I’ve been back a few times and there is nothing bad to say! While I’m still obsessed with the oriental breakfast, I’ve tried the smoked salmon wrap and the healthy omelettes and everything was just amazing.. The Smokery Yacht Club El Gouna is always a great place to be for any occasion. Its new decor and style make for a very comfortable and elegant place to be in. The food is always good from appetizers to sushi; the service is excellent... and the waiters attentive. We love going there, its a great atmosphere! Big thanks to Lama, the manageress for always giving us extra special treatment, she is an asset to the place. Highly recommend especially if you want to hold a private event, location is stunning! We ordered sun-dried tomato pasta that came with no sun-dried tomatoes, the appetizers came after the main course, the service was slow. The furniture wasn't clean and torn apart, the staff were not cooperative at all, we were 5 adults and 3 kids and they... refused for us to stay at the cabanas cuz we didn't pay for 8 adults, and told us they will do an "exception" and will allow us to stay at the beach bed that is for 6 adults, yet the bed right next to us was only one couple. And down the beach was a family of 3 at the cabanas. Over all it was a bad experience. More

I hardly write reviews but felt needed to as we went in due to good reviews. Great ambience and a beautiful spot but service was subpar. Chicken dish and Steak Cafe de Paris came together but the steak was cold, California roll order was brought... as double, Patatas Bravas did not come despite two reminders - they finally came undercooked, which they waiter acknowledged as he had tried to bring them quick due to the delay! Two out of three desserts on the menu would have taken 20+ minutes (including cookies with ice cream!) and a waiter crashed a plate to the floor behind me with the food leftovers landing on my legs. As he brought the bill the waiter triumphantly announced we got one dessert on the house for all the troubles (value $4), while we paid fully for the cold, undercooked orders and the double one. There can be off-nights but the shoulder shrugging attitude of the staff was disappointing and they would clearly benefit from additional training More

is in that regards a bit misleading. But it’s by aim, because the restaurant is ambivalent. On one side, it could be one of the best in El Gouna, but on the other hand it’s a clear stay away and choose another one. Let me... explain you why: We went there in a few days three times, always we’ve been the only guest when we ordered. The stuff was basic friendly and tried to serve us. Most of them must have had their first day, and we have been their first customer. Day one, we are 4 people: Sashimi, Sushi, lobster ravioli All fantastic quality and taste 10 from 10! Service 4 from 10; if you’re very forgiving. They forgot almost all, including our main dish! We ordered 4 got 2 and of course they mentioned we ordered wrong. The missing two took 45 min. Day two, we are 4 people: Sashimi, Sushi, octopus and off course the fabulous lobster ravioli - again food fantastic, only octopus was a bit difficult to eat :-) All fantastic quality and taste 10 from 10! Service 4 from 10; if you’re very forgiving. They forgot almost all again Day three, we are 6 people and 3 kids: Sashimi, fries, fish, meat, pizza, pasta. Let me make it easy for you to read: Sashimi and lobster ravioli; absolut fantastic. The rest, wow even if you are very hungry you prefer a snickers! Service minus (-)5 from 10. There was some glimpse of interest from some of the staff. But the cook and the manager they couldn’t care less. Much appreciate from us. For sure by now you understand my ambivalent relationship. The location, parts of the food are top notch. But what makes it a super place is missing completely; service, friendliness and the will to even try their best is completely missing. I brought my family here when we first came to El Gouna, and we have continued to return during our holiday. Mostafa from smokery restaurant on the beach has always looked after us. We have received the most excellent hospitality from him, food, drinks and... amazing service from Mostafa easily makes this the best beach in El Gouna. 10/10 every time! Highly recommend. More

I recently attended a close family member Wedding at Smokery Yacht Club el Gouna . The venue s location is awesome, directly on the Marina yet not a busy or noisy area. Everything was in perfect order and elegantly executed. The setup, the decorations, the... service , the food quality and quantity and the drinks were more than perfect. This is the best beach in El Gouna for famillies and even as a single person or couple. Mustafa Abdel Wahab is the friendliest and most helpful member of staff here. We have come here 4 times now and each time we are always greeted... by his smiling face and wonderful aura. We look for him when we come now. He looks after us for our entire time here and if you want the best service, ask for him. We have had lunch Smokery beach restaurant. The burgers and fries were fresh, amazing, drinks Ice cold and service truly wonderful with Mustafa every time. Do not hesitate to come here and ask for him for a wonderful beach experience in Egypt. Rude staff treating guests with arrogance and not giving options while seating, a staff member called mostafa shouted at my face and obliged ua to sit where he pointed. And . No manager for the staff, said you can leave . Staff treats guest like... it is their own place. He said you can leave if you don't like it More

I love this place and been going there since it started operating. I just have an issue with the increase in prices and the lack of activities for kids, but I still go for Hany. His hospitality and smiling attitude makes my stay worthwhile.

Best resturant in Gouna! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation. A wonderful spot for a perfect night out. The service received was amazing and we will definitely be back again! I recommend it to everyone!

The Smokery at El Gouna Yacht Club: Sun, Sea, & Salmon

If you’re familiar with the Egyptian dining scene, you’ll know that sustainability is not really our strong point – quality is hit and miss, and sometimes even restaurants that have solid reputations and have been around for ages can disappoint. Case in point: if you’re a regular Gouna dinner, you may find yourself disappointed with what’s offered these days. However, we were pleasantly surprised – and relieved – to discover that the Smokery at El Gouna Yacht Club lives up to its billing.

Located towards the far end of Abu Tig Marina (on the opposite side of the new Marina to Mori Sushi, et al), the Smokery is situated right next to the marina’s lighthouse, so of course we chose to sit outdoors and admire the view despite the sweltering August heat. Craving something cold and salty, we completely bypassed their mise-en-bouche selection (35LE to 250LE) of cheese bites and fried seafood nibbles, and we went straight for their Salmon Fiesta; a selection of salmon bites including chunks of raw salmon steak, smoked salmon wraps and salmon sushi wrapped in seaweed. By the time we’d finished this generous dish and the tasty smoked fish dip they’d brought along with breadsticks, we all stared at each other in dismay. We were full. And we hadn’t even got to the main course yet.

Ignoring our stomachs and better judgement, we continued forth, and not ones to break with tradition, we ordered more salmon mains: the grilled salmon steak served with veggie nicoise and basil (around 140LE), the salmon carpaccio (85LE) and, for a change, the shrimp tempura. By this point, we were honestly frothing at the mouth from overeating, but you could hardly blame us: the salmon was so delicious and astoundingly fresh, we realised that all the other salmons we’d ever had now paled in comparison. If anything, we found that we could happily eat the Smokery salmon raw or smoked, with barely any garnish or side dishes necessarily.

Not ones to give up easily or wisely, we ordered the chocolate soufflé for dessert, which we spooned – groaning at the effort – into our tired mouths. Despite the suffocating heat, the hot chocolate was a welcome change to the salmon, although the portion could have been better. Yes, despite eating ourselves sick, the chocolate could have been bigger.

With impeccable, attentive service and a lovely outdoor setting, the Smokery makes for a quiet, classy dining destination in Gouna when you don’t want to have the DJ music and Friday night festival bands hammering into your ears. For four appetisers, two mains, one dessert and two glasses of wine, the bill totalled around 900LE; not exactly cheap but nonetheless a quality and refreshing dining experience in Gouna.
