowman was defeated. I am sorry [his campaign is] broke. But it’s only his fault and the fault of his campaign,” said Mark Mellman, president of the nonprofit Democratic Majority for Israel.

Insiders said consultant bills and fees can sneak up on campaigns.

“People often think that everything is paid before Election Day. It never happens that way,” said one Democratic consultant.

“Often times consultants send invoices after the election.”

Bowman, 48, a former Bronx principal at a school he founded who was elected in 2020, saw his political future implode when he infamously yanked a fire alarm in a Capitol office building in September 2023, claiming he thought it would open a door.

He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge, agreed to a $1,000 charge and was later censured by the House.

Bowman’s squad colleague, Rep. Cori Bush will also follow him out the door after losing her primary to Wesley Bell, another Democratic challenger.

Bowman did not return a request for comment.
